Airman Mission
Primary goal.. Finish the mission. As the motto goes for the men and women that make up the
United States Air Force, FLY..FLIGHT..and WIN. The main question is, how does one airman fit
into the Whitman mission? Coming from an First class airman, I can tell you that everyone who
makes up the one percent has a role big or small. By raising your hand and entering the Air Force is
step one of many in completing or having a part in that mission: Global Strike. Each base has it own
mission that makes up the bigger mission in the Air force, and without our men and women we
would not be making that mission a reality. Going through a total of 4 months including Basic
military training, I know now that i am part of something better than i can imagine. Everyone can
argue that their job more important, but in all reality. We are all important from services to being the
commander. Each role we are given is more than a line number. We make up that one percent. We
are the Air Force. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can be found at the 20th attack squadron in a room about the size of the dorm rooms. That does not
matter, Without my job the enlisted and officers would not be able to fly their aircraft. Without them,
who going to kill and eliminate the bad guys? Yes, others can joke around and tell you that we just
push papers. Us ARMS work here at Whiteman but we deal with RPA from all over the world
making sure that each and every one of them are able to complete that mission where they are
located. I do sit at a desk but i work hand in hand with intel and other AFSC here at whitman, so that

Case Study Into Uneven Cockpit Gradient : The B-52 Crash
Within an organization, a poor leader or team member who is selfish and only looking for what is
good for them will make the circle small enough to cover themselves and their immediate members.
This is known as the "inner circle" of society. But a good leader is willing to stretch the circle
around every member of the organization in order to make every team member feel safe. It's only
when the team members feel safe that they can spend their time and resources on what truly makes
the organization move, as opposed to spending time on making themselves safe. Making yourself
safe, when outside the circle, can be a tiring exercise and one that a lot of us have experienced. It
could mean spending energy trying to defend a position you hold in the work team. It may mean
ensuring that your direct report does not take the credit for work you have completed. It's all tiring
and decays the trust within any team.
Case Study into Uneven Cockpit Gradient: The B–52 Fairchild Crash
The 1994 Fairchild Air Force Base B–52 crash is a commonly used case study when talking about
cockpit gradients. The accident occurred at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington, when the pilot
of a B–52 bomber, Arthur "Bud" Holland, flew the aircraft beyond its limits and lost control. The
aircraft ultimately fell and exploded on ground, killing Holland and the other three U.S. Air Force
crew members inside. The investigation found that the crash happened primarily for three reasons:

Example Of Personal Narrative Report
On September 30, 2007, my father, Rodney Woodington, Senior Master Sergeant of the United
States Air Force, presented my siblings and me with the Coin of the Military B.R.A.T. The coin is
awarded to the children who spend their lives serving along their parents. The words inscribed on its
crest: boldness, responsibility, adaptability, and tolerance, each of these traits that I have acquired on
my journey from base to base, continue to be my guiding lights. Boldness: "...to bravely go where
others dare not." I spent a majority of my childhood on Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu,
Hawaii. The children and teachers in my neighborhood and classes represented at least twenty

Due to the lack of racial diversity in my school, I became more aware of my race and relationships
between and within races. During that period of trying to "fit in," I was able to learn about myself
and what inspired me. I spent my mornings riding to school slumped down in the back seat of the
bus while listening to my first iPod. I skipped my lunch break to talk to the Student Council sponsor.
I chose Aerospace as my free period. My summer vacations were spent on the road with my family,
watching my sister play basketball against the top players in the country. Being exposed to these
different facets allowed me to explore and find my true passions. Without these challenging times
that required me to adapt, I could have missed vital opportunities to grow and learn. My application

Privitization Of Airports Essay
Privatization of Airports
For 51 years Bergstrom Air Force Base was home to fighter pilots, bombers, troop carriers and
reconnaissance jets. It was the first port of call for President Lyndon B. Johnson on his trips home to
LBJ Country aboard Air Force One, it was where Chuck Yeager, the first pilot to break the sound
barrier, once brought a disabled jet to rest in an emergency landing. In September 1993, in the path
of military cutbacks Bergstrom Air Force Base was closed. But the timing was fortuitous, because
the closure came as the city of Austin, Texas was considering where to build a new airport. In 1993,
the expected economic loss to Austin from the Bergstrom closure was estimated at $406 million a
year and a loss of some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The private sector increasingly has come to view airports as an attractive investment; airports serve
a dynamic growth industry––commercial aviation––and represent essential infrastructure with a near
monopoly. Qualified private airport operating companies have materialized and others will evolve,
while successful public airport operators are seeking to expand to provide airport management
services––generally as part of broader investor groups. As a result, substantial numbers of airports
will come to be operated by a worldwide network of airport operators. These worldwide operators
will engage in healthy competition with each other to be efficient and offer superior services, and
thus support the objectives of the investor groups in which they participate. The city of Austin
expectations by privatizing were: „h Accountability. Private contractors are paid for results. This
gives them an unwavering focus on performance that can rarely be sustained in a public agency.
Moreover, private contractors operate under the very real possibility that if their performance is
found lacking, the contract may end. This accountability is transferred directly to employees who
must deliver top–notch performance to preserve their position in a private organization. „h

There is consequently a vast and continuous effort going on to capture our minds in the interest of
some policy or commodity or idea. It might be better to have, instead of propaganda and special
pleading, committees of wise men who would choose our rulers, dictate our conduct, private and
public, and decide upon the best types of clothes for us to wear and the best kinds of food for us to

Propaganda eat. But we have chosen the opposite method, that of open competition. We must find
a way to make free competition function with reasonable smoothness. To achieve this society has
consented to permit free competition to be organized by leadership and propaganda. Some of the
phenomena of this process are criticized–the manipulation of news, the inflation of personality, and
the general ballyhoo by which politicians and commercial products and social ideas are brought to
the consciousness of the masses. The instruments by which public opinion is organized and focused
may be misused. But such organization and focusing are necessary to orderly life. As civilization has
become more complex, and as the need for invisible government has been increasingly
demonstrated, the technical means have been invented and developed by which opinion may be
regimented. With the printing press and the newspaper, the railroad, the telephone, telegraph, radio

