Counseling Reflection Paper
To begin with, I attended a counseling meeting that is held every Thursday at Los Angeles Pierce
College. There was a total of 40 counselors which included adjunct and full–time counselors. The
meeting was led by Transfer Center Director, Sunday Salter and two full–time counselors. The
meeting was held to inform counselors of the news updates of Cal State Apply and People–soft
errors. Everyone was told to freely ask questions if any of the topics were misunderstood, and if
they had other information regarding these topics to please share it.
Before starting the meeting, Sunday Salter, announced Alyce Fling–Miller as the new Counseling
Center Department Chair. Everyone clapped and even some counselors gave her a hug. Alyce Fling–
Miller gave a one minute speech of how fortunate she felt of taking this position and she asked
collaboration from everyone with ideas of improvements she can make of the center. After the
speech, Sunday Salter, discussed the glitches Cal State apply has. She explained that is the first–year
Cal State apply launched their website; therefore, the application had a lot of confusing information.
Sunday opened the demo application and explained that students with repeated courses within the
same district should add them as repeats in their CSU application though it might not be marked as a
repeat on the transcripts. Also, students in progress of submitting an academic renewal, should add it
on their transcript entry. Counselors were very confused with

I Was Very Excited To Begin My Internship At Paul Hastings,
I was very excited to begin my internship at Paul Hastings, as it was my first real experience in
corporate America. I've had multiple internships before, but I never felt like I was pushed into a
better professional. Upon beginning this internship, I was looking forward to a challenge and that is
absolutely what I got.
Within my first month at Paul Hastings I had completed more work than I did at my last internship
which lasted six months. At Paul Hastings, all though my title was intern, I was a member of the
business development team. I learned quickly the work I was doing mattered and that it needed to be
done well. The expectation there is extremely high, which is something I should've known going
into a competitive internship at one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have not increased my attention to detail not only in my internship, but all aspects of my life and
am grateful for the stern, honest and constructive advice from my supervisor, that allowed me to
significantly improve a weakness of mine.
During my internship, I had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. Most of my time was
spent using excel and PowerPoint which provided another opportunity for me to strengthen my
weaknesses. On excel I would conduct a lot of secondary research that pertained to the clients of the
firm. For example, Barclays, who is a huge client in Paul Hastings financial services market, has
over 700 people in relation to Paul Hastings. I went through an excel list of 700 contacts and
verified through Google and LinkedIn searches whether they were still with the company or not.
Most of my projects on excel were like this. Also on excel I managed the budget for the firm and
kept track of how much was spent on each client, and what clients had paid the firm for its services.
I tended to do well on budgeting projects and any projects involving excel and numbers. Once I
realized the type of projects I was doing poorly on I was able to identify why and began making the
necessary changes to improve my performance. Any task given to me that involved me having to
think and analyze I did very well on. The more mundane and mind numbing projects, were the ones
where I would miss multiple little things, which created a poor

Dr Dozer Summary
Throughout Dr. Dozer's presentation on his work, I constantly made connections to what we learned
in the histology unit. I especially remember when he mentioned the stomach ulcers and how they
formed; I recalled back to the test and how that made sense because the stomach is not lined with
the needed epithelium to protect it from the stomach acid, therefore creating the ulcers. I also found
it odd yet funny when Dr. Dozer mentioned that ulcers where the most fun and exciting part of his
job. Additionally, I made a connection to when we studied the cells and how they formed cancer,
specifically to throat cancer and how it would have to be removed. The most shocking part was how
the cancer was surgically removed; having to remove the entire throat

PULSE: Peers Understanding Listening Supporting Education
Tucked away under the Health Center lies a glass door. A glass door that doesn't lead to another o–
chem lab or history class, but to a group of students who devote their time to the health and
wellbeing of the rest of the 20,000 students who attend Cal Poly SLO. These students comprise a
group called PULSE.
PULSE: Peers Understanding Listening Supporting Educating. Each word describes exactly how
PULSE serves the college. From daily consultations to campus–wide events, PULSE makes its
presence known on campus, reaching out to serve and to advocate for students' needs. PULSE
recognizes that there is nothing more important than students' health. Sure, there are the academic,
athletic, artistic, and social lives to be lived, but success in all of these aspects of life rely on the
premise that the student is healthy. To first–year environmental science major Sebastian Gonzales,
health can be summarized using three simple words: "Sleep. Diet. Exercise." While this remains ...

Alexandra has volunteered for REAL for the past quarter and provided an insight on how REAL
serves Cal Poly. For a typical week, Alexandra is given three one–hour consultation periods in
which she meets with students who walk in or sign up. Typically, the whole hour is taken up, and
during this time, Alexandra simply listens to the student's concerns, questions, and problems, and
offers educational resources. Some reasons why many students visited REAL, as Alexandra lists,
include anxiety, depression, stress management, or grief. Oftentimes, the students who visit REAL
even schedule a follow–up consultation weeks or months later, checking in with their PULSE
confidant. And Alexandra never had an empty hour of consultations; every week her fall quarter,
Alexandra filled her schedule with three different students, listening to and supporting their

My Undergraduate Work At California Polytechnic State...
I chose to do my undergraduate work at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.
Cal Poly was affordable, strong in the sciences and well known for its Learn by Doing philosophy. I
received a phenomenal education in science and nutrition helping me feel prepared to begin
graduate studies in advanced practice nursing. Prior to Cal Poly, I planned a career in nursing,
ultimately deciding that studying nutrition at Cal Poly could provide an excellent foundation. I
found nutrition fascinating. During my maternal and child nutrition course my passion surrounding
the health and wellness of women, particularly during pregnancy, solidified. I began finding ways to
supplement my learning in this direction. As a research assistant for a pediatric nurse practitioner, I
sat in on breastfeeding support groups, consultations and researched topics of concern for new
mothers. Some women had been advised to avoid certain foods while breastfeeding in order to
prevent and treat colic symptoms. As a nutrition major, I am interested in diet modifications as
therapies but also aware of the challenges women are facing to meet the current breastfeeding
recommendations. Worried dietary exclusions may not be evidence based and could contribute to
breastfeeding avoidance, I began researching to find the answers. With the support of my senior
project advisor, Dr. Swadener, I dug into the clinic trials. I found some success in treating infantile
colic with a maternal hypoallergenic

