The Writing Process Essay
The Writing Process
Writing a paper on the writing process is pretty hard. The writing process is different from one
person to another. You come across questions like, 'What exactly is the writing process?'; and
'Must you follow one persons writing process if yours is different?'; This is where I came across
the answer to my questions, write however you wish to write. If one person likes free write first
and another person likes to write a draft first, let them do how they please.
The writing process is something that you figure out yourself as you go through school. I personally
think that is why they make us take English for so many years. Through the years, I found that some
teachers forced you to write certain ways. I believe that...show more content...
I don't agree with him. The only way for someone to improve his or her writing is if a peer reads
over it and explains what could be done to improve it.
In The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscript, Murray says, 'Writers must learn to be their
own worst enemy'; (Murray 87). He is trying to say that when it comes to editing, you must be able
to accept criticism from others and be suspicious of it. Just because they say that you should
rearrange that paragraph doesn't necessarily mean you have to. The way you wrote the paragraph
could be in your own voice.
Your papers should be filled with your voice. Voice is what makes your writing personal. But your
voice could be different depending on what you write about. I would put a lot more of my feelings
in a paper about food, than a paper about how the polar ice caps are melting.
Revising and rewriting a paper is a common step in the writing process. Personally, I think your
paper would be crap if you skipped these steps but I'm sure someone has done it before. Every
writer has revised and rewritten a paper. Do you think that Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet in
one shot? I don't think so.
In conclusion, writing is up to the writer. If the writer decides to follow the formal writing process,
then that's their choice. Nothing should be forced when it comes to writing. Then the writer does not
put out their best work possible. Thank you for reading my

Free Writing Process
When it comes to writing a paper, we all have been there when we are struggling to keep the flow
of your paper going towards the subject of your paper. Here, are some ways I can help you along.
Well, number one is the outline to have a good outline is to have a good paper. Next, is freewriting
being able to free write is one of the best ways to get started. After freewriting, comes the thesis
statement which is the sentence or two that brings the reader in and explains the focus of the paper
to its entirety. Finally, is the vocabulary, which is the single most important part ofwriting paper
because it deals with being able to find that right word and to know the definition of that word and
every other word in the paper.
When it comes to outlining the best thing to do is to create an outline, no matter how bad you are at
it. A small outline is better than no outline, when it comes to creating an outline, picture it as a
skeleton that all your ideas hang from, such as the arm is your thesis and the conclusion is the head,
limbs can be taken away to help your writing needs. Very helpful information because an outline can
be very difficult to attempt when you don't have these tools.
What I have learned from the freewriting article that was given to me, there was a great idea to start
your essay before you try writing, don't...show more content...
Make sure to keep the word, definition, and a sentence using that word and study those words
you have chosen. Soon you will feel comfortable with these words and know how to use them in
everyday life when the right moment occurs. Lastly, when it comes to vocabulary know the roots
are a great way to break down a word and where it comes from. Because over half of the English
language derives from the Greek or Latin

My Thesis Statement
In the process of submitting my essay for review, I requested that the writing specialist focused on
my thesis statement, grammar, and mechanics. When writing academic papers and discussion
responses, I often struggle with clarity, sentence structure, and punctuation, which result in lower
assignment grades. Therefore, to ensure that I clearly communicate my argument and facts in my
final paper, I felt that it was necessary to have these two areas reviewed. Regarding my thesis
statement, I wanted to ensure that my position, supporting reasons, and implications were combined,
effectively.

Listening Process Essay
Listening is one of the most powerful tools of communication and is a process that is used to
receive, convey a meaning, and respond to both verbal and nonverbal messages. It is what we
choose to do and it requires more work than speaking. Oftentimes, people simply misunderstand the
difference between listening and hearing. Hearing is a passive process that takes in sounds and
noises and listening is what you choose to do. This selective process includes 5 phases that can be
acquired for us to become effective listeners in the future. The 5 phases are attending, understanding,
remembering, critically evaluating (listening), and responding. Once the 5 different areas are
understood, we will become aware of what needs to change and how we...show more content...
The last two factors of attending are to resist tuning out and avoid interruptions. When it comes to
tuning out and interrupting, I have a huge dilemma while communicating with others. Back in high
school, that was one thing that I was good at; tuning out. I even still struggled with it coming into
college. In my first semester at Nassau Community College, a student asked me what we had to
get done on a class assignment and I had completely tuned out because I got easily distracted by
thinking about what I needed to do when I got home. I knew that tuning out was not a pleasant idea
and I should change that before it got out of hand. I keep a constant reminder that blocking mixed
thoughts and distractions will accredit me to improve in this area of the listening process. Avoiding
interruptions has always been an issue and still is to this day. It only occurs when I'm with family
and/or friends but never at school or with teachers. During an encounter with a friend, she was
talking about how we don't spend enough time hanging out and after a single minute, I interrupted
her with a tangential response. Interrupting interferes with attending and tends to be a barrier for
most schoolโ€“going students. If we want to prevent interruptions from happening, turnโ€“taking should
be greatly put into consideration. The next time I communicate with family or friends, I need to keep
in mind to patiently wait until it's my turn to speak.
The second phase of the

