Making Management Decision About Sarbanes Oxley
Trinity decided to take the bottom up approach when making management decision about Sarbanes–
Oxley in 2003 in order to capture all of the business unit costs and internal measures to ensure that
everything flows upward to the management financial reporting system for the company. The
bottom–up approach is described as: "The process put forth here begins with exploration and
development of personal codes of conduct that influence workers' relationships to their job
functions. Next, formal groupings of employees come together to negotiate moral ideals that they
would hold each other accountable for and that drive combined efforts for professional success. The
subsequent task includes cross–group discussion and cooperation that further ... Show more content

"Control deficiencies, or even significant deficiencies in control, are not publicly disclosed. Rather,
Section 404(b) of SOX requires only the public disclosure of material weaknesses in internal control
over financial reporting. The distinction between control deficiencies, significant deficiencies and
material weaknesses in internal control is made in Auditing Standard (AS) Number 5 ( PCAOB,
2007), which requires the external auditor to evaluate the severity of each control deficiency to
determine whether the deficiencies, individually or in combination, are deemed to be material."
(Clinton, Pinella ,& Skaife, 2014). When it comes to top–down versus bottom–up approach, Trinity
used a top–down approach with Mr. Collum leading the project on compliance. He and his steering
committee laid out all of the factors for sox compliance and internal controls. A bottom–up approach
would have started from manufacturing line of the business. Bottom–up has material risks but can
easily be identified and corrected compared to top–down where it can stall an investigation into the
risk. This would also improve the financial reporting for Trinity. Trinity should adapt the EDP
system for it operation. An EDP system is an electronic data processing system that stores it data in

Microsoft E Business Suite ( Ebs ) Upgrade
Possibly the most comprehensive change to the daily operations will be the Oracle E–business suite
(EBS) upgrade. This IS will provide many solutions to the operations and maintenance managers by
providing total operational oversight at the click of a button. EBS enables users to oversee projects,
asset milestones and budgets, and staff projects. It also has a quick report generator for business
meetings and scheduling. Another feature that will be highly beneficial is the ability for EBS to
integrate and enhance existing programs. It will streamline financials, enhance supply chain
management, and fulfill human capital management requirements. Utilizing the asset lifecycle
management tool within EBS will enhance financial management of our aircraft and equipment
items. It will also calculate the most efficient way to make payments on the aircraft that will
maximize the use of our funds and free up income that can be used elsewhere within the budget.
Many of the equipment items will require calibration from testing measurements and diagnostics
equipment (TMDE) laboratories, which require scheduling and shipping coordination. For this task,
the value chain execution tool would be perfect. It will line up and track the schedule of TMDE
items that require calibration; once the items come due shipping will be coordinated automatically.
There are plenty of applications in the Oracle E–Business Suite that the club will utilize for our E–
Business, as seen in Table 3 in Appendix A

Financial Analysis of Oracle Corp Essays
Financial Analysis of Oracle Corp INTRODUCTION
Background and History
Oracle Corporation is a technology company that supplies software for the use of information
management. They develop, manufacture, market and distribute computer software that helps other
corporations manage their data so they can better grow and prosper.
In 1977, Larry Ellison, Bob Miner, and Ed Oates founded System Development Laboratories. After
being inspired by a research paper written in 1970 by an IBM researcher titled "A Relational Model
of Data for Large Shared Data Banks" they decided to build a new type of database called a
relational database system. The original project on the relational database system was for the

Software As A Service Based Financial And Enterprise...
As of 2014, NetSuite was a leading provider of cloud–based financial and enterprise resource
planning, as well as omnichannel commerce software. Cloud–based computing uses the internet to
deliver applications and software companies from a remote server. By doing this, companies were
able to eliminate the cost of installing and maintaining infrastructure used to store these applications
and other services. NetSuite would typically charge a subscription fee for a pre–arranged amount of
time. The companies that benefit from these services the most are medium–sized companies, as
opposed to large enterprises. This is because the cloud applications require substantially less capital
to build, maintain, and purchase software. Additionally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that the actual computing for these services is done via the "cloud" or off–site, so the
medium sized companies can access everything via a single comprehensive business suite without
the worry of multiple services and having the computing power necessary to manage different
products. These services are licensed for a much shorter period of time, monthly, quarterly, or
annually, so there is a much lower cost of switching between services. These services generate the
actual revenue through direct and indirect methods with almost all sales conducted over the phone.
The direct sales are a product of direct contact with medium sized companies or units of larger
companies while the indirect sales are from relationships with channel partners across many
different sales regions, NA, LA, EU, and AP. The key success factors to its business line were
maintaining a comprehensive product that was affordable to mid–sized companies and sufficiently
differentiated from competitors' products. The comprehensive aspect is demonstrated by the ability
to be a completely one–stop suite for these companies with offerings across all functions, ERP,
HRM, financial management, etc. The affordability aspect is primarily a byproduct of not requiring
a significant upfront cost to the companies and a licensing model with shorter periods of
subscription, the maximum of which is a year. Additionally,

attention to the information and analysis capabilities of each, and the hardware and software
required for each. Finally, I will conclude with a short evaluation of the products discussed and offer

