11. Highlights of the Business Meeting
1. Updates of Past Activities
a) Dr. Masangkay and Dr. Collado shared their experience during the awarding of the
Outstanding NU alumnus award to Dr. Masangkay by NUAL.Three out of 32
nominees received this award.
b) Dr. Collado reported that NU and UPLB signed a MOA establishing a satellite
Campus of NU for Graduate Programs on Bio-Agricultural Science and International
Development last Dec. 3, 2015.The formal launching of the NU Satellite Campus is
scheduled on March 8, 2016.The NUAL-PH members will be invited.
c) Dr. Gaspillo and Dr. Oreta reported that DLSU GCOE and NU Graduate Schools of
Engineering and Environmental Science signed an Agreement for Academic
Exchange and Cooperation and a Student Exchange Memorandum last Dec. 14, 2015
at Nagoya University.
2. By-Laws
a) Dr. Saloma presented the revised and proposed By-Laws of NUAL-Philippines. Some
revisions were introduced.
b) The By-Laws was approved and ratified by the present members of NUAL –
Philippines.

3. Plans
a) There is a proposal to hold NUAL-PH activity in theVisayas so that the alumni from
theVisayas and Mindanao can be involved in the NUAL acitivities.The proposed
location is Cebu City. Dr. Resty will contact an alumnus at Cebu (Dr. Weena Gera, UP
Cebu) to be the coordinator of the proposed activity.Tentative date is July 7-8, 2016.
b) Another proposed venue isVisayas State University where Dr. EdgarTulin, NU
alumnus will be inaugurated as the President of the University this year.
c) The NU Promotion organized by Dr. Joyce Cartagena of NU will be supported by
NUAL-PH members. Dr. Oreta with Dr. RonVilog have already arrange the plans on
Feb 23 at DLSU. Dr. Collado will contact UPLB alumni to organize the Feb. 24
promotion.
d) The NUAL-PH membership must be expanded.The suggestions are tap the network
of various groups like the GSID alumni and NUGELP alumni. Robert Acosta was
tasked to contact the GSID network.
e) Dr. Collado proposed that NUAL-PHGeneral Assembly and Elections should be held
on the last Saturday of November 2016 which is November 26, 2016.
f) The next NewYear’s General Assembly andTurn-over Meeting will be scheduled on
the third week of February 2017.
