Persuasive Essay On Changing Society
Since the beginning of time human kind has change and developed in many ways. we've discovered
fire, we learned how to hunt and survive in the big world. We traveled with our bare feet, to ships,
carriages, bikes, cars, and even planes. We've even change on how we communicate with each other.
Letters and telegrams were a thing in the past. now theirs cell phone and video chats. There's no
need for waiting or limitations when we can call or text someone from Miami to Paris France. We
are the people who walked on the moon and competed in the space race with the Soviet Union.
We've fought wars from guns to nuclear weapons. some people think we've gone to far with our
rapidly changing society. Some say we've been careless and only feed our needs and not considering
about others. Society is slowly changing from a warm heart to a cold one. Global warming is a great
and big example of us trying to make it seem not real. its real and its growing.
Can society stop global warming? can we prevent the inevitable from knocking in our doors,
wafting the air or even our very own shores. Yes we can and we have to. Stop putting it off and say
you'll do it later. What if there isn't a later. what if it's to late. We as an society can change our ways
and stop our own possible extinction. Yes we are literally working on our own demise and not even
knowing it. Based on the Job One For Humanity article, it states " Based upon a preponderance of
scientific evidence we recognize our global

Persuasive Essay On Climate Change
Climate change is a serious problem that will affect all of the inhabitants and systems of Earth. Gaia
was previously responsible for maintaining sustainability of the Earth's systems, however, Gaia is
losing its ability to maintain homeostasis because of these severe environmental changes that are
taking place. There must be a push to educate people on what the anthropogenic causes of climate
change are and how we can prevent them from negatively impacting our environment. People also
need to understand the severe consequences of climate change, which include desertification, rising
sea levels, more frequent severe weather, and the potential loss of our food supplies. The United
Nations Food and Agriculture Organization also needs to push for regulations on fossil fuel
emissions and help create incentives to prevent major corporations from polluting. Last, everyone
needs to make an effort to cut back on their individual emissions by using more sustainable energy
sources, cutting back on automobile use, and consuming fewer animal products. In today's society,
climate change should be seen as an undeniable fact, however, unfortunately many people do not
want to take action to combat climate change and are perpetuating the situation, not only for
themselves, but all of Earth's inhabitants. Due to anthropogenic action, our atmosphere is getting
warmer, our soil is degrading, and there is a lack of overall stability of the environment of our planet
due to Gaia slowly losing

The Scientific Study Of Climate Archives
Introduction Paleoclimatology is the scientific study of Earth's past climate using indirect data
("Paleoclimatology", 2015). Since the Industrial Revolution studying climate archives is important
because anthropogenic effects have become a prominent factor in climatic variation and they allow
scientist to get an idea of past climatic variation in order to predict future climatic trends (Redinger,
2006). The indirect indicators that are used in climate archives are known as climate proxies
(Ruddiman, 2013). There are 4 main climatic archives which are ice, trees, corals and sediments
however this paper will take an in depth look at ice and corals. The period of interest is the
Holocene, which is 10000 years ago when both of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Glacial ice is created through the annual deposition of snow that piles up in continuous sequences
due to vast plateaus (Bethan, 2014). There are 2 main ice sheets present on Earth today. The first
one is located in Greenland and dates up to 125,000 years ago while the other is the Antarctic ice
sheet that dates up to 800,000 years ago (Ruddiman, 2013). Ice thickness can provide clues about
the local precipitation and thicker layers corresponds to greater snowfall which tells us about global
temperatures due to the fact that more snow tends to accumulate at the poles during global warm
spells. However, majority of the data about past climate is gained from ice cores, are produced when
the ice sheets are drilled on the major axis of growth at about 4–5 inches in diameter and up to
lengths of 1m in order to get a vertical core that can be stored for analysis. Ice cores are not limited
to polar regions, they can be found on 6 of the 7 continents of Earth and can range in thickness from
mountain glaciers to continental ice sheet (Ruddiman, 2013) (Figure 2). However the 2

Global Warming Global warming is one big issue going on in this world for the past 250 years, it
has gotten worse due to us humans. Yet us humans, are not paying much attention to the issue,
letting the issue slip out of our hands. Global warming is to the point that it is solveable, but with us
not taking precautions and not caring one bit, later the problem will be to big to handle. There is
many hazardous of global warming. One hazardous would be climate change, with temperatures
increasing world wide. Due to temperatures increasing, the results can and will be droughts and
floods, shortage of food, increase of crops products, costs and diseases. Ever since the Industrial
Revolution the temperature has been a roller coster, up and down it goes. Research has showed that
the greenhouse affect is rapidly melting the polar ice caps, leading to increasing of the sea levels.
Due to the fast melting of the ice, in five years or less the Artic can be ice free, no ice, none!
Another result of having the ice melt rapidly, would be the increase of the ocean, this affect us really
bad, but it can also ruin a trip to the beach.
Due to the sea level rising, that means droughts, floods, and storms can happen. With those diasters
occuring the results of floods, droughts and storms lead to damages of either land, your own home,
crops, and anything in there way. Also needing to repair, bridges, roads, airport runways, power
lines, dams, seawalls and rail road tracks. Leading to cost of repairing the damages, increase of
crops, etc. Many peoople loose there homes to floods, storms, and when the floods and storms are
over they have to pay all the damages. the crops due to climate change, and temperatur rising, the
crops are not getting enough water, ending up in crops dying due to not enough hydration. Many
field owners end up loosing thousands of dollars worth of crops, making them raise up the cost of
the product. Because they need to get back the money that got lost due to the crops drying up.
"Severe rainfall events and snowstorms can delay planting and harvesting, cause power outages,

The Effects Of Global Warming On The World
Global warming is the term used to describe the rise in the Earth's temperature observed over the
last century. It has had significant effects on the polar ice caps, as the rising temperature is causing
them to melt. It has also been linked to rising sea levels as the rise has been quicker than ever
recorded in the last century. It is believed to be caused by increasing amounts of greenhouse gases in
the atmosphere, due to burning fossil fuels, other human activities and volcanic activity. It also
doesn't help that most of the world's forests are being cut down to be used for wood and other
materials, this means those plants can no longer photosynthesise and get rid of some of the CO2
(which is a greenhouse gas) from the atmosphere. The rising temperatures therefore have significant
effects on the Earth and its organisms. The most imminent and noticeable threat is that on the
organisms which live in polar habitats, such as polar bears and penguins, because of the melting ice
caps it means that their habitats are being destroyed. There has been a noticeable decline in the
numbers of Adélie penguins on Antarctica, their numbers have gone down from 32,000 breeding
pairs to 11,000 breeding pairs in the last 30 years. Over the last 40 years there has been a fall in the
population of polar bears, their status has changed from least concern to vulnerable to endangered.
Polar bears use drifting ice to catch prey and if there is no ice left then their eating habits will
decrease

Causes And Effects Of Climate Change
Climate Change
Climate change is an ever growing danger to us and the planet and the effects of it will be
catastrophic. Climate change will make the global temperatures rise which will melt the polar ice
caps putting many species at risk for extinction, it will also cause much stronger hurricanes and
tornados and other weather related problems, and the scary part is; there currently is no real
marketable solution to climate change that would not lower our living standards to what we had
before the industrial revolution. Scientists are convinced that if climate change is not stopped or at
least weakened by the year 2050, there will be no more polar ice in the north and south poles and
there may be no snow in the winter; which I find very concerning because this of course has drastic
effects. I am afraid that arctic animals like the polar bear, reindeer, arctic fox, seal, narwhal and
many more will become extinct and our great grandchildren won't be able to experience them like
we were able to. Scientists also say that the sea levels will most likely rise 4ft by the year 2100 and I
know that does not sound too bad, but trust me it is because may coastal cities and small villages
located near the current sea level will because uninhabitable for us and other land animals. This
would negatively affect 100's of thousands of people and a lot of precious and rare ecosystems will
be unfortunately destroyed.
I feel like another bad thing about climate change is the fact that the weather will change in negative
ways like making hurricanes and tornados much stronger and harder to combat which puts millions
upon millions of people's lives at risk.and will cost countries billions of dollars to repair the
damages caused by these stronger storms and if that is not enough, floods will also become a lot
more common do the rising sea levels and the increase in storms which can be deadly. I believe one
of the worst effects on the weather due to climate change is that fact that it will create more droughts
due to the high increases to the global temperatures and these droughts will have severe effects on
the people living in that area because typically when a drought is taking place, growing food is next
to impossible which

Climate Change and Evolution Essay
Climate Change and Evolution
The ecological consequences of global climate change are expected to be drastic although not much
is known as to how individual species will react to these changes. Irrespective of the causes of
climate change, whether anthropogenic or natural, it is imperative that we address these concerns, as
they will have widespread impacts on the human species, both directly and indirectly through
forcings on other species. The climate is not expected to shift evenly and the ways in which certain
species adapt or migrate due to these changes could be erratic and unpredictable. The rate at which
the earth's climate is currently changing is unprecedented and has not been seen in the past 450,000
years. Although many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The species' main food source, ringed seals, which live on the ice of Hudson Bay are becoming
increasingly inaccessible due to earlier ice melts. "We're wrong if we think that climate change is
something that will happen far off in the future. Polar bears are starving now and we need to act
now to stop climate change," said Kevin Jardine, Greenpeace climate impacts specialist. A recent
study by Canadian polar bear researchers showed that the species have less time to hunt during the
season and are forced to return to land undernourished. The study reports a decline in weight of both
male and female bears as well as a noticeable decline in offspring. As the Hudson Bay bears fast for
six to eight months out of the year, sustaining themselves on nourishment from the hunting season,
they are increasingly unable to survive the rest of the year due to limited food resources. Polar bears
are not the only species currently under stress form a warming climate however.
Masses of orange–and–black Monarch butterflies that travel on a 3,000–mile annual migration from
the United States and Canada covered an area of 42 acres two years ago. Now, however, the
butterflies that winter in the area cover a mere 13.5 acres. Monarch butterflies are very sensitive to
climate change; the smallest temperature change can have drastic impacts on their populations.
Monarchs have developed various adaptations in order to avoid being caught and eaten by
predators.