In a SAP environment, the Cognos application helps consolidate and make more efficient the
reporting, planning, and scorecarding functions. Finally, in an Oracle environment the Cognos
application effectively combines with already existing Oracle and PeopleSoft databases, gateways,

Cognos seems to be the business intelligence application that readily fits into almost any existing
environment. I looked at IBM next. IBM is a well–recognized and established name in Information
Technology. It offers a broad business intelligence application capability, so consequently we need
to decide exactly where our data management needs really lie. IBM can offer wide–ranging
consulting services from incorporating specific software applications to solve specific needs, to
totally overhauling our already existing IT architecture and business intelligence system to make it
more efficient. As already stated, IBM relies on Cognos for some of its business intelligence
applications and these seem to be easily integrated with almost any other environment. Additionally,
Cognos offers the most popular OLAP software used today. Oracle was the next company that I

A Fast Paced, Business Ordinated Technological World The...
In a fast paced, business ordinated technological world the overall welfare of a company is tied to
the success or failure to make the tough decisions. On one instance a company's CEO might be able
to make the choices based on experience, advice, or simple gut instinct. However, this is not the
only skill one needs. There is a great deal of information to be found in being able to see
investments in data and analytics. These decisions are based off of big data. Big data is a catch–
phrase, used to describe a massive volume of both structured and unstructured data that is too large
to process using traditional database and software techniques. The volume of data is in most cases is
too big, moves too fast or it exceed the processing capacity the company has. Despite these potential
drawbacks, big data contains the potential to help companies by improving operations and making
faster, more intelligent decisions. This can be broken into three key parts, knowledge, data, and
information. The first of the three is knowledge. This is what drives what one knows, a combination
of experience, insight, and information. All link and categorized in one's brain, allowing an
individual or organization to benefit from that knowledge. However, there lines in the main
difficulty with relying on just knowledge, a computer is not able to understand what it is processing,
and thus cannot make independent decisions based solely on what it's been told. While this seems to
be a simple concept,

Technologies Inc. (Jackson, 2005). The initial phase of the Risk Management life cycle is the
analysis phase, where the first proposal is completed and is allowed to move forward with the risk
assessment effort. Risk Analysis is an instrument for Risk Management and is used to identify
weaknesses and various threats, and then predicts the conceivable losses and where to install
defenses. Risk Analysis is applied to safeguard that security is cost–effective, pertinent, well–timed
and responsive to security implications (Harris, 2016). As part of this phase, the all related
documentation is brought together to define potential threats, risks, and repercussions (Harris,
2016). Also, an initial Return on Investment (ROI) argument should be made to aid management in
constructing an informed decision (Excelsior College Website, 2016). Security can be extremely
difficult and even for well–trained IT professionals can either apply too much or not enough or in
wrong areas. It is way too easy to spend lots money without accomplishing the required purposes.
Doing a risk analysis allows organizations to prioritize their risks and provide a cost benefit
comparison (Excelsior College, 2016). After the Analysis phase, the Business Impact Analysis

Introduction to Business Process Management
Business process management (BPM) is a management approach to make an enterprise's activities
and tasks to be more accurate, more competent and more efficient in adapting to the ever–changing
needs of business. BPM is a far–reaching merging of Business Process Reengineering, Business
Process Improvement, and Business Management strategies and procedures that are intended to
convey both quick and long‐term change. BPM is a structured approach to analyze and continually

It is good to consider an organization as a system because a system links inputs and outputs and the
flow of information from one point to the other. Organizations also focus on cross–functional teams
and it is a combination of complex resources. Organizations have a need which is defined and goals
to reach their mission. People work as entities and they are a part of the organization.
The work of Porter is significant in the emphasis of the business process. He says value chain is a
comprehensive collection of all the activities that are performed to design, produce, and market,
deliver, and support a product line (Porter, 1985). When we combine the concept of the value chain
and system to the organization we understand that organizations span across functional departments
like finance, marketing, sales, and support etc.
Organizations implementing BPM Systems
One of the influential factors on implementation success that emerges from research, trade literature
and practice is the level of process orientation within an organization. (Parkes, 2002). Typical
advantages of implementing a BPM system in an organization are reduced lead times, fewer hand–
off errors, and more flexibility to change the structure of supported business processes. (Parkes,
2002). In the research community, there is some consensus that the essence of a BPMS is the
functionality that has been attributed historically to a workflow management system. (WfMS). (Van
der Aalst et al., 2003, p.

