Popup Camper Research Paper
After twenty–two years of marriage and tent camping, we finally upgraded to a popup camper,
which is considered to be "entry level" to travel trailers. We loved that popup camper (Note: Any
time I say "we loved," please understand I am excluding my daughter). For the first time in our
camping lives we had air conditioning, running water, light that did not come from a flame, and
although it was not much softer than the ground we had slept on for years, we had a bed off the
ground. For the first time, we did not have to worry about a squirrel or skunk gnawing a hole in the
side of the tent to get at the potato chips one of the kids had left on the tent floor. We actually had a
place we could plug in a small heater during colder months without ... Show more content on

It was perfect! It had a full kitchen, a queen size bed, a dinette table that dropped down to make an
extra bed if needed, and a full bath with a shower that had hot water. However, we quickly learned
that rarely would it be just the two of us camping. All six grandchildren decided they wanted to go
camping! As much as we were thrilled the grandkids wanted to camp with us, we realized two things
quickly: first, there was barely enough room in our small travel trailer for us much less six extra
little energetic bodies, and second, there was no way in Hades that we were going to be trapped in a
tin can with six wild Indians. We upgraded again! Because we were still cheap, we bought another
"entry level" travel trailer, but at least this time it was longer and had bunk beds. We also decided for
our sanity that we would take no more than two grandchildren on any camping trip. However,
shortly after getting the new camper, we caved in and took three of the mud–slugs with us camping,
and thereby, shot that resolution to hell. But, that's really a good thing. Camping is a lot like Disney
World; it's the smile on children's faces that make it so special, especially if the faces belong to your

Novice Campers And Camping Checklist Essay
Novice Campers, as well as seasoned campers, should prepare a camping checklist of the gear that
they should include when packing for a camping trip. It is easy to get side tracked and possibly
forget important items without a checklist.
Sometimes it is easy to have a laps in concentration and simply not include small items that are none
the less important. If you have a standard "Camping Checklist" it will help insure you have a safe
and happy camping trip, because you will feel confident knowing you have included all necessary
gear you will need while on your trip.
As a seasoned outdoorsman I have been on hundreds of camping trips and until I actually sat down
and made my Camping Checklist I was always forgetting something. I am going to provide you with
a gear checklist to help get you started. I hope this checklist will keep you organized as you pack for
your trips.
Camping Checklist Outline, for Happy Campers!
Camping Gear:

stakes.

Sleeping Bag(s) – Be sure to include sleeping bags for each person that is going on the trip.
Lanterns & Flashlights – Remember to take extra lantern fuel as well as Batteries if needed.

Kayak Fishing Camping Trip Tips (951 Words)
Whether you want to spend more time at your favorite fishing spot or finally have time to make a
trip to explore some new lakes or rivers, there's nothing quite like a kayak fishing camping trip. Not
only do they offer a great excuse to fish to your heart's content, but you also get to spend more time
in the great outdoors. However, combining kayak fishing with camping means you need to spend a
lot more time on preparation, especially if you are far from home. Unless you want to discover that
you've left behind something essential take note of the following tips to ensure that your kayak
fishing camping trip goes smoothly.
1. Do Your Research
A kayak fishing camping trip is exciting, but make sure that you do all your research before diving
in headfirst. This means checking whether camping is allowed in the area you want to visit, what the
best times of the year are for camping there and what the weather will be like during your stay. As
disappointing as it might be, it is better to cancel your trip if stormy weather is predicted instead of
thinking of just braving it.
2. Only Bring The Essentials
As important as it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes it a lot easier to pack everything efficiently, but it also means you have to spend less
time rummaging around inside bigger bags to find what you need. It is also a good idea to categorize
everything first before packing, so you won't end up searching for the toilet paper in the electronics
bag or have to dig in the toiletries bag looking for dry food bars. Color coding your bags works the
best and make sure to distribute the weight of the bags properly when loading them in your kayak.
No matter how good you are at Tetris, stacking things up on your deck is not a good idea as it causes
more wind resistance and impacts the

A Not-so-Secret Escape
A Not–So–Secret Escape If you were to ask someone twenty years ago what camping is all about,
they would immediately tell you about campfires, sleeping bags, and how the stars shine brightly at
night. However, today's outlook on camping has changed completely. It involves a motor home
which includes a kitchen and a modern day shower located on a campground just a few feet away
from access to the Internet. Sure it is nice not to have to leave anything behind while on your
camping trip, but you're really not camping. Real camping is dirty, simple, and breathtaking. It
involves sleeping on the ground with just a thin layer separating you from the freezing, soft soil
filled with insects ready to climb on top of your warm body. Camping is taking hour long walks,
exploring the scenery that surrounds you while avoiding the dangers in the forest. To experience real
camping, one should work hard for their food, warmth, and comfort. Even though camping in a four
wheeled home with all the daily amenities is easier than camping that involves secluding yourself in
the middle of the forest, it doesn't reveal one of camping's greatest attributes: an escape from the
busy society in which we live today. As a kid, I never really enjoyed going camping with my family.
The way I looked at it, it took away time from my games and the luxury of indoor plumbing. I could
not see the joy in being outside for a week without taking a shower and being surrounded by pesty
insects. However, I

The word lost was becoming more operative by the moment. The morning 's ice fishing over at
nearby North Pond had been fine. After I ate my fish cakes back in my cabin at Mohawk Mountain,
heat radiating from the wood stove, I 'd felt warm enough to peel down to a t–shirt and read. That
was this morning.
The night before I 'd wandered the forest 's central fire roads savoring the night air and watching the
shadows my headlamp cast into the woods. One can relax well in the woods in winter at night: that
soothing sense of aloneness you feel at night under a canopy of stars in the winter.
Now I was stumbling around through the snow–filled woods, bushwhacking. I was searching for the
route to either Adams or North Adams, whichever came first, map in one hand, orienteering
compass in the other, as I took in the woods ' contours, trail bends, and ice–covered stream beds.
Where the heck was I?
Back in the cabin awaited two panfish in a cooler, a steak too if I wanted it, and a block of blue
cheese big the size of housebrick. What I wanted was the trail called Blackburnian Loop. As for
where I was –––
BINGO!
there it was: the beaver dam and trail I recognized from a trip here last year.
Yes. Once again I 'd successfully made it back from one of my classic lost–in–the–woods hikes. I
thumped back into the cabin, lit the stove, took off my wet socks and sweater, and lifted from my
cooler the bigger fish. I cleaned it, pan fried it, ate it, and settled back in the chair with my

Descriptive Essay : A Personal Narrative : The Day Of Camping
It's finally happening! Today's the day we will begin our adventure! You and your buds finally get to
leave the cold and boulders of snow behind and go camping where it's warm and sunny. You guys
and all packed up with shorts and tanktops. After five hours of driving, making four stops to ask for
directions and buy snacks, your group finally reaches the destination and it's nothing you expected.
Instead of the warm sunny place Alison from the grocery store told you she visited, there ended up
being a rainstorm and it was freezing! It's too cramped up in the truck to sit there and wait it out, so
everyone pitches in to set up the tent. After pulling everything out and starting to put pieces together,
you realize Grandpa John let you borrow a tent that was missing the most essential piece, the tarp
that surrounds you, sheltering you from the cold hard raindrops pelting your face. That's the end of
it, all your excitement and waiting for a great weekend, turns into seven antsy people piled into a SX
Person car thinking about what they could have done to avoid this. You could have had a set up tent
relaxing and warm under all the blankets you had in the back. Instead of everyone crammed in a
very small vehicle. All the excitement lead to a group of people who were lacking the knowledge on
how to successfully prepare for a camping trip. But that's over and done with, all you can do now is
find a location, check the weather, gather and double check all your camping

