The good thing about films is that we not only have the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of different genres, but also compare them and
understand their purpose in the world. The Horror genre has used the basic principles throughout time, and as a result, films of this type have not
proven to be as timeless as another genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy. At first, these two genres might at times seem similar as they have at several
occasions been blended together, but their basic, common theme serves different meanings about humans. I shall compare and contrast these two
genres and focus on both classic films and modern films. From the Horror genre perspective I shall discuss Psycho (1960) and The Mist (2007), while
in the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre I will examine 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Pan's Labyrinth (2006), and Serenity (2005). Although the Science
Fiction/Fantasy genre and the Horror Genre share some similarities, the differences lie in their focus on human progress.

One important change from traditional western is the cold, the film is set in winter in a cold climate and Beatty goes around bundled up like a

Invasion of the Body Snatchers is widely dubbed an anti–Communist film by those who have seen it. The plot of the movie is that unfamiliar,
extraterrestrial "body snatchers" are taking over the bodies of people in a small town in California while they sleep, and replacing them with clones
that lack emotion. For the most part, a general consensus has been reached that the mass hysteria about the "pod people" in the film is reflective of the
red–scare consumed society of the 1950's. However, the article that I read that was written in response to this film suggests that it is instead a cynical
representation of post–WWII, traditional American domesticity.
The article that I read that was pertaining to Don Siegel's 1956 adaptation of Invasion of the Body Snatchers is called "Lovelier the Second Time
Around: Divorce, Desire, and Gothic Domesticity in Invasion of the Body Snatchers", written by Jennifer L. Jenkins. Jenkins suggests that rather than
being a science fiction film that has an anti–Communism message, Invasion of the Body Snatchers is actually a Gothic narrative that presents

an area of inaccuracy. There are storms on mars, but the strength of them would be much less significant. Mars has no atmosphere so the winds
would not be able to knock over the ship [1]. Though the storms may be dangerous to humans due to flying debris, such a large ship would not be
so affected. The debris would not be as dangerous as shown. Even the strongest winds, up to 60 mph, on mars would have trouble keeping the
astronauts from moving around, and would have a tough time picking up anything even remotely tied down [1]. The chance of debris knocking
someone back and impaling them like what happened to Mark Watney would be very unlikely. The way habitation of Mars is portrayed is a mixed
bag of accuracy. The gravity on Mars is 30% that of the earth, yet Watney moves around like any earthling [2]. This makes the movie easier to film,
and if they had attempted to portray the gravity accurately, there would have been inaccuracies anyway.
Radiation seems to be ignored almost completely besides for the device he uses to heat his rover. Being on mars for extended periods of time
would increase the chances of cancer. NASA only allows 200 rem per year [4], which Watney would almost certainly exceed being on a planet with
no atmosphere to protect from the Sun's radiation. This was probably left out as it would likely not have immediate effects on Watney but it's still a
big concern for real astronauts. Communication was portrayed fairly accurately. The movie says the communication speed is 30 minutes there and
back. Since mars is 54.6 million miles away, data traveling at the speed of light would take 3 minutes to get there [2]. Once data processing,
inaccuracy, and other factors are accounted for, 30 minutes is realistic.

Looking first at Star Trek, the main female character throughout the movie is Nyota Uhura. She is only seen in few scenes in the exposition of the

The plot in the film Snowpiercer, directed by Bong Joon Ho, follows lead actor Chris Evans, who stated in reference to the film, "I absolutely think it
should be seen on a big screen. But I read something where someone from RADiUS that said, 'A screen is a screen is a screen (Daniels).'" This quote
is significant because it relates to the current expansion of entertainment delivery systems in the world. Nonetheless, Snowpiercer is a film that was
directed for the cinema screen. When it was released in 2013, the film made approximately eighty–seven billion dollars internationally, and it was
considered one of the first films of the year in the competition for an Oscar (Pomerantz). Furthermore, this film was produced by SnowPiercer,
Moho Film, Opus Pictures, Stillking Films, and CJ Entertainment ("Snowpiercer"). In terms of the story, the setting of Snowpiercer is 2031where
the entire earth is frozen except for a train and its survivors. The train is divided into a class system where the poor are at the back of the train, and
the wealthy are at the front. With this to say, the poor are treated appallingly, forced to live in cramped and dirty spaces, and are given scarce
supplies of food. Thus, the story follows Curtis, led by actor Chris Evans, as he devises a revolt from the back of the train to fight through the enemies

The true bizarreness of the film is shown in Max's insane hallucinations. The camera focuses in on Max's right thumb twitching and shaking until his
whole body is overcome by a massive migraine.
Throughout the film, Max is plagued by these headaches, each beginning with a camera close–up of his twitching thumb. The dramatic effect is
intensified by a mess of techno, chaotic–sounding music until suddenly there is silence signaling the end of Max's pain and the beginning of his
strange hallucinations. The ordeal is always ended by a flash of light, identical to the one he saw after his first headache at the origin of his genius.
He narrates of his first headache at the age of six, caused by staring into the sun, leaving him blind for several days. When the bandages finally came
off, he saw a bright light, which signified him being taken into a new state of understanding. . This incident gave Max his special ability to understand
mathematics and his amazing grasp of the number theory. The movie contains several bits of narration like this by the main character, intended to give
the viewer a feeling of probing into the very mind and thoughts of Max. The bizarre hallucinations seem to be a device to show the abyss of madness