The Essay Global Warming Is Eroding Glacial Ice by Adrew...
Taking a Stand In the essay, "Global Warming is Eroding Glacial Ice," Andrew C. Revkin argues
that global warming is the primary cause for many of the world's natural disasters; including flash
floods, climate change, and the melting of the polar ice caps. He includes multiple accounts of
expert testimony as well as a multitude amount of facts and statistics to support his theory that
global warming is a threat to the world. However, in the essay "Cold Comfort for 'Global
Warming'," Phillip Stott makes the complete opposite argument. He argues that global warming is
nothing to be worried about and the melting of the polar icecaps is caused by the interglacial period
we are currently in. After reading both of these essays and doing ... Show more content on

The National Geographic validates this fact on their website by stating that when the article was
written in 2009 eighty five percent was now gone. They also validate many of the other statements
that Revkin makes throughout his essay. Finding out that the facts that Revkin included in his essay
are all true and that his expert testimony was taken from highly respected individuals in the industry
makes trusting Revkin and taking his side very easy. Another reason that I chose to agree with
Revkin's point of view is that after researching many of the points that Stott brings up in his essay I
found that many of them were not true. In "Cold Comfort for 'Global Warming'," Phillip Stott try's
to make the argument that global warming is nothing to be afraid of because it is not a threat. Unlike
Revkin, Stott does not use and expert testimony and very little facts to prove his purpose. In the
beginning of the essay, Stott includes information on the collapse of the Larson B ice shelf in
Antarctica. He then goes on to state that we have nothing to be worried about because when an ice
shelf melts it does not raise sea levels (Stott 306). According to the National Snow and Ice Data
Center, an ice shelf is a permanent floating sheet of ice that connects directly to a landmass. When
Stott stated that the melting of ice shelves does not cause a rise in sea levels he was not considering
the indirect consequence of it.

Can Polar Ice Cap Be Prevented
The melting of polar ice caps can be prevented. This is a serious issue. Polar ice caps melting will
cause the earth to warm rapidly, because the UV light will not have anything to reflect off of and
bounce back to space. Along with global warming, and the melting polar ice caps, the earth will be
warmed sufficiently by 2036 if the burning of fossil fuels is not stopped, or even slowed by a small
percentage. Polar ice caps are solid land masses with ice covering the whole land mass. The land
mass does not have to be a certain size to qualify as a polar ice cap. Research says that a polar ice
cap can be qualified as a polar ice cap if it is a solid land mass coved in ice. Ice caps here on earth
are made from water, but on other planets such as Mars the ice caps consist of other things than just
water. On Mars the ice caps are formed from water, ice, and carbon dioxide. They form from the
elevation the ice caps have, and from the lack of radiation from the sun. The melting of polar ice
caps can be prevented by reducing the amounts of greenhouse gasses that are pumped into the
environment daily, and that means that we need to slow the burning and consumption of our fossil
fuels. The United States cannot stop this alone, so countries need to work together and help prevent

vehicles produce. The earth is already gone past a point that the human population needs to take

The Causes Of Climate Change
The world is constantly changing and adapting. In particular, since the mid twentieth century,
mankind has been pouring alarming levels of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. As if that isn't bad
enough, humans have been treating the earth as if it is one giant trash bin. This destruction is being
cause by a few different reasons, including: factory farming, dumping toxic chemicals into water,
littering, and many other factors. All of this is adding up to cause climate change. Unlike a change
in weather, climate change is a terrible thing for the ecosystem and environment of the planet. It
brings up the question, how is this problem to be corrected? The answer could possibly be found in
the Disney tale, "The Lion King".
All across the world, climate change is beginning to happen. Climate change is a natural thing that
happens all the time but, humans are accelerating this change at an increasing pace in a bad
direction. Editor and publisher Sandra May of NASA says "Most scientists say that humans can
change climate too. People drive cars. People heat and cool their houses. People cook food. All
those things take energy. One way we get energy is by burning coal, oil and gas. Burning these
things puts gases into the air. The gases cause the air to heat up. This can change the climate of a
place. It also can change Earth's climate." These changes can also be referred to as global warming.
This heating of our climate across the globe is causing bad thing to happen already, and

The Warm Blue Dot: Evidence for Anthropological Global Warming
Introduction
Throughout the long history of the Earth, the global climate has fluctuated drastically, ranging from
tropical to glacial. In the mid–18th century, the Industrial Revolution began, and humanity began a
bilateral campaign: one waged with the goal of achieving a prosperous, industrialized future, and
another, inadvertently waged against the environment. The purpose of this literature review is to
examine the influence of anthropological global warming on the overall climate and to investigate
the impact of humanity compared to natural circumstances. Although there is a small, but vocal
dissenting minority, an overwhelming majority of researchers agree that ... Show more content on

Thankfully, Holden's prediction has proven incorrect, and by an enormous margin. Carter adds that
carbon dioxide accounts for less than 4 percent of atmospheric greenhouse warming; furthermore,
human–induced emissions are responsible for a measly 3 percent of the previously mentioned 4
percent (Carter 183). By this math, the grand total of human–caused carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere comes to an infinitesimal 0.0012 percent. To combat the IPCC on its charges that
Antarctic Ice was melting at alarming rates, Newman notes a study undertaken by NASA, in which
they found that Antarctica actually gained some 112 billion tons of ice each year from 1992 to 2001
and some 82 billion tons between 2003 and 2008 (Newman 30). Clearly, there certainly is some
amount of discourse and evidence that the impact of humans on global climate is being exaggerated
to some degree.
Evidence for the Relationship Between Carbon Dioxide and Temperature Variation Current research
has shown that the presence of carbon dioxide, a driving force behind temperature increases and
other climatic changes, is increasing in the atmosphere at an accelerating rate (Baum et al 396).
Justin Masih, assistant professor of chemistry at Ewing Christian College, admits that thermometer
readings sufficient in providing reliable global temperatures are only available back to the year 1850
(Masih 100). This climate record, although narrow, allows for a detailed

The Problem Of Global Climate Change
Other than political stories in 2016 we still see and hear of many Global Warming scenarios, what
causes them, who is the main reason for the cause, and when it actually started. We are going to take
a look at the reality of what is really happening.
Let's assume that all ice caps and glaciers in the world melted. What would be the result of such a
catastrophe, how long would it take, who would be affects, and would we suffer any loss because of
this?
Global climate change has been more and more discussed with the ever changing climate, and the
rise of water levels, we need to figure out why the water levels have been changing so rapidly. Is
there any change we humans can do to prevent disaster? Or are we on a collision course with no
way to turn around?
This is a list of the known ice inventories within our world that I have found from Dr. Robert
Johnston regarding if the ice melts. As you can see Dr. Robert Johnston has done his studies and
research about this topic.
World ice inventory
A melting of the entire list would cause a rise of about 200–250 feet of the world wide sea level.
This seems dangerous, but it would take several hundred years to occur, if at all for that to even
happen and even if it did we would no longer be alive.
As Dr. Robert Johnston said "Today the Earth has 148 million sq. km of land area, of which 16
million sq. km is covered by glaciers. A sea level rise of 66 meters would flood about 13 million sq.
km of land outside of Antarctica." If we

Global Warming : A Catastrophic Situation
Global Warming: A Catastrophic Situation Within the last fifty years, global temperature has
increased significantly faster than the past 650,000 years. In the next one hundred years, the global
temperature is supposed to rise by three to nine degrees. This may not seem like such a big change
however, with a rise in temperature, many negative consequences will being to show. Some of these
consequences include but are not limited to destroying the O–zone, increase in disease, powerful
weather disasters, rising sea levels, and overall decrease in health for all things living on Earth. If
people do not become informed by the consequences of what they do every day, humans may no

However, with Earth's surface creating more heat, it causes the atmosphere to become cold. Similar
to a human wound, the O–zone will not be able to repair itself quickly when cold (Baker, M.). With
the hole not being able to repair quickly, harmful rays from the sun are able to reach Earth's surface
and create more harmful heat. This is very similar to a double–sided sword. Global warming will
heat the surface causing the O–zone hole to be continuous, and in turn, the rays coming in from the
O–zone will continue to heat Earth's surface ("Climate Change: Basic Information."). If Earth's
surface is warmed enough, it will also start to warm the bodies of water. The heating waters are
currently the reasons for the melting of ice shelves. Luckily, the ice shelf melting is not as serious
due to the water flowing and refreezing ("Global Climate Change: Research Explorer"). However if
the ice shelves are melting too fast then that could cause complete changes in glaciers and the land
mass in general. With the loss of land mass from mainly Antarctica, it means a rise in sea levels.
Some think that a rise in sea levels would not be bad however; the most important major cities in the
United States are located in areas directly beside the sea. There are also cities that are under water,
however, due to a more elevated land masses protecting it, these cities are do not feel an impact
currently.

Causes Of Climate Change
We have inhabited the earth for thousands of years, constantly moving around and changing the
landscape of our planet. But the main problem caused by our interference in nature is climate
change. Even though Planet earth is always changing, from Pangaea to the Great Yellowstone Thaw.
Climate change just might be the way earth is ever changing, but Humans are believed to be the
main cause of climate change mainly because Science proves that it is caused by carbon emissions
from the cars we drive.
Scientist started to detect the starting of climate change during the first Industrial Revolution. "The
evidence is overwhelming." states the Union of Concerned Scientists, "Different records show that
the Earth is warming fast, and that all the heat–trapping emissions we release into the atmosphere
from burning fossil fuels is changing our climate." According to NASA, the global temperature has
risen 1.7 degrees since 1880, the start of the first Industrial Revolution, the carbon dioxide levels
having risen 407.06parts per million causing the polar ice caps to melt rising sea levels 3.4
millimeters per year. If we have stricter rules on how we use things, then we might be able to slow
the effect of climate change. "Record–keeping is crucial, Reeves says, because it's difficult to be
sure what impacts chemicals are having when most states don't require farms to report data on how
they're being used. Rollback of these reforms would be a money–saver for agribusiness groups that

The Effects Of Climate Change On The World Essay
All that needs to be done for a person to see that climate change is upon the world is to look outside.
The seasons that used to be defined by their drastically different weather have started to blend into a
year–long battle for hot and cold, along with unusual rainfall during typically dry spells. Climate
change is the change in global or regional climate patterns. Global warming is the idea that the
world is being heated by a few degrees every year brought on by an increase in carbon dioxide
levels from the growing use of fossil fuels. Together these two things will begin to change the
habitats as we know them and could devastate the world as we know it. There have been many
studies on the changing climate, and people have begun to realize how significant of an issue this is
in present time. The government and the EPA have released many bulletins on changes that are
currently taking place, and have projected that it will only continue to escalate to the point that
humankind will have a minuscule chance of survival. There are those who do not agree that people
are causing the shut–down of the climates, or adding to the breakdown of the ozone layer that
protects us from radiation in the atmosphere. Some scientists refuse to accept that taking any
preventative measures will have any impact on the climate changes, in lieu of the astounding
evidence that points to us being the major contributors of the carbon dioxide buildup in the air.

