When parents and family members repeat the process of saying please and thank you around the

Early childhood development is such an intriguing aspect to research because this is really a point in
life where children act without reasoning and logic skills. The actions and thinking patterns for two
to six year olds is not wrong, it is just illogical and children these ages cannot perform while
thinking about a larger perspective other than themselves; which also makes this so fascinating. In
my research and observations, I focused on how children during this developmental stage act and
not so much about the cognition and processing a child does to make them behave in these certain

The class was working on the letter 'U' that day. I noticed some of them started the letter from the
right side instead of the left. The teacher was unable to notice that as they were walking around.
Communication was another topic area that was focused on. Kayla did show signs of good
communication skills. I didn't get to witness them first hand, because she was too shy to talk to me.

gain a sense of self, they begin to become more emotionally aware. Through this development,

As a child we all had someone in our lives that has motivated us in a direction toward a negative or
positive manner. For many children that someone has been their coach through youth sports. No
matter what sport a person played as a child, their coach has played a big role in their childhood
development. Coaching can impact a child's development in a negative or positive way depending

While taking this course I believe I will have the opportunity to build a foundation of my knowledge

obesity poses the threat of chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, joint problems, and

organisation that they need. It's also in some children's nature to be shy and reserved. It's important
for all students to be improving their skills but most important for the more reserved children.
Inactivity will only perpetuate their shyness because they are missing out on group activities in a fun
environment. Being a part of a team helps confidence and communication with their peers. Children
need to embrace being active from early on – especially now as their bodies crave being active they
will associate 'activity' with 'fun'. Inability to develop their gross motor skills can lead to the