The research Process Essay
Processes of research by Jonathan Guy
In this essay I will outline the primary methods of conducting research, their advantages and
disadvantages and will outline where they are best utilised. In addition to this, I will select certain
methods of research that I believe will be applicable to my own dissertation and state why I will use
those particular methods to conduct my own research.
The first question we should ask is what is research? John C. Merriam considers research as "a
reaching out to bring together, organise and interpret what ever may be added to our store of
knowledge...most truly exemplified when it involves the wider relationship of specific facts to the
whole structure of knowledge". (C. Merriam, 1941, pg890) In other...show more content...
It is the fundamental requirement in the advance of civilisation" (Merriam, 1929, 56โ€“57).
Whilst there seems little argument over whether we should conduct research or not, its importance
being more than apparent, the question now becomes in what manner should we conduct research
and what advantages do certain methods have over others. There are numerous ways of conducting
research but the most prominent are the science and scientific methods, the logical methods, the case
methods, the statistical methods, and the experimental methods each of which shall now be
considered.
First we shall consider the scientific method. There is much debate as to whether social studies can
be considered a science on the basis of how it conducts its research but any claims that it is a
science are based more or less entirely on the scientific method and rational choice, characterised
predominantly by its use of facts and empirical evidence to support its claims with in political
"science". Karl Pearson states the scientific method as "The scientific method is marked by the
following features: (a) careful and accurate classification of facts and observation of their
correlation and sequence; (b) the discovery of scientific laws by aid of the creative imagination (c)
selfโ€“criticism and the final touchโ€“stone of the equal validity for all normally constituted minds"
(Pearson, 1911, 6โ€“78). In other words, the scientific method is one which tries to discover

Synthesis Thesis
1. Identify your thesis statement. How can it be more clear and/or specific? If you don't have a
thesis, identify a common thread or idea between the two assigned readings and create one.
Remember, a synthesis is not a compare & contrast essay.
Thesis: "Therefore, the food industry uses strategies of designing "healthier" fortified foods and
designing the layout to place products as many as possible in the supermarkets because these
strategies can help increase profits through stimulating consumers to more food in larger size
frequently." It can be more clear by presenting specific reasons.
2. Do you offer an interesting introduction that introduces your thesis, as well as the articles you're
synthesizing? What elements of the introduction are particularly effective? Which need more work?
...show more content...
The effective elements of the introduction are the illustration of the food industry. The introduction
of the two articles needs more work. I need to make it more clear.
3. Do you summarize the parts of the original articles that are directly related to their synthesis? If
not, make note of which parts of the synthesis would benefit from such a summary. If so, make sure
that the summary is objective when it needs to be and cited properly when necessary.
I summarize the parts of the original parts. For the article "Go Forth and Fortify", I summarized the
part of" the necessity of adding amounts of vitamins and minerals in the food and beverage" and
"the effectiveness of fortification in improving health." For the article "The Supermarket: Prime Real
Estate," I summarized the part of "the tactics behind the layout of the store and the product
placement." The summary is objective.
4. How is the synthesis organized? Is the logic of the synthesis clear and easy to

* Sample: The sample is limited to a small proportion of working professionals in Western Sydney
and may not accurately reflect the population of working professionals. 2.0 Literature Review "It is
only in our decisions that we are important" โ€“Jeanโ€“Paul Sartre Before commencing a discussion on
this quote it may be beneficial to gain an understanding of the key words or concepts suggested
by it. Firstly, the two key words are 'Decisions' and 'Important'. A decision can be said to be an
"opinion, position or judgement reached after consideration"1. Important is defined as "Of great
significance or value and strongly affecting the course of events or the nature of things;
significant"2 and this is exactly the message Sartre is trying to convey. Our decisions can shape
the course of our lives for the better or the worse so the decisions we make about the paths we
choose in life can determine the state of our existence and define who we are as human beings and
ultimately give us a sense of achievement or loss. A decision is a judgement reached after
"consideration" that is, 'why' do we make the decisions we make. It is important to understand this
process of decision making and various cognitive theories have helped us do this. Jean Paul Sartre
was a existentialist philosopher who like other such philosophers, attempted to characterise man by
his will, choices and decisions he makes

