Bottle gourd kootu
1. Sorrakkai Kootu or Bottle Gourd Kootu
Ingredients
250 gmsBottle Gourd Peeled and Diced
50 gms BengalGram Dal
30 gms Split Moong Dal
100 gmsCoconutgrated
20 gms Fresh Green chili
3 gms Cumin seeds
3 gms Turmeric powder
25 gms Clarified Butter or Gheel
3 gms Mustard seeds
A Sprig of Curry leaf
5 gms Dry Red Chili
10 gms Fresh Coriander Leaves
Pinch Asafoetida
Salt to Taste
Procedure
In a heavy Bottom pan add the washed lentils and diced bottle gourd with enough
water salt and turmeric.
Heat Clarified butter or ghee in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, add curry leaf, dry
red chili and grated coconut .Add to cooked lentils and bottle gourd .
Finish with asafetida and chopped coriander leaves.