Questions On Cisco 's Management System
 Question 1 Organization: Cisco is a networking company that designs, manufactures, and sells
networking equipment. In 1994, Cisco 's management system was inflexible, which hindered the
development of the company. Appropriate enterprise system Appropriate enterprise system to
support Cisco is ERP system because ERP solved Cisco's problems with flexibility and technology
that happened in 1994. This system give Cisco many benefits such as: 1. With regard to technology,
the IT platform architecture was standardized throughout Cisco 100% for many tasks such as, UNIX
at the server level and Windows NT at the LAN level. 2. The new system provides the employees
with the ability to use internal applications and most functions. This means that the system will help
to improve time and cost efficiency and access to the information. In other words, it will help to
improve employee's productivity and the company's high level of flexibility. 3. The new system has
now more than 17 languages. This will not create any language barrier problems. In addition, it will
increase the number of prospective consumers and the company 's reputation will be largely
renowned. 4. Cisco, with the new system, can ship products all over the Internet. In addition, the
customers could make orders via the Internet from anywhere in the world. 5. Moreover, the new
system provides Cisco the ability to support distance learning. This will help Cisco to communicate
training with the employees. Enterprise

How Marketing Can Be Defined As A Managerial And Social...
Marketing can be defined as a managerial and social process whereby groups and individuals obtain
what they need or desire through the creation of a product, offering it and exchanging the product of
value with others. Some of the marketing concepts include needs, wants, and demand; products;
cost, value, and satisfaction; transactions and exchanges; networks and relationships; markets;
marketers and prospects. A need is a state by which basic satisfaction is deprived. A need is usually a
biological concept that is not created by the marketer. Examples of needs are thirst, safety, shelter,
food and clothing. Wants, on the other hand, can be defined as the desire for a particular satisfaction
of need that is considered to be another level of need. An example of a want is when an individual is
in need of food; he would want the food to be prepared in a particular way and would want the food
to be fish or chicken. Demand, on the other hand, is a want of a particular product backed by the
ability as well as willingness to buy the product. A product can be defined as goods and services that
bring forth the satisfaction to human needs, wants and value. Cost satisfaction, on the other hand, is
defined as the consumer estimates and the capacity of the product to satisfy another need. For one to
get the value of something then there must be something that he is able to give up the opportunity
cost. Different products cost differently depending on the level of satisfaction perceived.

Introduction Innovations in computer processing, data storage, analytics software coupled with
reduced costs have contributed to the emergence of "big data" as a mainstay in the world of
Information Technology. It is no secret that businesses have been looking for ways to parse and
effectively convert the vast amounts the data they 've been able to collect since technology has
allowed them to do so. However, until recently, that has proven either too expensive or arduous of a
process. Peter Sloot, in a call for papers referring to this very topic addresses what is known as the
'Big Data ' problem,
"Such 'Data Explosions ' has led to one of the most challenging research issues of the current
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) era: how to effectively and optimally manage
such large amount of data and identify new ways to analyze large amounts of data for unlocking
information. The issue is also known as the 'Big Data ' problem, which is defined as the practice of
collecting complex data sets so large that it becomes difficult to analyze and interpret manually or
using on–hand data management applications. From the perspective of real–world applications, the
Big Data problem has also become a common phenomenon in domain of science, medicine,
engineering, and commerce"
With emerging analytic capabilities, however, businesses are able to use the data to better predict,

this trend will continue into the foreseeable future. Although the pace has slowed, the number of

Without an ERP solution in place, creating that kind of cross–departmental coordination and
workflow execution can be quite challenging. * Another reason an ERP solution is so critical is their
ability to increase information consistency and accuracy. Many companies still suffer from "multiple
versions of the truth" – incorrect and inconsistent information across the business. For example, if
the accounting department and the contact center access two different databases which aren't
integrated, a customer with a billing question will likely get an inaccurate answer if they call the
contact center for assistance. These problems, although they may appear small on the surface, can
add up, leading to bigger customer satisfaction and retention issues that can negatively impact
revenues and market share. * In today's dynamic and highly competitive marketplace, it can
seriously hinder productivity, profitability, and growth. The primary reason an ERP solution is so
vital to a company's success is efficiency. Cumbersome, error–prone, labor–intensive manual
processes can drain both time and money. Businesses must operate as lean as possible in order to
keep the bottom line in check, and failing to automate critical yet routine business activities makes it

