Essay About My English Class
I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was
already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even
more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I
finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of
English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be
where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on
the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths
that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an
English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do
that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content...
I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your
own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I
was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this
technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I
was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could
use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went
there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I
used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even
go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident
as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that
shaped me into the writer I am

What Are Fine Art? Essay
1.Fine art is a rather wide–spanning assortment of creative works able to be observed through our
senses, such as buildings, sculptures, pottery, songs, and paintings, created primarily or solely
for their imaginative, aesthetic, or intellectual content. Works are meant to recall a memory or
invoke a certain opinion or view of a situation or subject. They often capture imagery found in
nature or human regions such as farms and cities. The topics depicted by fine art are nearly
limitless, covering political, religious, comical, romantic, and satirical genres, as well as many
others. We as 21st century people are exposed to much more art in everyday life than most people
realize. "Everywhere you go art is evident,"; the office buildings we work in, the paintings
hanging on our fridges made by our children, and the music we hear on the radio, at recitals, and
yes, even coming from the shower, are all expressions of art; it is by no means confined to
museums (Montenagler). Every human is made in the Image of our Creator, and because of this
we are inherently creative beings (Genesis 1:26). Therefore, we can all be considered artists in
one way or another. 2.As I will discuss later in the meeting, a piece must have meaning to be
classified as art. The tricky part (and arguably the best part) is uncovering the meaning in said art.
As we can see in Jackson Pollock's drip paintings, "it 's like trying to crack a walnut... your job as an
observer of the painting is to crack the

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Great Influenza
The Great Influenza Rhetorical Analysis Essay Attention Getting Device: John Barry, in his writing,
The Great Influenza, he states, "To be a scientist requires not only intelligence and curiosity, but
passion, patience, creativity, self–sufficiency, and courage. It is not the courage to venture into the
unknown. It is the courage to accept – indeed, embrace – uncertainty" (Barry 2). During all eras of
time, scientists have endured enormous amounts of adversity. Scientists have had to maintain a wide
variety of skills in several different areas to assist them in different circumstances that they endure.
Scientists must have persistence, due to their main activity being trial and error. This means that
once they have failed, they most certainly have to be willing to try it again. A scientist also must
posses acceptance, as there will be times when they receive results that are not their predictions.
Scientist must obtain acceptance to come to terms with the results found in their laboratory. In John
Barry's The Great Influenza, he utilizes metonymy and rhetorical questioning to characterize
scientific research. Topic sentence: John Barry uses metonymies to relate a scientist's work to an
easier understood scenario. In the middle of his writing, Barry states, "A shovel can dig up dirt but
cannot penetrate rock. Would a pick be best, or would dynamite be better – or would dynamite be
too indiscriminately destructive? If the rock is impenetrable, if dynamite would destroy what one is
looking for, is there another way of getting information about what the rock holds?" (Barry 5). This
statement is able to display the use of metonymy in several ways. This can be seen as the statement
is comparing a shovel, pick, and dynamite to different tactics that a scientist would use. Also, the
statement is comparing a rock to an item or element that possibly holds the information the scientist
is seeking. Barry uses the substitution of these words to help the reader gain a better understanding
on the work of a scientist. Barry mentions words such as "shovel", "pick", and "dynamite" to
describe the several various methods that a scientist must consider when taking action (Barry 5).
Thus showing, the difficulty