A Dramatic Story With A Fantastic Title
A Dramatic Story With a Fantastic Title It was March 20th, my sister Ariana's birthday. We had
decided to escape the house and go to the Sweet Shop to celebrate. The door chimed as we walked
in, both of us complaining about the heat. Which, in turn, earned us a look from the cashier. One
frozen yogurt, two bags of candy, and a giant lollipop later we were sick of sugar and gossip and
decided to head back home. Once outside, I fought for a while with the vicious snake that was my
bike lock. Then, with the flip of two kickstands, we were off. We were biking one in front of the
other, cruising over the tree–shaped shadows and avoiding the blindingly bright places where the
afternoon sun glinted through the clouds. We were riding, giggling at some nonsensical words, as
we got ready to cross the street. I was vaguely aware of a giant yellow blob whizzing toward me as
my bike turned left onto the white–striped crosswalk. And then everything stopped. I saw the sheen
of a taxi cab's yellow shell. I saw the front tire of my bike twist as I skidded into an orange
headlight. Everything went silent. Although it briefly entered my conscious I was biking straight
into a car, all I could think was: what a nice day. I felt like I was flying. It was great, really, because
I've wanted wings since I came out of the womb. But that was when I realized I was flying the
wrong way: backward. My trance ended abruptly as I was slammed against the ground. And that
was when Everything Went Black.

Negative Effects Of Global Warming
Ever since mankind took a huge step forward with the age of industrialization, we have
subsequently been destroying of own beloved planet. If no serious attempt to reduce our
contribution to global warming, we will lose things that makes this planet so unique. Whether
people think global warming is a serious threat or not, there is no denying the major physical effects
to our planet throughout the past two centuries. Global warming not only shows how poorly our
everyday live treat our planet, but brings along changes to both our climate, geography, and
economical issues. The term "Global warming" is self explanatory. It is the gradual increase in
average global temperature. While this change is miniscule, the effects are devastating. To state the
obvious, our planet is getting hotter everyday. With that being said, the result of having a warmer
climate raises the risk of more natural disasters, specifically hurricanes. With higher planet
temperatures, the more water in our oceans will evaporate into our atmosphere. For those who do
not know, all hurricanes develop in warm, tropical waters, where precipitation in the air is plentiful,
(Irish). With greater amounts of precipitation in the atmosphere, the greater the chances are for
tropical storms and hurricanes to develop. But it is not solely an increase in number of hurricanes,
but a higher number of high intensity hurricanes such as category three's, four's, and fives. As time
continues to pass, sea levels as well

Climate Change Is Caused By Carbon Emissions
Climate change is resulted due to unrestrained pollution. Carbon emissions that enter the earth's
atmosphere have a very dangerous effect on our environment, economy and wellbeing. This major
problem earth is facing can be fixed if we all work as one.
Climate change is caused by carbon emissions being trapped in earth's atmosphere. The pollution
that is trapped in our atmosphere then heats up changing earth's climate patterns. The act of burning
fossil fuels for energy has the biggest contribution to climate change. Scientists are confident that
global temperatures will continue to rise for many years to come, all because of human activities.
The intergovernmental panel on climate change also known as the IPCC came to a conclusion that it
is 90% probable that the globe is warming due to human activities over the past 250 years. The
IPCC, has a large depth of knowledge with having over one thousand three hundred scientists. The
IPPC scientists predict a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century.
Whilst the climate changes and the globe warms there are several major effects that is having a large
impact on our environment, for example the polar ice caps. Each summer due to climate change the
polar ice cap is melting due to warm water. Sea ice reflects heat from the sun, while water adsorbs
it. Less ice means more heat which means less ice. Temperatures are rising drastically with our last
decade being the hottest on record.
With the polar ice caps

Global Climate Change And Global Warming
Energy is a huge part of our daily lives and over the years we have seen energy consumption rates
raise significantly. It really isn 't much of a secret that global climate change is happening. From the
melting of the polar ice caps, to record severe temperatures, rise in natural disasters, rise in
pollution, greater number of vector–borne and water borne illnesses, and much more. Unless there is
something done to change the current technology being used to provide energy to the human
population global climate change will only continue to get worse. Climate change is the biggest
global health threat of the 21st century and we must act and change the use of energy technology
and oil for our sustainable future. In order to understand the health impacts of global climate change
we must first look into what is global climate change and global warming. In short global climate
change are any natural changes on our planet that are being caused by human activities. These
human activates mainly consist of the burning fossil fuels, coal and oil. When these fossil fuels are
burned pollution is created. This pollution fills and form what is called greenhouse gasses and in
turn creates the greenhouse effect. These gasses re–radiate thermal radiation in all directions and
trap in heat on our planet. Without these gasses this thermal radiation would normally dissipate back
outside of the atmosphere. This is much like the effect of a greenhouse in which this effect gets its
name from.

Global Warming is Causing the Destruction of the Environment
Global Warming is Causing the Destruction of the Environment
There is no dispute about the basic facts of this issue: carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas; the
world's automobiles and power plants pour nearly 6 billion tons of it into the air every year; and
there are countless indications that the planet is warming. Perhaps the most revealing is the fact that
average temperatures have been gradually rising, and the ten hottest years on record since the 1860s
have occurred since 1973.
In his book, See, I Told You So, Rush Limbaugh misquoted a Gallup poll, claiming that 53% of

If you were to come back in, say, the year 2000, and if we have taken another jump in temperature
[like since 1980], then you are going to see some very strong statements from me and my
colleagues. (3)
The strong statements of scientists on this issue derive from the catastrophic potential of even a
small amount of global warming. The reason why the planet Venus bakes under 900–degree heat is
not because it is so close to the sun, but it is trapped under greenhouse gases. Global warming is a
serious threat here on earth because it would cause more severe weather, increase the range of
deserts, melt the polar ice caps, cause a rise in sea level (which, according to the fossil record, is a
major cause of mass extinctions), as well as expand the habitat of deadly tropical diseases.
The only scientific opposition to the global warming theory comes from the expected places:
scientific commissions funded largely by the fossil fuel industry, which is responsible for creating
the greenhouse gases in the first place. This is highly reminiscent of the all the "scientific" studies
produced by the tobacco companies proving that cigarettes do not cause cancer. In a like manner, the
industry–backed Global Climate Coalition has mounted a huge public relations campaign to prevent
policies that limit fossil fuel use. It issued a report called "Changing Weather? Facts and

Global Warming : A Hot Topic Worldwide For Over A Decade
Global warming has been a hot topic worldwide for over a decade. While many believe it is a
problem that needs to be tended to immediately, others believe or claim for political reasons that it is
just propaganda. Global warming is described by Bodnar as "The increase in temperature around the
world caused by gases in the atmosphere." (Bodnar 7) Many scientists believe that carbon dioxide
gases are the main cause of Global Warming. Things such as old factories and cars emit greenhouse
gasses into the atmosphere when they are put to use. This generally comes from old cars and old
factories made before the nineteen nineties, because in recent years technology has been
manufacturing more eco–friendly cars and factories that produce less waste. Since the discovery of
global warming there have been many technological advances made in an attempt to try put a stop
to global warming such as the use of wind power, solar power, and hybrids. Many would agree that
the world is indeed getting hotter by the day. It has been doing so since 1950 according to Borick.
Each year since two thousand the world sets a new high for record heat. It is believed that as more
and more people are being born it will only get hotter. As more people begin driving more carbon
dioxide will be released into the atmosphere as a result. In September of twenty fourteen record heat
was recorded globally. This has been the warmest year since weather patterns first began being
recorded (Borick 2). It is

Persuasive Speech on Global Warming Essay
PERSUASIVE SPEECH ON GLOBAL WARMING by: Jennifer Zelmer
Introduction: We all know about global warming, but do we really care or try to do at least some of
the things that will help stop it or at least slow it down?
1) Over the last century our planets temp. has risen 1 degree. I know that doesn't sound like much
but it's been enough to melt a lot of the polar ice caps and glaciers. A) The hottest years ever
recorded were in the late 1990's and early 2000's. B) In 2007 there was a massive polar ice melt and
the amount of glaciers and sea ice has decreased quite a bit since the 70's. This has already caused
the sea levels to rise. C) The U.N. panel on climate change projects that by the end of this ... Show

C) And of course we can't forget the three R's. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Only buy what you
need , ruse whatever you can, like containers and paper, and recycle what you cannot reuse. It's
really as simple as that.
4) Th extra heat our homes produce also adversely affects the planet. A) By sealing and insulating
our homes better we can help stop that and save money on our energy bills. B) Also instead of
turning up the heat when your cold, put on an extra layer of clothes. Again you'll be saving energy
and money. C) If at all possible, use solar energy. After all it's free, all you have to do is buy the
equipment. And you would be helping to ensure that our ancestors still have a planet to live on. D)
Finally, by turning off unused power sources such as tv's and computers, again you will be helping
the environment as well as saving money on energy bills.
Conclusion: If we all would do as many things that we possibly can to help reduce greenhouse
gasses in our atmosphere, we would all be doing a great thing by helping to ensure that our grand–
kids and theirs will still have this beautiful planet to live on and enjoy. Thank

Future Ice Age: An Explanation in Mr. Calvin's The Great...
It is a beautiful day outside. The sun is shining brightly down on the earth. The temperatures are
warm, and you are outside enjoying the beauties of nature. Then suddenly the temperature begins to
drop. It is now cold and brutal outside. You would probably be wondering what just happened to the
weather. What could have caused this? With what Mr. Calvin has said in his story The Great Climate
Flip Flop this may and will happen soon if we do not choose to act.
Now, you are most likely thinking what is a climate flip–flop and why should I even care about it?
The reason you should care is simple this has the potential to be a very dangerous situation if it is
left unattended. According to Calvin if we do not act now our climate will change ... Show more

The conditions that he states will occur if it fails range from the Gobi Desert whipping much more
dust into the air to tropical swamps decreasing their production of methane, which would cause
Europe to cool. The problem is being caused by the copious excess amounts of water being in the
NAO which is causing it to become inconsistent. This is a problem because as I stated earlier the
climate will change to another ice age if the NAO becomes so erratic that it just fails.
There are often people who wonder what is the difference between climate change and greenhouse
warming. The differences between the two are vast. Climate change can either be hot or cold
temperature changes within a certain region, area, or even the world depending on how widespread
the change is. Greenhouse Warming is a part of what can cause a climate change. It can come from
humans burning fossil fuels to normal occurrences that happen in nature. However, it may occur and
when it does it heats up the planet. We should be competent enough to distinguish the difference
between them so that we will be able to be informed about what is going on in the world and not be
uninformed and use our unawareness as an excuse to do nothing.
I hope by having read this you will understand that our climate is fragile. We need to be able to take
care of it. If we do not take action