Vacation Vs My Dream Vacation
My Typical Vacation vs. My Dream Vacation
I take a vacation every year, and every year it's the same thing – a week of camping at a campground
one hour from our home. But I dream of a vacation in which I take a cruise to some exotic location
or stay at an all–inclusive resort on an island where I can be pampered and thrilled at the same time.
Both of these vacations are good, and both certainly offer me time away from work in which I can
have a respite from impending deadlines, a demanding boss, and grumbling clients. In addition, both
can even offer me the outdoor time soaking up the natural world my spirit seems to need. And to be
clear, family memories, which are so important to me, can be made on both vacations. Yet, the
differences between my dream vacation and my typical camping vacation are distinct, which is why
I still yearn for that dream vacation that I have yet to take.
To begin with, both vacations are different in purpose. We go camping because it is inexpensive;
raising children costs money, and camping is an inexpensive yet fun way for us to make family
memories yet still afford things for the children like nice clothes, extracurricular activities like
football and piano lessons, and fun activities like going bowling with friends. The cost of a camping
vacation is minimal, particularly if we use the same supplies year after year. We sleep on the ground
in a tent we have used for ten years. We cook our own food over a campfire, and our daily

Comparing John Muir And Theodore Roosevelt's Camping Trip...
John Muir and Theodore Roosevelt went on a camping trip in Yosemite Valley. They went in March
of 1903. They planned a camping trip because they planned to preserve nature in Yosemite Valley.
For thirty years John Muir has tried to persuade people to preserve the area but it wasn't easy. Soon
enough he got a letter from Roosevelt saying he wanted to go on a camping trip with just Muir.
According to Fleming ¨ Roosevelt already expressed his outrage over destruction of the
wilderness.¨. Muir agreed to guide Roosevelt. Roosevelt was dazzled by Yosemite Valley that he
went on to give a speech saying ¨The sequoias deserve protection, simply because it would be a
shame to let them disappear.¨ according to Fleming. When Roosevelt went to california

Essay On The Galapago Trip
Off–the–Beaten Path Galapagos trips are rare; the restrictions in place pretty much rule them out.
Any incursion into the Galapagos National Park is done with a certified guide, boats are limited to
stopping at each visitor site once in a fourteen day period and the notion of setting off on your to
parts unknown independently is distinctly and absolutely frowned upon.
While being saddled with a guide and limitations that prohibit independent travel is disconcerting to
many, the advent of a new twist on an old tradition offers relief to those is search of a trail blazing
adventure.

This adventure led me to update a guidebook, manage a non–profit travel club and through a maze
of places that didn't make the cut. Needless to say, my latest discovery is worth its salt and deserving
of the time it takes to finish this article.
Conventional wisdom about the Galapagos dictates that trips are taken on boats, more islands are
accessible in a limited amount of time. This way of thinking isn't easily changed, but making a
decision to take a land–based trip just makes sense. Time is spent getting to know the islands from a
hands on perspective, seeing the uninhabited destinations by day and spending the nights in the
natural surroundings. Adding a different element to the trip and bringing the environment to life.
Michael and Stephanie Mesdag realized this while on vacation. A trip into the highlands of Santa
Cruz led them to a farm for sale next to the National Park border. The subsequent purchase made
way for two years of camping on the property while getting to know the islands culturally and
planning an environmentally friendly way to open up the Galapagos to a safari

Why Is Glamping So Much Fun?
Why is Glamping so Much Fun?
If you've never been glamping, you may wonder what exactly this activity entails and why it is such
a popular trend. This kind of trip differs from camping in a few very fundamental ways. If you're the
type of person who enjoys nature – but you cannot imagine being without certain conveniences for
more than several hours – then glam camping may be the perfect choice for you.
Glamping Is Simply More Comfortable
If backpacking after a 10–mile hike and sleeping in the open air make you feel uneasy, you might
want to organize a glamping trip instead. Instead of shivering under the stars, you and your
companions can sleep in small domes that will afford you the luxury and privacy you crave.

A Brief Note On Wildfires And Its Effects On The Environment
Every year, thousands of forest or wildfires are caused by humans, which affect thousands and
thousands of acres of land and wildlife all over the United States. Many of these fires that are caused
by human error or negligence, occur at many of the beautiful camp sites, that are located around the
country. In these cases, these fires not only affect the land and the wildlife, it puts the lives of other
camper 's, in jeopardy as well. Especially since with wild or forest fires, there is no way of telling
how fast, or what location the fire will spread to. That is just on top of the issue, that most of these
locations are remote, which can limit the options that emergency service personal (such as
firefighters) have to use to fight them. These fires can be started in many ways, such as unattended
or out of control camp fires, improper placement of grills, discarding of used coals in hazardous
areas, unsafe or use of fireworks in forested area, etc. But, there is an upside to the situation, since in
many cases you can help prevent them from happening at all. All it takes, is for campers to be
responsible by following the proper safety procedures when using any flammable items, and the
proper knowledge and equipment needed in case a fire may start (if fire is out of control and you are
putting yourself or others on danger by attempting to put it out, get yourself and everyone in the area
to a safe location, and contact the proper authorities immediately). So the next time you

bond with their family members and friends in a pleasurable manner. Just as other activities, though,
this one requires the proper planning for it to go smoothly for the participants. When people ignore

Dome Tents
There are many different types of camping tents, and the tent that you choose will depend heavily on
the type of camping that you will be doing. The tent that you choose for a family vacation will likely
differ from the tent that you would choose to take with you on a hiking trip. Before deciding on a
tent, you should first ask yourself what you will need from the tent that you choose. Will you be
constantly putting it up and taking it down on a hiking trip? If so, you should try to find a camping
tent that is easily set up, and easily taken down to save yourself some time. There are many different
styles of camping tents;

As per the name, these tents usually have a large frame that is held together by poles and ties
throughout. Early frame tents were known to be very heavy, but recent innovations have made them
quite light, and very easy to transport from one location to another. These tents are among the
hardest tents to set up, and you should always ensure that you have enough time int he day left to
put the tent up while there is still day light. These tents have a large amount of space inside of the
tent, and do not use up as much ground area as larger dome tents.
Ridge Tents
Ridge tents are generally used by one person, and are not ideal for families. These tents are among
the easiest to set up, and are often used by hikers and campers who will be moving locations
frequently during their hike. They are shaped like a wedge, with the larger end being near the
entrance, and the slimmer end near the back end of the tent. They can hold as many as three people,
but it is recommended that one to two people sleep in ridge tents.
The camping tent that you choose should depend heavily upon the type of camping that you plan to
do. Your tent is your home base and your shelter, so it is important that you choose a tent that is
large enough, and easy enough for you to carry from one location to another if need

parents the look of like say something so she doesn't come with us. My mom told me that she

nothing bad can happen, nor I would get in trouble with going with my cousins without telling my

Persuasive Essay About Camping
Being outdoors is an amazing solution to spending time with family and friends. It is a fun approach
to mingling and enjoying quality time with them. In addition to that, you are outside spending time
in nature. Taking a break from your everyday life to enjoy what mother nature provides for us, has
many advantages. But, before you start heading to the campground, you should know of all the
positive aspects that you will get once you get outdoors.
It is important to have good company in order to make the camping trip worthwhile and full of
memory–making opportunities. It can also be great for those who prefer to have some peace and
quiet time alone. This also gives us a moment to witness and experience nature first hand, and to
take a break from all the distractions of the faster pace lifestyle. Camping is an opportunity to get
away from the usual day to day routine and to get involved with something new and exciting.
Although most people might think that going on a camping trip is too much of a hassle and a time
consuming activity, there are several tips from camping experts and enthusiasts on how to make the
camping experience easy and enjoyable. Camping should be thoroughly executed in order to prevent
speed bumps from turning into full blown issues along the way. When all the check lists and to do
lists are executed properly, campers can truly maximize the overall positive outcome of the camping
experience.
The right gear, the right protection, and a menu of a healthy variety of foods should be considered
when going on a camping trip. You should make sure your personal information is up to date and
inform close friends or family of your trip. Bringing the right type of equipment such as flashlights,
sleeping bags, emergency kit, protection, using the right and comfortable backpack, wearing the
right footwear and clothes, etc. are all essential to enjoying and feeling secured during whole
experience.
It is true that you do not have to take a lavish vacation to wind down and take a load of your
shoulders. Of course, you can witness the great outdoors and enjoy the beauty it possesses. Also,
more and more people are temporarily ditching the electronics and taking advantage of all the
benefits that camping

Tent Camping Advantages And Disadvantages
What provides better shelter during a camping trip, a hammock or a tent? If you were to ask a casual
camper, they'd probably tell you a tent. For experienced campers, however, it isn't quite so easy to
arrive at a decision. You see, both hammock and tent camping have their pros and their cons, so
trying to declare one as absolutely better than the other is a fool's game.
Today, we're going to be playing the fool, so you don't have to.