Relationship with Writing. Essay
My Relationship With Writing Like most people, writing has made an impact on my life. I didn't
notice it right away, but once I did it changed my life forever. I consider myself to be a fairly
decent writer and I would say it was the only thing that kept me going. I love writing that involves
thinking and real emotion. Writing journals and letters have helped me get through a lot in my life
and that is really something I will never forget. For the most part, I like to write. I surprise myself
sometimes when I read what I have written. Essays don't seem to be that hard for me and most of
the time comes naturally to write. Ever since I was younger, reading and writing were always my
strong points in school. Math and science didn't stand...show more content...
Some times it would be a free write where we could write anything on our mind. Most of the time
I just wrote on what I had done and how I was feeling that day. Other times, he would write down
a quote on the board and we would interpret what we thought it meant. This is where I realized
that writing can really have an impact on peoples lives. Things can be interpreted in so many
ways and by sharing our thoughts on the quotes, I noticed that not everyone was the same. With
my experience in a sophomore English class, this really helped me realize that this is a passion
for me. In the beginning of the year, I really dreaded it because I thought I couldn't write a full
page in 10 minutes. By the end of the year, I couldn't wait to get to English class to write down
how I was feeling or interpret a quote that was chosen. I guess you could say that my favorite type
of writing would have to be in journal format. I have enjoyed essay writing and letters just as
much though. Since the day one of my best friends left for basic training for the military, I have
written him a whole bunch of letters. I enjoyed doing this because not only was it the only way to
communicate with him, but it was somewhere I could write down my feelings. Having the
opportunity to let things off my chest by writing has probably changed my life. I don't say that
lightly because there have been instances where I felt like I was hopeless and having the chance to

The Uses And Gratifications Theory Essay
The uses and gratifications theory has been explored by many a scholar from as early as the 1940's.
While many audience theories focus around what effect media products have on audiences, Chandler
(1994) states that instead the uses and gratifications theory focuses on what audiences do with
media. Chandler continues that this audience model focuses around why and how people select and
use media texts in order to fulfil particular social or psychological gratifications. This essay will
explore findings from early uses and gratifications research studies and what these said about the
relationship between audiences and the mass media. It will then assess whether these theories are
still relevant in the modern day internet era where social media plays a pivotal role in day to day life.
One of the first research studies to be conducted around the uses and gratifications model was
Berelson's 1949 study titled 'What missing the newspaper means'. Conducted during the New York
newspaper strike, this study questioned subjects on what they normally used the newspaper for
and what effect not being able to read the newspaper had on them. Berelson (1949) found that
while many people listed using the newspaper as a source for serious news as their primary use,
most people in fact used the newspaper instead for finding information about public affairs, as a
tool for daily living, for recreation, for social prestige and for social contact. According to the study
many people considered

Sensory Issues
Having a child with autism, you will know the challenges you face on a daily basis and one of the
most common of them is dealing with sensory issues your child may have. Sensory issues are
where someone has an over or under sensitivity to things such as; the texture of food, the level of
light and the level of sound for example that causes them discomfort that causes stress and may
even cause meltdowns. So in this article, we will be exploring ways you can help your child cope
with his/her sensory issues:
1.Build a sensory room for your child
A Sensory room is a room that provides sensory stimulation; usually this is achieved by using special
lighting, low level music and maybe even textured walls.

My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to
advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has
created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why
English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in
America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take
advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English
IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome
obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there
are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was
something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to
organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class
was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write
about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had
many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it
flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around
more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned

Writing is a tool that we have all been using in one capacity or another since we were probably kids.
I remember as a youngster when I could not express how I felt about a particular issue I was told to
write it down so I can make more sense of my feelings. Those are my first experiences with writing
and where my relationship started develop. As I've gotten older, I have learned to really Express my
feelings rather good or bad in my writing. This is where I fell in love with it. The fact that it doesn't
matter what the circumstance or the situation is, I can put it on paper and it automatically makes
sense. There are so many things writing has taught me over the years and I am very excited about it