Thesis Statement
HOW TO WRITE A STRONG THESIS STATEMENT A WRITING CENTRE HANDOUT
1. UNDERSTAND THE ACADEMIC WRITING TASK
You can begin to formulate a good thesis statement only after you have got a solid grasp of the
purpose of the assignment. If you're asked to write a paper in response to a specific assignment
question, then your first task is make sure that you clearly understand the academic writing task.
Determine which of the following critical thinking skills you are primarily being asked to apply to
your object(s) of study: analysis comparison evaluation argumentation interpretation reflection
Your thesis statement, then, should take a form that reflects the goal of the writing task.
2. BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF...show more content...
Remember that a tentative thesis statement is not something set in stone; rather, it is something
meant to help you focus your analysis and research so that the writing task becomes manageable.
You should not attempt to start collecting and analyzing evidence until you have an idea of the
main argument you would like make in your paper. Generating the thesis statement, then, can be
thought of as a recursive process. In the early stages of planning and writing, the tentative thesis
helps you focus on the evidence in a certain way, but as you get further along in the writing process
the analysis of evidence should also help you clarify the thesis statement (Rosenwasser et al. 132).
The writers of Writing Analytically recommend that you ask yourself the following questions as you
go through the process of generating a main claim for your essay:
3
What kinds of patterns or implications emerge when I look closely at my evidence?
What kind of evidence and support do I need to support my tentative thesis? What kind of evidence
cannot be adequately accounted for by my tentative thesis? How can I explain the mismatches
between my thesis statement and my selected evidence?
How can I rewrite my thesis statement in order to accommodate the evidence that doesn't fit?
This practice of constantly readjusting the thesis statement to match the evidence and analysis will
ultimately lead you to write a polished and defensible thesis statement in your final

Have you ever compared store bought lasagna to a homeโ€“made one? There is no comparison,
homeโ€“made wins every time. It may seem like a hassle to make your own, but in reality it is not
that difficult. You will also be more satisfied in the quality and taste of your lasagna if you make it
yourself. It's a great meal to share with your family or just to save in the refrigerator and eat
throughout the week. If you are conscious about your health this lasagna will be good to make
because it uses chicken not meat. In order to make this lasagna you need to gather your ingredients,
prepare the ingredients, and put the dish together and bake it.
To bake anything you need to preheat your oven, this recipe calls for the oven to be at 350 degrees

After the noodles are fully cooked drain them with your strainer and set them aside. Also drain the
chicken, leaving the onion and garlic in the pot because you won't need them after that. When the
chicken cools off start shredding it into the other bowl you brought out. Mix in the marina sauce
with the shredded chicken until the chicken is evenly coated. You've prepared your ingredients now
it's time to put everything together.
No lasagna looks perfect so instead of trying to make it look perfect, focus on getting as much pasta,
chicken and cheese as you can in there. Prepare your pan by spraying it with cooking spray so
nothing sticks. Start off by laying down three or four (depending on your pan size) noodles
diagonally down into your pan. Grab the ricotta cheese mixture and evenly spread it on the
noodles. After the noodles are covered with cheese begin to spread the chicken and marina sauce
on top of the cheese. Finally, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the chicken then repeat
the previous four steps until there is no room left in the pan. Once your pan is completely full
cover it tightly in foil paper, and put it in the oven. Let the lasagna cook for about an hour, then
remove the foil and put it back into the oven for about ten minutes. Once the lasagna is done
cooking take it out, let it cool, and then serve it.
Now that you see the entire process of making lasagna you can see how simple it