Gentrification In The Workplace
My first year living in Pomona was terrifying. Within the first three months, my roommate's car was
stolen inside our apartment complex and was reported at a junkyard.
Keshet Weinstein, a junior Cal Poly student who has been living in a gated Pomona apartment for
six months, had a similar experience as my roommate,
"Within the first month of moving in, my car was broken into while in my garage and I heard that
there were 10 bikes stolen," Weinstein said.
Gentrification has become a very broad buzzword. According to Webster dictionary it is described
as the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that it conforms to middle–class
taste. The term has been used negatively, suggesting displacement of poor residents as an ... Show

The Pomona City Hall website released earlier this February that Esparza had a meeting with the
city council.
Esparza wanted a 15–screen theater that would show movies in English, Spanish–language, other
foreign or art–house fare. Not only would this preserve the Hispanic culture in the area, it would
also spread influence. This would create new job opportunities as construction picks up. This might
even spark more mainstream stores and restaurants to open.
"It would make the school more attractive," said Jenny Thai, a senior at Cal Poly Pomona who lived
in Downtown Pomona for a year.
Urbanization is inevitable, whether we want it or not. Opposers are constantly bickering about the
political and moral consequences of gentrification. This topic is indeed mind boggling and complex.
However, there is a need to observe this multi–faceted phenomenon in a different angle. Change is

Personal Statement : Boarding The Plane
It was March 23rd, 2013 when I was boarding the plane that would take me to Afghanistan on my
first deployment. I only remember the date because on my birthday, two days later, I would be
sitting in a V–22 Osprey flying into the volatile city of Sangin, a known Taliban hot spot. It was
during one of my first few days there, that I found myself guarding the sole entrance to my
company's operating base. Suddenly a van, old and rusting, turned the corner and came screaming
towards my position. Wary of a vehicle–borne suicide bomb, I quickly raised my rifle and began a
slow, steady squeeze on the trigger, as I'd been trained to. Just before the hammer would fall,
sending bullets racing to end the driver's life, the van screeched to a halt. A ... Show more content on

In spite of such a tragic event, the existence of MSF was brought to my attention, and I had some
insight on how I could go about accomplishing my goal of helping noncombatants afflicted by war.
With renewed vigor, it was evident that to pave the road towards attaining this goal, I need to gain
three to five years of experience working as a nurse in the U.S. before applying to work for MSF,
whom I'm hoping will one day take me back Afghanistan or Iraq to fulfil this calling.
In order to achieve my goal, I must first obtain either an Associate's Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor
of Science in Nursing. Even though the College of San Mateo offers an ADN program, I have
chosen instead to pursue a bachelor's degree. While the career opportunities for those with an ADN
and BSN are the same, a few factors have influenced my decision. First, the prerequisites for CSM's
program and many four year programs are both extensive and very similar. That is to say,
completion of the associate's program will be just as time consuming as the several bachelor degree
options offered in the Bay Area. For example, the CSM and SFSU prerequisites will both take at
least two years to complete, and the programs themselves are each an additional two years
("Nursing at College of San Mateo"; "Bachelor of Science in Nursing"). This means both will take
approximately four years, while only one earns you a bachelor's degree. Moreover, while entry level

Rising Cost Of California Essay
The Rising Cost of Tuition in California State Universities
The cost of tuition for California State Universities has skyrocketed over the last 10 years. It has
forced many students to take out expensive student loans to complete their educational goals, often
times leaving graduating college students steep in debt as they enter the workforce. Some of the
contributing factors that I am going to address are inflation, the rising cost of living and the varying
costs of different educational institutions
Webster's dictionary defines inflation: as a continuing rise in the general price level usually
attributed to an increase in the volume of money and credit relative to available goods and services.
During the last 10 years we have seen and felt the effects of inflation. Services and goods have gone
up in price, but the minimum wage for most Californians stayed the same for a number of years.
Inflation is a key factor that has affected tuition costs in most universities and has helped contribute
to the steady rise. Public and private schools each typically have their own college inflation rate,
which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inflation definitely has played a role and will continue to do so in the future as the economy changes
and adapts. It is clear that in the last ten years tuition cost spiked and in some areas doubled. The
cost of living was also a contributing factor for the spiked tuition costs. California Universities are
amongst some of the best in the nation, but they come with a price tag that unfortunately many
cannot afford. Finally the varying universities and the quality of the programs often dictate the costs.
This was clear in the comparison between Fresno State and California Polytechnic State. Both offer
quality education in specific fields for the right price. As some would say, A good education is not
cheap, and a cheap education is not

1. Introduction
This is a failure analysis report from the failure of the Oakland Bay Bridge. The San Francisco–
Oakland Bay Bridge connects Oakland to San Francisco, and is separated into two parts through a
tunnel on the Yerba Buena Island, between the two cities. The bridge is famous for its double decker
design. On October 27, 2009, the repair of a piece called an eyebar ... Show more content on

The main concern was as to whether the failure had been the cause of assembly (welding) or the
materials and design used to repair the eyebar (Wilson, 2009). They concluded that the brace that
had been used for the repair moved more than had been intended in windy conditions due to the
dampening of vibrations on the joints (Wilson, 2009). On October 27, wind speeds were recorded at
higher than 50 mph (Alfrey, 2010). Due to this wind, the was an excess in vibrations happening
inside of the joints. This, and the temperature that day, and the amount of traffic at that time caused
the materials to fatigue quickly and eventually cause the fault (Reid,

The State Of California Governing Bodies Essay
The State of California Governing Bodies The California Postsecondary Education Commission was
granted puissant duties and powers in 1974, after replacing the Coordinating Council for Higher
Education (Education Commission of the States, 2016). The commission does not serve as a
governing board but as an advisory committee to the House of Representatives, governor, and
higher education institutions, with matters paramount to education policies (Education Commission
of States, 2016). The commission holds the authority to review state public and private higher
education institutions financial records, budgets, academic programs and provide recommendations
for campus expansions. However, the primary function of the commission is to coordinate practices
that prevent redundancy within the education divisions (Education Commission of States, 2016).
The focus of the commission is driven by the state's strategic work plan, for which goals are
established targeting institutional areas of concern. Members of the commission constitutes 16
people, 9 in which are selected by the public, 3 appointed by the governor, 3 by the Senate Rules
Committee and 3 by the California Assembly speaker (Education Commission of States, 2016). A