A quality camping hammock will last you for a couple of years and will be backed by a warranty of
some sort, but time will eventually take its toll and it will succumb to wear and tear far sooner than a
quality tent.
Conclusion
There are a significant number of reasons to purchase a tent instead of a camping hammock. The
only problem is that there are also a significant number of reasons to purchase a camping instead of
a tent. Both have their supporters and detractors, all of whom are capable of making excellent
arguments to support their cause.
If you're planning a camping trip with a couple of friends and are able to convince them all to chip
in a couple of dollars towards shetler, there really isn't any reason not to go with a tent. A decent tent
will give you the space you need and will utilize superior ventilation to ensure things don't get too
stuffy. A tent remains a viable option if you're camping alone or with one other person, but if you
want to keep costs to a minimum or want to build a more personal relationship with Mother Nature,

A Trip On A Family Vacation At California, Disneyland, The...
I've been on a family vacation for ten days that included a road trip to California, Disneyland, the
beach, and a family reunion camping trip. It was a pretty ambitious trip and has provided an
interesting reflection on budgeting – budgeting time, budgeting money, and budgeting food. I read
an article recently that said the biggest reason people are late is that they are too optimistic. I
laughed out loud when I read that. I so often optimistically try to fit in one more thing before I leave
and then end up leaving late or I get too optimistic about there not being any traffic and then I am
shocked when I hit traffic and arrive late. Truly budgeting time in a way that makes me not late
means budgeting for contingencies, allowing room for things to go wrong, and knowing everything
will not go as planned, but still being able to arrive on time. I have to put extra time into my time
budget, or I run out of time too soon.
I think the same is true for food and money too. I have to plan for contingencies, know everything
will not go as planned, and add in extra room when I can. I took money expert Dave Ramsey's
"Financial Peace University" class just before I left on vacation and so made an effort to budget my
vacation money the way he recommends, using envelopes for each category. I separated our travel
food budget into 10 envelopes, one for each day of the trip, and put cash into each envelope to use
on food each day. What a challenge that has been! There have been meals where

Camping Trip : The Camping Trip
The Camping Trip
"I don't know about this. I mean, I don't know anybody, and I have no idea who's going to be there."
I said, nervously.
"It'll be fun! You'll have a great time!" my parents replied.
"Alright, alright. I'll go." I sighed. It was the first weekend of August 2014, and I was going
camping. My family had recently started going to a new church, and the youth group had invited me
on their annual camping trip. I stood in the church parking lot early Friday morning, duffel bag in
one hand, sleeping bag in the other. Hugging my parents and younger sisters goodbye, I joined the
group of fellow campers. Immediately, I was greeted by an older woman named Zoan.
"Christine! Welcome! Looks like you're the only female youth joining us on this trip, but I hope
we'll be good company!" Zoan reintroduced me to the other adults; her husband Dave, Hana and her
husband Mario, and Laura and her husband Mike. Three boys were also joining us on the trip.
"Okay, everyone! This year we're going to Eleven Mile State Park, so find a leader with space in
their car and let's get going!" Dave announced. I think Hana could tell that I was nervous, and
invited me to ride with her. When we arrived at our destination, I helped unload the supplies. "I'm
glad everyone got here safely, but this is not our campsite," Dave said as he turned and pointed
towards the deep blue lake, "we will actually be canoeing to our home for the weekend." Laura
handed me a life vest and as I strapped it on, I told

Personal Statement : Camping Trip
As I held my hand up high, I looked down at my chest and could see the shine glimmering off of my
new badge. I repeated the oath after my new chief of police, swearing to uphold the law, the
Constitution, and to serve the public. As I said the oath, I looked beyond the chief of police and
could see my parents and I thought about how just years prior we were homeless and now my
accomplishment brought joy to my family. However, the joy from my new career would run out
rather quickly. Before I knew it, I found out that my new career would not last very long as I was
confronted with a department plagued by corruption.
I was ten years old when we left our home state. My father had recently been in two severe car
accidents that had left him physically challenged. Not long after arriving in our new state, my
parents left the apartment we had been staying in so we could go on an extended "camping trip".
The camping trip was last minute since we were evicted from where we had been staying. My
parents were able to gather enough money together and we began to live out of various motels as the
van my parents had was repossessed.
Oddly enough, there was one thing that held my attention and kept me away from getting into any
trouble while homeless, and that was law enforcement. I dreamed of the day that I would become a
police officer. I idolized law enforcement; I thought the uniform looked sharp and I whole heartily
believed in the concepts of helping the innocent and holding

Personal Narrative Personal Essay : My First Camping Trip
I was in the car, on my way to my first camping trip. It was 2013 and at the time, I was going into
the 6th grade. I was not excited to camp out in the wild. I honestly did not even understand why we
were camping, at that age, my thinking was "If we have a perfectly good house, why drive to the
middle of nowhere to sleep in a tent outside surrounded by wilderness?". I was slouched in my seat
playing on my phone the entire drive there, and believe me, it was a long ride. The drive there took
over an hour, it was one of the most boring hours I have ever had to experience. "Where are we
going?" I asked from the backseat. "Old Man's Cave, That's what we settled on.'' my Dad answered.
We were going camping with some family friends, like the paces and the Robinsons. At least there
were going to be other people. Then I would have someone to talk to. "We're here." My dad called I
looked out the window and saw the woods that we were going to be staying in for 3 days. The trees
were so tall I could barely see the top. All the trees were covered with dark green leaves. The air
smelled like, and I know this is going to sound obvious, but it smelled like wilderness. It was like
sniffling a pile of leaves. It had just rained, so it was a little wet. We arrived at the campsite towards
the middle of the day, so it was at peak temperature. "Give me all your technology. We are camping
without electronic distractions." My Mom said with her hand out waiting for our

Persuasive Essay On A Camping Trip
Camping in Alaska, Arizona, and Colorado The wilderness is vast, unforgiving, and beauteous;
those who visit it unprepared find thorns instead of roses, but even as tough as a trip into the wild is,
the pros can be worth the cons. Many venture into camping with no wary thoughts about the dangers
it brings; the wildlife, environment, weather, and location can instantaneously alter your seemingly
perfect trip. Surprisingly, these problems can be avoided, but only through careful planning.
Planning a camping trip revolves around: climate, location, and environment. For example, I would
like to discuss three different places you can camp: Arizona, Colorado, and Alaska. To begin with,
choosing a season like spring, summer or fall can greatly alter the temperature, and also determines
the amount of rain you will experience. Because of its limited rainfall, Arizona is an extremely dry,
arid state. If you arrange to camp there, you would need tools and nutrients fitted for a desert–like
landscape. One of the more important items is water, without it you would be helpless; water is
important no matter where you are, whether a barren desert, or bitter arctic wasteland. There is no
doubt, In the Arizona desert; temperatures of over 125 degrees Fahrenheit have occurred, yet the
average in July and August is commonly found to be around 104 to 107 degrees. Despite the
sweltering temperatures, at night the temperatures lower from approximately 81 to 84 degrees. The

Trip To The Saco River-Personal Narrative
Summer of 2016, a quiet, but exciting time. Fun with friends, bonfires, and oh yeah, bear attacks.
One day in the car on the way to school, my mom told us that we will be going on a trip to the Saco
River with some friends for a week when summer vacation starts. She also said that we would not
be able to bring our phones. Right as she said this, all four of my brothers started to complain. They
hated camping trips, and especially being away from there electronics. They disliked this one a little
more though, because school had just ended, and they would rather be home relaxing. But, I
however was super excited, I loved going camping and was I happy it was in a cabin, we wouldn't
have to wake up in a freezing cold camper or tent like we usually would on a normal camping trip. It

We got there around late afternoon and it was the biggest cabin we ever seen. The driveway was
wide but short, It was made of gravel and dirt, there was also a basketball hoop in the driveway, with
a big garage that was not attached to the house. On the outside of the cabin there was a big porch
with a railing that leads to the back of the cabin. The wood of the cabin was a light brown color,
almost tan, and looked like it was glossed. When we opened the door we all dropped our stuff and
started to explore. When I first walked in I felt a rush of relaxation, all the bad things that were
happening in the world, all my worries and stresses seemed to disappear. When you first walk in you
see a living room area to the left, and a kitchen to the right all in one room. In the kitchen there was
a small eating table, and also bright teal cupboards above the counter tops against the walls
connected to a refrigerator. The living room area had a huge white wrap around couch with a flat
screen tv mounted to the walls. Also in the living room there was a door leading to the porch. Also
on this floor were two bedrooms, one for my parents and one for the other