One of my favorite books to read is the Bible. Now honestly speaking, it can be hard to understand
sometimes. And there are some things there that don't sound nice, but I feel that rather good or bad
it will help me in the long run. That is also how your writing should affect others. Rather it is a
piece that is like or love, does it help those that are reading it.
Your audience is very important 2 you're reading. You should want to affect them in ways
unimaginable. When scientists right, I do not feel that they want everyone that reads their
material to agree with them. I feel what they are trying to do is spread knowledge and give you
something that you may not know or heard before. This is the type of fact you should want your
writings to have. You want them to come back because it benefits them in one way or another.
Riding does not always have to be a bed of roses, but if it's something that can be taken from it that
is always a great thing. There's also a sensitivity that you have to try to get rid of when it comes to
writing. Everyone is not going to like it and you have to be able to deal with that criticism.
Criticism can be constructive and if listen to and utilize correctly, it can only be better you and your
writing. That can really push your relationship with it to another level.
Writing is something that will always be in my life. My relationship with writing have reached a
level that

Nationalism In South Africa
Nationalism is an ideology that an individual's loyalty and devotion to their country surpasses their
own interests. Nationalism is also an idea that nations should work independently instead of together.
In South Africa during the period of 1912 to 1940, various Nationalist movements emerged.
African Nationalism is a political movement that calls for the unification of Africa and for national
self determination. It attempted to transform the identity of Africans and it was the struggle against
foreign colonial powers ruling over African territory.
The Freedom Charter was designed by the ANC in 1955 and it aimed to give all South Africans
equal rights. There was a demand for a non–racial South Africa, democracy, human rights, labor
laws, nationalization and land reforms. The Constitution of South Africa contains the demands of the
Freedom Charter.
The African National Congress was founded in 1912 as the South African Native National
Congress by Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme. It was renamed the African National Congress in 1923. The
ANC was started as an act of unity to join the educated, the rural population and members of tribes.
It lead the struggle for political, social and economic change. The ANC also wanted to unite Africans
to defend their rights and fight for their freedom.

the superiority of whites over blacks. In 1951, Bantustans (Homelands for black people) were
created and it was eventually realized that Afrikaner Nationalism could not suppress African

Astronomy Essay
One thing us as humans have never been able to fully understand is astronomy. Always having an
unexplained mystery, astronomy also has served as a way to keep time and predict the future. The
word "astronomy" is defined as the study of heavenly bodies, meaning anything in the sky such as
stars, galaxies, comets, planets, nebulae, and so on. Many people, if not everyone, is amazed by the
night sky on a clear, moonless night.
Astronomy dates back to ancient times when peoples such as the Babylonians, Egyptians, and
Chinese kept written records of astronomical events and occurrences. Today's seven day week
originates from the Babylonians' seven important bodies in the night sky: the Sun, Moon, Mars,
Mercury,...show more content...
A wide array of instruments is used to observe heavenly bodies today. These instruments include
optical telescopes which are used to magnify objects that emit visible light. Some celestial bodies
are very difficult or impossible to see with optical telescopes. To see these, we use radio, X–ray,
ultraviolet, or infrared instruments. An advantage of radio astronomy is the fact that radio waves
aren't stopped by the sun or clouds, therefore the stars can be observed at any time.
Our own solar system today is thought to have formed from a large, single cloud of dust and gas.
The center of the cloud became dense enough and created enough energy from contraction to spark a
nuclear reaction, forming the Sun. The remaining dust and ice in the cloud formed into the nine
planets we know of today. Other objects within the solar system include comets, asteroids,
meteorites, interplanetary dust and plasma.
Any star that we can see belongs to our own galaxy, the Milky Way. Stars do not exist outside of
galaxies in empty space, rather in galaxies which are groups of billions of stars orbiting the center of
the galaxy (Fradin 140). Every star has a color ranging from red to blue–white. These colors tell us
many things about each star. Also, a star's

Infants are normally helpless when they are born so they totally depend on parents especially