The role of an elementary school teacher is an important role because they are one of the first role
models that young children can look up to. They are the first few individuals that have the
opportunity to shape a child's life, and they may sometimes inspire their students to follow up in
their footsteps. To begin with, the general duties of an elementary school teacher is to create daily
lesson plans and instruct students on subjects such as science, literature, and math. More specific job
duties would be to manage the student behavior in the classroom, create a positive learning
environment for their students, grade papers, work with other staff members, and teachers must be

In order to reach this long term life goal of mine, I will need to develop my own education plan. To
begin with I will need to graduate high school. It is currently my senior year and I only have about 6
months until graduation. A few of the steps that I have taken include applying for colleges and the
FAFSA application. These first two steps are crucial because they will determine where I continue
my education and if I will be able to afford it or how much debt I will be in. I have thought about
several different colleges that I would like to go to and my first option would be Grand Canyon
University(GCU). If I can't make it into GCU then my next option would be Cal State Fullerton, Cal
State Long Beach, or Cal State Dominguez Hills. Getting into a University or a Cal State University
seems like a big goal to me. I have hope that I will make it into one of them but if I don't, then my
last option would be to go to Cypress or Fullerton community college and then transfer out into the
university of my dreams. Getting into the early childhood education field will hopefully not be as
tough as I expect due to my prior experience of working with younger children.
Throughout my teenage years, I have been able to bond and communicate with my four younger

"Oranges" by Gary Soto Essay
"Oranges"
By Gary Soto
Gary Soto was born April 12, 1952, in Fresno, California to Mexican–American parents. His
grandparents emigrated from Mexico during the Great Depression and found jobs as farm laborers.
Soto grew up poor in the San Joaquin Valley and learned that hard work pays off through chores,
such as moving lawns, picking grapes, painting houses, and washing cars.
When Gary was five his father died as the result of a factory accident, and his mother was left to
raise her three children with the help of her parents. Soto describes his family as an "illiterate"
family. They did not have books and were not encouraged to read. In fact, Gary did not start writing
poetry until he was in college. He also is an author of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brightness shows how much power the orange actually has. The references in the story build up the
power of the orange.
Soto talks about sacrifice, and we all go through that. What we do to please other people. The boy
had to give up his orange because he didn't have enough money. He told his girlfriend that she can
chose any kind of candy found in the isle, and she chose a chocolate bar that cost a dime, now the
boy only had a nickel and a pair of oranges in his pocket. Instead of feeling embarrassed and cheep
in front of his new girl, the boy decided to put up the nickel and an orange on the counter for the
saleslady.
Oranges are rare in the winter and their encounter might be precious. They convey a powerful
feeling. Making fire in the hands represents that he is in love. That he feels God like, he feels tough
like he can do it all when he's around his girlfriend.
The tone of the poem is simple with broken down sentences. Adolescent love is simple much like
childhood love. There are the sweaty hands, heavy breathing, butterflies in the stomach, but when
kids fall in love, its not true love, it most likely is just a crush. The words that are used in the poem
are not complex but short and meaningful. When reading between the lines, and reading the poem
more than twice, it is much easier to put two and two together and have a better

Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends
Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends During the 1870s to 1930, California agriculture had
become a most diverse region of the United States. Its wheat, meat, and crop farming, such as
grapes, walnuts, almonds, tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, and plums became the California's
major export industry, as well as nation's leading producer. According to The Elusive Eden by
Richard B. Rice, William A. Bullough, and Richard J. Orsi, the number of farms in 1925 had grown
to more than 136,400 farms, worth than $708 million. Besides the enormous development of the
agriculture, California had become the one of the best manufacturing and trading states in America.
It dominated the manufacturing industry and trading companies for aircraft factories, lumber
factories, steel plants, mining companies, petroleum companies and so on. According to Eric Foner
in Give Me Liberty – volume 2, by 1945, California had received one–tenth of all federal spending,
and Los Angeles had become the nation's second largest manufacturing center (863). Paralleled with
the economic development were numerous organizations found in California in order to control,
regulate, and support the commercial and trading activities, such as the California Fruit Growers'

Personal Narrative : My Personal Goals In My Life
The grey fog comes in, there is mist in the air, the cold wind increases my alertness and the
uneasiness of everyone causes silence for a brief moment until the high pitched blow of a whistle
starts it all. This sounds like a setting for a suspenseful corny movie but, really it's just a typical

Unlike all other game days, this one is very special. We take on UC San Diego in hopes of securing

Reflection Of The Cultural Event : Rooted And Ready
The cultural event, I attended this semester was on campus. From all the cultural events I could have
attended to the one I went to is called "Rooted and Ready". The event took place on Tuesday,
October 10 at the Ferman Presentation Room, in the Oviatt Library. Rooted and Ready was focused
on a lecture. The participants of Rooted and Ready were one Host and four guest speakers. The four
guest speakers are Professor Everto Ruiz, Professor Rodolfo Acuna, Professor Jorge Garcia and
Diane Velarde Hernandez. They all contributed as they all shared their own stories. Everto Ruiz,
known as Veto was actually a student at csun in the year of 1966 and he graduated in 1969.
Professor Everto continued to work on campus and at the moment he is still a professor, he is a
professor here at csun. He was also the first founder of United Mexican American students in 1967
while he was considered a student. Professor Rodolfo Acuna known as Rudy was the first Chicano/a
Professor at csun and was also the founding chair. Rodolfo was hired in the year of 1969. Professor
Jorge Garcia was a Professor at csun which was hired in the fall of 1970. Diane Velarde Hernandez
was just hanging around csun and then actually attended the school, she began in the spring of 1970

example, in the early 1900's Newport Beach experienced 18 drownings in one weekend. In 1918, 13
people drowned in San Diego in one day. Lifeguard services were modeled after east coast lifeguard
operations. "Swim lines" or "lifelines" were attached to shore. However, struggling swimmers were
not always able to hold onto them. Row boats(dory boats), the rescue paddle board, and throw–lines
were used. Swimming rescues were the last resort due. So, eventuality Californians supported bond
issues that allowed the Division of Beaches and Parks to acquire significant coastal land.
Acquisition of land led to the development of campgrounds. They both became instantly popular
and the immediate need for lifeguard service was met with a contract to the

