2. Representative of my target audience
In my media products, I have chosen to represent the social group of indie teenage girls, aged
14-18. I have also designed my magazine to be heavily female dominated. Psychographically,
my target audience are interested in music, fashion, festivals and photography. Their interest in
festivals shows their passion for music and their interest in having fun with friends. My target
audience also value friendship and spend the majority of their time around other girls. Due to
the age group they are in, they are also up to date on all social media trends, therefore I
thought it was important to use social media links on my contents page to connect to my
target audience. My target audience are particularly interested in photography, through their
love of taking photos in their friendship groups and for taking photos at gigs and festivals.
They also have a strong likeable personality trait, which shows them to be a happy person.
Throughout my media products I have displayed the psychographics for my target audience
through imagery, the language used (for example the choice of articles) and the colour
scheme.
3. Media Kit
This is my media kit for my magazine. This
shows that my magazine is predominantly
based at females due to having 92%
compared to males 8%.
My media kit also shows that the median age
for my target audience is 16 year olds in the
ABC1 class.
85% of my target audience read about music
online at least once a week. This shows that
my target audience have a key interest in
music and social media. This connects with
the amount of likes, followers and subscribers
the magazine has on different multi-
platforms on social media because it shows
that my target audience also have a key
interest in online activities. In relation to my
music magazine questionnaire, 70% said they
wanted my magazine to be multi-platform,
therefore my magazine has fulfilled their
needs.

audience
Demographics:
Gender – Female
Age – 16
Class – AB1
Psychographics:
Shopping interests: Topshop, Asos, Miss Selfridge, Vans, Starbucks, Costa
Music preferences: Indie, Festival music, Particular sections of Pop, Acoustic
5. Clothes
My target audience would shop clothes wise at places such as Topshop, Urban Outfitters,
Zara and Asos. This is because they are all well-known clothes shops that my target
audience of the younger generation are aware of. These shops all distribute clothes that
are regularly kept up-to-date on the latest trends which is important for my target
audience. In relation to my music magazine questionnaire analysis, 72% of people were
female. This is one of the main reasons why my magazine is predominantly female based
as this type of magazine is in demand nowadays. The age category also relates to this as
58% of people who answered my questionnaire were aged between 14-16 while 33% of
individuals were aged between 17-18. This connects to my target audience because I have
based it around these age groups. Clothes wise, individuals this age are interested in the
shops mentioned.
6. Music
My target audience are interested in festivals and gigs. Examples of this are Wireless,
Latitude, Sundown and Big Weekend. This is because they are all well-known music
festivals which connect to my target audience because these events are stereotypically
important for the younger generation to go to. In relation to my music magazine
questionnaire analysis, 33 out of 90 people (37%) said their main interest was music,
closed followed by sport and social networking. Therefore, my target audience would be
interested in these festivals because they provide a variety of different music genres and
are heavily advertised on social media websites. Also in relation to my questionnaire
analysis, when ranking which feature would be the most important for a magazine,
information on upcoming gigs and received 2nd place. This shows that my target
audience are therefore interested in music and festivals.
7. Companies likely to be interested in
being advertised in my magazine
I decided on these companies/brands because
they are all commonly known by my age
target audience. These brands are also widely
spoken about on social media websites that
my target audience use regularly, therefore
they will be interested in seeing what each
brand has to offer. These companies would be
interested in advertising in my magazine as
they can identify the age group and gender of
my target audience being predominantly
female teenagers and see their products as
being suited to this type of target audience.
8. Products likely to be interested in being
advertised in my magazine
I decided on these products because they
summarise and stereotype my target
audience well. My target audience are
interested in music so I would include
advertising albums, festival line ups and
tickets in my magazine. My target
audience are also interested in fashion
and photography so I would include
advertising clothes, shoes, jewellery and
cameras in my magazine. These products
would overall attract my target audience
because they use/see these items on a
regular basis due to their interests.
9. Why my target audience would
buy/subscribe to my magazine
My target audience are likely to buy my magazine because the front cover would appeal
to them. The masthead of “Focus” would capture their attention as it relates to
photography which is an interest they are keen on. The use of a female on the front
cover and the use of the butterfly props would capture my readers attention because
they instantly be able to tell its predominantly a female magazine. The colour scheme
also helps give a feminine tone. My target audience are likely to buy the magazine
because the content inside relates to their interests. For example, there are a range of
music and fashion articles which would capture their interest. My target audience are
keen on keeping up-to-date especially on trends and the articles inside my magazine
provide them with that information. My target audience may also buy this magazine as
they can tell the artist on the front page is in the same age category as them so they will
be able to relate to her and will want to find out more about her so they can use her as
inspiration for their own goals. From my questionnaire analysis, I have included the
features individuals wanted such as interviews with artists and information on upcoming
gigs. I also listened to my target audience as they wanted my magazine to be multi-
platform, so there are a range of social media platforms my target audience can reach
my magazine on such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Overall, my
magazine targets a young audience who are interested in keeping up to date on all
trends to do with both music and fashion.