The Oracle Financial Cloud Based Upon Multiple Variables
The oracle financial cloud based upon multiple variables that use technology to impact the business
world. Cloud computing is an idea that is increasingly turning into reality for many companies.
Enterprises, both big and small, are evaluating cloud computing and moving IT infrastructure to the
cloud. To achieve the financial goals of the any organization and be prosperous in today's highly
aggressive market; therefore businesses must have services that are secure, reliable, scalable and
available anywhere at any given time, on any device – all while it lowers cost and minimizes
integration complexity.
The need to have a more modern, consumer–like experience has raised the bar for most businesses
to deliver a level of consumer experience that is only found in enterprise applications that can be
intelligent, information driven, social and mobile, while providing actionable awareness that pushes
collaboration within secure business procedures. In addition, it offers an integrated financial

Developing And Marketing Computer Hardware Systems
Introduction
Reading through the requirement of this paper there were several options to choose from. There are
several companies that offer integration to their customers such as SAP which is the leader in ERP
solutions, Oracle which came to the industry after acquiring PeopleSoft back in 2005, Microsoft,
and IBM. Reading the materials throughout this semester was interesting as it gave me an inside
view of system integration and it made me think of the architecture of how companies integrate their
system or the high level thought of how things are done when big companies acquire other
companies. Researching all these four big companies, I found that Oracle had a lot of products that

There are obvious advantages to both setups. The scale–up version allows us to reduce the
requirement for a robust information technology team due to the central location of the server while
reducing the number of nodes or users that can access the ‘one ' server. While the scale–out system
will require a more robust information technology team spread throughout the corporation to service
the various servers. Once this decision is made this will be the architecture that the system will be
based on. The server or servers is the most significant change in our present architecture that will be
required. The business intelligence software is capable of running on multiple operating systems
(Linux, UNIX, Windows NT) dependent on the system that is chosen. The business intelligence
software is capable of running on the present computer stations throughout our corporation. The
software will require loading to individual computer stations then they will be added to the network
once the system is brought online.
I have researched three of the industries leaders; IBM, Microsoft, and Oracle. They continue to
capture the market share in this ever–changing environment. Even though IBM continues to state
there ability to down size their product to meet medium and small businesses they continue to use

Erp Systems : An Abbreviation Of The Word Enterprise...
Introduction ERP is an abbreviation of the word Enterprise Resource Planning; this is a software
designed to offer assistance in business management. It a collection of integrated applications used
by a company to collect, manage, store, and interpret business data sourced from different business
activities carried out by our company. These business activities include data collected from service
delivery or product planning. This software is designed to allow flexibility that helps in quick
decision making and business management. ERP systems are integrated software packages, meaning
they are built to cover all functions in a business setup (Gefen & Ragowsky, 2005). Since their
creation and implementation, a vast majority of the ERP has been implemented on various business
institutions and companies across the world. Traditional ERP systems provide the user with various
merits; among them, a wide customization and integration of the system and mature functionality of
the system. Due to the shift in the information technology industry where majorities of support
software are using cloud computing also, the ERP software has changed its cause, taking the new
and modern trend that with it, come diverse benefits. As identified by Lenart (2011), ERP systems
are grouped into two major categories which are traditional ERP systems and Cloud based ERP
systems. The traditional ERP systems where divided into small units depending on the function of

These sales trends can be sorted by geographical regions, industry specific or by an individual
customer. The query selection of this type of data would only be restricted by imagination of the
staff. Accounting/finance data will also be captured within this database linking accounting/finance
information directly to customer data. This will allow management to pull information from sales,
inventory, billing and total revenue. The data is endless; the true challenge comes from pulling
information that will allow us to make decisions that lead to our strategic goals of larger market
shares. I have discussed what most management would consider the backbone of business
intelligence software, data management that allows us to run queries and report the queries for
managing and production purposes. Information delivery is also a capability that comes from
business intelligence software, information delivery can come in the form of emails that are
programmed to deliver specified queries on a given day of the week or month or even daily. These
same queries can be web based allowing associates to access pertinent information anywhere in the
world they might be with internet access. Obviously this type of access brings up security issues, but
all of the platforms that I have researched come with a very robust security program.