Short Story About Soccer

Short Story
Goals
The grey fog comes in, there is mist in the air, the cold wind increases my alertness and the
uneasiness of everyone causes silence for a brief moment until the high pitched blow of a whistle
starts it all. This sounds like a setting to a suspenseful corny movie but really it's just a typical
gameday here at San Francisco State University.
Unlike all other game days, this one is very special. We take on UC San Diego in hopes of securing
a playoff spot. My emotions have been running all over the place, and no it's not because I am a
young adult trying to get through college. I have been playing soccer for 15 years already so it is
safe to say that soccer is my life. All I do is constantly train to get better and improve as much as I
can and today is my chance to showcase my talent at the highest level I've played at so far. It's my
second year at SFSU and my second year playing soccer here and with 20 games already recorded
for me at the school, I should be coming into the game with a cool head but I am far from it.
Chills run down my spine as I put on my cleats to complete my uniform. During our warm ups I try
and clear my mind and enjoy the music but I can't even accomplish doing that. 30 minutes go by
like it is nothing and I already hear the referee calling for the captains to do the coin toss right before
the game is about to begin.
"Huddle up boys! Are you guys ready today! RRRRRRRR! This is the swamp baby! We don't lose

Strike at San Fransisco State College Essay
Strike at San Fransisco State College
In the meantime at San Francisco State College, students in the Third World Liberation Front
(TWLF), a coalition of African–American, Latino, and Asian–American student groups, began
demanding reforms that addressed the concerns of students of color and the surrounding community.
After more than a year of negotiating with the school and organizing students, they called a strike on
November 6, 1968, that became the longest student strikein United States history. When it was
finally settled in March 1969, many of the students' demands were met, including the establishment
of a School of Ethnic Studies.

Hayakawa, one of the few faculty members willing to go back to work, felt it was his duty to cross
the picket line and continue the education of the students who desired it. He believed the faculty had
forgotten their primary mission––teaching, conducting research, and pursuing academic excellence.
On November 28, 1968, Hayakawa was named acting president of San Francisco State College by
California Governor Ronald Reagan and the trustees of the California state college system. With no
previous administrative or political experience, his selection was an unpopular choice among faculty
members and students. Prior to his appointment, Hayakawa had served on a five–person
presidential– selection committee whose members had reportedly agreed not to seek the office.
Hayakawa denied any agreement had been made and accepted the job under extreme opprobrium
from committee members. Hayakawa was viewed as eccentric in appearance and style. Wearing
Hawaiian carnation leis and an Irish tam–o'–shanter, his personal appearance was indicative of his
personality.
His first priority as acting president was to reopen the campus following Thanksgiving break ending
the strike. To achieve this objective, he yielded on some student demands and rejected others. This,
however, was unsatisfactory to student leaders, who employed 1,000 protesters to close the campus
on the first day following from Thanksgiving break. Taking a firm stance,

College Admissions Essay: How To Get A College
The process of having to find a college or a university to attend is a huge challenge, and a stressful
process. Even though I don't have to worry about getting into a University for another four more
years, I stress of the thought every day. Will I have a high enough GPA? What about my SAT
scores? Do my parents even have money saved away for me and tuition? What do I want to do with
my life? Thoughts like these run through my mind and stress me out all the time it seems, but I'm
learning how to take things one step at a time. The first step to insure I have a good future for myself
is making sure I have goals set and locked, once I know what I want to do with my future it helps

The way I see it with the constant problems we have surrounding our earth, a career involving the
environment will always be increasing in the jobs demand. With the problems we have here today,
such as our ice caps melting, meteors getting crashed into us, our sun potentially exploding, or our
ozone layer simply evaporating, I hope I will be someone who can contribute to stopping a disaster
such as those from happening. I don't know much of the career I would have to go into to begin
these goals of mine, but I do know that all these different careers involve a lot of studies, and classes
like environmental studies, and other science classes. University of Southern California is a private
college I've been interested in for awhile now, and is the main college I hope to enroll in someday.
I've always been interested in USC, more because of my family and how we've always cheered for
the Trojans during football season, and because it's a very good school, and I would be proud to go
there one day. USC is located in the University Park neighborhood in Los Angeles, California, but
for science students who want to take up a environmental science class, USC operates the Wrigley
Institute for Environmental Studies located on Catalina Island just 20 miles off the coast of Los
Angeles and home to the Wrigley Marine Science Center. The

The Economic Impacts of Budget Cuts to the CSU and UC Systems
This paper will focus on the economic impacts of the policy decision by California Governor Brown
to decrease funding of the California State University and University of California systems by way
of looking at the impact on the economy of less college graduates. I will do this by looking at two
variables. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State
University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. I will
then look at the decrease in the median income due to the fact that the budget cuts will cause a
decrease in enrollment which means there will be fewer college graduates and college graduates
earn more money than their non–graduate counterparts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(California State Governor's Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor
by IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system
"the CSU generates $5.43 for California's economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates
are taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested." (ICF
International) This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied
by $23, resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship
isn't necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still
be linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality
might be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than
$12.475 billion.
Another area I will look at for the California State University system's budget cuts is the resulting
enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by
enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn't have a direct
relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities
and is filled every semester. Enrollment is scheduled to decrease in

College Is The Mistake Of Not Taking Advantage Of School...
Many students in college make the mistake of not taking advantage of school resources and
activities. Afterall, taking advantage of college's resources and participating in activities is what
completes the full college experience. Those type of people believe that the only thing universities
have to offer is education. While that is partially true, universities offer more than just classes.
Universities such as Cal Poly Pomona, offer a variety of different things that can help students
succeed. Not only does it offer helpful activities and enjoyable events but universities intend to keep
it a safe campus in order for students to enjoy their full college experience. Cal Poly provides
students with a good learning environment with many resources, school safety and social events. Cal
Poly Pomona offers a variety of academic and personal help for all students. In college, there is
academic help such as tutoring, writing centers, and office hours with professors. Cal Poly Pomona
offers free tutoring daily for many different subjects. The library has a writing center where tutors
will help students develop a strong paper through guidance and support. Other tutors will meet up
with students and help steer them towards the right direction. In addition, professors always have
their doors open during office hours and are there for one reason and that is to help their students.

