TECHNICAL TEACHER TRAINING
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION
The process by which a sender wishes to
impart some information on to another
person called the receiver using a medium.
Within the teacher-learning context, these
roles are interchanged between the
lecturer/teacher and learners/trainees – since
both have information to impart
Is communication using graphic elements
inclusive of symbols such as glyphs
and icons, images such as drawings and
photographs; along with passive
contributions of substrate, color and
surroundings (i.e, within science/technology)
It is the process of creating, producing, and
distributing material incorporating words and
images to convey data, concepts,
and emotions.
1. PHOTOGRAPHS 2. TIMELINES
3. POSTERS 4. CHARTS 5. DIAGRAMS
PHOTOGRAPHS
• Photographs are the most realistic and dramatic
representation of physical features. In a good
photograph the reader can see exactly what the writer is
talking about.
 TIMELINE• A timeline is a way of displaying a list of
events in chronological order, sometimes described as a
project artifact.
 POSTERS• A poster is any piece of printed
paper designed to be attached to a wall or
vertical surface. Typically posters include both
textual and graphic elements, although a
poster may be either wholly graphical or wholly
text.
 CHARTS• A chart is a graphical representation of
data, in which "the data is represented by
symbols, such as bars in a bar chart, lines in a
line chart, or slices in a pie chart.
 DIAGRAMS• A diagram is a symbolic
representation well-suited to the
presentation of ideas.
 DRAWINGS• Drawing is a form of visual art
that makes use of any number of drawing
instruments to mark a two- dimensional
medium. Common instruments include
graphite pencils, pen and ink etc.
Some of the common tools used to foster
graphics production such as word processor
software, desktop publishing software, and
image manipulation software.
When it comes to quick, clear communication,
VISUALS trump text almost every time!!
Presented with the following textual and visual
information, would you pet this dog?
Without a doubt, oral communication is
enhanced when visual aids are used. It’s
important to pair the correct visual aid with
the type of oral information presented
The very same visual elements that we are
indelibly drawn to and so quickly absorb not
only communicate data more efficiently and
effectively but also affect us emotionally. For
instance, research shows that exposure to the
color red can heighten our pulse and
breathing rates!!
If a visual aid is not properly designed for its
intended use and audience, it can lead to a
breakdown in communication. A large
audience requires large images that might be
shown on a screen so they are visible by
everyone. A small audience, such as one that
can be seated around a training station or in
a classroom , can be shown images on a
smaller scale.
Can you see me?
Technology , especially ICT, provides
opportunities to expand your interaction with
students. As with any instructional choice,
each option has trade-offs that you will need
to consider in light of your goals and the
needs of the class.
Before you decide to use technology, you
should ask yourself a simple question:
If I use this technology, will it improve
the quality of student learning?
 ELECTRONIC MAILS
 BULLETIN BOARDS
 SOFTWARE SIMULATIONS
 EDUCATION LEARNING PLATFORMS
 COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING
Technology has led to explosive growth in
the use of graphics to communicate and
understand the world around us.
Within education institutions, the use of
technology in communication and classroom
delivery encourages learners/trainees into
being active participants contributing to their
own learning.
GRAPHICAL COMMUNICATION
IS NEEDED AND ESSENTIAL
USE IT EFFECTIVELY!!