General Pete Quesada And The Triumph Of Tactical Air Power...
General Pete Quesada and the Triumph of Tactical Air Power in World War II
I would like to begin my paper with the quote by John Kennedy "learning and Leadership are
indispensable to each other."1
I think it is a great saying about leadership I have ever heard. There are many books about
leadership. But if someone wants to be a good leader and if they do not have leadership abilities,
character from birth, they will never be able to be a good leader. When we say leader, we have to
think about people who are able to encourage their people to believe them, their thoughts, be ready
to follow them. There can be another ability of leaders. It is to do right things and make their people
to do the same. But not like some leaders, who do not do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These books about leadership can be examples for those people who have leadership skill; these
books can be a guide for those people. These books about leadership will help people with
leadership abilities to make their job easier, but will not make them good leaders.
When I read this book we can understand that commanders as good leaders cannot be far from their
men they command. Quesada has this character, he saw his men as his sons. Moreover good leaders
must be able to put themselves in a place of people in front of them. Such kind of characters can
make officers a good leaders and General Elwood had these skills and characters. These characters
made him a great leader. His leadership skills were not dispensed from someone, he was interested
to learn more and his characters may be from birth or from family nurture, education helped him to
become good leader.
Family nurture also very important for people to be in a right way and to do right things, there are
many about this. There are many families with high education, with high cultural values, but their
children do not become like their parents or like they want them to be. The reasons might be
different. The first reason is that people do not spend time with their children, or they do not have
time for this. Moreover it depends on people's character form birth.
When I chose this book I thought it would be very informative and I would be able to get more
information about World War

Comparing Orville And Wilbur Wright
Orville and Wilbur Wright were two brothers who became interested with objects that fly. Orville
was born August 19, 1871 in Dayton, Ohio. Orville's brother Wilbur was born April 16, 1867 in
Millville, Indiana. Their parents were Milton and Susan Wright; they were married in 1859. Milton
Wright was born 1828 on his father's farm in Rush County, Indiana. He worked as a farmhand until
he joined the Church of the United Brethren 1847, and he was ordained a minister in the church in
1856. Their mother, Susan Wright, was born 1831 in Loudoun County near Hillsboro, Virginia. Her
father, John Gottlieb Koerner, was a skilled wagon maker who had immigrated to America from the
tiny village of Förthen, Germany in 1818. While the boys were young, they lived in Dayton Ohio;
they stayed there until they were adults and started a business where they designed and repaired
bicycles.
In the Wright family, there were a total of seven children. Orville and Wilbur were two of them. The
other five were Lorin Wright, Reuchlin Wright, Katharine Wright, and twins Ida and Otis Wright,
the twins were born in 1870; the twins died in infancy. In 1878 the brothers had their first

Film Festival At Antelope Valley College
Title Undetermined
When taking a look at the extensive list of films I decided to pick and choose from a date range and
genre range. I wanted to not only focus on one area of film, but also on different aspects across the
board stylistically and ...... Some of the films I chose because they were tried and true favourites of
mine, and some I chose because I had never heard of them before. I wanted to comfort and
challenge myself at the same time while taking into consideration what may work best for the
theoretical Film Festival at Antelope Valley College. When I think of Film Festivals I think of a
presentation to help entice the psyche toward a more progressive thought process. Films need to
make the audience stop and think for a little bit afterward, there needs to be a pause, a moment of
"huh...", even if brief. It needs to be something different, something unusual. Film Festivals
shouldn't be for standard films, they shouldn't be for the mass marketed and well known. So as much
as I loved, Star Wars for example, I knew it was less than ideal for this situation. This assignment
also gave me the opportunity to reassess the validity of some films that I thought I had liked but
upon second analysis, might not hold in such high regard. In the end the films I chose are Juno, High
Noon, The King's Speech, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop
Worrying and Love the Bomb, and Apocalypse Now. The Lancaster and the Antelope Valley area in

The Underage Drinking Crisis in America Essay
By definition and federal law, underage drinking is any person under 21 who are consuming alcohol.
In 2011, Missouri had 258 total alcohol impaired fatalities. Forty–six, or thirty percent, of these
fatalities were under the age of twenty–one (Century Council). Surely, it does not happen in small
towns like Warrensburg. Yes, in fact, it does happen in Warrensburg, the reason being it is a college
town, and Whiteman Air Force Base is just twenty minutes outside the town. Here are stories of
underage drinking incidences that occurred in Warrensburg, Jackson County, and St. Joseph. In
October 2008, UCM homecoming night, a second floor fight broke out in Club Blue, a bar down on
Pine Street. The fight caused an 'all–call', which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before answering these questions, let us look at some background information first. First, what does
Missouri law say about underage drinking? Secondly, what are some reasons that may cause minors
to start drinking? Lastly, what are possible consequences of underage drinking? Background
Missouri law has a lot to say when it comes to minors and their use of alcohol. Some laws are
decent, while others are less decent. Let us examine the decent laws first. First, according to the
APIS, Missouri law prohibits underage possession of alcohol with no exceptions. Next, State law,
also prohibits any internal possession of alcohol by minors, with absolutely no exceptions. Third,
the purchase of alcohol by minors is prohibited, with the exception of undercover law enforcement
purposes. The next two laws are perhaps part of the problem of underage drinking. These two laws
allow for the furnishing of minors with alcohol. Fourth, Missouri law says that furnishing minors
with alcohol is prohibited, with the exception of a parent or guardian. Finally, the law of Missouri
prohibits social hosting parties, which gives minors access to alcohol, again with the exception of
family (APIS). Whatever Missouri law says about underage drinking; the law is only one part of the
problem, what about the factors that lead minors to start drinking? Many factors may lead under
aged citizens to drink, according to the National Institutes of Health. Here are just a few of them.

The Military Installation Of America 's 21st Century Wars
This is not what war is supposed to look like. That is my first thought upon arriving at MacDill Air
Force Base, Florida, on March 11, 2010. We stop at a small red–roofed gatehouse with a single–
beamed electric post. The quiet entrance of this base, with its red–leafed palms, towering oaks, and
rows of citrus trees, set on a 6,000–acre peninsula, has the appearance of an idyllic beach resort. The
wooden gatehouse is neither substantial nor imposing. It does not hint of Fortress America–nor
would it pass the minimum post–9/11 standards of perimeter security. Its diminutive scale is far out
of proportion to the consequential institutions on the other side. For me, the disparity is jarring.