Essay On King Tut
King Tut was found by Howard Carter in 1922. Carter was an archeologist who spent decades to
find King Tut. Once the discovery of King Tut comes out, people all over the world were intensely
enthusiastic about him. Even today, many people are still interested in him, his popularity does not
fade. People still talk, write essays or research articles about him. Although there are many other
mummies, King tut is the most fascinating. In fact, I believe that the discovery by Howard Carter in
1922 is the most significant archeological find ever!
The sheer number of objects found in the tomb make the find significant. In the tomb, Howard
Carter found more 3000 separate objects. From the numbers we can figure out it was a huge
tomb. Astonishedly, many of them were pure gold this reveal the time when King Tut died Egypt

Short Essay On Osiris
Osiris made his first major impact as the ruler of Egypt and his association with the king. This is
seen early on in the history of Egypt after "the unification, the first pharaohs used the myths of the
ancestral king to claim divine status for themselves." (O10) From this idea when the king died,
he became the ruler of the underworld and was Osiris incarnate, thus creating a strong relation
between the king and Osiris. While the king was alive, he was the son of Osiris, Horus. The
association of Osiris with the kings after their death eventually spread to the common man over
time. The underworld represented another world below, which those who died hoped to be
received by Osiris. However, this was not always an easy journey through the underworld with
various tests and trials. If they did pass the final judgment, they could then enjoy the benefits of the
underworld like renewal and eternal life. As god of the underworld he had the power to renew life
in the underworld, which helped his cult spread around Egypt and became intertwined with...show

One important interaction was with the sun god Ra. Ra helped to counteract the darkness that the
Egyptians associated with the underworld. Some of the Egyptian people believed that the
underworld was a terrible place and viewed Osiris in a threatening dark image. However, this was
mainly covered up by his association with the sun god and the king. The people continued to
connect Ra with Osiris and the funeral ceremony that occurred in his legend. Osiris gave strength to
Ra to bring the sun to the living and then to return to the underworld. They were seen as the "twin
souls."(EGG 158) Osiris also interacted with the flooding of the Nile River to help renew the soil in
both the underworld and in Egypt. Ra was not the only god Osiris was connected to. In the town of
Memphis he was linked with the important bull god Apis, who was associated with the king and

The First And Hardest Part Of Writing An Essay
The first and hardest part of writing an essay is figuring out how to start. A professor may give a
topic to be written about, but in some cases that may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic.
The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable
about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about,
will take away the anxiety of not knowing where to start or what to write about. If you chose to
challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick
a topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. For example, if you want to write a
paper about cars, do not make cars what your paper is about, because although it is a broad topic
it is also somewhat narrow. Try to broaden your topic buy changing it to, "how cars have changed
our lives." Changing your topic to a more argumentative thesis gives you a pinpoint area to write
about and leaves the door open to give you more to write about. The second step, and what I believe
to be the most important step is locating sources to support your thesis. A researchessay without
sources becomes an opinion essay, and that is what you as the writer want to stay away from.
Sources make your essay more creditable. If your essay is about "how technology has benefited
students and teachers in the classrooms," then you should find sources that are about how
technology is used in

Bartleby The Scrivener Setting Analysis
Recently, I have learned that urban settings creates an opportunity for intimacy with one another;
however, in "Bartleby, the Scrivener" written by Herman Melville, that was not the case. He
describes the nature of the world of work and business through concrete description of the scenery.
The story is set on Wall Street in New York City which had become the core of American business
life during the 1850s. The setting is a critical component of Bartleby, because it emphasize the
author's concern about the effects that an environment has on American society. Bartleby's
environment separated him from nature and the people around him. To illustrate Bartleby's
detachment from society, he worked in "a corner by the folding–doors" behind a screen and has a
window that "commanded at present no view at all" (1489). A creation of emptiness in the business
life was molded. The setting indicates a sense of isolation and failure to connect; however, it
establishes the relation between the walling out of Bartleby from his boss, passive...show more

