TWITTER,
INSTAGRAM
AND
FACEBOOK
Short films normally rely on simple ways to
attract support for their films. This is because
short films tend to be low budget. Therefore
one of the easiest yet effective ways it to use
popular social networking sites. We have
chosen to use Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram. They all have different uses and
ways that will attract our target audience.
After doing some research I
found other short films that
were on these sites. I have
added screen shots to show
how other people are using
these sites the same way that
we are, to promote their short
films.

TWITTER
• Twitter is an important site to share information.
• It encourages you to share information in under 40 characters
meaning that you include the most important information in your
tweet
• People can retweet our tweets meaning that more and more people
will know about our short film
• The hashtag is important for finding specific things. We have used
the hashtag CHECKOUT so that people know about our short film
• You can favourite tweets to show that you like or support something
• Along with these things you have a profile where you can customise
your page. Our page includes pictures from our short film
• Finally you can share your twitter feed onto other websites meaning
that your tweets can be viewed other places rather than twitter
which is helpful to pass on information about the film.
FACEBOOK• Facebook allows you to connect with people all around the world.
• Along with making your own profile you can also create a ‘page.’ This is
what we have done for our short film
• On Facebook you can like and comment to things. This means that
people can like our photos to show an interest in our film. They can also
comment to do the same thing.
• We can upload photos to our page. We have done this on our page to
show ‘behind the scenes’ of making Checkout. This will make people
more interested to see what we have been doing.
• Along with this you have a cover photo and a profile photo. We have set
these to screenshots from the film that seem to signal what the film is
about. The profile pictures is of the protagonist holding her books
(signalling she likes reading) and the cover photo clearly shows flowers
in the foreground (there is a romantic storyline)
• Facebook allows people to like our page showing the amount of support
that we have for our film.
INSTAGRAM• Instagram is used to share photos to other people
• You follow different accounts and they post specifically photos.
Although you can caption your photos, many people use
photos to speak for them.
• Instagram is important for getting our film out to the public as it
is slightly different from Facebook and Twitter as it is purely for
pictures.
• This means that we can promote our film via loads of pictures.
Normally people would much rather look at an image than
read.
• This means that it is more likely for people to take more
interest in our Instagram page.
• Like Twitter and Facebook however you can comment and like
photos meaning that we see the amount of support we are
receiving and this also allows us to gain feedback.
• Along with this there is also the hashtag feature to promote a
certain word or phrase on the networking app.