The B-Two Spirit: Past, Present, And Future
The B– 2 Spirit was Jack Northrop's dream it was an aircraft concept that he worked hard to develop

the preeminent fighter planes ever created because of the stealth technology used in the aircraft.
Stealth technology, also known as LO technology allows the B–2 to avoid radar and being
detectable to the enemy. The stealth technology allows the aircraft to have a great advantage over
the United States of America adversaries. Radar technology was developed in the 1930s, which
allowed military forces to detect aircraft. Once radar was developed scientist started conducting
research to create a technology to allow aircraft to be invisible to radar the stealth technology was an
answer to radar. Stealth technology allows the B–2 spirit aircraft to elude military radar, also the B–

Women in the Army
Women Army
Women total up till about 14% of the 1.4 million military personnel in the United States army.
(Gabbatt, 2013) The statistics in pentagon state that about 144 military women have been killed and
around 865 women have been injured in combat and noncombat incidents in Afghanistan and in
Iraq. (Parrish ,2012) As of 2012, there were about 20,000 women deployed in Afghanistan and this
number is even likely to increase. Women have become an integral part of the army service in
Afghanistan and Iraq. Seeing how women have been equally hurt and injured in the wars, they
should be given an equal position along with their male counterparts. Apart from equality in the
military, it is quite essential for women to be given same ranks because this inequality is the leading
cause of increased sexual assaults on women. This sort of change is required and needs to be
implemented in a very organized manner. Transformational leadership needs to come into play
where everyone's ideologies are kept intact but the change is made merely by producing enthusiasm
in the entire group. (Denning, 2007)
Even though they make up a significant amount, the participation of the women couldn't be
optimum to the plethora of bans imposed on them. The most direct and comprising ban on women is
the 1994 direct ground combat assignment and definition rule. This rule basically restricted women
from participating in activities such as direct ground combat, co–location, berthing and privacy,

Volatile Organic Compounds
Overview
The Edwards Air Force Base located in Antelope Valley in Southern California was built to test new
aircraft and help integrate them into the U.S. Air Force. The site became a flight test center after
World War II. As an air base, many chemicals and fuel are stored here and throughout its history
there have been spills and improper disposals. This became an environmental hazard when the
contaminants began to seep into the ground. The EPA, the Air Force, and two state agencies signed a
Federal Facility Agreement in 1990 to address this issue.
Activities That Led to Pollution
The activities that led to the pollution were the storage of fuel, Volatile Organic Compounds, metals,

VOCs can easily become vapors or gasses making it very toxic to any in the area who inhale it.
Perchlorate, which came from the many years of rocket fuel resting, 1, 4–dioxane, and various
metals are non–volatile contaminants found in some areas. N–Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) is a
semi volatile organic compound suspected of being a carcinogen and is a known hepatotoxin. Some
of the less harmful contaminants include landfills that may contain unexploded artillery, weapons or
other munitions related materials. Perfluorinated Compounds (PFCs), an unregulated group of
chemicals, has also been found and is being investigated at different sites on the base.
Harmful Effects
Trichloroethene has been associated with hepatotoxicity. Exposure also produces decreased appetite,
gastrointestinal irritation, headaches, skin irritation. Chronic exposure produces ataxia (loss of full

Tetrachloroethene is a group 2A carcinogen. This means that it is likely a probable carcinogen. It is
also a Central Nervous System depressant and due to its fat solubility it can enter through the skin

Technology And Its Impact On The World 's Space Program
Who in here owns a GPS or has a GPS built into their smartphone? Have you ever wondered how
that works or more importantly, how did that GPS satellite travel from the ground to its 12,000 mile
Medium Earth orbit? If you have ever seen a rocket launch on TV or in person you know how
impressive that event is...
This technological wonder or technology advancement was made possible by a Visionary Leader
named General Bernard "Bennie" A. Schriever, a Visionary Leader, who is better known as being
the "Father of America's Space Program". This man's hard work and vision is responsible for
creation of the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) fleet and paving the foundation for
launching satellites in orbit. Through his 32–year career, he had many roles and with hard work and
vision, he created a legacy that is still relevant to this day.
Over the next 5 minutes, I will provide examples of how Bennie was a Visionary Leader through
with the use of the Full Range Leadership's Transformation attribute of Idealized Influence and the
use of Diversity in his teams. Once explained I will relate those concepts on how I have applied

When Doctors Make Mistakes, By Atul Gawande, And Columbia...
Communication is an essential tool needed to advance several major processes in society. According
to the Merriam–Webster Dictionary, communication is the act or process of using words, sounds,
songs, or behaviors to express your ideas, thoughts, and feelings to someone else. Such interaction
between human being is significant due to the innate fact that we as humans are social beings.
Communication not only aids human beings in expressing ideologies, but in everyday duties such as
education, work, medical care, and other key aspects. A lack of communication is dangerous in
many circumstances. In two essays, "When Doctors Make Mistakes", by Atul Gawande, and
"Columbia's Last Flight, by William Langewiesche the reader can perceive how a lack of
communication can be lethal.
In the medical field, precision is of the utmost importance when it comes to successfully ensuring
that the job is done. Even the slightest mistake can be lethal, making communication vital in the
medical field. A group of doctors and nurses must communicate and act like a single unit to
complete the procedure. In "When Doctors Make Mistake", the author, Atul Gawande, recalls a case
where his team worked on a specific crash victim and the breathing tube could not fit in the trachea.
Due to a lack of communication, one of the staff members tried to force the tube down the trachea
causing more damage. In the essay, Gawande assesses the situation and agrees with his team to
bring in a specialist to solve the

Chuck Yeagar : The Boy Who Would Become A Man
Chuck Yeagar was born Febuary 13 1923.The tiny town of Hamlin, West Virginia sits nestled in the
Appalachian foothills, just about as far from worldwide acclaim as anyplace that's barely a dot on
the map. Yet it was here that the boy who would become a legend became a man. The second son of
Albert Hal and Susie Mae Yeager, Chuck was always a curious kid. When he wasn't climbing trees
or exploring in the woods, he could often be found by Grandpa Yeager's side watching, listening,
and learning how to become a skillful hunter and fisherman. Grandpa Yeager also kindled in young
Chuck an interest and respect for nature and the outdoors that remains to this day.

down on his eighth combat mission on 5 March. With the help of the French underground, he
evaded capture and rejoined his unit in England. Carrying his appeal to return to combat all the way
up the chain to Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, he resumed combat
operations in August, flying Glamorous Glenn II, a P–51C with a "Malcolm Hood" canopy. Soon,
Yeager was flying the P–51D model, which he named Glamorous Glen III, and in which he achieved
most of his aerial victories. Blessed with exceptional 20/10 vision, Yeager had eyes that could "see
forever." He combined this advantage with cunning, concentration, relentless ferocity and superb
piloting skills to rack up a final total of 12.5 aerial victories–including five Me109s on 12 October
and four FW 190s on 27 November.
Now, a full colonel, Yeager returned to Edwards as deputy director of flight test in 1961. The
following year he took over as commander of the new USAF Aerospace Research Pilot School