Specifically, by using the city and, of course, the office, he shows us just how alone we can be
even when we are surrounded by others. We are, in deed, a product of our surroundings. As
mentioned, the walls and other barriers that separated or surrounded Bartleby impacted him greatly.
The atmosphere of the office is absent of friendless and a sense of community. In fact, the employer
even recalled this thought he had; he stated that "what miserable friendlessness and loneliness are
here revealed" (1495). This conveys the distance and incompatible relationship between him and
Bartleby. It was as if Bartleby was an estranged employee in a insensitive network. Although
humanity is profoundly alienated from one another, we are somehow connected; yet, we are
controlled by imperceptive forces that are beyond our

  • 1. Essay About My English Class I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content... I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that shaped me into the writer I am Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. What Are Fine Art? Essay 1.Fine art is a rather wide–spanning assortment of creative works able to be observed through our senses, such as buildings, sculptures, pottery, songs, and paintings, created primarily or solely for their imaginative, aesthetic, or intellectual content. Works are meant to recall a memory or invoke a certain opinion or view of a situation or subject. They often capture imagery found in nature or human regions such as farms and cities. The topics depicted by fine art are nearly limitless, covering political, religious, comical, romantic, and satirical genres, as well as many others. We as 21st century people are exposed to much more art in everyday life than most people realize. "Everywhere you go art is evident,"; the office buildings we work in, the paintings hanging on our fridges made by our children, and the music we hear on the radio, at recitals, and yes, even coming from the shower, are all expressions of art; it is by no means confined to museums (Montenagler). Every human is made in the Image of our Creator, and because of this we are inherently creative beings (Genesis 1:26). Therefore, we can all be considered artists in one way or another. 2.As I will discuss later in the meeting, a piece must have meaning to be classified as art. The tricky part (and arguably the best part) is uncovering the meaning in said art. As we can see in Jackson Pollock's drip paintings, "it 's like trying to crack a walnut... your job as an observer of the painting is to crack the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Great Influenza The Great Influenza Rhetorical Analysis Essay Attention Getting Device: John Barry, in his writing, The Great Influenza, he states, "To be a scientist requires not only intelligence and curiosity, but passion, patience, creativity, self–sufficiency, and courage. It is not the courage to venture into the unknown. It is the courage to accept – indeed, embrace – uncertainty" (Barry 2). During all eras of time, scientists have endured enormous amounts of adversity. Scientists have had to maintain a wide variety of skills in several different areas to assist them in different circumstances that they endure. Scientists must have persistence, due to their main activity being trial and error. This means that once they have failed, they most certainly have to be willing to try it again. A scientist also must posses acceptance, as there will be times when they receive results that are not their predictions. Scientist must obtain acceptance to come to terms with the results found in their laboratory. In John Barry's The Great Influenza, he utilizes metonymy and rhetorical questioning to characterize scientific research. Topic sentence: John Barry uses metonymies to relate a scientist's work to an easier understood scenario. In the middle of his writing, Barry states, "A shovel can dig up dirt but cannot penetrate rock. Would a pick be best, or would dynamite be better – or would dynamite be too indiscriminately destructive? If the rock is impenetrable, if dynamite would destroy what one is looking for, is there another way of getting information about what the rock holds?" (Barry 5). This statement is able to display the use of metonymy in several ways. This can be seen as the statement is comparing a shovel, pick, and dynamite to different tactics that a scientist would use. Also, the statement is comparing a rock to an item or element that possibly holds the information the scientist is seeking. Barry uses the substitution of these words to help the reader gain a better understanding on the work of a scientist. Barry mentions words such as "shovel", "pick", and "dynamite" to describe the several various methods that a scientist must consider when taking action (Barry 5). Thus showing, the difficulty Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 5. Relationship with Writing. Essay My Relationship With Writing Like most people, writing has made an impact on my life. I didn't notice it right away, but once I did it changed my life forever. I consider myself to be a fairly decent writer and I would say it was the only thing that kept me going. I love writing that involves thinking and real emotion. Writing journals and letters have helped me get through a lot in my life and that is really something I will never forget. For the most part, I like to write. I surprise myself