• The electrical and industrial electronics industry has witnessed a 13%
growth in Q4 of FY 2014-15. The overall growth of the industry is 9.98% in
this fiscal.
•The major drivers in this growth are Cables & Conductors, LV and HV
switchgear, while Power transformers and LT Motors continue to show
declining trend
•Electric equipment industry contributes over 2 per cent of GDP which is
expected to rise to around 12 per cent in 2013
• Continues its leadership in 765kV and 400kV segment and serves the
national grid as well.
 Engine trouble at CG
• In FY14, the company has been a victim of the economic
downturn in the global market.
• Some plants faced problems such as the Canadian facility at
Winnipeg” and “the distribution transformer business also
faced headwinds in terms of orders due to subdued economic
activity in Europe.
 Demerger formula unfair to Investors (Oct ’14)
• Proposed demerger of its consumer products business and
claim of creating more value for all shareholders has come
under criticism from experts who feel that it is a negative for
minority shareholders and promotes promoter control of the
firm.
