IV. Arrest
On the Morning of August 4th 1944, the Annex was surrounded by German Police following a tip off from an informer who was never identified. The
Franks including two other families were taken to head quarters where they were interrogated and help over night. On August 5th, they were
transferred to the House of Detention, which was an over crowded prison. After two long days of staying in prison they were then transported to
Westerbork Concentration Camp. Because of going into hiding, the Franks were known as criminal and were sent to the Punishment Barrack for hard
labor.
V. Concentration Camp and Death

On September 3, 1944 the group of Jewish prisoners were deported on what would be the last transport from Westerbork to the Auschwitz
Concentration Camp. They arrived after a three day journey. When they arrived the men were forcibly separated from the women and children. There
was 1091 passengers and 549 including all children were directly sent to the gas chambers. The other females that were not selected for immediate
death, Anne was forced to strip down naked to be disinfected, her head was shaved, and was tattooed with an identification number on her arm.
The women were used as slave labor and Anne was forced to haul rocks and dig rolls of dirt. By night they were crammed into over crowded barracks.

WW2 and the Holocaust. Throughout her childhood, her and her father Otto, her mother Edith, and her older sister Margot, lived generally
carefree lives in the German city, Frankfurt am Main. Growing up she was raised as a liberal Jew, and her and her family typically didn't follow

young girl that explains how her and her family were affected by the Holocaust. Anne spent her days living in constant fear of being discovered,
but she still had hopes about what life would be like after the war. She could not go outside and had to remain quiet during the working hours to
avoid being discovered by the workers. However, she knew that living in the annex was better than the alternative which was to go to a
concentration camp. Anne considers her family lucky to live in the annex because they have more freedom than they would in other circumstances.
First of all, Anne and her family would not have been able to hide without the help of Otto's colleagues that were willing to risk their lives to protect
their friend and his family. Before the family moved into the annex, Mr. Kraler, Koophuis, Miep, and Elli worked with Otto to put this plan together
and then helped to carry it out. First, they prepared the annex by taking necessities like furniture and food as well as other personal possessions that
would help to make hiding less dreadful. Then, after the family moved in, Otto's colleagues continued to help by getting the rations, run Otto's
business, told the news that related to the war, and simply just brought joy to them all. The young girl knew that none of this could have been possible
without these four people. Otto's colleagues were the reason that the family was able to go into hiding (Frank). Since the family was able to go into
hiding, they could remain together. Anne's parents knew that Margot would be getting a call–up soon, so they knew that they had to be ready to go
into hiding at anytime. "When we were alone in our bedroom, Margot told me that the call–up was not for Daddy, but for her. I was more frightened

As you are introduced to the story of Anne Frank, you meet many characters with distinct personalities. The one character with the most contrasting
personality is Anne Frank. Above anyone else, Anne is always cheerful and positive despite the awful situation she's in. Throughout the book, you
see how Anne matures into a young woman. All of the other characters are very different from Anne, but the most opposite would be Peter. Peter
is a sixteen year old boy who isn't very social, positive, or cheerful such as Anne. He doesn't want any attention or friends. He refers to himself as a
"lone wolf", as seen on page 355. Peter replies to Anne "I'm sort of a lone wolf." Peter isn't very fond of Anne, and admits that when he first knew

her other friends at school. Her optimistic personality, however, aggravates many others. Due to the situation they're in, the Van Daans especially
get irritated by her joyfulness, and wonder how she can be so happy. Many question if Anne understands the danger they're in, and maybe are even
jealous they can't be s positive as her. Anne, with no friends to keep her occupied, tries to make friends with Peter, who clearly isn't interested.
Throughout the story, Anne matures into a young woman, and Peter opens up to her starting on page 393. Peter comforts Anne, and compliments her
to make her feel better. This is the start of their relationship. The two slowly come together as friends, and eventually something a bit more. With
Anne not as annoying anymore, Peter grows to really like her, and even love her. However, it seems as many people, specifically the Van Daans,

Otto owned a spice and canning buisness that was not far from there house. At Ottos office, it had a very interesting way it was built. When you
would walk up the stairs to where the Secret Annexe (the place the Franks stayed) there would be a bookshelf covering a door that led to a