sometimes when I read what I have written. Essays don't seem to be that hard for me and most of the time comes naturally to write. Ever since I was younger, reading and writing were always my strong points in school. Math and science didn't stand...show more content... Some times it would be a free write where we could write anything on our mind. Most of the time I just wrote on what I had done and how I was feeling that day. Other times, he would write down a quote on the board and we would interpret what we thought it meant. This is where I realized that writing can really have an impact on peoples lives. Things can be interpreted in so many ways and by sharing our thoughts on the quotes, I noticed that not everyone was the same. With my experience in a sophomore English class, this really helped me realize that this is a passion for me. In the beginning of the year, I really dreaded it because I thought I couldn't write a full page in 10 minutes. By the end of the year, I couldn't wait to get to English class to write down how I was feeling or interpret a quote that was chosen. I guess you could say that my favorite type of writing would have to be in journal format. I have enjoyed essay writing and letters just as much though. Since the day one of my best friends left for basic training for the military, I have written him a whole bunch of letters. I enjoyed doing this because not only was it the only way to communicate with him, but it was somewhere I could write down my feelings. Having the opportunity to let things off my chest by writing has probably changed my life. I don't say that lightly because there have been instances where I felt like I was hopeless and having the chance to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. The Uses And Gratifications Theory Essay The uses and gratifications theory has been explored by many a scholar from as early as the 1940's. While many audience theories focus around what effect media products have on audiences, Chandler (1994) states that instead the uses and gratifications theory focuses on what audiences do with media. Chandler continues that this audience model focuses around why and how people select and use media texts in order to fulfil particular social or psychological gratifications. This essay will explore findings from early uses and gratifications research studies and what these said about the relationship between audiences and the mass media. It will then assess whether these theories are still relevant in the modern day internet era where social media plays a pivotal role in day to day life. One of the first research studies to be conducted around the uses and gratifications model was Berelson's 1949 study titled 'What missing the newspaper means'. Conducted during the New York newspaper strike, this study questioned subjects on what they normally used the newspaper for and what effect not being able to read the newspaper had on them. Berelson (1949) found that while many people listed using the newspaper as a source for serious news as their primary use, most people in fact used the newspaper instead for finding information about public affairs, as a tool for daily living, for recreation, for social prestige and for social contact. According to the study many people considered Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 8. My Experience In English Writing English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Those are my first experiences with writing and where my relationship started develop. As I've gotten older, I have learned to really Express my feelings rather good or bad in my writing. This is where I fell in love with it. The fact that it doesn't matter what the circumstance or the situation is, I can put it on paper and it automatically makes sense. One of my favorite books to read is the Bible. Now honestly speaking, it can be hard to understand sometimes. And there are some things there that don't sound nice, but I feel that rather good or bad it will help me in the long run. That is also how your writing should affect others. Rather it is a piece that is like or love, does it help those that are reading it. Your audience is very important 2 you're reading. You should want to affect them in ways unimaginable. When scientists right, I do not feel that they want everyone that reads their material to agree with them. I feel what they are trying to do is spread knowledge and give you something that you may not know or heard before. This is the type of fact you should want your writings to have. You want them to come back because it benefits them in one way or another. Riding does not always have to be a bed of roses, but if it's something that can be taken from it that is always a great thing. There's also a sensitivity that you have to try to get rid of when it comes to writing. Everyone is not going to like it and you have to be able to deal with that criticism. Criticism can be constructive and if listen to and utilize correctly, it can only be better you and your writing. That can really push your relationship with it to another level. • 10. Nationalism In South Africa Nationalism is an ideology that an individual's loyalty and devotion to their country surpasses their own interests. Nationalism is also an idea that nations should work independently instead of together. In South Africa during the period of 1912 to 1940, various Nationalist movements emerged. African