2. Rise to Parrdom is a film about the grammy-award winning Parr
Street Studios – the UK’s biggest recording studios outside of London.
The main aim visually is to capture the main rooms of the famous
setting where acts such as The Stone Roses have recorded, and
discuss with the engineers how the studios were saved from
demolition in 2006.
3. Long term, we envisage this short documentary to be shown on trans-
media platforms such as 4od, Sky Arts or the Sheffield Documentary
Festival.
In short term we plan to upload the documentary to social media
websites such as Youtube or Vimeo and converging with Facebook
and Twitter. This way we can gain a local following from friends and
peers.
4. Stylistically we plan to use a tracking dolly and record footage onto a
Canon 70D and XF100, using one camera primarily for typical
interview framing to capture the interviewee in a musically-
orientated background, and another for potential close-ups of faces,
giving the documentary a more experimental style. In terms of a
soundtrack, we will try to gain permission for music made in the
studios. As a back-up we will begin to produce our own instrumental
music before going to Liverpool if we know we don’t have
permission.
As a further aim we will find out if Parr Studios has influenced the
city of Liverpool in any way, and how the change from analogue to
digital recording has affected the procedures of the studio. These
cultural and historical contexts should create a nostalgic mood of the
film which we hope the audience will evoke.

8. This idea is a film which explores fellow
students making their own documentaries,
creating a narrative based on the problems and
solutions they face.
We believe the main objective of this is for
viewers to see the process of film students
making their work.
Hopefully this will reach an international
audience because "what do film students really
get up to?"