Process Essay Thesis

  • 1. The Writing Process Essay The Writing Process Writing a paper on the writing process is pretty hard. The writing process is different from one person to another. You come across questions like, 'What exactly is the writing process?'; and 'Must you follow one persons writing process if yours is different?'; This is where I came across the answer to my questions, write however you wish to write. If one person likes free write first and another person likes to write a draft first, let them do how they please. The writing process is something that you figure out yourself as you go through school. I personally think that is why they make us take English for so many years. Through the years, I found that some teachers forced you to write certain ways. I believe that...show more content... I don't agree with him. The only way for someone to improve his or her writing is if a peer reads over it and explains what could be done to improve it. In The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscript, Murray says, 'Writers must learn to be their own worst enemy'; (Murray 87). He is trying to say that when it comes to editing, you must be able to accept criticism from others and be suspicious of it. Just because they say that you should rearrange that paragraph doesn't necessarily mean you have to. The way you wrote the paragraph could be in your own voice. Your papers should be filled with your voice. Voice is what makes your writing personal. But your voice could be different depending on what you write about. I would put a lot more of my feelings in a paper about food, than a paper about how the polar ice caps are melting. Revising and rewriting a paper is a common step in the writing process. Personally, I think your paper would be crap if you skipped these steps but I'm sure someone has done it before. Every writer has revised and rewritten a paper. Do you think that Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet in one shot? I don't think so. In conclusion, writing is up to the writer. If the writer decides to follow the formal writing process, then that's their choice. Nothing should be forced when it comes to writing. Then the writer does not put out their best work possible. • 2. Free Writing Process When it comes to writing a paper, we all have been there when we are struggling to keep the flow of your paper going towards the subject of your paper. Here, are some ways I can help you along. Well, number one is the outline to have a good outline is to have a good paper. Next, is freewriting being able to free write is one of the best ways to get started. After freewriting, comes the thesis statement which is the sentence or two that brings the reader in and explains the focus of the paper to its entirety. Finally, is the vocabulary, which is the single most important part ofwriting paper because it deals with being able to find that right word and to know the definition of that word and every other word in the paper. When it comes to outlining the best thing to do is to create an outline, no matter how bad you are at it. A small outline is better than no outline, when it comes to creating an outline, picture it as a skeleton that all your ideas hang from, such as the arm is your thesis and the conclusion is the head, limbs can be taken away to help your writing needs. Very helpful information because an outline can be very difficult to attempt when you don't have these tools. What I have learned from the freewriting article that was given to me, there was a great idea to start your essay before you try writing, don't...show more content... • 3. My Thesis Statement In the process of submitting my essay for review, I requested that the writing specialist focused on my thesis statement, grammar, and mechanics. When writing academic papers and discussion responses, I often struggle with clarity, sentence structure, and punctuation, which result in lower assignment grades. Therefore, to ensure that I clearly communicate my argument and facts in my final paper, I felt that it was necessary to have these two areas reviewed. Regarding my thesis statement, I wanted to ensure that my position, supporting reasons, and implications were combined, effectively. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Listening Process Essay Listening is one of the most powerful tools of communication and is a process that is used to receive, convey a meaning, and respond to both verbal and nonverbal messages. It is what we choose to do and it requires more work than speaking. Oftentimes, people simply misunderstand the difference between listening and hearing. Hearing is a passive process that takes in sounds and noises and listening is what you choose to do. This selective process includes 5 phases that can be acquired for us to become effective listeners in the future. The 5 phases are attending, understanding, remembering, critically evaluating (listening), and responding. Once the 5 different areas are understood, we will become aware of what needs to change and how we...show more content... The last two factors of attending are to resist tuning out and avoid interruptions. When it comes to tuning out and interrupting, I have a huge dilemma while communicating with others. Back in high school, that was one thing that I was good at; tuning out. I even still struggled with it coming into college. In my first semester at Nassau Community College, a student asked me what we had to get done on a class assignment and I had completely tuned out because I got easily distracted by thinking about what I needed to do when I got home. I knew that tuning out was not a pleasant idea and I should change that before it got out of hand. I keep a constant reminder that blocking mixed thoughts and distractions will accredit me to improve in this area of the listening process. Avoiding interruptions has always been an issue and still is to this day. It only occurs when I'm with family and/or friends but never at school or with teachers. During an encounter with a friend, she was talking about how we don't spend enough time hanging out and after a single minute, I interrupted her with a tangential response. Interrupting interferes with attending and tends to be a barrier for most schoolโ€“going students. If we want to prevent interruptions from happening, turnโ€“taking should be greatly put into consideration. The next time I communicate with family or friends, I need to keep in mind to patiently wait until it's my turn to speak. The second phase of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The research Process Essay Processes of research by Jonathan Guy In this essay I will outline the primary methods of conducting research, their advantages and disadvantages and will outline where they are best utilised. In addition to this, I will select certain methods of research that I believe will be applicable to my own dissertation and state why I will use those particular methods to conduct my own research. The first question we should ask is what is research? John C. Merriam considers research as "a reaching out to bring together, organise and interpret what ever may be added to our store of knowledge...most truly exemplified when it involves the wider relationship of specific facts to the whole structure of knowledge". (C. Merriam, 1941, pg890) In other...show more content... It is the fundamental requirement in the advance of civilisation" (Merriam, 1929, 56โ€“57). Whilst there seems little argument over whether we should conduct research or not, its importance being more than apparent, the question now becomes in what manner should we conduct research and what advantages do certain methods have over others. There are numerous ways of conducting research but the most prominent are the science and scientific methods, the logical methods, the case methods, the statistical methods, and the experimental methods each of which shall now be considered. First we shall consider the scientific method. There is much debate as to whether social studies can be considered a science on the basis of how it conducts its research but any claims that it is a science are based more or less entirely on the scientific method and rational choice, characterised predominantly by its use of facts and empirical evidence to support its claims with in political "science". Karl Pearson states the scientific method as "The scientific method is marked by the following features: (a) careful and accurate classification of facts and observation of their correlation and sequence; (b) the discovery of scientific laws by aid of the creative imagination (c) selfโ€“criticism and the final touchโ€“stone of the equal validity for all normally constituted minds" (Pearson, 1911, 6โ€“78). In other words, the scientific method is one which tries to discover Get more content on HelpWriting.net