Is Global Warming a Threat to Polar and Glacier Ice? Essay
Is global warming a threat to polar and glacier ice?
Global warming is a phenomenon whereby the earth's average temperature increases. Global
warming has a devastating effect on the Earth's climate. Scientists are still studying global warming
effects, and have not reached a consensus about what will happen in the future. The melting of the
polar ice caps and global warming are getting more and more attention lately. If melting glaciers
caused by global warming, or it is a natural process – at this moment opinion of scientists and
experts is diverge. There are many causes of the melting of the polar ice caps and global warming,
some of which are natural. However, the activities of man are responsible for much of the rapid

Philipp Stott in his article "Gold Comfort for Global warming" considers that the temperature
change as a perfectly natural event. He argues that climate change is part of Earth's cycle, and that it
right on schedule. He believes that people do not have much control over nature. He talks about the
collapse of Larsen B ice shelf in Antarctica, the largest single event in a series of retreats by ice
shelves in the Antarctica over the last 30 years. He considers this crash "perfect natural disaster" for
journalists who are of the view that global warming is a result of greenhouse gas emissions and
human activity in the modern world. According to P. Stott, the collapse of ice is a natural process of
nature, and icebreakers are falling after a hot summer and high winds. He finds it impossible the
North Pole is disappearing and neither is the South Pole. He writes about studies, which have shown
that West Antarctic Ice Sheet may be getting thicker, not thinner. He describes the Antarctica as
unusual continent with many "climates", and many geomorphological and glaciological regimes.
Researchers of University of Illinois have reported that the temperature in Antarctica have been
falling in the last decade. And it is not surprising, according to him, when parts of the continent are
cooling to see some of the ice melts such as Larsen B. And at the time as people

Global Warming And The Rising Sea Levels
One of the first indicators of global warming when it was first discovered and discussed was the
acknowledgment of rising sea levels. In many climate change and apocalypse movies the rising of
the ocean is the downfall of the population of the planet. The topic about the rising sea levels was
not always indisputable. When the topic of climate change was first brought up it was mostly known
as global warming and connected to the greenhouse effect. The notion of oceans raising above sea
level was once widely seen as controversial. New York Times articles from 1980s until now show
the development of the debate on rising sea levels through time and the the further development of
science. There has been a change in The New York Times reporting on the issues of rising sea levels
caused by the climate change from doubt about it in the 1980's to confirmation of the problem in
2010's. The rising ocean seas presents the problem of flooding and worse hurricanes. Lives and
homes are at stake because of this worsening problem that took many years to agree on. Not only
does the rising of the ocean hurt the human race but also the ecosystem, especially marine life. It
would cause displacement of many on land animal and change habitat locations for sea life. As we
've seen on television, polar bears are enormously affected by the melting icebergs in the arctic.
Earlier this semester, we saw this problem portrayed in Elizabeth Kolbert's book, Field Notes from a
Catastrophe. In chapter

Effects Of Global Warming On The Human Body And Vigor
To commence, the effects of global warming to the human body and vigor are both indirect and
direct. Through the warming of the earth, extreme meteorological conditions and patterns will ensue
with more regularity; storms, inundations, heat waves, and droughts will proliferate and will affect
human condition directly in such manner that destroys homes, contaminates water sources, and
diminishes food resources. These events will consequently entail a high risk of disease and exposure
to disease. Persons with pulmonary complications and conditions, such as asthma and allergies, are
at peril for other hazards. As air quality steadily worsens due to the burning of fossil fuels and
carbon emissions, people with existing conditions of asthma could experience more asthma attacks
and further aggravation of the lungs. Rising temperatures and higher concentrations of carbon
dioxide will also stimulate plants to mature earlier, grow faster, and produce pollens that are more
potent, worsening conditions of allergies of people around the world. Since allergy related diseases
rank among the highest chronic illnesses in the United States, productivity levels will likely
diminish as a result. However, cutting carbon emissions and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere of
the Earth could improve air quality, and as a result, improving pulmonary conditions of million.

The Cause And Effects Of Global Warming
Have you ever heard about global warming? Global warming is a gradual increase in the
temperature of the Earth's surface both water and land . Years ago, when the Earth experienced an
increase in temperature it was a result of natural causes but today it is being caused by the
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere produced by human activities. The greenhouse effect occurs
because of the presence of specific gases in the atmosphere at a high rate. These gases play a major
role in maintaining the earth's thermal energy. Due to absorbing a portion of the infrared radiation
emitted from its surface and retaining it in the atmosphere; Subsequently, heating the surface of the
Earth and maintaining its temperature constant or up to the level that makes life possible. The rise in
the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere led to the retention of a larger amount of thermal energy in
the Earth, affecting all its operation and system. Global warming affects the planet seriously in
several ways including climate change, melting polar ice caps and widespread extinctions of
species.
One of the most immediate and obvious effects of global warming is climate change. It is a major
and permanent change in Earth's climate pattern of temperature, snow, humidity, rainfall level and
wind speed of a region. Scientists strongly believe that global temperature will continue to rise
because of the greenhouse gases produced by human activities. The average surface temperature of
the planet has risen

moreover, the fracture has developed faster this year in a region officially unprotected to warming
temperatures. (Patel)
a. The author is supporting the argument that if humans don't do something soon it would be too late
to prevent global warming to keep developing and getting worse. She's showing the impact that
global warming is having on one of the Antarctic ice shelves overtime and what is its aspect today.
II. Are humans responsible of global warming?
Some people think that global warming has been caused because of human activities.
"The rise in atmospheric CO2 over the last century was clearly caused by human activity, as it
occurred at a rate much faster than natural climate changes could produce. Over the past 650,000
years, atmospheric CO2 levels did not rise above 300 ppm until the mid–20th century"
(Climatechange.procon.org )
According to that atmospheric levels record, the rising of the atmospheric CO2 levels has been
caused by the human activities and if human activities didn't happen, the changes that natural
climate could produce would have happened way slower so that means less damage to the globe
since the changes would have occurred at a speed that the climate is designed to.

Feminist Roles In Frankenstein By Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a gothic novel that was wrote during the 1800s, or other known as
the enlightenment era. During this era, the ideas of discovering the natural law of the universe and
the thirst for scientific knowledge were being spread all across Europe. Mary Shelley incorporates
these ideas with Victor Frankenstein's thirst for dangerous knowledge, and through allusions of
Prometheus and the Genesis story. Shelley not only incorporates other supplementary readings into
Frankenstein, but uses feminist literary theory as a way to put to life the idea of women's inferiority
to men.
Women in the 18th century were often referred to as " weak, illogical, timid, or even emotionless" (
Radek–Hill, " Women in Literature"). This idea of women will stick around all the way until the mid
1900s, and has played a big historical issue for decades. In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the idea of
women being inferior to men is shown in many ways and covers throughout the book. One way she
shows feminism is how she constructed the book to where the women in the book play a
significantly lesser role than men. Victor Frankenstein, and his monster are the two big roles in the
book, leaving little light for the female characters. When you analyze the male characters, you will
notice that their actions throughout the book lead to the death and suffering of a female character.
Victor is the most to blame for this because he did not speak up about his monsters creation, who in

Scientists now say global climate change is occurring much more rapidly than originally predicted,
because of feedback loops, and that the polar ice caps may be entirely gone by 2020, not by 2050 as
was earlier predicted. The world's leading scientists also say that delayed action will increase the
risk of adverse environmental effects and will likely increase the cost.
The melting glaciers and ice caps will have, and in places are already having, major impacts on
coastal and inland communities, cause social and economic upheavals, and greatly impact the
diversity and distribution of species – not to mention changing the appearance of beloved
landscapes. The Earth is hurting in the mountains of Eastern KY and WV, with mountaintop
removal practices and the filling of hundreds of miles of headwaters with toxic sludge, and the
disease and destruction brought to the lives of the people whose homes and heritage are found there.
We see it hurting in the Amazon region, the world's largest and most diverse forest, which is
predicted to be 50% gone by 2050 – almost unimaginable.
I won't spend too much time on figures, but it's important to understand the scope of what we're
dealing with. It is estimated only 22% of the world's frontier forest remains, that is forest relatively
undisturbed by human activity and intact enough to retain its biodiversity,

Essay about Melting Ice Caps
Melting Ice Caps The Arctic is global warming's canary in the coal mine. It is a highly sensitive area
which is profoundly affected by the changing climate. The average temperature in the Arctic is
rising twice as fast as elsewhere in the world (nrdc.org). Because of this, the ice cap is getting
thinner, melting away, and rupturing. Here is an example of this; the largest ice block in the Arctic,
the Ward Hunt Ice Shelf, had been around for 3000 years before it started cracking in 2000
(nrdc.org) By 2002, the Ward Hunt has cracked completely through and had started breaking into
smaller pieces. The melting ice caps are affecting the earth and its inhabitants in many ways. In this

Generations before us did not take this measure, but maybe our generation should. The melting ice
caps are having a dramatic affect on the polar regions of the earth. For example, the average
temperature in the Arctic is rising twice as fast than the rest of the world (nrdc.org). The once
prominent ice is now melting at a dramatic speed, which is affecting native people, wildlife, and
plants. When the Ward Hunt Ice Shelf splintered, the freshwater lake that it surrounded drained into
the ocean, along with the ecosystem that inhabited it. Polar bears, whales, walrus and seals are
changing their feeding and migration patterns, making it harder for native people to hunt them
(nrdc.org). Because of the flooding, entire villages will be uprooted order to avoid being swamped.
Also, the Arctic coastlines are beginning to move as well. The melting ice caps are threatening the
native peoples' cultural identity and their very survival. Ice–dependant animals, such as walruses
and ring seals will be greatly affected by the melting ice caps (treehugger.com). They have fewer
places to rest on, as well as fewer places to hunt. If the ice caps keep melting, their lives will
become in great danger. The melting ice caps are not only affecting the Polar Regions, but they are
also affecting the rest of the world as well in the form of rising ocean levels. Melting ice caps are
contributing to rising ocean levels as well.

