1. I used Photo Shop to edit my photo for my double page
spread. Firstly, I cropped the Image to enhance the rule of
thirds technique and also illuminate the black wall which
was not meant to be in shot. I chose the composition to be
a mid shot as I didn’t want to focus to much on other parts
of the body on the subject as the face, hand and guitar are
the most important elements. I zoomed in close to the
subjects face and used the healing brush tool to get rid of
any flaws to guarantee the photo appears flawless like a
real magazine. I similarly accustomed the hue and
saturation to make her slightly paler and make her
blemishes disappear. I used the vignette effect to create a
glow around the subject which gradually gets darker. This
glow creates an empowerment and seriousness around the
photo and represents the genre of rock and the type of
representation I was trying to achieve of the subject. I think
the depth of field in this photo is really quirky and brings
edge to my magazine as the subjects hand is out of focus. I
achieved this by putting the camera in manual mode and
adjusting the lens to get this depth of field. Within the Mise
En Scene, the subject is wearing a black dress and red
lipstick. These bold colours are symbolic for danger and
love. This is relevant to the genre of my music magazine;
Rock. The red targets the male audience as it creates a
sexual atmosphere especially with the use of direct
address. The guitar could be represented as quite indie
therefore I told the subject to position it behind her head as
though she was throwing it to bring back the rock and roll
touch. The guitar strings are also springing off slightly
which suggests the guitar has been threw around and this
also emphasises the genre and the stereotypical
representation of people in a rock band. Her hair is tied
back in a high pony tail which represents a strong women. I
think this photo works well for my double page as it allows
negative space on the left side to put my text and it suits
my house style colours of red and black.