Keowee–Toxaway State Park is located just outside of the town of Pickens, SC. Nestled into what is
locally referred to as the Cherokee Foothills, Keowee–Toxaway State Park is situated on lands that
were once inhabited by the Cherokee Indians. The Cherokee heritage is honored by an interpretive
center and a short trail through the woods. Both the center and the trail provide a lot of information
on the Cherokee history and way of life. The campground at Keowee–Toxaway State Park is one of
nicest that you will find anywhere. Tent camping is offered on a small forested hill that provides a

While camping is generally an inexpensive way to spend some time outdoors, the simple meals that
follow will can help campers stay to a very minimal budget. It is important for beginner campers to
realize that there are many simple meals that can be made without purchasing specialized camping
cookware (which can be very expensive!). If you don't have any cookware that can be used over an
open fire, check out your local thrift stores for simple cookware that can be used. A frying pan (cast
iron is preferable) and pot for boiling water is enough cookware for most camping trips. There are
also many foods that can be cooked in aluminum foil alone without the use of any other cookware.
Develop meals around the materials that you have and foods that you like to assure an inexpensive
trip. Here are some cheap and easy to make meal ideas to get you started. Pancakes make a cheap
and easy camping breakfast. A plastic drinking cup with a snap on lid is great for mixing the batter
(by shaking the sealed cup) and pouring onto a pan. Instant rice that is made from boiling water is
another inexpensive meal starter. Either eaten alone or with meat and vegetables, instant rice is
filling and very cheap. Other foods made from boiling or hot water that are inexpensive and can be
the basis for cheap camping meals include Ramen Noodles, oatmeal, and instant potatoes. The
campfire baked potato is one food that is cheap and easy to make while

Getting Away And Going Camping With The Family
Getting away and going camping with the family can be a very rewarding time, not to mention a ton
of fun. But if you have a toddler that you must take with you, it will present a set of unique
problems. You will need to keep your toddler occupied, safe, and entertained. Here 's how. 1. Don 't
try and travel too far at one time with a toddler in the car. Three hours of traveling is about the limit
for a toddler. You will then need to stop and get out of the car. Give the toddler some time to move
around a bit and get some fresh air. The exercise will do him good and he may get tired out enough
that he may sleep during the next leg of the trip. Be sure to bring some snack foods with you to give
him something to munch on. 2. Also consider where your toddler will sleep. Is he used to sleeping
on something other than a bed? If he is, then you don 't have anything to worry about. But if he isn
't, then you may need to do some thinking concerning sleeping arrangements. 3. Be careful where
you camp. I don 't think you want to be too close to a lake or pond. Your toddler could wander in
that direction very quickly without you noticing. In fact, you need to keep an eye on him constantly.
There are many hazards in a camping environment that could injure him. 4. Be sure to make the trip
fun for the toddler. Try and arrange things that will be fun for him to do. The lake or pond can be
fun; he just can 't do that by himself. As long as you accompany him and keep a tight grip on his

Why Not Socialism? The Camping Trip
Why Not Socialism?
The Camping Trip In "Why Not Socialism?" (2009), G. A. Cohen provides an explanation and
defense of socialist principles. Cohen describes that there are moments when we will behave like
socialists. He uses a camping trip analogy to demonstrate his argument. Campers will share the
fruits of their labour equally among the rest of the fellow campers. According to Cohen, "our
common aim is that each of us should have a good time" (50). He gives situations where campers
behave like capitalists, such as a man with fishing talents demanding better fish to eat. Cohen
explains that this is undesirable (59). Cohen is seems to discus the worst scenario of capitalism, yet
this is necessary to his argument to promote the socialist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Individual distinctions are only a reflection of differences in "taste and choice, not differences in
natural and social capacities and powers" (62).
There are three types of inequality that are compatible with socialist equality. The first type is the
preference and choice of lifestyle options resulting in inequalities of good, which Cohen finds
unproblematic. The next type is differences in the amount of effort individuals put into their life
chances, and Cohen deems this as only a bit problematic. Cohen has the largest problem with
differences in amounts of chosen option luck (i.e. voluntary gambling). This is a huge flaw of
socialist equality of opportunity. Here, the principle of community is strained.
The Principle of Community
Community is built of two main elements. First, community requires communal caring. Members
need to put themselves in positions where they are able to relate to other members and does
everything "within reasonable limits of self–sacrifice" (65). The second is communal reciprocity.
Individuals will serve other members of the community, not for exchange of goods, but to provide
generosity and support. These elements of community appear in the lives of all individuals, even the
most capitalist ones. Humans are entirely capable of these.
Market Socialism
According to Cohen, economic systems operating on the basis of generosity are not feasible.
Production is driven by greed.

My family and I go on a camping trip to Allegheny State Park every year. We have many funny
memories from the trips. Many of the stories revolve around the bears that live in the mountains in

The camping trip took place in the month of August, just like every year. The trip included my
parents, siblings, and my uncle, aunt and cousins. Every year we rent two cabins right next to each
other. This year the bears were coming up to the cabin a lot. They started to come out about 5 or 6
pm and then look for food. The bears will eat anything. They took poptarts off of the table at the
cabin next to us.

We went on many more camping trips; but never forgot the where my plans were not so complete.
Checklists are good.
It was in the summer of 1999 when my family decided to take a camping trip to Colorado. I was a
typical 15 year old high school student, which meant family vacations were "lame" in my eyes.
We left Kansas City after school one Friday and made our way through the very flat, very
uninteresting state of Kansas. I slept the majority of the drive out to the great land of Colorado. For
the first night of our stay, Dad rented a hotel room since it was dark and too hard to see to pitch the
tent.
The next day, we woke up early and left the hotel to enjoy the scenery. We spent a long day hiking
through the mountains, marveling over the work of years and years – millennia even – to carve out
the intricate patterns and formations of the canyons. As we grew tired and hungry, we decided to
find a camp site and set up camp for the night.
We found a site at the foothills of Pike's Peak. There were pine trees everywhere. The woman from
the Pine–Sol commercial would have considered it her personal heaven. The sky had been relatively
clear all day with only a fluffy cloud or two. However, just as we began unpacking the car, the sky
darkened and the wind picked

wisely. Tent Partners who talk or snore all night are real pests, so choose wisely. 4. Make sure that
you get one of the first sand boards at Little Sahara. Little Sahara is fantastic but standing in line for
a sand board is really boring, try to get to front of the queue. 5. Don't ask for seconds. Asking for
seconds at meal time is big no go because you won't get seconds. 6. Listen during the day if you

Camping Trip Persuasive Essay
'We are going to have so much fun guys!" this was one of many moments when I could confidently
say I don't believe I am my mother's child. She was talking about our upcoming camping trip for
spring break. While my friends went to Florida, South Carolina, and Hawaii, I was stuck driving 12
hours to my parents favorite camping spot in Maine. I can appreciate nature in small doses, yes
butterflies are cute, and waterfalls are beautiful. But I don't do camping. I mean why does anyone?
The bear warnings at the beginning of a camp site should be scary enough. But if that doesn't do it

"I guess you 're rooming with us kiddo!" his smile was probably the worst part of all this. It 's like
the forest was drugs and my dad was a happy addict.
After setting up the tent, our three sleeping bags were laid out. I fought to have the spot beside the
opening for the tent so I could open it if I got hot without stepping over two other bodies.
Now it was dinner time. My dad proudly told the story of his first–time camping, and the hunt he
went on for his dinner. Thankfully, we wouldn't have to hunt down our dinner tonight. We had the
slightly better alternative, canned beans. I lost my appetite looking at the slimy concoction, and let
me not even get started on the flavor.

to cure this homesickness of sorts.
Leaving my tent was hard, thankfully my parents sleep like their hibernating. At home I love to go

of mud caked under them. The twigs and leaves I keep stepping on cause me to jump, I probably