The Pros And Cons Of Climate Engineering
Climate Engineering
What if humans could find a way to combat climate change? This is where climate engineering
would come into play. Climate engineering, also known as weather modification or geoengineering,
is "the intentional alteration of Earth's climate aiming to counter climate change" (Wikipedia par. 1).
Some of the proposals for climate engineering include shooting dust into the stratosphere, putting
iron dust in the oceans, and even placing mirrors in space to reflect sunlight. One example of
weather modification was implemented during the Second World War, where airports in the United
Kingdom would use flamethrowers installed on runways to get rid of acid fog. This solution was
successful, however each airport used approximately 0.5 million liters of fuel per hour. In the end,
the disadvantages of climate engineering outweigh the benefits by not solving all of the Earth's
climate problems, cooling only certain areas of the planet, and drastically changing the weather
patterns on Earth.
One of the reasons the cons of climate engineering outweigh the pros is that it does not solve all the
planet's problems. An example of this is ocean acidification, which is the decrease in the pH levels
in our oceans "due to carbon dioxide being absorbed into the sea water" (NOAA par. 1). This can
have harmful effects on marine life because an increased acidity of ocean water can impact an
organism's structure and immune system as well as cause coral bleaching, like what is

Don't Ignore Climate Change
Purpose : To persuade my audience to change their perception on climate change.
Thesis : Climate change is a controversial topic that some believe to be fake. Studies show that
climate change is a real danger going on around us. These studies uncover what the future holds for
humanity. As humans it is our moral duty to do what is right by earth, that has been our home for
millions of years.
1. Attention A. Read quote by the 8th Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki–moon, "We

The Threat, Responsibility, and Solutions to Climate Change and Global Warming
"If the Maldives cannot be saved today we do not feel that there is much of a chance for the rest of

signing a document calling for global reduction in carbon emissions. He is right, if we do not start
improving the climate right now, our world will soon be under water like the lowest nation, the
Maldives which is predicted to be submerged by 2085. This paper will focus on four questions: Why
climate change, or global warming, is real? Why do human beings take major responsibility for it?
Why is it a top–priority of every nation? And why can we believe that together you and I are able to
tackle it?
Despite numerous irrefutable evidence, many people including scientists, experts, and politicians
still deny the existence and urgency of climate change as well as human responsibility for the
problem. In their opinions, climate change is no more than a hoax of scientists and climatologists. In
a 2014 survey, a senior writer at The Huffington Post, Carolyn Gregoire concluded 23 percent of
Americans said they did not believe in global warming, and 53 percent said it was not human–

Misconstrued Time in Ferdi Riskiyanto´s Advertisment
Time has overtaken the minds of society today in a multitude of ways. Daily tasks such as visiting
family members, attending meetings, and paying bills all incorporate the substantial importance in
tracking every second of a person's life. In addition to scheduling, time is often denoted as a system
of counting down until an indefinite end occurs. In an advertisement by Ferdi Rizkiyanto, a digital
artist, an hourglass is used to represent time before the fate of humans concludes due to global
warming. Within the hourglass, sand has been replaced by the water of melting icebergs, and the
droplets trickle into the lower level containing the homes of modern day society. The global
warming hourglass ad attempts to emphasize the importance of immediately solving earth's
impending environmental problems by appealing to the emotions of fear and pity, but the awaiting
disaster used in the visual is ineffective because it will not occur during the audience's lifetime. In
this advertisement by Ferdi, the world is placed within the lower chamber of an hourglass. All of
society continues to follow their daily routines, and nothing seems out of the ordinary. However, far
above their heads, the polar ices caps are slowly melting. Many artic animals lose their homes and
become stranded due to this issue. As the ice melts, it slowly filters into the earth–bearing chamber,
eventually causing the entire population to be flooded in a problem that could have been slowed, if

Causes And Effects Of Global Warming
Causes and Effects of Global Warming
Global warming is the heating of the earth at an unnatural pace due to humans. The world regularly
undergoes eras of warming and cooling, the current event is due to humans and is happening more
rapidly than ever before. Bill Freedman (2014) stated that, "...increases in global temperatures are
due to human activity (i.e., not due to solar variations, volcanic activity, cyclic warming or cooling
trends, etc.) ..." This means that the warming of the earth is only global warming when it is caused
by humans. Currently, according to past trends on Earth, the planet is supposed to be undergoing a
cooling, but because of global warming the earth is on a heating trend. Global warming is caused by
the Industrial Revolution, increased greenhouse gases, and deforestation and impacts the world by
raising temperatures, melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels, and the extinction of species and the
harm of humans.
Causes of Global Warming
Global warming is a growing problem and if it is left alone, it will ruin the Earth. The main cause of
global warming is the industrialization of the world; this began with the Industrial Revolution in the
seventeenth century. The Industrial Revolution was the beginning of an era with machines, which
lead to mass production, and more jobs. It allowed countries to produce higher quality products in
less time. This was the switch from rural, agricultural towns to larger, urbanized cities. The

Global Warming And Its Effects
Ever since the 1980's Global Warming has been an intriguing topic among citizens, scientists and
government officials. It's ironic to think that only years earlier in the 1970's the phenomenon was
global cooling, now on a dime it suddenly shifted from intense glaciation to excessive carbon
dioxide emissions that raise the temperature of the planet. A large number of influential scientists
and engineers do not agree that drastic actions on global warming are necessary. This is simply just
another bizarre fad that will soon fade due to wishy washy scientific theorems and emphasized
social agendas. With the use of basic science and logic the idea of Global Warming can be
dismantled and proven to be illegitimate and a hoax. Now a days global warming is the spook, with
its melting glaciers, inundated cities, and the gulf stream reversing course. But one should wonder if
even the enviro can keep on fomenting the scare much longer. It has been based on little more than
extrapolated temperatures and deceptive charts. But when the government finds and opportunity to
frighten the nation with illegitimacy, it gives them reason to greedily suck on the tax payers teat
until they sore and chapped nipples. Republican Lenar Whitney, a Louisiana state representative
states, "Energy security is real, global warming is not. It is merely a strategy designed to give more
power to the executive branch while increasing taxes in a progressive stream to regulate every

Climate Change And Global Warming
The terms climate change and global warming have caused much confusion. Climate change is the
change in global or regional climate patterns. Global warming is the idea that the world is being
heated by a few degrees every year brought on by an increase in carbon dioxide levels from the
growing use of fossil fuels. Together these two issues have begun to change the habitats as humanity
knows them and could devastate the world if allowed to continue. Many studies support the idea of
the changing climate, and people now realize the significance of the issue. The US Government and
the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as many governmental agencies around the world,
have released many bulletins on changes that are currently taking place. Each has projected that it
will only continue to escalate to the point that humankind will have a minuscule chance of survival.
Many people resist the idea that people are causing the shut–down of the climates. Climate change
is now a much–debated topic in political circuits. Scientific studies have again and again concluded
the climate change is a measurable reality. Opponents continue to profess the cold snaps, ironically
predicted by the generally accepted models, are proof that climate change does not exist. Many still
resist idea that the venting of chemicals common in spray can propellants and refrigeration is
breaking down the ozone layer that protects us from radiation in the atmosphere. Some scientists
refuse to accept that

