ABOUT
For more than 30 years, the ARTBA
Transportation Development
Foundation (TDF) has “promoted
research, education and public
awareness.” Today, the Foundation’s
Board of Trustees and staff annually
execute a comprehensive, multi-million
dollar program of work that is aimed at
educating the public and elected leaders
about the many benefits of
transportation improvements and the
need to significantly boost those
investments to meet future U.S.
economic and mobility demands.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT,
EDUCATION & TRAINING
The ARTBA-TDF offers a variety of professional development, training and safety
services for industry executives and many feature Professional Development Hours
(PDHs). Among them:
TRANSPORTATION BUILDER INSTITUTE™
“I would like to express my gratitude for
the excellent safety training class that
ARTBA’s Omar Lopez presented to our
company. We have been members of
ARTBA for many years and our
membership has been very good for us.
With instructors like Omar, we will seek
out more services in the future.”
—Mike Alex, owner/vice president, Cook Paving
“The trainers we have had from ARTBA
have been great to work with when
conducting the OSHA 10-Hour, and
Preventing Runovers and Backovers
courses. The grants allow front line and
supervisory staff to take advantage of
these trainings that may not have been
otherwise available.”

VIRTUAL CONFERENCE FOR TRANSPORTATION
OFFICIALS
Established in 2012, the Local Transportation Management
& Safety Virtual Conference (LōTransTM
) is hosted by the
ARTBA Foundation and the National Work Zone Safety Infor-

platform to deliver to federal, state, and local transportation
officials and industry executives free educational sessions.
DR. J. DON BROCK TRANSOVATION WORKSHOP™
Named after the pioneering founder of Astec Industries, a
worldwide company based in Tennessee, TransOvationTM

INDUSTRY LEADER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Established in 1995 as the “Young Executive Development
Program” (YEDP) and rebranded in late 2015 as the Industry
Leader Development Program (ILDP) as recommended by a
task force of the association’s next generation of leaders, this
annual program in Washington, D.C. provides a solid
understanding of industry’s economics… how transportation
work in the U.S. is funded and financed… how actions by the
federal government impact the industry… and how they—and
their company or agency—can become politically engaged to
help shape transportation policy. ILDP participants also

under a federal contract, ARTBA-TDF
has managed the LTAP/TTAP
Clearinghouse operations. The centers
enable local counties, parishes,
townships, cities and towns to improve
their roads and bridges by supplying
them with a variety of training
programs, new and existing technology
updates, personalized technical
assistance and newsletters.