Iroquois Confederacy
IROQUOIS CONFEDERACY
by Loretta Hall
OVERVIEW
The Iroquois Confederacy, an association of six linguistically related tribes in the northeastern
woodlands, was a sophisticated society of some 5,500 people when the first white explorers
encountered it at the beginning of the seventeenth century. The 1990 Census counted 49,038
Iroquois living in the United States, making them the country's eighth most populous Native
American group. Although Iroquoian tribes own seven reservations in New York state and one in
Wisconsin, the majority of the people live off the reservations. An additional 5,000 Iroquois reside
in Canada, where there are two Iroquoian reservations. The people are not averse to adopting new
technology when it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During that period, the Iroquois began to acquire European trade goods through raids on other
Indian tribes. They found the metal axes, knives, hoes, and kettles far superior to their implements
of stone, bone, shell, and wood. Woven cloth began to replace the animal skins usually used for
clothing materials.
The recurring raids prompted the French to help their Indian allies attack the Iroquois in 1609,
opening a new technological era for the people of the Confederacy. French body armor was made of
metal, whereas that of the Iroquois was made of slatted wood. Furthermore, the French fought with
firearms, while traditional Iroquois weapons were bows and arrows, stone tomahawks, and wooden
warclubs.
In response to European influence, the Iroquois gradually changed their military tactics to
incorporate stealth, surprise, and ambush. Their motives for fighting also changed. In the past, they
had fought for prestige or revenge, or to obtain goods or captives; now they fought for economic
advantage, seeking control over bountiful beaver hunting grounds or perhaps a stash of beaver skins
to trade for European goods.
Although it provided the Indians with better tools, European incursion into the territory was
disastrous for the indigenous people. In the 1690s alone, the Iroquois lost between 1,600 and 2,000
people in fighting with other Indian tribes. In addition, European diseases such as smallpox,
measles, influenza, lung infections,

Official Mail Center Security Paper
Official Mail Center Security Program "Security programs are aimed at creating an appreciation and
understanding of the Security Department's objectives as they relate to the specific industry they
serve" (Sennewald, 2013). Businesses come in all different sizes, some big some small. Businesses
need a plan to ensure assets, personnel, and facilities are protected and this plan must be actively in
place. Security programs provide businesses with the framework needed to keep a business or
company at the security level needed to operate. This can be done in numerous ways. Assessing the
risks involved, lessening the gravity of those risks, and keeping the security program and the
security practices updated are just to name a few. In this core assessment paper, I will identify an

Case Study of Terrorism Essay
On September 11, 2001, the United States (U.S.) experienced an act of overt terrorism unparalleled
in its history. The extremist terrorist group, al Qaeda, attacked the U.S and briefly paralyzed a
nation. This was a physical attack on the US, but in retrospect, a global attack on democracy. The
U.S. and its coalition partners came to the realization that this act of terrorism was potentially a
precursor to an asymmetric warfare campaign that had global impact. After carefully analyzing the
magnitude of this event, the U.S. realized this could not be a unilateral effort; it had to seek support
from its partners in countering terror campaigns worldwide. In support of the U.S. efforts, the Air

Global Strike Command Essay
The Air Forces' Global Strike Command's mission is to provide strategic deterrence, global strike
and combat support. (1) Global Reach and air and space superiority simply can't be achieved
without the global strike mission. With the expertise of over 26,000 Airmen, the Air Force's nuclear
and conventional precision strike forces can credibly threaten and effectively conduct global strike
by holding any target on the planet at risk and, if necessary, disabling or destroying it promptly–
even from bases in the continental United States. These forces possess the unique ability to achieve
tactical, operational, and strategic effects all in the course of a single combat mission. (3) We proved
our capabilities in 2011, with the air bombings in Libya with bombers that took off from Whiteman

Public Safety Is A Discipline Fit For Certain Individuals
Public safety is a discipline fit for certain individuals. The type of work they do is different from one
day to the next. Thinking on your toes, adaptability, having authority, and enthusiasm are just a few
traits that are necessary to be successful. The term public safety refers to the welfare and protection
of the general public. The goal of public safety officials is to provide protection and prevention of
dangers affecting the public like crimes, man–made disasters, and natural disasters. One such person
who fits the mold of an emergency manager or public safety official is Mr. Eugene Holley. Mr.

Emotional stability is the ability to tolerate frustration and stress. Being able to be well–adjusted and
have the psychological maturity to handle situations are required to have emotional stability (Air
University, 2014). During Sandy, Mr. Holley had to manage personnel, equipment, facilities, and
aircraft during a potentially volatile storm. Mr. Holley was constantly being asked "what if" scenario
questions by leadership, and without hesitation he was able to come up with a clear, concise plan of
attack. Enthusiasm is another trait shown by leaders like Mr. Holley, and enthusiastic leaders are
usually seen as active, expressive, and energetic. Optimism is a key to being enthusiastic, along with
being open to change. Generally, being quick and alert are also required. This type of storm was so
severe, we did not have enough facilities to house all of the equipment on base. Mr. Holley
calculated a plan to evacuate all the aircraft without hardened facilities to another location. His plan
was evaluated and executed within the allotted time frame and with meticulousness.
Compulsiveness is precision and control in social interactions. Being protective of their integrity and
reputation while also maintaining social awareness and foresight are important qualities of this trait.

Alan Mann Short Story
Alan Mann's Life Story
Alan Mann
Southeastern Oklahoma State University
Alan Mann's Life Story Alan Mann was born in 1974 in the city of Monroe, Michigan. Monroe is
about 40 miles South of Detroit on Lake Erie. He has two older brothers named Jason and Michael.
Alan's parents met when they were in the Navy. His father changed services to the Army and was
stationed in Monroe as a recruiter after returning from the Vietnam War. Being born the son of an
Army member makes one an "Army Brat" which means moving very often and attending several
schools over one's lifetime (Baker, 2015). One of his earliest memories is of his mother bundling
him up to go outside in the heavy snows of a Michigan winter storm. In 1978, the family moved to
Mainz, Germany where he attended the first grade. While stationed there, the family visited many
German castles, learned a lot of German history, went on Volksmarches which were noncompetitive
walkathons (AVA) and met a lot of interesting people. In 1981, the family moved back to the United
States to Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. There, Alan attended Logan Heights Elementary School. His
house was on a street that had a dead end. Beyond the dead end was literally the desert complete
with cactuses, tumbleweeds, horned frogs, and tarantulas. He loved going over the border to Juarez,
Mexico with the family and haggling with the merchants for items. Finally, in 1982 the family
moved to Ft. Polk, Louisiana for his last move which is where his father retired from the military. In
Louisiana, Alan attended Leesville Junior High and High School. He graduated with honors in 1992.
He enrolled at Northwestern State University for the fall semester. However, he was working full
time, had an hour long commute to classes, and a new girlfriend that would soon be his wife. His
grades weren't very good. Alan decided perhaps he was ready for a break from school and was ready
to do a little "growing up". Having a long history of military service in his family, he looked to do
his duty and serve also. After talking with the recruiters in his home town, the Air Force seemed to
have the jobs he found most interesting. He took the ASVAB test and scored high enough to select