Persuasive Essay On Changing Society

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Changing Society Since the beginning of time human kind has change and developed in many ways. we've discovered fire, we learned how to hunt and survive in the big world. We traveled with our bare feet, to ships, carriages, bikes, cars, and even planes. We've even change on how we communicate with each other. Letters and telegrams were a thing in the past. now theirs cell phone and video chats. There's no need for waiting or limitations when we can call or text someone from Miami to Paris France. We are the people who walked on the moon and competed in the space race with the Soviet Union. We've fought wars from guns to nuclear weapons. some people think we've gone to far with our rapidly changing society. Some say we've been careless and only feed our needs and not considering about others. Society is slowly changing from a warm heart to a cold one. Global warming is a great and big example of us trying to make it seem not real. its real and its growing. Can society stop global warming? can we prevent the inevitable from knocking in our doors, wafting the air or even our very own shores. Yes we can and we have to. Stop putting it off and say you'll do it later. What if there isn't a later. what if it's to late. We as an society can change our ways and stop our own possible extinction. Yes we are literally working on our own demise and not even knowing it. Based on the Job One For Humanity article, it states " Based upon a preponderance of scientific evidence we recognize our global ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Climate Change Climate change is a serious problem that will affect all of the inhabitants and systems of Earth. Gaia was previously responsible for maintaining sustainability of the Earth's systems, however, Gaia is losing its ability to maintain homeostasis because of these severe environmental changes that are taking place. There must be a push to educate people on what the anthropogenic causes of climate change are and how we can prevent them from negatively impacting our environment. People also need to understand the severe consequences of climate change, which include desertification, rising sea levels, more frequent severe weather, and the potential loss of our food supplies. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization also needs to push for regulations on fossil fuel emissions and help create incentives to prevent major corporations from polluting. Last, everyone needs to make an effort to cut back on their individual emissions by using more sustainable energy sources, cutting back on automobile use, and consuming fewer animal products. In today's society, climate change should be seen as an undeniable fact, however, unfortunately many people do not want to take action to combat climate change and are perpetuating the situation, not only for themselves, but all of Earth's inhabitants. Due to anthropogenic action, our atmosphere is getting warmer, our soil is degrading, and there is a lack of overall stability of the environment of our planet due to Gaia slowly losing ... • 3. The Scientific Study Of Climate Archives Introduction Paleoclimatology is the scientific study of Earth's past climate using indirect data ("Paleoclimatology", 2015). Since the Industrial Revolution studying climate archives is important because anthropogenic effects have become a prominent factor in climatic variation and they allow scientist to get an idea of past climatic variation in order to predict future climatic trends (Redinger, 2006). The indirect indicators that are used in climate archives are known as climate proxies (Ruddiman, 2013). There are 4 main climatic archives which are ice, trees, corals and sediments however this paper will take an in depth look at ice and corals. The period of interest is the Holocene, which is 10000 years ago when both of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Glacial ice is created through the annual deposition of snow that piles up in continuous sequences due to vast plateaus (Bethan, 2014). There are 2 main ice sheets present on Earth today. The first one is located in Greenland and dates up to 125,000 years ago while the other is the Antarctic ice sheet that dates up to 800,000 years ago (Ruddiman, 2013). Ice thickness can provide clues about the local precipitation and thicker layers corresponds to greater snowfall which tells us about global temperatures due to the fact that more snow tends to accumulate at the poles during global warm spells. However, majority of the data about past climate is gained from ice cores, are produced when the ice sheets are drilled on the major axis of growth at about 4–5 inches in diameter and up to lengths of 1m in order to get a vertical core that can be stored for analysis. Ice cores are not limited to polar regions, they can be found on 6 of the 7 continents of Earth and can range in thickness from mountain glaciers to continental ice sheet (Ruddiman, 2013) (Figure 2). However the 2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Argumentative Essay On Global Warming Alvarado, Estefani Eng 1A December 9, 2017 Maria G. Teutsch Global Warming Global warming is one big issue going on in this world for the past 250 years, it has gotten worse due to us humans. Yet us humans, are not paying much attention to the issue, letting the issue slip out of our hands. Global warming is to the point that it is solveable, but with us not taking precautions and not caring one bit, later the problem will be to big to handle. There is many hazardous of global warming. One hazardous would be climate change, with temperatures increasing world wide. Due to temperatures increasing, the results can and will be droughts and floods, shortage of food, increase of crops products, costs and diseases. Ever since the Industrial Revolution the temperature has been a roller coster, up and down it goes. Research has showed that the greenhouse affect is rapidly melting the polar ice caps, leading to increasing of the sea levels. Due to the fast melting of the ice, in five years or less the Artic can be ice free, no ice, none! Another result of having the ice melt rapidly, would be the increase of the ocean, this affect us really bad, but it can also ruin a trip to the beach. Due to the sea level rising, that means droughts, floods, and storms can happen. With those diasters occuring the results of floods, droughts and storms lead to damages of either land, your own home, crops, and anything in there way. Also needing to repair, bridges, roads, airport runways, power lines, dams, seawalls and rail road tracks. Leading to cost of repairing the damages, increase of crops, etc. Many peoople loose there homes to floods, storms, and when the floods and storms are over they have to pay all the damages. the crops due to climate change, and temperatur rising, the crops are not getting enough water, ending up in crops dying due to not enough hydration. Many field owners end up loosing thousands of dollars worth of crops, making them raise up the cost of the product. Because they need to get back the money that got lost due to the crops drying up. "Severe rainfall events and snowstorms can delay planting and harvesting, cause power outages, snarl traffic, delay air travel, and otherwise make it difficult ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Effects Of Global Warming On The World Global warming is the term used to describe the rise in the Earth's temperature observed over the last century. It has had significant effects on the polar ice caps, as the rising temperature is causing them to melt. It has also been linked to rising sea levels as the rise has been quicker than ever recorded in the last century. It is believed to be caused by increasing amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, due to burning fossil fuels, other human activities and volcanic activity. It also doesn't help that most of the world's forests are being cut down to be used for wood and other materials, this means those plants can no longer photosynthesise and get rid of some of the CO2 (which is a greenhouse gas) from the atmosphere. The rising temperatures therefore have significant effects on the Earth and its organisms. The most imminent and noticeable threat is that on the organisms which live in polar habitats, such as polar bears and penguins, because of the melting ice caps it means that their habitats are being destroyed. There has been a noticeable decline in the numbers of Adélie penguins on Antarctica, their numbers have gone down from 32,000 breeding pairs to 11,000 breeding pairs in the last 30 years. Over the last 40 years there has been a fall in the population of polar bears, their status has changed from least concern to vulnerable to endangered. Polar bears use drifting ice to catch prey and if there is no ice left then their eating habits will decrease ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Causes And Effects Of Climate Change Climate Change Climate change is an ever growing danger to us and the planet and the effects of it will be catastrophic. Climate change will make the global temperatures rise which will melt the polar ice caps putting many species at risk for extinction, it will also cause much stronger hurricanes and tornados and other weather related problems, and the scary part is; there currently is no real marketable solution to climate change that would not lower our living standards to what we had before the industrial revolution. Scientists are convinced that if climate change is not stopped or at least weakened by the year 2050, there will be no more polar ice in the north and south poles and there may be no snow in the winter; which I find very concerning because this of course has drastic effects. I am afraid that arctic animals like the polar bear, reindeer, arctic fox, seal, narwhal and many more will become extinct and our great grandchildren won't be able to experience them like we were able to. Scientists also say that the sea levels will most likely rise 4ft by the year 2100 and I know that does not sound too bad, but trust me it is because may coastal cities and small villages located near the current sea level will because uninhabitable for us and other land animals. This would negatively affect 100's of thousands of people and a lot of precious and rare ecosystems will be unfortunately destroyed. I feel like another bad thing about climate change is the fact that the weather will change in negative ways like making hurricanes and tornados much stronger and harder to combat which puts millions upon millions of people's lives at risk.and will cost countries billions of dollars to repair the damages caused by these stronger storms and if that is not enough, floods will also become a lot more common do the rising sea levels and the increase in storms which can be deadly. I believe one of the worst effects on the weather due to climate change is that fact that it will create more droughts due to the high increases to the global temperatures and these droughts will have severe effects on the people living in that area because typically when a drought is taking place, growing food is next to impossible which ... • 7. Climate Change and Evolution Essay Climate Change and Evolution The ecological consequences of global climate change are expected to be drastic although not much is known as to how individual species will react to these changes. Irrespective of the causes of climate change, whether anthropogenic or natural, it is imperative that we address these concerns, as they will have widespread impacts on the human species, both directly and indirectly through forcings on other species. The climate is not expected to shift evenly and the ways in which certain species adapt or migrate due to these changes could be erratic and unpredictable. The rate at which the earth's climate is currently changing is unprecedented and has not been seen in the past 450,000 years. Although many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The species' main food source, ringed seals, which live on the ice of Hudson Bay are becoming increasingly inaccessible due to earlier ice melts. "We're wrong if we think that climate change is something that will happen far off in the future. Polar bears are starving now and we need to act now to stop climate change," said Kevin Jardine, Greenpeace climate impacts specialist. A recent study by Canadian polar bear researchers showed that the species have less time to hunt during the season and are forced to return to land undernourished. The study reports a decline in weight of both male and female bears as well as a noticeable decline in offspring. As the Hudson Bay bears fast for six to eight months out of the year, sustaining themselves on nourishment from the hunting season, they are increasingly unable to survive the rest of the year due to limited food resources. Polar bears are not the only species currently under stress form a warming climate however. Masses of orange–and–black Monarch butterflies that travel on a 3,000–mile annual migration from the United States and Canada covered an area of 42 acres two years ago. Now, however, the butterflies that winter in the area cover a mere 13.5 acres. Monarch butterflies are very sensitive to climate change; the smallest temperature change can have drastic impacts on their populations. Monarchs have developed various adaptations in order to avoid being caught and eaten by predators. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Essay Global Warming Is Eroding Glacial Ice by Adrew... Taking a Stand In the essay, "Global Warming is Eroding Glacial Ice," Andrew C. Revkin argues that global warming is the primary cause for many of the world's natural disasters; including flash floods, climate change, and the melting of the polar ice caps. He includes multiple accounts of expert testimony as well as a multitude amount of facts and statistics to support his theory that global warming is a threat to the world. However, in the essay "Cold Comfort for 'Global Warming'," Phillip Stott makes the complete opposite argument. He argues that global warming is nothing to be worried about and the melting of the polar icecaps is caused by the interglacial period we are currently in. After reading both of these essays and doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The National Geographic validates this fact on their website by stating that when the article was written in 2009 eighty five percent was now gone. They also validate many of the other statements that Revkin makes throughout his essay. Finding out that the facts that Revkin included in his essay are all true and that his expert testimony was taken from highly respected individuals in the industry makes trusting Revkin and taking his side very easy. Another reason that I chose to agree with Revkin's point of view is that after researching many of the points that Stott brings up in his essay I found that many of them were not true. In "Cold Comfort for 'Global Warming'," Phillip Stott try's to make the argument that global warming is nothing to be afraid of because it is not a threat. Unlike Revkin, Stott does not use and expert testimony and very little facts to prove his purpose. In the beginning of the essay, Stott includes information on the collapse of the Larson B ice shelf in Antarctica. He then goes on to state that we have nothing to be worried about because when an ice shelf melts it does not raise sea levels (Stott 306). According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, an ice shelf is a permanent floating sheet of ice that connects directly to a landmass. When Stott stated that the melting of ice shelves does not cause a rise in sea levels he was not considering the indirect consequence of it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Can Polar Ice Cap Be Prevented The melting of polar ice caps can be prevented. This is a serious issue. Polar ice caps melting will cause the earth to warm rapidly, because the UV light will not have anything to reflect off of and bounce back to space. Along with global warming, and the melting polar ice caps, the earth will be warmed sufficiently by 2036 if the burning of fossil fuels is not stopped, or even slowed by a small percentage. Polar ice caps are solid land masses with ice covering the whole land mass. The land mass does not have to be a certain size to qualify as a polar ice cap. Research says that a polar ice cap can be qualified as a polar ice