Migration Interview Essay
On April 15th, 2017 I interviewed a member of the Tongva tribe, which present day Long Beach
now inhabits. The tribal member, who asked to not be named, told me all about Long Beach's long
history as it was once a tribe and religious center and of CSU Long Beach's history as an ancient
burial site named Puvunga. The interview changed my understanding of my college campus and the
city that I now live in. It has made me more sensitive to the struggles that Native Americans faced
and still continue to face. The history of migration to California had great effect on the Puvunga
village and Tongva Tribe. The migration west in the 19th century forced Native Americans out of
their sacred lands and tribes as people from the North and South occupied ... Show more content on

The campus uprooted the burial sites and tried to keep them in their archaeology department, but
with the fight of my interviewee and many of his fellow tribal members, they were able to have the
bodies reburied in their original burial sites. It took a long and hard few years for the Tongva tribe to
get justice, as they had to be interrogated by many attorneys and prove their history in the Long
Beach area through multiple documents to prove their genealogy to the buried people. I also learned
that Puvunga is not only a burial site, but a place for ceremony and prayer. It is one of the largest
religious site for Native Americans in the entire country, however most people do not recognize it as
such an important landmark. This interview changed my understanding of the Long Beach area and
my campus. I realized that this community dates way further back than the westward expansion of
the United States and people should educate themselves on the rich history of Long Beach. I learned
how awful the United States people and government have treated Native Americans and how their
needs to be more justice for the people who were here long before we were. In conclusion,
interviewing a tribal member of the Tongva tribe helped me to understand Long Beach's diverse
history more and to begin to understand the great struggles

The Today 's Soccer Big West Conference Championship Game...
The live sporting event that I chose to observe was the 2015 Woman's Soccer Big West Conference
championship game with Cal State Fullerton competing against Cal State Long Beach. The game
took place on Sunday, November 8th at 1:00pm at Cal State Fullerton. This game is significant
because it determines who wins the Big West and who qualifies for the NCAA tournament, so
pressure on the players and intensity are very high. Throughout the game, I observed the game as a
sport psychologist professional and observed the player's and coach's behaviors that relate to Sport
Psychology. The three sport psychology concepts that were interpreted during the soccer match
were: situational awareness, arousal regulation strategies, and reinforcements.
One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The player's situational awareness has a huge impact on the ball movement because they know
where each player will be during certain situations and are able to make quick decisions under
pressure, thus moving the ball more efficiently. Another observation that portrays situational
awareness was when the goalie of Cal State Fullerton predicted where the ball was going to be
kicked during the attempted score of a Long Beach State player. Instead of waiting for the opponent
to kick the ball and then reacting, the goalie predicted where the ball was going to travel and jumped
as the opponent was making the kick to deflect the ball. According to Weinberg and Gould, athletes
who have good situational awareness, "always make it seem as if they are a step ahead of everyone
else." The goalie was able assess the situation quickly and stay a move ahead of her opponent
because she had been in this situation in the past. Her situational awareness gave her a competitive
edge, allowed her to make the appropriate decision, and prevented Long Beach State from scoring
any points. The second concept of sport psychology displayed during the soccer game was the use of
arousal regulation strategies. Arousal regulation strategies are methods that either increase or
decrease arousal levels of a person (Weinberg & Gould, 2011). It is crucial for athletes to be aware
of their psychological states so they can

social forces as who we choose to marry, where we are employed, and how much education we

library's database in order to establish whether considering a reduction in the library's journal budget
to subsidize legal file–sharing access is a feasible option or not.

The legal file–sharing access for students will be of a great benefit to both the students and the
institution at large. It simply means accessibility of first–hand information from credible resources
by each and every student at the institution. The proposal will focus on the possibility of subsidizing
the legal file–sharing access at the cost of the library's journal budget reduction.
The proposal will include a three–day research, which will be conducted by myself. It will engage
students, teachers, and the dean of the library as study samples to gather relevant information
concerning the viability of the proposed subsidization and what it will mean to diverse stakeholders
in the institution.
The following are four questions of the further research:
1. How do the students view the approach? Do they consider it academically strategic? Or do they
prefer it just the way it is?
2. How will the legal file–sharing access for students benefit students and teachers at large?
3. Will the protocol of setting up the legal file–sharing require a lot of investment? If yes, what is the
cost of operating and maintaining the database?
4. How long will it take to set up the legal file–sharing point?
Proposed Tasks
With your approval, I will address the following six tasks in order of succession to establish whether
considering a reduction in the library's journal budget to subsidize the

disrupting my life for years. Fatigue, anxiety, and loss of concentration and memory, exacerbated by
previously diagnosed depression. The best way to describe the feeling was if you stuck a big ball of
cotton stuck in your brain, clouding your ability to think. I began taking classes at the local
community college, but my mental faculties were severely diminished. Prompted by semester after
semester of poor grades I began spiraling into deep depression, haunted by lack of motivation and
confidence. A discovery of my passion and talent for politics and a strong internal desire to
overcome the setbacks of my injury slowly and steadily pulled me out of despondency. Continued
successes in politics and government courses bolstered my resolve while simultaneously giving me
a greater purpose. My

Compare And Contrast San Luis Obispo
Two towns. Both located on the coast of California. Both are small, bounded by the ocean. Both
hold around 40,000 citizens. One town, Martinez, is my hometown. The other, San Luis Obispo, is
four hours south of it and home to my favorite college. On the outside, they seem pretty similar, but
after experiencing the culture and lifestyle of each, one could not disagree with me when I say they
are extremely different. The most notable differences are the coasts of each one, their downtown
areas, and the activities provided by each city.
The Martinez Marina is a quaint spot for a stroll or a picnic, but that's about it. The cold and
constant wind takes away from the breathtaking views and it always seems to be overcast when I'm
down there. No ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is full of antique shops and restaurants which are usually fairly empty. Inhabitants of Martinez
enjoy driving to neighboring cities to shop and grab a bite to eat. The streets are silent every day
except Sundays. On Sundays farmers, vendors, and cooks set up stands for the farmer's market. We
get a reasonable turnout as people come from ten a.m. to two p.m. to buy their fruits and vegetables.
Thursday nights are farmer's markets nights for San Luis Obispo. Citizens come weekly and
vacationers will extend their stay to experience the well known event. The streets flood with people,
food, and all sorts of smells. Eating dinner there is typical, and many linger and chat with friends
and strangers alike. On the six other days of the week, unlike Martinez, the streets are not empty.
There are hundreds of name brand stores and restaurants. People can shop with friends, chat in the
plazas, stick their gum on the wall of bubblegum alley, or simply enjoy a stroll through the town.
The first time I explored downtown SLO, I was awestruck by the buzzing, upbeat atmosphere.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and connecting with others. Just walking around lifted
my spirits, it was especially appealing to revel in the excitement with my family. It is city life with
the small town