Descriptive Essay About Summer Vacation
In February during spring break, my Dad, nicknamed Moose, arranges a trip to stay on Seagull
Lake. This is not like your ordinary trip; this is winter camping in the Boundary Waters, which
requires hard work, the willingness to help out at all times, and a lot of preparation. This trip
consists of cross country skiing, pulling 300 lbs on a sled across a long frozen lake, sleeping in tents
in weather that is 20 degrees below zero, and portaging 2 miles to get the chance to fish on a secret
fishing lake. The people that go on this 5 day trip every year are Moose, my second cousin Paul
Gerten and his dog, my uncle Danny, their friend Sterling Black, and I, although Danny had knee
issues for a while which didn't allow him to come this trip. The year was 2016, and Sterling decided

his work friend Brett Strand from Lifetime Fitness.

night without the old men's wives, so we go to a bar called the the Green Door where the men drink

one out of the group that is too young to drink alcohol, and also the kid that can drive, I have to

Going Camping For The Camping Trip
Going camping for the very first time can be an exciting experience. However, knowing how to
prepare for the camping trip ensures that the elements won 't stop you and your family from
exploring the wild and having a good time. You must be ready for whatever the climate has to offer,
because those afternoon showers can sneak up in the summertime, and there are unexpected cold
snaps in the spring and fall. It is important to pack the proper clothing so that you are prepared for
all of the weather conditions that Mother Nature may send your way. Wear Comfortable Clothes The
key to packing outfits for a camping trip is to take enough comfortable apparel to last the length of
the stay, and make sure it is the appropriate attire for the season. When you wear clothes that
provide functional comfort, you will be able to relax and have a good time during your camp out;
plus, you 'll be protected from any harsh elements. Keep in mind that it is better to have too much
than not enough. It is a good idea to dress in layers, because it allows you to remove garments as the
day warms up. Outfits to Pack for Warm Climate Campouts Always choose loose clothing that flows
away from the body allowing air to circulate. Pack lightweight cotton T–shirts, shorts,
undergarments, socks, tennis shoes, sweaters, wide–brimmed hat, sunglasses, and a poncho or
raincoat. Don 't forget to take the sunscreen and keep it applied on all areas of the skin that will be
exposed to the sun. Clothes to Take

Father Flynn in John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt Essay
It is difficult to make the decision if Father Flynn is innocent or guilty. In John Patrick Shanley's
Doubt; a parable, he eclipses the truth very well. The scenes about the toy, the camping trip and the
undershirt cause much confusion; causing the audience to go back and forth in their minds and
doubt Father Flynn. Law says that people are innocent until proven guilty although; realistically,
everyone knows that people are guilty until proven innocent. It is very possible that Father Fynn is
only helping Donald, because he is less fortunate than the other students at his school; and it is also
very possible that he is hurting the child by molesting him. The decision is left to the audience as the
jury. Father Flynn gave Donald Miller ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Maybe take the boys on a camping trip." "The point being?" (Shanley, 2008)Sister Alyosuis is
clearly dismissing his plan altogether. Much so, because she would never permit something like that,
with her traditional views on how her school was run, and her plans of keeping it that way. Father
Flynn makes the suggestion maybe just for some bonding time with the children, and to be more
appealing to them and their parents. Father Flynn Says to Sister Aloysuis "We should be friendlier.
The children and the parents should see us as members of their family rather than emissaries from
Rome." "But we are not members of their family. We are different." (Shanley, 2005) Shanley
expresses a fine line between friendly, and too friendly. Father Flynn may have suggested the trip for
a chance to be alone with the boys where no one would see them if he planned on doing
incongruous things with them. Since the trip was only a offer, and Sister Aloysuis would never allow
it, Shanley shows Father Flynn's concept, but never uncovers his real intentions with the kids on this
camping trip.
Sister James sees Father Flynn putting an undershirt in Donald's locker while the children are in
their dance class. Father Flynn did not know anyone saw him. Sister James says "I saw you put and

My Reflection Of Nature
The main way the readings, reflections, and discussions with classmates has contributed to my
understanding of how to incorporate nature is the variety of perceptions. I really enjoyed how every
individual in the class had their own take on an issue and a way to connect it to nature. For example,
there were at least three people who decided to focus on the issue of loss and grief for the
assignment that was shared over the camping trip. Even though the topic was discussed by three
people, each person used a different part of nature to depict their unique metaphor. Another way
completing the classwork with peers has contributed to my understanding of how to incorporate
nature is that the information from peers has displayed to me incorporating nature does not need to
be difficult.
Since the beginning of the semester, I was worried about how I would incorporate nature into the
location I am currently at for practicum. Due to the fact that I am a student, I have to record, which
limits my ability to take clients outside. Also, there is an issue with confidentiality as soon as I walk
out the door with one of my clients. There are a large number of "what if's", for example, what if the
client and I bump into the client's peers. These thoughts made adding nature into my practicum site
seem impossible and I was worried about how I was going to role–play with a partner on how to get
clients outside.
However, the readings, reflections, as well as class discussions calmed my