cap if it is a solid land mass coved in ice. Ice caps here on earth are made from water, but on other planets such as Mars the ice caps consist of other things than just water. On Mars the ice caps are formed from water, ice, and carbon dioxide. They form from the elevation the ice caps have, and from the lack of radiation from the sun. The melting of polar ice caps can be prevented by reducing the amounts of greenhouse gasses that are pumped into the environment daily, and that means that we need to slow the burning and consumption of our fossil fuels. The United States cannot stop this alone, so countries need to work together and help prevent the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some ways that the average person could help is by traveling on public transportation, or carpooling with a friend or family member to reduce the gas emissions that vehicles produce. The earth is already gone past a point that the human population needs to take action, but not so much that there is no going back. • 10. The Causes Of Climate Change The world is constantly changing and adapting. In particular, since the mid twentieth century, mankind has been pouring alarming levels of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. As if that isn't bad enough, humans have been treating the earth as if it is one giant trash bin. This destruction is being cause by a few different reasons, including: factory farming, dumping toxic chemicals into water, littering, and many other factors. All of this is adding up to cause climate change. Unlike a change in weather, climate change is a terrible thing for the ecosystem and environment of the planet. It brings up the question, how is this problem to be corrected? The answer could possibly be found in the Disney tale, "The Lion King". All across the world, climate change is beginning to happen. Climate change is a natural thing that happens all the time but, humans are accelerating this change at an increasing pace in a bad direction. Editor and publisher Sandra May of NASA says "Most scientists say that humans can change climate too. People drive cars. People heat and cool their houses. People cook food. All those things take energy. One way we get energy is by burning coal, oil and gas. Burning these things puts gases into the air. The gases cause the air to heat up. This can change the climate of a place. It also can change Earth's climate." These changes can also be referred to as global warming. This heating of our climate across the globe is causing bad thing to happen already, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Warm Blue Dot: Evidence for Anthropological Global Warming Introduction Throughout the long history of the Earth, the global climate has fluctuated drastically, ranging from tropical to glacial. In the mid–18th century, the Industrial Revolution began, and humanity began a bilateral campaign: one waged with the goal of achieving a prosperous, industrialized future, and another, inadvertently waged against the environment. The purpose of this literature review is to examine the influence of anthropological global warming on the overall climate and to investigate the impact of humanity compared to natural circumstances. Carter adds that carbon dioxide accounts for less than 4 percent of atmospheric greenhouse warming; furthermore, human–induced emissions are responsible for a measly 3 percent of the previously mentioned 4 percent (Carter 183). By this math, the grand total of human–caused carbon dioxide in the atmosphere comes to an infinitesimal 0.0012 percent. To combat the IPCC on its charges that Antarctic Ice was melting at alarming rates, Newman notes a study undertaken by NASA, in which they found that Antarctica actually gained some 112 billion tons of ice each year from 1992 to 2001 and some 82 billion tons between 2003 and 2008 (Newman 30). Clearly, there certainly is some amount of discourse and evidence that the impact of humans on global climate is being exaggerated to some degree. Evidence for the Relationship Between Carbon Dioxide and Temperature Variation Current research has shown that the presence of carbon dioxide, a driving force behind temperature increases and other climatic changes, is increasing in the atmosphere at an accelerating rate (Baum et al 396). Justin Masih, assistant professor of chemistry at Ewing Christian College, admits that thermometer readings sufficient in providing reliable global temperatures are only available back to the year 1850 (Masih 100). • 12. The Problem Of Global Climate Change Other than political stories in 2016 we still see and hear of many Global Warming scenarios, what causes them, who is the main reason for the cause, and when it actually started. We are going to take a look at the reality of what is really happening. Let's assume that all ice caps and glaciers in the world melted. What would be the result of such a catastrophe, how long would it take, who would be affects, and would we suffer any loss because of this? Global climate change has been more and more discussed with the ever changing climate, and the rise of water levels, we need to figure out why the water levels have been changing so rapidly. Is there any change we humans can do to prevent disaster? Or are we on a collision course with no way to turn around? This is a list of the known ice inventories within our world that I have found from Dr. Robert Johnston regarding if the ice melts. As you can see Dr. Robert Johnston has done his studies and research about this topic. World ice inventory A melting of the entire list would cause a rise of about 200–250 feet of the world wide sea level. This seems dangerous, but it would take several hundred years to occur, if at all for that to even happen and even if it did we would no longer be alive. As Dr. Robert Johnston said "Today the Earth has 148 million sq. km of land area, of which 16 million sq. km is covered by glaciers. A sea level rise of 66 meters would flood about 13 million sq. km of land outside of Antarctica." If we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This may not seem like such a big change however, with a rise in temperature, many negative consequences will being to show. Some of these consequences include but are not limited to destroying the O–zone, increase in disease, powerful weather disasters, rising sea levels, and overall decrease in health for all things living on Earth. However, with Earth's surface creating more heat, it causes the atmosphere to become cold. Similar to a human wound, the O–zone will not be able to repair itself quickly when cold (Baker, M.). With the hole not being able to repair quickly, harmful rays from the sun are able to reach Earth's surface and create more harmful heat. This is very similar to a double–sided sword. Global warming will heat the surface causing the O–zone hole to be continuous, and in turn, the rays coming in from the O–zone will continue to heat Earth's surface ("Climate Change: Basic Information."). If Earth's surface is warmed enough, it will also start to warm the bodies of water. The heating waters are currently the reasons for the melting of ice shelves. Luckily, the ice shelf melting is not as serious due to the water flowing and refreezing ("Global Climate Change: Research Explorer"). However if the ice shelves are melting too fast then that could cause complete changes in glaciers and the land mass in general. With the loss of land mass from mainly Antarctica, it means a rise in sea levels. Some think that a rise in sea levels would not be bad however; the most important major cities in the United States are located in areas directly beside the sea. There are also cities that are under water, however, due to a more elevated land masses protecting it, these cities are do not feel an impact currently. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But the main problem caused by our interference in nature is climate change. Even though Planet earth is always changing, from Pangaea to the Great Yellowstone Thaw. Climate change just might be the way earth is ever changing, but Humans are believed to be the main cause of climate change mainly because Science proves that it is caused by carbon emissions from the cars we drive. Scientist started to detect the starting of climate change during the first Industrial Revolution. "The evidence is overwhelming." states the Union of Concerned Scientists, "Different records show that the Earth is warming fast, and that all the heat–trapping emissions we release into the atmosphere from burning fossil fuels is changing our climate." According to NASA, the global temperature has risen 1.7 degrees since 1880, the start of the first Industrial Revolution, the carbon dioxide levels having risen 407.06parts per million causing the polar ice caps to melt rising sea levels 3.4 millimeters per year. If we have stricter rules on how we use things, then we might be able to slow the effect of climate change. The seasons that used to be defined by their drastically different weather have started to blend into a year–long battle for hot and cold, along with unusual rainfall during typically dry spells. Climate change is the change in global or regional climate patterns. Global warming is the idea that the world is being heated by a few degrees every year brought on by an increase in carbon dioxide levels from the growing use of fossil fuels. Together these two things will begin to change the habitats as we know them and could devastate the world as we know it. There have been many studies on the changing climate, and people have begun to realize how significant of an issue this is in present time. The government and the EPA have released many bulletins on changes that are currently taking place, and have projected that it will only continue to escalate to the point that humankind will have a minuscule chance of survival. There are those who do not agree that people are causing the shut–down of the climates, or adding to the breakdown of the ozone layer that protects us from radiation in the atmosphere. Some scientists refuse to accept that taking any preventative measures will have any impact on the climate changes, in lieu of the astounding evidence that points to us being the major contributors of the carbon dioxide buildup in the air. We had decided to escape the house and go to the Sweet Shop to celebrate. The door chimed as we walked in, both of us complaining about the heat. Which, in turn, earned us a look from the cashier. One frozen yogurt, two bags of candy, and a giant lollipop later we were sick of sugar and gossip and decided to head back home. Once outside, I fought for a while with the vicious snake that was my bike lock. Then, with the flip of two kickstands, we were off. We were biking one in front of the other, cruising over the tree–shaped shadows and avoiding the blindingly bright places where the afternoon sun glinted through the clouds. We were riding, giggling at some nonsensical words, as we got ready to cross the street. I was vaguely aware of a giant yellow blob whizzing toward me as my bike turned left onto the white–striped crosswalk. And then everything stopped. I saw the sheen of a taxi cab's yellow shell. I saw the front tire of my bike twist as I skidded into an orange headlight. Everything went silent. Although it briefly entered my conscious I was biking straight into a car, all I could think was: what a nice day. I felt like I was flying. If no serious attempt to reduce our contribution to global warming, we will lose things that makes this planet so unique. Whether people think global warming is a serious threat or not, there is no denying the major physical effects to our planet throughout the past two centuries. Global warming not only shows how poorly our everyday live treat our planet, but brings along changes to both our climate, geography, and economical issues. The term "Global warming" is self explanatory. It is the gradual increase in average global temperature. While this change is miniscule, the effects are devastating. To state the obvious, our planet is getting hotter everyday. With that being said, the result of having a warmer climate raises the risk of more natural disasters, specifically hurricanes. With higher planet temperatures, the more water in our oceans will evaporate into our atmosphere. For those who do not know, all hurricanes develop in warm, tropical waters, where precipitation in the air is plentiful, (Irish). With greater amounts of precipitation in the atmosphere, the greater the chances are for tropical storms and hurricanes to develop. But it is not solely an increase in number of hurricanes, but a higher number of high intensity hurricanes such as category three's, four's, and fives. • 18. Climate Change Is Caused By Carbon Emissions Climate change is resulted due to unrestrained pollution. Carbon emissions that enter the earth's atmosphere have a very dangerous effect on our environment, economy and wellbeing. This major problem earth is facing can be fixed if we all work as one. Climate change is caused by carbon emissions being trapped in earth's atmosphere. The pollution that is trapped in our atmosphere then heats up changing earth's climate patterns. The act of burning fossil fuels for energy has the biggest contribution to climate change. Scientists are confident that global temperatures will continue to rise for many years to come, all because of human activities. The intergovernmental panel on climate change also known as the IPCC came to a conclusion that it is 90% probable that the globe is warming due to human activities over the past 250 years. The IPCC, has a large depth of knowledge with having over one thousand three hundred scientists. The IPPC scientists predict a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century. Whilst the climate changes and the globe warms there are several major effects that is having a large impact on our environment, for example the polar ice caps. Each summer due to climate change the polar ice cap is melting due to warm water. Sea ice reflects heat from the sun, while water adsorbs it. Less ice means more heat which means less ice. Temperatures are rising drastically with our last decade being the hottest on record. With the polar ice caps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unless there is something done to change the current technology being used to provide energy to the human population global climate change will only continue to get worse. Climate change is the biggest global health threat of the 21st century and we must act and change the use of energy technology and oil for our sustainable future. In order to understand the health impacts of global climate change we must first look into what is global climate change and global warming. In short global climate change are any natural changes on our planet that are being caused by human activities. These human activates mainly consist of the burning fossil fuels, coal and oil. When these fossil fuels are burned pollution is created. This pollution fills and form what is called greenhouse gasses and in turn creates the greenhouse effect. These gasses re–radiate thermal radiation in all directions and trap in heat on our planet. Without these gasses this thermal radiation would normally dissipate back outside of the atmosphere. This is much like the effect of a greenhouse in which this effect gets its name from. