Wisdom for Entrepreunership
1.
2. Silicon Valley certainly has a reputation for
innovation and risk. Yet, what about faith?
Businesses designed not only to innovate, but to
pursuing business as an “intimate” adventure with
God? That seems unlikely.
3. There are ways of being both a shrewd entrepreneur
in Silicon Valley and being grounded in faith.
4. Believing that there exists a creational view of
business, one can focus on human flourishing by
developing applications about health or wellness.
Instead of asking for guidance of stakeholder, one
can aim asking for guidance of God. This is all part of
individual pursuit of truth. We need to pursue the
adventure of growing intimate with God as growing
in this is worth trial and error. Trying to make
decisions based on God’s leading should become the
main mission of such enterprises based on faith.
5. This would not mean running an Islamic company
per se, even if such a thing may exist. Despite the
high failure rate for enterprises, creativity and
boldness are part of the “package” of business.
Muslims should try to figure out ways to harness
human creativity in a way that will better lives, and
acknowledge that their faith feeds this.
6. We should make the purpose of business to make
communities to flourish, and to create opportunities
for people to express their God-given capacities in
meaningful and purposeful ways.
7. The Islamic field of activity is the world. It is here
that Muslims are to become engaged, are to work
and be active, here that they are to do the will of
God; and for that reason, Muslims are not resigned
pessimists, but are those who while admittedly not
expecting much from the world are for that very
reason already joyous and cheerful in the world, for
that world is the seedbed of eternity.
8. Here is to the entrepreuneurs: may they continue to
flourish.