Counseling Reflection Paper

  • 1. Counseling Reflection Paper To begin with, I attended a counseling meeting that is held every Thursday at Los Angeles Pierce College. There was a total of 40 counselors which included adjunct and full–time counselors. The meeting was led by Transfer Center Director, Sunday Salter and two full–time counselors. The meeting was held to inform counselors of the news updates of Cal State Apply and People–soft errors. Everyone was told to freely ask questions if any of the topics were misunderstood, and if they had other information regarding these topics to please share it. Before starting the meeting, Sunday Salter, announced Alyce Fling–Miller as the new Counseling Center Department Chair. Everyone clapped and even some counselors gave her a hug. Alyce Fling– Miller gave a one minute speech of how fortunate she felt of taking this position and she asked collaboration from everyone with ideas of improvements she can make of the center. After the speech, Sunday Salter, discussed the glitches Cal State apply has. She explained that is the first–year Cal State apply launched their website; therefore, the application had a lot of confusing information. Sunday opened the demo application and explained that students with repeated courses within the same district should add them as repeats in their CSU application though it might not be marked as a repeat on the transcripts. Also, students in progress of submitting an academic renewal, should add it on their transcript entry. Counselors were very confused with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. I Was Very Excited To Begin My Internship At Paul Hastings, I was very excited to begin my internship at Paul Hastings, as it was my first real experience in corporate America. I've had multiple internships before, but I never felt like I was pushed into a better professional. Upon beginning this internship, I was looking forward to a challenge and that is absolutely what I got. Within my first month at Paul Hastings I had completed more work than I did at my last internship which lasted six months. At Paul Hastings, all though my title was intern, I was a member of the business development team. I learned quickly the work I was doing mattered and that it needed to be done well. The expectation there is extremely high, which is something I should've known going into a competitive internship at one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have not increased my attention to detail not only in my internship, but all aspects of my life and am grateful for the stern, honest and constructive advice from my supervisor, that allowed me to significantly improve a weakness of mine. During my internship, I had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. Most of my time was spent using excel and PowerPoint which provided another opportunity for me to strengthen my weaknesses. On excel I would conduct a lot of secondary research that pertained to the clients of the firm. For example, Barclays, who is a huge client in Paul Hastings financial services market, has over 700 people in relation to Paul Hastings. I went through an excel list of 700 contacts and verified through Google and LinkedIn searches whether they were still with the company or not. Most of my projects on excel were like this. Also on excel I managed the budget for the firm and kept track of how much was spent on each client, and what clients had paid the firm for its services. I tended to do well on budgeting projects and any projects involving excel and numbers. Once I realized the type of projects I was doing poorly on I was able to identify why and began making the necessary changes to improve my performance. Any task given to me that involved me having to think and analyze I did very well on. The more mundane and mind numbing projects, were the ones where I would miss multiple little things, which created a poor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Dr Dozer Summary Throughout Dr. Dozer's presentation on his work, I constantly made connections to what we learned in the histology unit. I especially remember when he mentioned the stomach ulcers and how they formed; I recalled back to the test and how that made sense because the stomach is not lined with the needed epithelium to protect it from the stomach acid, therefore creating the ulcers. I also found it odd yet funny when Dr. Dozer mentioned that ulcers where the most fun and exciting part of his job. Additionally, I made a connection to when we studied the cells and how they formed cancer, specifically to throat cancer and how it would have to be removed. The most shocking part was how the cancer was surgically removed; having to remove the entire throat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A glass door that doesn't lead to another o– chem lab or history class, but to a group of students who devote their time to the health and wellbeing of the rest of the 20,000 students who attend Cal Poly SLO. These students comprise a group called PULSE. PULSE: Peers Understanding Listening Supporting Educating. Each word describes exactly how PULSE serves the college. From daily consultations to campus–wide events, PULSE makes its presence known on campus, reaching out to serve and to advocate for students' needs. PULSE recognizes that there is nothing more important than students' health. Sure, there are the academic, athletic, artistic, and social lives to be lived, but success in all of these aspects of life rely on the premise that the student is healthy. To first–year environmental science major Sebastian Gonzales, health can be summarized using three simple words: "Sleep. Diet. Exercise." While this remains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alexandra has volunteered for REAL for the past quarter and provided an insight on how REAL serves Cal Poly. For a typical week, Alexandra is given three one–hour consultation periods in which she meets with students who walk in or sign up. Typically, the whole hour is taken up, and during this time, Alexandra simply listens to the student's concerns, questions, and problems, and offers educational resources. Some reasons why many students visited REAL, as Alexandra lists, include anxiety, depression, stress management, or grief. Oftentimes, the students who visit REAL even schedule a follow–up consultation weeks or months later, checking in with their PULSE confidant. And Alexandra never had an empty hour of consultations; every week her fall quarter, Alexandra filled her schedule with three different students, listening to and supporting their emotional ... • 9. My Undergraduate Work At California Polytechnic State... I chose to do my undergraduate work at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. Cal Poly was affordable, strong in the sciences and well known for its Learn by Doing philosophy. I received a phenomenal education in science and nutrition helping me feel prepared to begin graduate studies in advanced practice nursing. Prior to Cal Poly, I planned a career in nursing, ultimately deciding that studying nutrition at Cal Poly could provide an excellent foundation. I found nutrition fascinating. During my maternal and child nutrition course my passion surrounding the health and wellness of women, particularly during pregnancy, solidified. I began finding ways to supplement my learning in this direction. As a research assistant for a pediatric nurse practitioner, I sat in on breastfeeding support groups, consultations and researched topics of concern for new mothers. Some women had been advised to avoid certain foods while breastfeeding in order to prevent and treat colic symptoms. As a nutrition major, I am interested in diet modifications as therapies but also aware of the challenges women are facing to meet the current breastfeeding recommendations. Worried dietary exclusions may not be evidence based and could contribute to breastfeeding avoidance, I began researching to find the answers. With the support of my senior project advisor, Dr. Swadener, I dug into the clinic trials. I found some success in treating infantile colic with a maternal hypoallergenic ... • 11. Gentrification In The Workplace My first year living in Pomona was terrifying. Within the first three months, my roommate's car was stolen inside our apartment complex and was reported at a junkyard. Keshet Weinstein, a junior Cal Poly student who has been living in a gated Pomona apartment for six months, had a similar experience as my roommate, "Within the first month of moving in, my car was broken into while in my garage and I heard that there were 10 bikes stolen," Weinstein said. Gentrification has become a very broad buzzword. According to Webster dictionary it is described as the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that it conforms to middle–class taste. The term has been used negatively, suggesting displacement of poor residents as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Pomona City Hall website released earlier this February that Esparza had a meeting with the city council. Esparza wanted a 15–screen theater that would show movies in English, Spanish–language, other foreign or art–house fare. Not only would this preserve the Hispanic culture in the area, it would also spread influence. This would create new job opportunities as construction picks up. This might even spark more mainstream stores and restaurants to open. "It would make the school more attractive," said Jenny Thai, a senior at Cal Poly Pomona who lived in Downtown Pomona for a year. Urbanization is inevitable, whether we want it or not. Opposers are constantly bickering about the political and moral consequences of gentrification. This topic is indeed mind boggling and complex. However, there is a need to observe this multi–faceted phenomenon in a different angle. Change is the force of diversity, safety and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Personal Statement : Boarding The Plane It was March 23rd, 2013 when I was boarding the plane that would take me to Afghanistan on my first deployment. I only remember the date because on my birthday, two days later, I would be sitting in a V–22 Osprey flying into the volatile city of Sangin, a known Taliban hot spot. It was during one of my first few days there, that I found myself guarding the sole entrance to my company's operating base. Suddenly a van, old and rusting, turned the corner and came screaming towards my position. Wary of a vehicle–borne suicide bomb, I quickly raised my rifle and began a slow, steady squeeze on the trigger, as I'd been trained to. Just before the hammer would fall, sending bullets racing to end the driver's life, the van screeched to a halt. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In spite of such a tragic event, the existence of MSF was brought to my attention, and I had some insight on how I could go about accomplishing my goal of helping noncombatants afflicted by war. With renewed vigor, it was evident that to pave the road towards attaining this goal, I need to gain three to five years of experience working as a nurse in the U.S. before applying to work for MSF, whom I'm hoping will one day take me back Afghanistan or Iraq to fulfil this calling. In order to achieve my goal, I must first obtain either an Associate's Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Even though the College of San Mateo offers an ADN program, I have chosen instead to pursue a bachelor's degree. While the career opportunities for those with an ADN and BSN are the same, a few factors have influenced my decision. First, the prerequisites for CSM's program and many four year programs are both extensive and very similar. That is to say, completion of the associate's program will be just as time consuming as the several bachelor degree options offered in the Bay Area. For example, the CSM and SFSU prerequisites will both take at least two years to complete, and the programs themselves are each an additional two years ("Nursing at College of San Mateo"; "Bachelor of Science in Nursing"). This means both will take approximately four years, while only one earns you a bachelor's degree. Moreover, while entry level job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Rising Cost Of California Essay The Rising Cost of Tuition in California State Universities The cost of tuition for California State Universities has skyrocketed over the last 10 years. It has forced many students to take out expensive student loans to complete their educational goals, often times leaving graduating college students steep in debt as they enter the workforce. Some of the contributing factors that I am going to address are inflation, the rising cost of living and the varying costs of different educational institutions Webster's dictionary defines inflation: as a continuing rise in the general price level usually attributed to an increase in the volume of money and credit relative to available goods and services. During the last 10 years we have seen and felt the effects of inflation. Services and goods have gone up in price, but the minimum wage for most Californians stayed the same for a number of years. Inflation is a key factor that has affected tuition costs in most universities and has helped contribute to the steady rise. Public and private schools each typically have their own college inflation rate, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inflation definitely has played a role and will continue to do so in the future as the economy changes and adapts. It is clear that in the last ten years tuition cost spiked and in some areas doubled. The cost of living was also a contributing factor for the spiked tuition costs. California Universities are amongst some of the best in the nation, but they come with a price tag that unfortunately many cannot afford. Finally the varying universities and the quality of the programs often dictate the costs. This was clear in the comparison between Fresno State and California Polytechnic State. On October 27, wind speeds were recorded at higher than 50 mph (Alfrey, 2010). Due to this wind, the was an excess in vibrations happening inside of the joints. The State Of California Governing Bodies Essay The State of California Governing Bodies The California Postsecondary Education Commission was granted puissant duties and powers in 1974, after replacing the Coordinating Council for Higher Education (Education Commission of the States, 2016). The commission does not serve as a governing board but as an advisory committee to the House of Representatives, governor, and higher education institutions, with matters paramount to education policies (Education Commission of States, 2016). The commission holds the authority to review state public and private higher education institutions financial records, budgets, academic programs and provide recommendations for campus expansions. They are the first few individuals that have the opportunity to shape a child's life, and they may sometimes inspire their students to follow up in their footsteps. To begin with, the general duties of an elementary school teacher is to create daily lesson plans and instruct students on subjects such as science, literature, and math. These first two steps are crucial because they will determine where I continue my education and if I will be able to afford it or how much debt I will be in. I have thought about several different colleges that I would like to go to and my first option would be Grand Canyon University(GCU). If I can't make it into GCU then my next option would be Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, or Cal State Dominguez Hills. Getting into a University or a Cal State University seems like a big goal to me. Its wheat, meat, and crop farming, such as grapes, walnuts, almonds, tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, and plums became the California's major export industry, as well as nation's leading producer. According to The Elusive Eden by Richard B. Rice, William A. Bullough, and Richard J. Orsi, the number of farms in 1925 had grown to more than 136,400 farms, worth than $708 million. Besides the enormous development of the agriculture, California had become the one of the best manufacturing and trading states in America. It dominated the manufacturing industry and trading companies for aircraft factories, lumber factories, steel plants, mining companies, petroleum companies and so on. According to Eric Foner in Give Me Liberty – volume 2, by 1945, California had received one–tenth of all federal spending, and Los Angeles had become the nation's second largest manufacturing center (863). The Economic Impacts of Budget Cuts to the CSU and UC Systems This paper will focus on the economic impacts of the policy decision by California Governor Brown to decrease funding of the California State University and University of California systems by way of looking at the impact on the economy of less college graduates. I will do this by looking at two variables. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. I will then look at the decrease in the median income due to the fact that the budget cuts will cause a decrease in enrollment which means there will be fewer college graduates and college graduates earn more money than their non–graduate counterparts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (California State Governor's Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor by IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system "the CSU generates $5.43 for California's economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates are taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested." (ICF International) This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied by $23, resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship isn't necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still be linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality might be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than $12.475 billion. Another area I will look at for the California State University system's budget cuts is the resulting enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn't have a direct relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities and is filled every semester. The history of migration to California had great effect on the Puvunga village and Tongva Tribe. The migration west in the 19th century forced Native Americans out of their sacred lands and tribes as people from the North and South occupied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The campus uprooted the burial sites and tried to keep them in their archaeology department, but with the fight of my interviewee and many of his fellow tribal members, they were able to have the bodies reburied in their original burial sites. It took a long and hard few years for the Tongva tribe to get justice, as they had to be interrogated by many attorneys and prove their history in the Long Beach area through multiple documents to prove their genealogy to the buried people. I also learned that Puvunga is not only a burial site, but a place for ceremony and prayer. It is one of the largest religious site for Native Americans in the entire country, however most people do not recognize it as such an important landmark. This interview changed my understanding of the Long Beach area and my campus. I realized that this community dates way further back than the westward expansion of the United States and people should educate themselves on the rich history of Long Beach. I learned how awful the United States people and government have treated Native Americans and how their needs to be more justice for the people who were here long before we were. In conclusion, interviewing a tribal member of the Tongva tribe helped me to understand Long Beach's diverse history more and to begin to understand the great struggles ... The live sporting event that I chose to observe was the 2015 Woman's Soccer Big West Conference championship game with Cal State Fullerton competing against Cal State Long Beach. The game took place on Sunday, November 8th at 1:00pm at Cal State Fullerton. This game is significant because it determines who wins the Big West and who qualifies for the NCAA tournament, so pressure on the players and intensity are very high. Throughout the game, I observed the game as a sport psychologist professional and observed the player's and coach's behaviors that relate to Sport Psychology. The three sport psychology concepts that were interpreted during the soccer match were: situational awareness, arousal regulation strategies, and reinforcements. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The player's situational awareness has a huge impact on the ball movement because they know where each player will be during certain situations and are able to make quick decisions under pressure, thus moving the ball more efficiently. Another observation that portrays situational awareness was when the goalie of Cal State Fullerton predicted where the ball was going to be kicked during the attempted score of a Long Beach State player. Instead of waiting for the opponent to kick the ball and then reacting, the goalie predicted where the ball was going to travel and jumped as the opponent was making the kick to deflect the ball. According to Weinberg and Gould, athletes who have good situational awareness, "always make it seem as if they are a step ahead of everyone else." The goalie was able assess the situation quickly and stay a move ahead of her opponent because she had been in this situation in the past. Her situational awareness gave her a competitive edge, allowed her to make the appropriate decision, and prevented Long Beach State from scoring any points. The second concept of sport psychology displayed during the soccer game was the use of arousal regulation strategies. Arousal regulation strategies are methods that either increase or decrease arousal levels of a person (Weinberg & Gould, 2011). It is crucial for athletes to be aware of their psychological states so they can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Such social forces as who we choose to marry, where we are employed, and how much education we receive are all components of our culture, personal environment, and history. Depending on how you were raised, your view of these social forces will be either positive or negative because in most cases they either affect your status in society, when you will choose to have a family, or how much money you will have for the future. Subject: Proposal for the legal file–sharing access for students Purpose The purpose of this proposal is to request Kathleen M. Knutzen, Vice President of Academic Affairs to give the approval for a comprehensive study regarding the file–sharing accessibility from the library's database in order to establish whether considering a reduction in the library's journal budget to subsidize legal file–sharing access is a feasible option or not. The legal file–sharing access for students will be of a great benefit to both the students and the institution at large. It simply means accessibility of first–hand information from credible resources by each and every student at the institution. The proposal will focus on the possibility of subsidizing the legal file–sharing access at the cost of the library's journal budget reduction. The proposal will include a three–day research, which will be conducted by myself. It will engage students, teachers, and the dean of the library as study samples to gather relevant information concerning the viability of the proposed subsidization and what it will mean to diverse stakeholders in the institution. The following are four questions of the further research: 1. How do the students view the approach? Do they consider it academically strategic? Or do they prefer it just the way it is? 2. How will the legal file–sharing access for students benefit students and teachers at large? 3. Will the protocol of setting up the legal file–sharing require a lot of investment? If yes, what is the cost of operating and maintaining the database? 4. How long will it take to set up the legal file–sharing point?