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Perhaps the most revealing is the fact that average temperatures have been gradually rising, and the ten hottest years on record since the 1860s have occurred since 1973. In his book, See, I Told You So, Rush Limbaugh misquoted a Gallup poll, claiming that 53% of scientists do not believe that global warming is taking place, 30 percent say they don't know, and only 17 percent are "devotees of this dubious theory." ... (3) The strong statements of scientists on this issue derive from the catastrophic potential of even a small amount of global warming. The reason why the planet Venus bakes under 900–degree heat is not because it is so close to the sun, but it is trapped under greenhouse gases. Global warming is a serious threat here on earth because it would cause more severe weather, increase the range of deserts, melt the polar ice caps, cause a rise in sea level (which, according to the fossil record, is a major cause of mass extinctions), as well as expand the habitat of deadly tropical diseases. The only scientific opposition to the global warming theory comes from the expected places: scientific commissions funded largely by the fossil fuel industry, which is responsible for creating the greenhouse gases in the first place. This is highly reminiscent of the all the "scientific" studies produced by the tobacco companies proving that cigarettes do not cause cancer. While many believe it is a problem that needs to be tended to immediately, others believe or claim for political reasons that it is just propaganda. Global warming is described by Bodnar as "The increase in temperature around the world caused by gases in the atmosphere." (Bodnar 7) Many scientists believe that carbon dioxide gases are the main cause of Global Warming. Things such as old factories and cars emit greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere when they are put to use. This generally comes from old cars and old factories made before the nineteen nineties, because in recent years technology has been manufacturing more eco–friendly cars and factories that produce less waste. Since the discovery of global warming there have been many technological advances made in an attempt to try put a stop to global warming such as the use of wind power, solar power, and hybrids. Many would agree that the world is indeed getting hotter by the day. It has been doing so since 1950 according to Borick. Each year since two thousand the world sets a new high for record heat. It is believed that as more and more people are being born it will only get hotter. As more people begin driving more carbon dioxide will be released into the atmosphere as a result. In many climate change and apocalypse movies the rising of the ocean is the downfall of the population of the planet. The topic about the rising sea levels was not always indisputable. When the topic of climate change was first brought up it was mostly known as global warming and connected to the greenhouse effect. The notion of oceans raising above sea level was once widely seen as controversial. New York Times articles from 1980s until now show the development of the debate on rising sea levels through time and the the further development of science. There has been a change in The New York Times reporting on the issues of rising sea levels caused by the climate change from doubt about it in the 1980's to confirmation of the problem in 2010's. The rising ocean seas presents the problem of flooding and worse hurricanes. Lives and homes are at stake because of this worsening problem that took many years to agree on. Not only does the rising of the ocean hurt the human race but also the ecosystem, especially marine life. It would cause displacement of many on land animal and change habitat locations for sea life. • 27. The Cause And Effects Of Global Warming Have you ever heard about global warming? Global warming is a gradual increase in the temperature of the Earth's surface both water and land . Years ago, when the Earth experienced an increase in temperature it was a result of natural causes but today it is being caused by the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere produced by human activities. The greenhouse effect occurs because of the presence of specific gases in the atmosphere at a high rate. These gases play a major role in maintaining the earth's thermal energy. Due to absorbing a portion of the infrared radiation emitted from its surface and retaining it in the atmosphere; Subsequently, heating the surface of the Earth and maintaining its temperature constant or up to the level that makes life possible. The rise in the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere led to the retention of a larger amount of thermal energy in the Earth, affecting all its operation and system. Global warming affects the planet seriously in several ways including climate change, melting polar ice caps and widespread extinctions of species. One of the most immediate and obvious effects of global warming is climate change. It is a major and permanent change in Earth's climate pattern of temperature, snow, humidity, rainfall level and wind speed of a region. Mary Shelley incorporates these ideas with Victor Frankenstein's thirst for dangerous knowledge, and through allusions of Prometheus and the Genesis story. Shelley not only incorporates other supplementary readings into Frankenstein, but uses feminist literary theory as a way to put to life the idea of women's inferiority to men. Women in the 18th century were often referred to as " weak, illogical, timid, or even emotionless" ( Radek–Hill, " Women in Literature"). The once prominent ice is now melting at a dramatic speed, which is affecting native people, wildlife, and plants. When the Ward Hunt Ice Shelf splintered, the freshwater lake that it surrounded drained into the ocean, along with the ecosystem that inhabited it. Polar bears, whales, walrus and seals are changing their feeding and migration patterns, making it harder for native people to hunt them (nrdc.org). Because of the flooding, entire villages will be uprooted order to avoid being swamped. Also, the Arctic coastlines are beginning to move as well. The melting ice caps are threatening the native peoples' cultural identity and their very survival. Ice–dependant animals, such as walruses and ring seals will be greatly affected by the melting ice caps (treehugger.com). They have fewer places to rest on, as well as fewer places to hunt. If the ice caps keep melting, their lives will become in great danger. The melting ice caps are not only affecting the Polar Regions, but they are also affecting the rest of the world as well in the form of rising ocean levels. Melting ice caps are contributing to rising ocean levels as well. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Pros And Cons Of Climate Engineering Climate Engineering What if humans could find a way to combat climate change? This is where climate engineering would come into play. Climate engineering, also known as weather modification or geoengineering, is "the intentional alteration of Earth's climate aiming to counter climate change" (Wikipedia par. 1). Some of the proposals for climate engineering include shooting dust into the stratosphere, putting iron dust in the oceans, and even placing mirrors in space to reflect sunlight. One example of weather modification was implemented during the Second World War, where airports in the United Kingdom would use flamethrowers installed on runways to get rid of acid fog. This solution was successful, however each airport used approximately 0.5 million liters of fuel per hour. In the end, the disadvantages of climate engineering outweigh the benefits by not solving all of the Earth's climate problems, cooling only certain areas of the planet, and drastically changing the weather patterns on Earth. One of the reasons the cons of climate engineering outweigh the pros is that it does not solve all the planet's problems. An example of this is ocean acidification, which is the decrease in the pH levels in our oceans "due to carbon dioxide being absorbed into the sea water" (NOAA par. 1). This can have harmful effects on marine life because an increased acidity of ocean water can impact an organism's structure and immune system as well as cause coral bleaching, like what is ... • 34. Persuasive Speech On Climate Change Persuasive Speech Outline Don't Ignore Climate Change Purpose : To persuade my audience to change their perception on climate change. Thesis : Climate change is a controversial topic that some believe to be fake. Studies show that climate change is a real danger going on around us. These studies uncover what the future holds for humanity. As humans it is our moral duty to do what is right by earth, that has been our home for millions of years. 1. Attention A. Read quote by the 8th Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki–moon, "We are the first generation to be able to end poverty, and the last generation that can take steps to avoid the cost impacts of climate change. Future generations will judge us harshly If we fail to uphold our moral and historical responsibilities. B. Climate change, many of you have probably heard about it its also referred as global warming. Climate change definition :is the change of a regions usual weather. Climate change is something we should take seriously and this is why. 2. Needs There are many problems that come with climate change that are currently affecting us and the plant right now. A. The first problem is that the earth is warming or global warming. The earths temperature is recorded all around the world. Scientists have been recording the increasing temperatures for the past century. These records show that the earths temperature have risen more than 1.71 degree Fahrenheit between 1880 and 2016. • 35. The Threat, Responsibility, And Solutions Climate Change... The Threat, Responsibility, and Solutions to Climate Change and Global Warming "If the Maldives cannot be saved today we do not feel that there is much of a chance for the rest of the world." – said Former President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, while sitting underwater signing a document calling for global reduction in carbon emissions. He is right, if we do not start improving the climate right now, our world will soon be under water like the lowest nation, the Maldives which is predicted to be submerged by 2085. This paper will focus on four questions: Why climate change, or global warming, is real? Why do human beings take major responsibility for it? Why is it a top–priority of every nation? And why can we believe that together you and I are able to tackle it? Despite numerous irrefutable evidence, many people including scientists, experts, and politicians still deny the existence and urgency of climate change as well as human responsibility for the problem. In their opinions, climate change is no more than a hoax of scientists and climatologists. In a 2014 survey, a senior writer at The Huffington Post, Carolyn Gregoire concluded 23 percent of Americans said they did not believe in global warming, and 53 percent said it was not human– caused. President– elect Donald Trump who is among the global–warming denials, wrote on his Twitter "the concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non–competitive." He also said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Misconstrued Time in Ferdi Riskiyanto´s Advertisment Time has overtaken the minds of society today in a multitude of ways. Daily tasks such as visiting family members, attending meetings, and paying bills all incorporate the substantial importance in tracking every second of a person's life. In addition to scheduling, time is often denoted as a system of counting down until an indefinite end occurs. In an advertisement by Ferdi Rizkiyanto, a digital artist, an hourglass is used to represent time before the fate of humans concludes due to global warming. Within the hourglass, sand has been replaced by the water of melting icebergs, and the droplets trickle into the lower level containing the homes of modern day society. The global warming hourglass ad attempts to emphasize the importance of immediately solving earth's impending environmental problems by appealing to the emotions of fear and pity, but the awaiting disaster used in the visual is ineffective because it will not occur during the audience's lifetime. In this advertisement by Ferdi, the world is placed within the lower chamber of an hourglass. All of society continues to follow their daily routines, and nothing seems out of the ordinary. However, far above their heads, the polar ices caps are slowly melting. Many artic animals lose their homes and become stranded due to this issue. As the ice melts, it slowly filters into the earth–bearing chamber, eventually causing the entire population to be flooded in a problem that could have been slowed, if not stopped ... • 37. Causes And Effects Of Global Warming Causes and Effects of Global Warming Global warming is the heating of the earth at an unnatural pace due to humans. The world regularly undergoes eras of warming and cooling, the current event is due to humans and is happening more rapidly than ever before. Bill Freedman (2014) stated that, "...increases in global temperatures are due to human activity (i.e., not due to solar variations, volcanic activity, cyclic warming or cooling trends, etc.) ..." This means that the warming of the earth is only global warming when it is caused by humans. Currently, according to past trends on Earth, the planet is supposed to be undergoing a cooling, but because of global warming the earth is on a heating trend. Global warming is caused by the Industrial Revolution, increased greenhouse gases, and deforestation and impacts the world by raising temperatures, melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels, and the extinction of species and the harm of humans. Causes of Global Warming Global warming is a growing problem and if it is left alone, it will ruin the Earth. The main cause of global warming is the industrialization of the world; this began with the Industrial Revolution in the seventeenth century. The Industrial Revolution was the beginning of an era with machines, which lead to mass production, and more jobs. It allowed countries to produce higher quality products in less time. This was the switch from rural, agricultural towns to larger, urbanized cities. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Global Warming And Its Effects Ever since the 1980's Global Warming has been an intriguing topic among citizens, scientists and government officials. It's ironic to think that only years earlier in the 1970's the phenomenon was global cooling, now on a dime it suddenly shifted from intense glaciation to excessive carbon dioxide emissions that raise the temperature of the planet. A large number of influential scientists and engineers do not agree that drastic actions on global warming are necessary. This is simply just another bizarre fad that will soon fade due to wishy washy scientific theorems and emphasized social agendas. With the use of basic science and logic the idea of Global Warming can be dismantled and proven to be illegitimate and a hoax. Now a days global warming is the spook, with its melting glaciers, inundated cities, and the gulf stream reversing course. But one should wonder if even the enviro can keep on fomenting the scare much longer. It has been based on little more than extrapolated temperatures and deceptive charts. But when the government finds and opportunity to frighten the nation with illegitimacy, it gives them reason to greedily suck on the tax payers teat until they sore and chapped nipples. Republican Lenar Whitney, a Louisiana state representative states, "Energy security is real, global warming is not. It is merely a strategy designed to give more power to the executive branch while increasing taxes in a progressive stream to regulate every aspect of American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Climate Change And Global Warming The terms climate change and global warming have caused much confusion. Climate change is the change in global or regional climate patterns. Global warming is the idea that the world is being heated by a few degrees every year brought on by an increase in carbon dioxide levels from the growing use of fossil fuels. Together these two issues have begun to change the habitats as humanity knows them and could devastate the world if allowed to continue. Many studies support the idea of the changing climate, and people now realize the significance of the issue. The US Government and the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as many governmental agencies around the world, have released many bulletins on changes that are currently taking place. Each has projected that it will only continue to escalate to the point that humankind will have a minuscule chance of survival. Many people resist the idea that people are causing the shut–down of the climates. Climate change is now a much–debated topic in political circuits. Scientific studies have again and again concluded the climate change is a measurable reality. Opponents continue to profess the cold snaps, ironically predicted by the generally accepted models, are proof that climate change does not exist. Many still resist idea that the venting of chemicals common in spray can propellants and refrigeration is breaking down the ozone layer that protects us from radiation in the atmosphere. Some scientists refuse to accept that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