Descriptive Narrative Essay
It's hard to explain, the feelings and thoughts I had that day. Immense joy, and yet towering fear. So
many words come to mind, looking back on it now. I felt alienated, yet accepted. I felt accepted,
with the other women standing by me. I felt alienated by the immense amount of mens eyes on us. A
penetrating stare, as though we didn't belong. Anxious, yet eager. It's nerve wracking being the first,
being a leader. But I knew this was my place. Superior, yet inferior. Superior, with that crisp uniform
upon my body. Inferior, the mens eyes. June 28, 1976. The bus moves along, ascending into the
mountains of colorado springs. Every bump makes my stomach tie into a knot even tighter than
before. There is chatter, the sound of what we are. Teenage girls. I drift from the talk and find myself
thinking back to what my father said so me so long before this day. "They will rip you of all of your
rights and hand them back to you one by one." I am prepared for it. I know that I am strong enough
for the future coming my way. The Air Force Academy is my future. A particularly jostling bump
brings my back into my seat. I join into the conversations as the bus continues its constant low hum

Stealth Aircraft On Bombing Missions
The advantages and disadvantages of using stealth aircraft on bombing missions are varied, from
their use in conflict to the risks and costs involved in operating such an aircraft. They are beneficial
in restricting the length and time of battles especially when capable of long missions, but at a
substantial cost to both the crew operating the craft and the US Air Force itself. This essay will
explore the long missions the F–117 and B–2 stealth aircraft are capable of, the costs involved in
developing and operating such aircraft, and their efficiency in battle.
An advantage of using stealth aircraft such as the F–117 Nighthawk and the B–2 Spirit stealth
bomber is the capability that these aircraft have to undertake long missions. The B–2 was first used
in 1999 in the Kosovo War, when six aircraft flew a non–stop round journey from their Missouri
base, a mission taking 30 hours. The aircraft are highly automated, from their navigational systems
to their weaponry and attack systems. They navigate using GPS and highly accurate inertial
guidance systems which assist the autopilot functions. Bombing missions are automatically
organised by a digital planning system that can carry out all functions, including release of the
weapons themselves. Laser–guided bombs are used such as a pair of GBU–10, GBU–12, or BLU–
109 penetration bombs, or Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs). Because of the high level of
automation, and the decreasing cost and size of electronic equipment, it is

Pros And Cons Of Long-Term Franchise
Long–Term Franchise (BOT or LDO)
Around the world, long–term franchises for infrastructure facilities are usually referred to as BOT
projects, because under this type of contractual agreement the private sector builds, operates, and
eventually transfers to government the facility in question. When a lease of the underlying land is
involved, this type of arrangement is sometimes called Lease–Develop–Operate (LDO); in this case
the "transfer" back to government is implicit approach is widely used for several reasons. First, it
taps into a different pool of capital than is normally available for public infrastructure projects,
thereby expanding the range of potential funding sources. Second, private consortia are often able to
design and build large facilities in significantly less time than is possible via traditional government
procurement methods. Third, both the up–front cost and the operating costs may be ... Show more

Fourth, BOT is a way of shifting many of the risks of project development from the public sector to
the private sector. For these reasons, airport BOT projects have proliferated in recent years. As of
early 1994, there were 15 airport BOT terminal or runway projects under way worldwide, and
another five projects to develop entire new airports. In addition, another 18 such projects were under
study. No outright airport BOT project has yet occurred in the United States, but Transport Canada
used this process to develop the successful international terminal (Terminal 3) at Toronto (as will be
discussed in the next section). Many U.S. airports have used something resembling an LDO process
to develop new terminals sponsored by either one or a group of airlines, which gain exclusive
control of the gates in that terminal. But this type of project raises important competition and access
issues that do not arise when the developer/operator is an independent third party which relates to all
airlines equally as users (as is the case

Training Facilities For Rapid City Essay
The small town of Rapid City, South Dakota has a population of nearly 71,000 residents. The main
employer to Rapid City is home to roughly 3,500 military veterans located at Ellsworth Air Force
Base. When the term 'military' comes to mind, an assortment of words come to mind. Deployment.
Family. War. Aircraft. To some though, the word fitness comes to mind first. Everyone knows that in
order to be a member of the United States military, you must be fit. Every member of the Armed
Forces know that they can be called upon at any time to perform an assortment of tasks, and being
physically fit is a priority. Nearly every military base has a gym or fitness facility, but who wants to
visit the base after hours to work out? How often do you catch yourself watching the clock, waiting
for the hour hand to strike four so that you can check out for the day? Because of this, fitness
facilities throughout the city is a hot topic amongst military veterans. Towards the end of 2015,
Rapid City was home to three small–scale fitness centers. Because of the lack of choices, of course
it made sense to charge steep prices. In December of 2015, that all changed with the arrival of Planet
Fitness. Planet Fitness, founded in 1992, focused on reducing prices to compete against the other

Role Of Eglin Air Force Base During World War II
Looking back to World War II, nobody ever thinks about who contributed to the war and how he or

Eglin Air Force Base was originally started as Valparaiso Airport in 1933. There was a purchase of
an arrow–head shaped parcel of 137 acres. The area was cleared for use as an airdrome. "On 1

In May 1941, the Army Air Corps designated Eglin as the Air Corps Proving Ground, removing it
from the jurisdiction of the Southeast Air Corps Training Command and placing the base
immediately under the control of the Chief of Air Corps. The primary purpose of the Proving
Ground was to provide a station for tactical test of aircraft armament and accessory equipment and
of aviation tactics and techniques.
Due to increasing size, Eglin Field was renamed Eglin Field Military Reservation in recognition of
its importance to the Air Corps. "Appropriations of $202,536 were announced by Congressman Bob
Sikes of Crestview in mid–April 1941 for construction and installation of water, sewage, electrical
facilities, sidewalks, roads, fences, parking areas, landscaping and for the construction of a sewage

issued. The IS will be used for non–critical information addressing only one particular subject or
section of the MRSM/QCM. The Accountable Manager is responsible for drafting and approving the
supplement. The IS will be implemented immediately upon Accountable Manager approval and all
official copies of the MRSM/QCM will be updated by the Accountable Manager/designee. In
addition, the supplement shall be submitted to the FAA/FSMO for review. If the FAA/FSMO has
questions or concerns about any information in the IS, the Accountable Manager shall address the
issues, correct the supplement as needed, and resubmit to the FAA/FSMO for further review.
The IS will be incorporated in the next revision to the MRSM/QCM. Once the revision has been