If not, make note of which parts of the synthesis would benefit from such a summary. If so, make sure that the summary is objective when it needs to be and cited properly when necessary. I summarize the parts of the original parts. For the article "Go Forth and Fortify", I summarized the part of" the necessity of adding amounts of vitamins and minerals in the food and beverage" and "the effectiveness of fortification in improving health." For the article "The Supermarket: Prime Real Estate," I summarized the part of "the tactics behind the layout of the store and the product placement." The summary is objective. 4. Firstly, the two key words are 'Decisions' and 'Important'. A decision can be said to be an "opinion, position or judgement reached after consideration"1. Important is defined as "Of great significance or value and strongly affecting the course of events or the nature of things; significant"2 and this is exactly the message Sartre is trying to convey. Our decisions can shape the course of our lives for the better or the worse so the decisions we make about the paths we choose in life can determine the state of our existence and define who we are as human beings and ultimately give us a sense of achievement or loss. A decision is a judgement reached after "consideration" that is, 'why' do we make the decisions we make. It is important to understand this process of decision making and various cognitive theories have helped us do this. Jean Paul Sartre was a existentialist philosopher who like other such philosophers, attempted to characterise man by his will, choices and decisions he makes Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Remember that a tentative thesis statement is not something set in stone; rather, it is something meant to help you focus your analysis and research so that the writing task becomes manageable. You should not attempt to start collecting and analyzing evidence until you have an idea of the main argument you would like make in your paper. Generating the thesis statement, then, can be thought of as a recursive process. In the early stages of planning and writing, the tentative thesis helps you focus on the evidence in a certain way, but as you get further along in the writing process the analysis of evidence should also help you clarify the thesis statement (Rosenwasser et al. 132). The writers of Writing Analytically recommend that you ask yourself the following questions as you go through the process of generating a main claim for your essay: 3 What kinds of patterns or implications emerge when I look closely at my evidence? What kind of evidence and support do I need to support my tentative thesis? What kind of evidence cannot be adequately accounted for by my tentative thesis? How can I explain the mismatches between my thesis statement and my selected evidence? How can I rewrite my thesis statement in order to accommodate the evidence that doesn't fit? This practice of constantly readjusting the thesis statement to match the evidence and analysis will

It may seem like a hassle to make your own, but in reality it is not that difficult. You will also be more satisfied in the quality and taste of your lasagna if you make it yourself. It's a great meal to share with your family or just to save in the refrigerator and eat throughout the week. If you are conscious about your health this lasagna will be good to make because it uses chicken not meat. After the noodles are fully cooked drain them with your strainer and set them aside. Also drain the chicken, leaving the onion and garlic in the pot because you won't need them after that. When the chicken cools off start shredding it into the other bowl you brought out. Mix in the marina sauce with the shredded chicken until the chicken is evenly coated. You've prepared your ingredients now it's time to put everything together. No lasagna looks perfect so instead of trying to make it look perfect, focus on getting as much pasta, chicken and cheese as you can in there. Prepare your pan by spraying it with cooking spray so nothing sticks. Start off by laying down three or four (depending on your pan size) noodles diagonally down into your pan. Grab the ricotta cheese mixture and evenly spread it on the noodles. After the noodles are covered with cheese begin to spread the chicken and marina sauce on top of the cheese. Finally, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the chicken then repeat the previous four steps until there is no room left in the pan. Once your pan is completely full cover it tightly in foil paper, and put it in the oven. Let the lasagna cook for about an hour, then remove the foil and put it back into the oven for about ten minutes. Once the lasagna is done cooking take it out, let it cool, and then serve it.