Popup Camper Research Paper

  • 1. Popup Camper Research Paper After twenty–two years of marriage and tent camping, we finally upgraded to a popup camper, which is considered to be "entry level" to travel trailers. We loved that popup camper (Note: Any time I say "we loved," please understand I am excluding my daughter). For the first time in our camping lives we had air conditioning, running water, light that did not come from a flame, and although it was not much softer than the ground we had slept on for years, we had a bed off the ground. For the first time, we did not have to worry about a squirrel or skunk gnawing a hole in the side of the tent to get at the potato chips one of the kids had left on the tent floor. We actually had a place we could plug in a small heater during colder months without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was perfect! It had a full kitchen, a queen size bed, a dinette table that dropped down to make an extra bed if needed, and a full bath with a shower that had hot water. However, we quickly learned that rarely would it be just the two of us camping. All six grandchildren decided they wanted to go camping! As much as we were thrilled the grandkids wanted to camp with us, we realized two things quickly: first, there was barely enough room in our small travel trailer for us much less six extra little energetic bodies, and second, there was no way in Hades that we were going to be trapped in a tin can with six wild Indians. We upgraded again! Because we were still cheap, we bought another "entry level" travel trailer, but at least this time it was longer and had bunk beds. We also decided for our sanity that we would take no more than two grandchildren on any camping trip. However, shortly after getting the new camper, we caved in and took three of the mud–slugs with us camping, and thereby, shot that resolution to hell. But, that's really a good thing. Camping is a lot like Disney World; it's the smile on children's faces that make it so special, especially if the faces belong to your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you have a standard "Camping Checklist" it will help insure you have a safe and happy camping trip, because you will feel confident knowing you have included all necessary gear you will need while on your trip. As a seasoned outdoorsman I have been on hundreds of camping trips and until I actually sat down and made my Camping Checklist I was always forgetting something. I am going to provide you with a gear checklist to help get you started. I hope this checklist will keep you organized as you pack for your trips. Camping Checklist Outline, for Happy Campers! • 5. Kayak Camping Trip Essay Kayak Fishing Camping Trip Tips (951 Words) Whether you want to spend more time at your favorite fishing spot or finally have time to make a trip to explore some new lakes or rivers, there's nothing quite like a kayak fishing camping trip. Not only do they offer a great excuse to fish to your heart's content, but you also get to spend more time in the great outdoors. However, combining kayak fishing with camping means you need to spend a lot more time on preparation, especially if you are far from home. Unless you want to discover that you've left behind something essential take note of the following tips to ensure that your kayak fishing camping trip goes smoothly. 1. Do Your Research A kayak fishing camping trip is exciting, but make sure that you do all your research before diving in headfirst. This means checking whether camping is allowed in the area you want to visit, what the best times of the year are for camping there and what the weather will be like during your stay. As disappointing as it might be, it is better to cancel your trip if stormy weather is predicted instead of thinking of just braving it. 2. Only Bring The Essentials As important as it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This makes it a lot easier to pack everything efficiently, but it also means you have to spend less time rummaging around inside bigger bags to find what you need. It is also a good idea to categorize everything first before packing, so you won't end up searching for the toilet paper in the electronics bag or have to dig in the toiletries bag looking for dry food bars. Color coding your bags works the best and make sure to distribute the weight of the bags properly when loading them in your kayak. No matter how good you are at Tetris, stacking things up on your deck is not a good idea as it causes more wind resistance and impacts the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. A Not-so-Secret Escape A Not–So–Secret Escape If you were to ask someone twenty years ago what camping is all about, they would immediately tell you about campfires, sleeping bags, and how the stars shine brightly at night. However, today's outlook on camping has changed completely. It involves a motor home which includes a kitchen and a modern day shower located on a campground just a few feet away from access to the Internet. Sure it is nice not to have to leave anything behind while on your camping trip, but you're really not camping. Real camping is dirty, simple, and breathtaking. It involves sleeping on the ground with just a thin layer separating you from the freezing, soft soil filled with insects ready to climb on top of your warm body. Camping is taking hour long walks, exploring the scenery that surrounds you while avoiding the dangers in the forest. To experience real camping, one should work hard for their food, warmth, and comfort. Even though camping in a four wheeled home with all the daily amenities is easier than camping that involves secluding yourself in the middle of the forest, it doesn't reveal one of camping's greatest attributes: an escape from the busy society in which we live today. As a kid, I never really enjoyed going camping with my family. The way I looked at it, it took away time from my games and the luxury of indoor plumbing. I could not see the joy in being outside for a week without taking a shower and being surrounded by pesty insects. However, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Descriptive Essay The word lost was becoming more operative by the moment. The morning 's ice fishing over at nearby North Pond had been fine. After I ate my fish cakes back in my cabin at Mohawk Mountain, heat radiating from the wood stove, I 'd felt warm enough to peel down to a t–shirt and read. That was this morning. The night before I 'd wandered the forest 's central fire roads savoring the night air and watching the shadows my headlamp cast into the woods. One can relax well in the woods in winter at night: that soothing sense of aloneness you feel at night under a canopy of stars in the winter. Now I was stumbling around through the snow–filled woods, bushwhacking. I was searching for the route to either Adams or North Adams, whichever came first, map in one hand, orienteering compass in the other, as I took in the woods ' contours, trail bends, and ice–covered stream beds. Where the heck was I? Back in the cabin awaited two panfish in a cooler, a steak too if I wanted it, and a block of blue cheese big the size of housebrick. What I wanted was the trail called Blackburnian Loop. As for where I was ––– BINGO! there it was: the beaver dam and trail I recognized from a trip here last year. Yes. Once again I 'd successfully made it back from one of my classic lost–in–the–woods hikes. I thumped back into the cabin, lit the stove, took off my wet socks and sweater, and lifted from my cooler the bigger fish. I cleaned it, pan fried it, ate it, and settled back in the chair with my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Descriptive Essay : A Personal Narrative : The Day Of Camping It's finally happening! Today's the day we will begin our adventure! You and your buds finally get to leave the cold and boulders of snow behind and go camping where it's warm and sunny. You guys and all packed up with shorts and tanktops. After five hours of driving, making four stops to ask for directions and buy snacks, your group finally reaches the destination and it's nothing you expected. Instead of the warm sunny place Alison from the grocery store told you she visited, there ended up being a rainstorm and it was freezing! It's too cramped up in the truck to sit there and wait it out, so everyone pitches in to set up the tent. After pulling everything out and starting to put pieces together, you realize Grandpa John let you borrow a tent that was missing the most essential piece, the tarp that surrounds you, sheltering you from the cold hard raindrops pelting your face. That's the end of it, all your excitement and waiting for a great weekend, turns into seven antsy people piled into a SX Person car thinking about what they could have done to avoid this. You could have had a set up tent relaxing and warm under all the blankets you had in the back. Instead of everyone crammed in a very small vehicle. All the excitement lead to a group of people who were lacking the knowledge on how to successfully prepare for a camping trip. But that's over and done with, all you can do now is find a location, check the weather, gather and double check all your camping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Vacation Vs My Dream Vacation My Typical Vacation vs. My Dream Vacation I take a vacation every year, and every year it's the same thing – a week of camping at a campground one hour from our home. But I dream of a vacation in which I take a cruise to some exotic location or stay at an all–inclusive resort on an island where I can be pampered and thrilled at the same time. Both of these vacations are good, and both certainly offer me time away from work in which I can have a respite from impending deadlines, a demanding boss, and grumbling clients. In addition, both can even offer me the outdoor time soaking up the natural world my spirit seems to need. And to be clear, family memories, which are so important to me, can be made on both vacations. Yet, the differences between my dream vacation and my typical camping vacation are distinct, which is why I still yearn for that dream vacation that I have yet to take. To begin with, both vacations are different in purpose. We go camping because it is inexpensive; raising children costs money, and camping is an inexpensive yet fun way for us to make family memories yet still afford things for the children like nice clothes, extracurricular activities like football and piano lessons, and fun activities like going bowling with friends. The cost of a camping vacation is minimal, particularly if we use the same supplies year after year. We sleep on the ground in a tent we have used for ten years. We cook our own food over a campfire, and our daily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Comparing John Muir And Theodore Roosevelt's Camping Trip... John Muir and Theodore Roosevelt went on a camping trip in Yosemite Valley. They went in March of 1903. They planned a camping trip because they planned to preserve nature in Yosemite Valley. For thirty years John Muir has tried to persuade people to preserve the area but it wasn't easy. Soon enough he got a letter from Roosevelt saying he wanted to go on a camping trip with just Muir. According to Fleming ¨ Roosevelt already expressed his outrage over destruction of the wilderness.¨. Muir agreed to guide Roosevelt. Roosevelt was dazzled by Yosemite Valley that he went on to give a speech saying ¨The sequoias deserve protection, simply because it would be a shame to let them disappear.