Nationalism is a political movement that calls for the unification of Africa and for national self determination. It attempted to transform the identity of Africans and it was the struggle against foreign colonial powers ruling over African territory. The Freedom Charter was designed by the ANC in 1955 and it aimed to give all South Africans equal rights. There was a demand for a non–racial South Africa, democracy, human rights, labor laws, nationalization and land reforms. The Constitution of South Africa contains the demands of the Freedom Charter. The African National Congress was founded in 1912 as the South African Native National Congress by Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme. It was renamed the African National Congress in 1923. The ANC was started as an act of unity to join the educated, the rural population and members of tribes. It lead the struggle for political, social and economic change. • 11. Astronomy Essay One thing us as humans have never been able to fully understand is astronomy. Always having an unexplained mystery, astronomy also has served as a way to keep time and predict the future. The word "astronomy" is defined as the study of heavenly bodies, meaning anything in the sky such as stars, galaxies, comets, planets, nebulae, and so on. Many people, if not everyone, is amazed by the night sky on a clear, moonless night. Astronomy dates back to ancient times when peoples such as the Babylonians, Egyptians, and Chinese kept written records of astronomical events and occurrences. Today's seven day week originates from the Babylonians' seven important bodies in the night sky: the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury,...show more content... A wide array of instruments is used to observe heavenly bodies today. These instruments include optical telescopes which are used to magnify objects that emit visible light. Some celestial bodies are very difficult or impossible to see with optical telescopes. To see these, we use radio, X–ray, ultraviolet, or infrared instruments. An advantage of radio astronomy is the fact that radio waves aren't stopped by the sun or clouds, therefore the stars can be observed at any time. Our own solar system today is thought to have formed from a large, single cloud of dust and gas. The center of the cloud became dense enough and created enough energy from contraction to spark a nuclear reaction, forming the Sun. The remaining dust and ice in the cloud formed into the nine planets we know of today. Other objects within the solar system include comets, asteroids, meteorites, interplanetary dust and plasma. Any star that we can see belongs to our own galaxy, the Milky Way. Stars do not exist outside of galaxies in empty space, rather in galaxies which are groups of billions of stars orbiting the center of the galaxy (Fradin 140). Every star has a color ranging from red to blue–white. These colors tell us many things about each star. Also, a star's Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Infants are normally helpless when they are born so they totally depend on parents especially mother or caregivers for their needs. Infants learn how to trust the world they live in as well as people around them. Parents or caregivers are supposed to feed infants when they are hungry or crying, change diapers when wet or conform them when they are afraid. When all this physical and emotional needs of children are met, they tend to develop trust in them because they can count on them. On the other hand when infant's needs are not met, they develop an attitude of mistrust. In the movie, Matilda was ignored by her parents because her parents were more focus on their own affairs such as bingo, business and her older brother. Matilda did not have her parents or caregivers to depend on, she was left alone in the house to take her own shower at age 2, feed herself and also wash her own dishes and clothes. There was no attachment between Matilda and her parents which couldn't lead to trust because her parents did not provide any affection for her. Once the discovery of King Tut comes out, people all over the world were intensely enthusiastic about him. Even today, many people are still interested in him, his popularity does not fade. People still talk, write essays or research articles about him. Although there are many other mummies, King tut is the most fascinating. In fact, I believe that the discovery by Howard Carter in 1922 is the most significant archeological find ever! The sheer number of objects found in the tomb make the find significant. In the tomb, Howard Carter found more 3000 separate objects. From the numbers we can figure out it was a huge tomb. • 14. Short Essay On Osiris Osiris made his first major impact as the ruler of Egypt and his association with the king. This is seen early on in the history of Egypt after "the unification, the first pharaohs used the myths of the ancestral king to claim divine status for themselves." (O10) From this idea when the king died, he became the ruler of the underworld and was Osiris incarnate, thus creating a strong relation between the king and Osiris. While the king was alive, he was the son of Osiris, Horus. The association of Osiris with the kings after their death eventually spread to the common man over time. The underworld represented another world below, which those who died hoped to be received by Osiris. However, this was not always an