The Porter's five forces is a competitive position analysis and business strategy format created by
Michael Porter in 1979. The premise behind the format is to provide them with five forces that
shape every industry. Mr. Porter 's theory is that if a company analyzed the information received
from reviewing the five forces, the company would be able to compete in a higher fashion against its
competitions. Following the five forces would allow a firm to determine the type of market or
industry it is operating in. Each of the five works as an individual factor in the microenvironment,
but one force could not exist without the out force in a stable economy. The five forces are Supplier
Power, Buyer Power, Threat of substitutes, the threat of new entrant and Competitive Rivalry. Three

After careful review one could come to the conclusion that rather it is Porter forecasting her own life
and death. During the early 1900's women were becoming more modern, but one fact about women
has remained the same. When dealing with her own hardships, the process is easier to discuss when
a woman is able to distance herself from her hardships. Porter's way of doing this was to portray her
true self in a fictional character, Granny Weatherall.

An intriguing setting is crucial to a successful story. When a book or story does not have a proper
setting the reader is going to be uninterested and unimpressed. Usually when a reader is uninterested
or unimpressed with the reading, they will put in down and not finishing reading. The goal of any
writer should be to make the reader visually picture their story or book. When a reader can visualize
the story, they tend to be entertained with the reading and finish to the end. Writers have to bring the
book to life with the details of the surrounding atmosphere. The reader wants to be able to see the
green pasture or taste the homemade apple pie just from the description. I enjoy reading and I will
not finish reading a story if the setting is not detailed. One more important aspect of a great story is

the cycle of life and death and rebirth. This theme is illustrated in the young protagonist, Miranda,
and her epiphany on the concept of the cycle of life and rebirth. The dominant tone in 'The Grave' is
melancholic, and that tone is created through the language elements of symbolism, diction, and
imagery. The story's tone is also supported by the fiction element character. Porter begins the story
with Miranda and her brother Paul exploring a graveyard while out hunting. As they continue with
their hunt, Paul shoots a rabbit that is about to give birth. Paul proceeds to carefully slit the dead
rabbit open revealing her young unborn babies. This moment is an epiphany for young Miranda as
she understands the meaning of rebirth and the cycle of life and death. Miranda later reflects upon
this incident years later in a foreign city's busy bazaar and is reminded of the event that transformed
her from an innocent child to a more experienced and knowledgeable young woman. One of the