Making Management Decision About Sarbanes Oxley

  • 1. Making Management Decision About Sarbanes Oxley Trinity decided to take the bottom up approach when making management decision about Sarbanes– Oxley in 2003 in order to capture all of the business unit costs and internal measures to ensure that everything flows upward to the management financial reporting system for the company. The bottom–up approach is described as: "The process put forth here begins with exploration and development of personal codes of conduct that influence workers' relationships to their job functions. Next, formal groupings of employees come together to negotiate moral ideals that they would hold each other accountable for and that drive combined efforts for professional success. The subsequent task includes cross–group discussion and cooperation that further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Control deficiencies, or even significant deficiencies in control, are not publicly disclosed. Rather, Section 404(b) of SOX requires only the public disclosure of material weaknesses in internal control over financial reporting. The distinction between control deficiencies, significant deficiencies and material weaknesses in internal control is made in Auditing Standard (AS) Number 5 ( PCAOB, 2007), which requires the external auditor to evaluate the severity of each control deficiency to determine whether the deficiencies, individually or in combination, are deemed to be material." (Clinton, Pinella ,& Skaife, 2014). When it comes to top–down versus bottom–up approach, Trinity used a top–down approach with Mr. Collum leading the project on compliance. He and his steering committee laid out all of the factors for sox compliance and internal controls. A bottom–up approach would have started from manufacturing line of the business. Bottom–up has material risks but can easily be identified and corrected compared to top–down where it can stall an investigation into the risk. This would also improve the financial reporting for Trinity. Trinity should adapt the EDP system for it operation. An EDP system is an electronic data processing system that stores it data in one ... • 12. Microsoft E Business Suite ( Ebs ) Upgrade Possibly the most comprehensive change to the daily operations will be the Oracle E–business suite (EBS) upgrade. This IS will provide many solutions to the operations and maintenance managers by providing total operational oversight at the click of a button. EBS enables users to oversee projects, asset milestones and budgets, and staff projects. It also has a quick report generator for business meetings and scheduling. Another feature that will be highly beneficial is the ability for EBS to integrate and enhance existing programs. It will streamline financials, enhance supply chain management, and fulfill human capital management requirements. Utilizing the asset lifecycle management tool within EBS will enhance financial management of our aircraft and equipment items. It will also calculate the most efficient way to make payments on the aircraft that will maximize the use of our funds and free up income that can be used elsewhere within the budget. Many of the equipment items will require calibration from testing measurements and diagnostics equipment (TMDE) laboratories, which require scheduling and shipping coordination. For this task, the value chain execution tool would be perfect. It will line up and track the schedule of TMDE items that require calibration; once the items come due shipping will be coordinated automatically. People work as entities and they are a part of the organization. The work of Porter is significant in the emphasis of the business process. He says value chain is a comprehensive collection of all the activities that are performed to design, produce, and market, deliver, and support a product line (Porter, 1985). When we combine the concept of the value chain and system to the organization we understand that organizations span across functional departments like finance, marketing, sales, and support etc. Organizations implementing BPM Systems One of the influential factors on implementation success that emerges from research, trade literature and practice is the level of process orientation within an organization. Marketing can be defined as a managerial and social process whereby groups and individuals obtain what they need or desire through the creation of a product, offering it and exchanging the product of value with others. Some of the marketing concepts include needs, wants, and demand; products; cost, value, and satisfaction; transactions and exchanges; networks and relationships; markets; marketers and prospects. A need is a state by which basic satisfaction is deprived. A need is usually a biological concept that is not created by the marketer. An example of a want is when an individual is in need of food; he would want the food to be prepared in a particular way and would want the food to be fish or chicken. Demand, on the other hand, is a want of a particular product backed by the ability as well as willingness to buy the product. A product can be defined as goods and services that bring forth the satisfaction to human needs, wants and value. Cost satisfaction, on the other hand, is defined as the consumer estimates and the capacity of the product to satisfy another need. Many companies still suffer from "multiple versions of the truth" – incorrect and inconsistent information across the business. For example, if the accounting department and the contact center access two different databases which aren't integrated, a customer with a billing question will likely get an inaccurate answer if they call the contact center for assistance. These problems, although they may appear small on the surface, can add up, leading to bigger customer satisfaction and retention issues that can negatively impact revenues and market share. * In today's dynamic and highly competitive marketplace, it can seriously hinder productivity, profitability, and growth. The primary reason an ERP solution is so vital to a company's success is efficiency. Cumbersome, error–prone, labor–intensive manual processes can drain both time and money.