Airman Mission

  • 1. Airman Mission Primary goal.. Finish the mission. As the motto goes for the men and women that make up the United States Air Force, FLY..FLIGHT..and WIN. The main question is, how does one airman fit into the Whitman mission? Coming from an First class airman, I can tell you that everyone who makes up the one percent has a role big or small. By raising your hand and entering the Air Force is step one of many in completing or having a part in that mission: Global Strike. Each base has it own mission that makes up the bigger mission in the Air force, and without our men and women we would not be making that mission a reality. Going through a total of 4 months including Basic military training, I know now that i am part of something better than i can imagine. Everyone can argue that their job more important, but in all reality. We are all important from services to being the commander. Each role we are given is more than a line number. We make up that one percent. We are the Air Force. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I can be found at the 20th attack squadron in a room about the size of the dorm rooms. Us ARMS work here at Whiteman but we deal with RPA from all over the world making sure that each and every one of them are able to complete that mission where they are located. I do sit at a desk but i work hand in hand with intel and other AFSC here at whitman, so that people flying with whitman mission and Creech mission are completing it ... • 5. Case Study Into Uneven Cockpit Gradient : The B-52 Crash Within an organization, a poor leader or team member who is selfish and only looking for what is good for them will make the circle small enough to cover themselves and their immediate members. This is known as the "inner circle" of society. But a good leader is willing to stretch the circle around every member of the organization in order to make every team member feel safe. It's only when the team members feel safe that they can spend their time and resources on what truly makes the organization move, as opposed to spending time on making themselves safe. Making yourself safe, when outside the circle, can be a tiring exercise and one that a lot of us have experienced. It could mean spending energy trying to defend a position you hold in the work team. It may mean ensuring that your direct report does not take the credit for work you have completed. It's all tiring and decays the trust within any team. Case Study into Uneven Cockpit Gradient: The B–52 Fairchild Crash The 1994 Fairchild Air Force Base B–52 crash is a commonly used case study when talking about cockpit gradients. The accident occurred at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington, when the pilot of a B–52 bomber, Arthur "Bud" Holland, flew the aircraft beyond its limits and lost control. The aircraft ultimately fell and exploded on ground, killing Holland and the other three U.S. Air Force crew members inside. The investigation found that the crash happened primarily for three reasons: "Holland's personality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Example Of Personal Narrative Report On September 30, 2007, my father, Rodney Woodington, Senior Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force, presented my siblings and me with the Coin of the Military B.R.A.T. The coin is awarded to the children who spend their lives serving along their parents. The words inscribed on its crest: boldness, responsibility, adaptability, and tolerance, each of these traits that I have acquired on my journey from base to base, continue to be my guiding lights. It was the first port of call for President Lyndon B. Johnson on his trips home to LBJ Country aboard Air Force One, it was where Chuck Yeager, the first pilot to break the sound barrier, once brought a disabled jet to rest in an emergency landing. In September 1993, in the path of military cutbacks Bergstrom Air Force Base was closed. As a result, substantial numbers of airports will come to be operated by a worldwide network of airport operators. These worldwide operators will engage in healthy competition with each other to be efficient and offer superior services, and thus support the objectives of the investor groups in which they participate. The city of Austin expectations by privatizing were: „h Accountability. Private contractors are paid for results. General Pete Quesada and the Triumph of Tactical Air Power in World War II I would like to begin my paper with the quote by John Kennedy "learning and Leadership are indispensable to each other."1 I think it is a great saying about leadership I have ever heard. There are many books about leadership. But if someone wants to be a good leader and if they do not have leadership abilities, character from birth, they will never be able to be a good leader. When we say leader, we have to think about people who are able to encourage their people to believe them, their thoughts, be ready to follow them. There can be another ability of leaders. It is to do right things and make their people to do the same. But not like some leaders, who do not do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These books about leadership can be examples for those people who have leadership skill; these books can be a guide for those people. These books about leadership will help people with leadership abilities to make their job easier, but will not make them good leaders. When I read this book we can understand that commanders as good leaders cannot be far from their men they command. Quesada has this character, he saw his men as his sons. Moreover good leaders must be able to put themselves in a place of people in front of them. Such kind of characters can make officers a good leaders and General Elwood had these skills and characters. These characters made him a great leader. His leadership skills were not dispensed from someone, he was interested to learn more and his characters may be from birth or from family nurture, education helped him to become good leader. Family nurture also very important for people to be in a right way and to do right things, there are many about this. There are many families with high education, with high cultural values, but their children do not become like their parents or like they want them to be. The reasons might be different. The first reason is that people do not spend time with their children, or they do not have time for this. Moreover it depends on people's character form birth. Milton Wright was born 1828 on his father's farm in Rush County, Indiana. • 20. Film Festival At Antelope Valley College Title Undetermined When taking a look at the extensive list of films I decided to pick and choose from a date range and genre range. I wanted to not only focus on one area of film, but also on different aspects across the board stylistically and ...... Some of the films I chose because they were tried and true favourites of mine, and some I chose because I had never heard of them before. I wanted to comfort and challenge myself at the same time while taking into consideration what may work best for the theoretical Film Festival at Antelope Valley College. When I think of Film Festivals I think of a presentation to help entice the psyche toward a more progressive thought process. Films need to make the audience stop and think for a little bit afterward, there needs to be a pause, a moment of "huh...", even if brief. It needs to be something different, something unusual. Film Festivals shouldn't be for standard films, they shouldn't be for the mass marketed and well known. So as much as I loved, Star Wars for example, I knew it was less than ideal for this situation. This assignment also gave me the opportunity to reassess the validity of some films that I thought I had liked but upon second analysis, might not hold in such high regard. • 22. The Underage Drinking Crisis in America Essay By definition and federal law, underage drinking is any person under 21 who are consuming alcohol. In 2011, Missouri had 258 total alcohol impaired fatalities. Forty–six, or thirty percent, of these fatalities were under the age of twenty–one (Century Council). Surely, it does not happen in small towns like Warrensburg. Yes, in fact, it does happen in Warrensburg, the reason being it is a college town, and Whiteman Air Force Base is just twenty minutes outside the town. Here are stories of underage drinking incidences that occurred in Warrensburg, Jackson County, and St. Joseph. In October 2008, UCM homecoming night, a second floor fight broke out in Club Blue, a bar down on Pine Street. The fight caused an 'all–call', which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before answering these questions, let us look at some background information first. First, what does Missouri law say about underage drinking? Secondly, what are some reasons that may cause minors to start drinking? Lastly, what are possible consequences of underage drinking? Background Missouri law has a lot to say when it comes to minors and their use of alcohol. Some laws are decent, while others are less decent. Let us examine the decent laws first. First, according to the APIS, Missouri law prohibits underage possession of alcohol with no exceptions. Next, State law, also prohibits any internal possession of alcohol by minors, with absolutely no exceptions. Third, the purchase of alcohol by minors is prohibited, with the exception of undercover law enforcement purposes. The next two laws are perhaps part of the problem of underage drinking. These two laws allow for the furnishing of minors with alcohol. Fourth, Missouri law says that furnishing minors with alcohol is prohibited, with the exception of a parent or guardian. Finally, the law of Missouri prohibits social hosting parties, which gives minors access to alcohol, again with the exception of family (APIS). Whatever Missouri law says about underage drinking; the law is only one part of the problem, what about the factors that lead minors to start drinking? Many factors may lead under aged citizens to drink, according to the National Institutes of Health. Here are just a few of them. The first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That is my first thought upon arriving at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, on March 11, 2010. We stop at a small red–roofed gatehouse with a single– beamed electric post. The quiet entrance of this base, with its red–leafed palms, towering oaks, and rows of citrus trees, set on a 6,000–acre peninsula, has the appearance of an idyllic beach resort. The wooden gatehouse is neither substantial nor imposing. It does not hint of Fortress America–nor would it pass the minimum post–9/11 standards of perimeter security. (Gabbatt, 2013) The statistics in pentagon state that about 144 military women have been killed and around 865 women have been injured in combat and noncombat incidents in Afghanistan and in Iraq. (Parrish ,2012) As of 2012, there were about 20,000 women deployed in Afghanistan and this number is even likely to increase. Women have become an integral part of the army service in Afghanistan and Iraq. Seeing how women have been equally hurt and injured in the wars, they should be given an equal position along with their male counterparts. Apart from equality in the military, it is quite essential for women to be given same ranks because this inequality is the leading cause of increased sexual assaults on women. This sort of change is required and needs to be implemented in a very organized manner. Transformational leadership needs to come into play where everyone's ideologies are kept intact but the change is made merely by producing enthusiasm in the entire group. According to the Merriam–Webster Dictionary, communication is the act or process of using words, sounds, songs, or behaviors to express your ideas, thoughts, and feelings to someone else. Such interaction between human being is significant due to the innate fact that we as humans are social beings. Communication not only aids human beings in expressing ideologies, but in everyday duties such as education, work, medical care, and other key aspects. A lack of communication is dangerous in many circumstances. In two essays, "When Doctors Make Mistakes", by Atul Gawande, and "Columbia's Last Flight, by William Langewiesche the reader can perceive how a lack of communication can be lethal. In the medical field, precision is of the utmost importance when it comes to successfully ensuring that the job is done. Even the slightest mistake can be lethal, making communication vital in the medical field. A group of doctors and nurses must communicate and act like a single unit to complete the procedure. In "When Doctors Make Mistake", the author, Atul Gawande, recalls a case where his team worked on a specific crash victim and the breathing tube could not fit in the trachea. Due to a lack of communication, one of the staff members tried to force the tube down the trachea causing more damage. During that period, the Iroquois began to acquire European trade goods through raids on other Indian tribes. They found the metal axes, knives, hoes, and kettles far superior to their implements of stone, bone, shell, and wood. Woven cloth began to replace the animal skins usually used for clothing materials. The recurring raids prompted the French to help their Indian allies attack the Iroquois in 1609, opening a new technological era for the people of the Confederacy. French body armor was made of metal, whereas that of the Iroquois was made of slatted wood. Furthermore, the French fought with firearms, while traditional Iroquois weapons were bows and arrows, stone tomahawks, and wooden warclubs. In response to European influence, the Iroquois gradually changed their military tactics to incorporate stealth, surprise, and ambush. Their motives for fighting also changed. In the past, they had fought for prestige or revenge, or to obtain goods or captives; now they fought for economic advantage, seeking control over bountiful beaver hunting grounds or perhaps a stash of beaver skins to trade for European goods. Although it provided the Indians with better tools, European incursion into the territory was disastrous for the indigenous people. In the 1690s alone, the Iroquois lost between 1,600 and 2,000 people in fighting with other Indian tribes. In addition, European diseases such as smallpox, measles, influenza, lung infections,