easy journey through the underworld with various tests and trials. If they did pass the final judgment, they could then enjoy the benefits of the underworld like renewal and eternal life. As god of the underworld he had the power to renew life in the underworld, which helped his cult spread around Egypt and became intertwined with...show more content... One important interaction was with the sun god Ra. Ra helped to counteract the darkness that the Egyptians associated with the underworld. Some of the Egyptian people believed that the underworld was a terrible place and viewed Osiris in a threatening dark image. However, this was mainly covered up by his association with the sun god and the king. The people continued to connect Ra with Osiris and the funeral ceremony that occurred in his legend. Osiris gave strength to Ra to bring the sun to the living and then to return to the underworld. They were seen as the "twin souls."(EGG 158) Osiris also interacted with the flooding of the Nile River to help renew the soil in both the underworld and in Egypt. Ra was not the only god Osiris was connected to. In the town of Memphis he was linked with the important bull god Apis, who was associated with the king and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. The First And Hardest Part Of Writing An Essay The first and hardest part of writing an essay is figuring out how to start. A professor may give a topic to be written about, but in some cases that may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic. The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about, will take away the anxiety of not knowing where to start or what to write about. If you chose to challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick a topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. For example, if you want to write a paper about cars, do not make cars what your paper is about, because although it is a broad topic it is also somewhat narrow. Try to broaden your topic buy changing it to, "how cars have changed our lives." Changing your topic to a more argumentative thesis gives you a pinpoint area to write about and leaves the door open to give you more to write about. The second step, and what I believe to be the most important step is locating sources to support your thesis. A researchessay without sources becomes an opinion essay, and that is what you as the writer want to stay away from. Sources make your essay more creditable. If your essay is about "how technology has benefited students and teachers in the classrooms," then you should find sources that are about how technology is used in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Bartleby The Scrivener Setting Analysis Recently, I have learned that urban settings creates an opportunity for intimacy with one another; however, in "Bartleby, the Scrivener" written by Herman Melville, that was not the case. He describes the nature of the world of work and business through concrete description of the scenery. The story is set on Wall Street in New York City which had become the core of American business life during the 1850s. The setting is a critical component of Bartleby, because it emphasize the author's concern about the effects that an environment has on American society. Bartleby's environment separated him from nature and the people around him. To illustrate Bartleby's detachment from society, he worked in "a corner by the folding–doors" behind a screen and has a window that "commanded at present no view at all" (1489). A creation of emptiness in the business life was molded. The setting indicates a sense of isolation and failure to connect; however, it establishes the relation between the walling out of Bartleby from his boss, passive...show more content... Specifically, by using the city and, of course, the office, he shows us just how alone we can be even when we are surrounded by others. We are, in deed, a product of our surroundings. As mentioned, the walls and other barriers that separated or surrounded Bartleby impacted him greatly. The atmosphere of the office is absent of friendless and a sense of community. In fact, the employer even recalled this thought he had; he stated that "what miserable friendlessness and loneliness are here revealed" (1495). This conveys the distance and incompatible relationship between him and Bartleby. It was as if Bartleby was an estranged employee in a insensitive network. Although humanity is profoundly alienated from one another, we are somehow connected; yet, we are controlled by imperceptive forces that are beyond our Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Special Delivery Analysis The first essay I read was Special Delivery. This essay was particularly funny to me because I could see my husband saying everything this new father was writing. When my husband and I had our first son I could see the panic in his eyes. Then my husband, like Brian, was scared to be in the delivery room. He also toughed it out and surprisingly became very supportive and excited. When we talk about the delivery, he describes it the same as Brian, they felt it was gross. When I was in recovery my husband stayed with our son and he also described a feeling that his whole world changed because of the little, wrinkly boy he was holding in his arms. The second essay I read was Epiphany. In this essay the writer is describing a moment Get more content on HelpWriting.net