Case Study : Hotel Management And Tourism Whenever you are planning to take a vacation, need to take a pit stop on the way to your next destination, or attending a special event because your boss required you to, you will be sure to encounter those of us who have chosen the hospitality field as a career. Within this industry, there are so many options to choose from including the culinary arts, hotel management and housekeeping, event planning, and travel agent and the main goal of those who work within these fields is to ensure you feel comfortable while you are traveling or staying close to home. Although hospitality is a broad major, they all require the same basic skills. The branches I want to explore are hotel management and tourism. I have a brief background in the field of hospitality, both as a student of Culinary Arts for two years in high school and as an officer of my high school's chapter of FHA–HERO. FHA–HERO is an acronym for Future Homemakers of America– Home Economics Related Occupations which, essentially, is a leadership organization geared towards the hospitality and home economics career fields. I was a competitor in a regional competition while in the program and placed first. Also, while attending high school I supervised and assisted in catering for various events. Some of their movement was so slow that it was hard to tell whether or not the dancers were actually moving. On the other hand, "Cascade of Moons" had 6 dancers instead of only two. This gave another element to the piece because I would watch one dancer, then another, and by the time I went back to the first dancer, she was in a completely different position. Although they were moving extremely slowly, because each dancer was doing something different, it felt as thought there was always something new to look at. There were more moments of rapid movements in this piece as well, which was very contrasting to the slower movement. The fast speeds, the moment before the big drop, and that sinking feeling in your stomach as you go up and down the track. In an odd twist of fate, a serious injury from a roller coaster as a 17 year old helped redevelop a motivation to succeed that I would not otherwise have known existed in me. The summer after I graduated high school I hit my head on the shoulder harness of a ride. Staggering off the ride I felt strangely fatigued and nauseous, walking haphazardly toward the exit gate. The immediate effects of the severe concussion I experienced lingered for two days, but the structural damage to my brain caused Post Concussive Syndrome, disrupting my life for years. Fatigue, anxiety, and loss of concentration and memory, exacerbated by previously diagnosed depression.