Anxious, yet eager. It's nerve wracking being the first, being a leader. But I knew this was my place. Superior, yet inferior. Superior, with that crisp uniform upon my body. Inferior, the mens eyes. June 28, 1976. The bus moves along, ascending into the mountains of colorado springs. Every bump makes my stomach tie into a knot even tighter than before. There is chatter, the sound of what we are. Teenage girls. I drift from the talk and find myself thinking back to what my father said so me so long before this day. "They will rip you of all of your rights and hand them back to you one by one." I am prepared for it. I know that I am strong enough for the future coming my way. The Air Force Academy is my future. A particularly jostling bump brings my back into my seat. I join into the conversations as the bus continues its constant low hum and swaying motion. The girl across the aisle from me turns to me, "Nervous, much?" Taken aback, I ask her what she means. "Your face, it looks a bit– uh uneasy." "Yeah, a little bit, I guess. And you aren't?" "I never said that I wasn't." She answered, a look of knowing seemed to shine in her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Stealth Aircraft On Bombing Missions The advantages and disadvantages of using stealth aircraft on bombing missions are varied, from their use in conflict to the risks and costs involved in operating such an aircraft. They are beneficial in restricting the length and time of battles especially when capable of long missions, but at a substantial cost to both the crew operating the craft and the US Air Force itself. This essay will explore the long missions the F–117 and B–2 stealth aircraft are capable of, the costs involved in developing and operating such aircraft, and their efficiency in battle. An advantage of using stealth aircraft such as the F–117 Nighthawk and the B–2 Spirit stealth bomber is the capability that these aircraft have to undertake long missions. The B–2 was first used in 1999 in the Kosovo War, when six aircraft flew a non–stop round journey from their Missouri base, a mission taking 30 hours. The aircraft are highly automated, from their navigational systems to their weaponry and attack systems. They navigate using GPS and highly accurate inertial guidance systems which assist the autopilot functions. Bombing missions are automatically organised by a digital planning system that can carry out all functions, including release of the weapons themselves. Laser–guided bombs are used such as a pair of GBU–10, GBU–12, or BLU– 109 penetration bombs, or Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs). Because of the high level of automation, and the decreasing cost and size of electronic equipment, it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. Pros And Cons Of Long-Term Franchise Long–Term Franchise (BOT or LDO) Around the world, long–term franchises for infrastructure facilities are usually referred to as BOT projects, because under this type of contractual agreement the private sector builds, operates, and eventually transfers to government the facility in question. When a lease of the underlying land is involved, this type of arrangement is sometimes called Lease–Develop–Operate (LDO); in this case the "transfer" back to government is implicit approach is widely used for several reasons. First, it taps into a different pool of capital than is normally available for public infrastructure projects, thereby expanding the range of potential funding sources. Second, private consortia are often able to design and build large facilities in significantly less time than is possible via traditional government procurement methods. Third, both the up–front cost and the operating costs may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fourth, BOT is a way of shifting many of the risks of project development from the public sector to the private sector. For these reasons, airport BOT projects have proliferated in recent years. As of early 1994, there were 15 airport BOT terminal or runway projects under way worldwide, and another five projects to develop entire new airports. In addition, another 18 such projects were under study. No outright airport BOT project has yet occurred in the United States, but Transport Canada used this process to develop the successful international terminal (Terminal 3) at Toronto (as will be discussed in the next section). Many U.S. airports have used something resembling an LDO process to develop new terminals sponsored by either one or a group of airlines, which gain exclusive control of the gates in that terminal. But this type of project raises important competition and access issues that do not arise when the developer/operator is an independent third party which relates to all airlines equally as users (as is the case ... Brief Overview of Sponsor Organization and the Problem/Opportunity: Currently at Wright–Patterson Air Force Base a manual process, log books and paper documentation are being used to process the Mass Transportation Benefit Program (MTBP) requests, also known as RideShare and VanPool. Paper processes are also being used for tracking and an audit determined many issues with the current process to include: failure of an audit due to noncompliance of MTBP policy and procedure set forth by the Secretary of the Air Force, improper logging, noncompliant training, and fraud, waste and abuse of government funds. An inefficient noncompliant process and the fraudulent activity has caused a detriment to the Air Force. MTBP Automated Application will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After a recent Audit was conducted by the Department of Transportation who supplies the vehicles for this program, it was found that fraud, waste and abuse of government funds was present. In an effort to continue this program and benefit for all Air Force Employees a new system will be created and implemented over the next Fiscal Year (FY) and waste of government funds will be reduced to zero. Project Goals/Objectives: Reduce government fraud/waste by 80% Expected processing time reduced by 30% 100% compliant with DOD and US Department of Transportation Creation an automated process for the MTBP Implementation of automated process Enforcement of policy for the MTBP program for all of Wright–Patterson AFB. Anticipated Risks: Risk 1: Schedule– At this time, it is unknown the amount of time it will take for the implementation of this new process. My initial analysis is that this will be the area of least concern due to program being housed within my organization and my organization owning the systems and processes that will be implemented. There should be little time spent on process or funding approvals. Once we know all of the modifications that need to be made and implemented we will have a better timeframe and schedule of events. Risk 2: Cost – Currently and one of the largest obstacles for the Air Force is the fact that it is costing the Air Force additional money due to