¨ according to Fleming. • 17. Essay On The Galapago Trip Off–the–Beaten Path Galapagos trips are rare; the restrictions in place pretty much rule them out. Any incursion into the Galapagos National Park is done with a certified guide, boats are limited to stopping at each visitor site once in a fourteen day period and the notion of setting off on your to parts unknown independently is distinctly and absolutely frowned upon. While being saddled with a guide and limitations that prohibit independent travel is disconcerting to many, the advent of a new twist on an old tradition offers relief to those is search of a trail blazing adventure. The Galapagos Safari Camp is the real deal, taking its cue from African counterparts and giving people a genuine way to explore the islands. One that embraces conservation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This adventure led me to update a guidebook, manage a non–profit travel club and through a maze of places that didn't make the cut. Needless to say, my latest discovery is worth its salt and deserving of the time it takes to finish this article. Conventional wisdom about the Galapagos dictates that trips are taken on boats, more islands are accessible in a limited amount of time. This way of thinking isn't easily changed, but making a decision to take a land–based trip just makes sense. Time is spent getting to know the islands from a hands on perspective, seeing the uninhabited destinations by day and spending the nights in the natural surroundings. Adding a different element to the trip and bringing the environment to life. Michael and Stephanie Mesdag realized this while on vacation. A trip into the highlands of Santa Cruz led them to a farm for sale next to the National Park border. The subsequent purchase made way for two years of camping on the property while getting to know the islands culturally and planning an environmentally friendly way to open up the Galapagos to a safari ... • 19. Why Is Glamping So Much Fun? Why is Glamping so Much Fun? If you've never been glamping, you may wonder what exactly this activity entails and why it is such a popular trend. This kind of trip differs from camping in a few very fundamental ways. If you're the type of person who enjoys nature – but you cannot imagine being without certain conveniences for more than several hours – then glam camping may be the perfect choice for you. Glamping Is Simply More Comfortable If backpacking after a 10–mile hike and sleeping in the open air make you feel uneasy, you might want to organize a glamping trip instead. Instead of shivering under the stars, you and your companions can sleep in small domes that will afford you the luxury and privacy you crave. Glamping Is More ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. A Brief Note On Wildfires And Its Effects On The Environment Every year, thousands of forest or wildfires are caused by humans, which affect thousands and thousands of acres of land and wildlife all over the United States. Many of these fires that are caused by human error or negligence, occur at many of the beautiful camp sites, that are located around the country. In these cases, these fires not only affect the land and the wildlife, it puts the lives of other camper 's, in jeopardy as well. Especially since with wild or forest fires, there is no way of telling how fast, or what location the fire will spread to. That is just on top of the issue, that most of these locations are remote, which can limit the options that emergency service personal (such as firefighters) have to use to fight them. These fires can be started in many ways, such as unattended or out of control camp fires, improper placement of grills, discarding of used coals in hazardous areas, unsafe or use of fireworks in forested area, etc. But, there is an upside to the situation, since in many cases you can help prevent them from happening at all. All it takes, is for campers to be responsible by following the proper safety procedures when using any flammable items, and the proper knowledge and equipment needed in case a fire may start (if fire is out of control and you are putting yourself or others on danger by attempting to put it out, get yourself and everyone in the area to a safe location, and contact the proper authorities immediately). Family comes from New Jersey, California, and sometimes Virginia to go camping with us; we want as much family to be with us on these trips as possible. In 2007, I was the youngest cousin out of the 10 that went camping with us, and to be honest it sucked because I would mostly be left out of adventures the big kids would do. My older cousins were between the ages of 15–17 and then there was middle ages that were 10–12 and me being 7 years old. My cousins decided to go down to the river, I really wanted to go, but they said "no, because something can happen." they always said that it made me mad. I told my mom I didn't want to help. She told me to go in the tent and color. I went to the tent and as I was going to go in the tent I saw my bike. Thought to myself that I can ride my bike and catch up with my cousins. In my head, I thought nothing bad can happen, nor I would get in trouble with going with my cousins without telling my parents. • 42. A Trip On A Family Vacation At California, Disneyland, The... I've been on a family vacation for ten days that included a road trip to California, Disneyland, the beach, and a family reunion camping trip. It was a pretty ambitious trip and has provided an interesting reflection on budgeting – budgeting time, budgeting money, and budgeting food. I read an article recently that said the biggest reason people are late is that they are too optimistic. I laughed out loud when I read that. I so often optimistically try to fit in one more thing before I leave and then end up leaving late or I get too optimistic about there not being any traffic and then I am shocked when I hit traffic and arrive late. Truly budgeting time in a way that makes me not late means budgeting for contingencies, allowing room for things to go wrong, and knowing everything will not go as planned, but still being able to arrive on time. I have to put extra time into my time budget, or I run out of time too soon. I think the same is true for food and money too. I have to plan for contingencies, know everything will not go as planned, and add in extra room when I can. I took money expert Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace University" class just before I left on vacation and so made an effort to budget my vacation money the way he recommends, using envelopes for each category. I separated our travel food budget into 10 envelopes, one for each day of the trip, and put cash into each envelope to use on food each day. What a challenge that has been! My family had recently started going to a new church, and the youth group had invited me on their annual camping trip. I stood in the church parking lot early Friday morning, duffel bag in one hand, sleeping bag in the other. Hugging my parents and younger sisters goodbye, I joined the group of fellow campers. Immediately, I was greeted by an older woman named Zoan. "Christine! Welcome! Looks like you're the only female youth joining us on this trip, but I hope we'll be good company!" Zoan reintroduced me to the other adults; her husband Dave, Hana and her husband Mario, and Laura and her husband Mike. Three boys were also joining us on the trip. "Okay, everyone! This year we're going to Eleven Mile State Park, so find a leader with space in their car and let's get going!" Dave announced. I think Hana could tell that I was nervous, and invited me to ride with her. When we arrived at our destination, I helped unload the supplies. I was slouched in my seat playing on my phone the entire drive there, and believe me, it was a long ride. The drive there took over an hour, it was one of the most boring hours I have ever had to experience. "Where are we going?" I asked from the backseat. "Old Man's Cave, That's what we settled on.'' my Dad answered. We were going camping with some family friends, like the paces and the Robinsons. At least there were going to be other people. Then I would have someone to talk to. "We're here." My dad called I looked out the window and saw the woods that we were going to be staying in for 3 days. Persuasive Essay On A Camping Trip Camping in Alaska, Arizona, and Colorado The wilderness is vast, unforgiving, and beauteous; those who visit it unprepared find thorns instead of roses, but even as tough as a trip into the wild is, the pros can be worth the cons. Many venture into camping with no wary thoughts about the dangers it brings; the wildlife, environment, weather, and location can instantaneously alter your seemingly perfect trip. Surprisingly, these problems can be avoided, but only through careful planning. Planning a camping trip revolves around: climate, location, and environment. For example, I would like to discuss three different places you can camp: Arizona, Colorado, and Alaska. To begin with, choosing a season like spring, summer or fall can greatly alter the temperature, and also determines the amount of rain you will experience. Because of its limited rainfall, Arizona is an extremely dry, arid state. If you arrange to camp there, you would need tools and nutrients fitted for a desert–like landscape. One of the more important items is water, without it you would be helpless; water is important no matter where you are, whether a barren desert, or bitter arctic wasteland. There is no doubt, In the Arizona desert; temperatures of over 125 degrees Fahrenheit have occurred, yet the average in July and August is commonly found to be around 104 to 107 degrees. Despite the sweltering temperatures, at night the temperatures lower from approximately 81 to 84 degrees. The next ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But if you have a toddler that you must take with you, it will present a set of unique problems. You will need to keep your toddler occupied, safe, and entertained. Here 's how. 1. Don 't try and travel too far at one time with a toddler in the car. Three hours of traveling is about the limit for a toddler. You will then need to stop and get out of the car. Give the toddler some time to move around a bit and get some fresh air. The exercise will do him good and he may get tired out enough that he may sleep during the next leg of the trip. Be sure to bring some snack foods with you to give him something to munch on. 2. Also consider where your toddler will sleep. Is he used to sleeping on something other than a bed? If he is, then you don 't have anything to worry about. But if he isn 't, then you may need to do some thinking concerning sleeping arrangements. 3. Be careful where you camp. I don 't think you want to be too close to a lake or pond. Your toddler could wander in that direction very quickly without you noticing. In fact, you need to keep an eye on him constantly. There are many hazards in a camping environment that could injure him. 4. Be sure to make the trip fun for the toddler. Try and arrange things that will be fun for him to do. Cohen describes that there are moments when we will behave like socialists. He uses a camping trip analogy to demonstrate his argument. Campers will share the fruits of their labour equally among the rest of the fellow campers. According to Cohen, "our common aim is that each of us should have a good time" (50). Individual distinctions are only a reflection of differences in "taste and choice, not differences in natural and social capacities and powers" (62). There are three types of inequality that are compatible with socialist equality. The first type is the preference and choice of lifestyle options resulting in inequalities of good, which Cohen finds unproblematic. The next type is differences in the amount of effort individuals put into their life chances, and Cohen deems this as only a bit problematic. Cohen has the largest problem with differences in amounts of chosen option luck (i.e. voluntary gambling). This is a huge flaw of socialist equality of opportunity. Here, the principle of community is strained. The Principle of Community Community is built of two main elements. First, community requires communal caring. Members need to put themselves in positions where they are able to relate to other members and does everything "within reasonable limits of self–sacrifice" (65). The second is communal reciprocity. Individuals will serve other members of the community, not for exchange of goods, but to provide generosity and support. These elements of community appear in the lives of all individuals, even the most capitalist ones. Humans are entirely capable of these. It was in the summer of 1999 when my family decided to take a camping trip to Colorado. I was a typical 15 year old high school student, which meant family vacations were "lame" in my eyes. We left Kansas City after school one Friday and made our way through the very flat, very uninteresting state of Kansas. I slept the majority of the drive out to the great land of Colorado. For the first night of our stay, Dad rented a hotel room since it was dark and too hard to see to pitch the tent. The next day, we woke up early and left the hotel to enjoy the scenery. We spent a long day hiking through the mountains, marveling over the work of years and years – millennia even – to carve out the intricate patterns and formations of the canyons. As we grew tired and hungry, we decided to find a camp site and set up camp for the night. We found a site at the foothills of Pike's Peak. There were pine trees everywhere. The woman from the Pine–Sol commercial would have considered it her personal heaven. The sky had been relatively clear all day with only a fluffy cloud or two. However, just as we began unpacking the car, the sky darkened and the wind picked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Year 7 Camp Research Paper Survival on Camp Alex provides great tips for surviving camp On Monday the 8th of February, the Year 7 cohort left Pulteney to go on a camping adventure on Kangaroo Island (KI). There, they did many things such as cook, set up, sleep in tents and go on long hikes. While this might not sound fun for everyone, once there the Year 7s discovered that there was lots of fun stuff to do and it was a fantastic bonding experience. Knowing that Year 6s are often worried about the Year Seven camp, I went and spoke to Alex Candy a Year Seven who survived this years' Year Seven camp on KI. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you are worried about camp here are Alex Candy's top ten survival tips as he has been through many camps before. Alex Candy's top 10 camp survival tips: 1. Pack your day bag the night before you leave. Getting up early for camp is a drag, it is best to be ready to go first, lest you forget something or are late. 2. Apply sun screen at the start of each day. Trust me getting sunburnt on camp is no fun, so make sure you use sun screen early and often. 3. Choose your tent partners wisely. Tent Partners who talk or snore all night are real pests, so choose wisely. 4. Make sure that you get one of the first sand boards at Little Sahara. Little Sahara is fantastic but standing in line for a sand board is really boring, try to get to front of the queue. 5. Don't ask for seconds. Asking for seconds at meal time is big no go because you won't get seconds. 6. Listen during the day if you want to eat first. The camp instructors ask questions about the day and if you get the answers you eat first, this is really important when you're really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Camping Trip Persuasive Essay 'We are going to have so much fun guys!" this was one of many moments when I could confidently say I don't believe I am my mother's child. She was talking about our upcoming camping trip for spring break. While my friends went to Florida, South Carolina, and Hawaii, I was stuck driving 12 hours to my parents favorite camping spot in Maine. I can appreciate nature in small doses, yes butterflies are cute, and waterfalls are beautiful. But I don't do camping. I mean why does anyone? The bear warnings at the beginning of a camp site should be scary enough. But if that doesn't do it for you, think of the lack of running water, heat (or AC), and hot meals. Counting that day, I had a week left before being dragged to the woods. Naturally, that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "I guess you 're rooming with us kiddo!" his smile was probably the worst part of all this. It 's like the forest was drugs and my dad was a happy addict. After setting up the tent, our three sleeping bags were laid out. I fought to have the spot beside the opening for the tent so I could open it if I got hot without stepping over two other bodies. Now it was dinner time. My dad proudly told the story of his first–time camping, and the hunt he went on for his dinner. Thankfully, we wouldn't have to hunt down our dinner tonight. We had the slightly better alternative, canned beans. I lost my appetite looking at the slimy concoction, and let me not even get started on the flavor. "Alright, this day didn't go exactly as planned" my mom glanced over to the pathetic pile that should've been my tent before continuing "but, we are going to have a fun day tomorrow, get some good sleep carmen" I've been sitting in this tent for about two hours now. I guess a nice little walk would be the best way to cure this homesickness of sorts. Leaving my tent was hard, thankfully my parents sleep like their hibernating. At home I love to go on walk through the neighborhood. This sure isn't home though, my thin flip flops have a thick layer of mud caked under them. The twigs and leaves I keep stepping on cause me to jump, I probably look like a baby deer just learning to walk. Speaking of which, I've seen barely any animals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Descriptive Essay About Summer Vacation In February during spring break, my Dad, nicknamed Moose, arranges a trip to stay on Seagull Lake. This is not like your ordinary trip; this is winter camping in the Boundary Waters, which requires hard work, the willingness to help out at all times, and a lot of preparation. This trip consists of cross country skiing, pulling 300 lbs on a sled across a long frozen lake, sleeping in tents in weather that is 20 degrees below zero, and portaging 2 miles to get the chance to fish on a secret fishing lake. The people that go on this 5 day trip every year are Moose, my second cousin Paul Gerten and his dog, my uncle Danny, their friend Sterling Black, and I, although Danny had knee issues for a while which didn't allow him to come this trip. The year was 2016, and Sterling decided to bring his nephew named Birkley, whose mother had just passed away. Also, Moose brought along his work friend Brett Strand from Lifetime Fitness. We start our trip by driving up to my cabin in Silver Bay, Minnesota. The first night is a Thursday night without the old men's wives, so we go to a bar called the the Green Door where the men drink a bunch of beers and watch the wild game. Birkley and I of course only drink Coca Cola. Being the one out of the group that is too young to drink alcohol, and also the kid that can drive, I have to sober cab for the men. When we get back to the cabin, many games of cribbage are played and many more beers are finished by the men. Waking up in the morning is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Going Camping For The Camping Trip Going camping for the very first time can be an exciting experience. However, knowing how to prepare for the camping trip ensures that the elements won 't stop you and your family from exploring the wild and having a good time. You must be ready for whatever the climate has to offer, because those afternoon showers can sneak up in the summertime, and there are unexpected cold snaps in the spring and fall. It is important to pack the proper clothing so that you are prepared for all of the weather conditions that Mother Nature may send your way. Wear Comfortable Clothes The key to packing outfits for a camping trip is to take enough comfortable apparel to last the length of the stay, and make sure it is the appropriate attire for the season. When you wear clothes that provide functional comfort, you will be able to relax and have a good time during your camp out; plus, you 'll be protected from any harsh elements. Keep in mind that it is better to have too much than not enough. It is a good idea to dress in layers, because it allows you to remove garments as the day warms up. Outfits to Pack for Warm Climate Campouts Always choose loose clothing that flows away from the body allowing air to circulate. Pack lightweight cotton T–shirts, shorts, undergarments, socks, tennis shoes, sweaters, wide–brimmed hat, sunglasses, and a poncho or raincoat. Don 't forget to take the sunscreen and keep it applied on all areas of the skin that will be exposed to the sun. Clothes to Take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. Father Flynn in John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt Essay It is difficult to make the decision if Father Flynn is innocent or guilty. In John Patrick Shanley's Doubt; a parable, he eclipses the truth very well. The scenes about the toy, the camping trip and the undershirt cause much confusion; causing the audience to go back and forth in their minds and doubt Father Flynn. Law says that people are innocent until proven guilty although; realistically, everyone knows that people are guilty until proven innocent. It is very possible that Father Fynn is only helping Donald, because he is less fortunate than the other students at his school; and it is also very possible that he is hurting the child by molesting him. The decision is left to the audience as the jury. Father Flynn gave Donald Miller ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Maybe take the boys on a camping trip." "The point being?" (Shanley, 2008)Sister Alyosuis is clearly dismissing his plan altogether. Much so, because she would never permit something like that, with her traditional views on how her school was run, and her plans of keeping it that way. Father Flynn makes the suggestion maybe just for some bonding time with the children, and to be more appealing to them and their parents. Father Flynn Says to Sister Aloysuis "We should be friendlier. The children and the parents should see us as members of their family rather than emissaries from Rome." "But we are not members of their family. We are different." (Shanley, 2005) Shanley expresses a fine line between friendly, and too friendly. Father Flynn may have suggested the trip for a chance to be alone with the boys where no one would see them if he planned on doing incongruous things with them. Since the trip was only a offer, and Sister Aloysuis would never allow it, Shanley shows Father Flynn's concept, but never uncovers his real intentions with the kids on this camping trip. Sister James sees Father Flynn putting an undershirt in Donald's locker while the children are in their dance class. Father Flynn did not know anyone saw him. Sister James says "I saw you put and undershirt in Donald Miller's locker" (Shanley, 2008) He may have been providing Donald with an undershirt because he did not have one, or one that fit anymore. • 78. My Reflection Of Nature The main way the readings, reflections, and discussions with classmates has contributed to my understanding of how to incorporate nature is the variety of perceptions. I really enjoyed how every individual in the class had their own take on an issue and a way to connect it to nature. For example, there were at least three people who decided to focus on the issue of loss and grief for the assignment that was shared over the camping trip. Even though the topic was discussed by three people, each person used a different part of nature to depict their unique metaphor. Another way completing the classwork with peers has contributed to my understanding of how to incorporate nature is that the information from peers has displayed to me incorporating nature does not need to be difficult. Since the beginning of the semester, I was worried about how I would incorporate nature into the location I am currently at for practicum. Due to the fact that I am a student, I have to record, which limits my ability to take clients outside. Also, there is an issue with confidentiality as soon as I walk out the door with one of my clients. There are a large number of "what if's", for example, what if the client and I bump into the client's peers. These thoughts made adding nature into my practicum site seem impossible and I was worried about how I was going to role–play with a partner on how to get clients outside. However, the readings, reflections, as well as class discussions calmed my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