  • 66. Colorado Springs Police Department Essay The city's recent increases in murder, rape, and burglary rates convince many citizens of colorado springs that their police force is ineffective. Colorado springs at an elevation of 6,035ft, is a city in Colorado at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains. Colorado Springs is the second most populous city in Colorado after Denver. As the population increases it becomes necessary to strengthen and increase the Colorado Springs Police Department. Increasing the number of patrolmen and adding more unmarked patrol cars would make our already strong police department even stronger. Adding more patrolmen should help make the police department stronger for a few reasons. First, if Colorado Springs is the second most populous city, we should be able to get more patrolmen on the force. By Increasing the number of patrolmen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 68. Training Facilities For Rapid City Essay The small town of Rapid City, South Dakota has a population of nearly 71,000 residents. The main employer to Rapid City is home to roughly 3,500 military veterans located at Ellsworth Air Force Base. When the term 'military' comes to mind, an assortment of words come to mind. Deployment. Family. War. Aircraft. To some though, the word fitness comes to mind first. Everyone knows that in order to be a member of the United States military, you must be fit. Every member of the Armed Forces know that they can be called upon at any time to perform an assortment of tasks, and being physically fit is a priority. Nearly every military base has a gym or fitness facility, but who wants to visit the base after hours to work out? How often do you catch yourself watching the clock, waiting for the hour hand to strike four so that you can check out for the day? Because of this, fitness facilities throughout the city is a hot topic amongst military veterans. Towards the end of 2015, Rapid City was home to three small–scale fitness centers. Because of the lack of choices, of course it made sense to charge steep prices. In December of 2015, that all changed with the arrival of Planet Fitness. Planet Fitness, founded in 1992, focused on reducing prices to compete against the other well–known brands. The organization is an American health and wellness franchise that focuses on a casual, yet personal, gym experience with no judgment or discomfort. Their 'no judgment' attitude ... • 70. Role Of Eglin Air Force Base During World War II Looking back to World War II, nobody ever thinks about who contributed to the war and how he or she contributed whether it be money, work, or even his or her own life. Few people in Florida and even in our local area understand the important role Eglin Air Force Base played during World War II. The primary mission of the Base during World War II was to perform operational suitability testing for the Army Air Corps. Eglin Air Force Base was originally started as Valparaiso Airport in 1933. There was a purchase of an arrow–head shaped parcel of 137 acres. The area was cleared for use as an airdrome. "On 1 March 1935, application was made for an FERA grant to pave the runways and to build an office, a barracks 30 x 120, a mess hall and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accelerated aircraft and armament test began in September 1941, three months before Pearl Harbor. In May 1941, the Army Air Corps designated Eglin as the Air Corps Proving Ground, removing it from the jurisdiction of the Southeast Air Corps Training Command and placing the base immediately under the control of the Chief of Air Corps. The primary purpose of the Proving Ground was to provide a station for tactical test of aircraft armament and accessory equipment and of aviation tactics and techniques. Due to increasing size, Eglin Field was renamed Eglin Field Military Reservation in recognition of its importance to the Air Corps. "Appropriations of $202,536 were announced by Congressman Bob Sikes of Crestview in mid–April 1941 for construction and installation of water, sewage, electrical facilities, sidewalks, roads, fences, parking areas, landscaping and for the construction of a sewage disposal plant. Submitted to the WPA headquarters in Washington, DC in late March, the request received presidential approval in April. Work continued apace on some projects on a 24 hour a day basis." In order to provide the air arm a greater autonomy in which to expand more efficiently, the Army Air Corps became the U. S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) in June 1941.
