Building Positive Relationships
Introduction In today's world, creating positive relationships can get you a long way in life. Whether that's knowing someone that can help you get a
job or getting into a good college. Breaking positive relationships can leave you with no one by your side when you are in need for help.
"Relationships are built on integrity" (Ellis, 2014, p.109). So when you break a promise with your boyfriend your relationship may be strained (Ellis,
2014, p.109). Building positive relationships are not easy for most people. I am one of these people because I am not really a people person. I don't feel
comfortable talking to people if I don't know them that well. This is one thing I need to work on to be successful in my future.
Information
Powerful speaking is one good way to keep agreements or relationships. Think of this exercise as each level as one rung on a ladder (Ellis, 2014,
p.109). The lowest rung on the ladder is obligation which means we feel passive and helpless to change anything (Ellis, 2014, p.109). For example,
words that are used during this level may include I should, he out to, someone better, they need to, I must, and I had to (Ellis, 2104, p.109). "Note:
When we move to the next rung, we leave behind obligation and advance to self–responsibility" (Ellis, 2014, p.109). This also occurs for the rest of the
rungs. The next rung is possibility which means we examine new options at this level (Ellis, 2014, p.109). Phrases you might hear at this level is I

Boundaries In Relationships
The Importance of Setting Boundaries in Your Relationship
When we're feeling completely drained, tired, stressed, and exhausted all the time, many of us don't realize that this is caused by not setting boundaries
in our relationships and our lives. When we leave ourselves too vulnerable to our partner, the result can be feeling unseen, under–appreciated, and
unsupported. There are several reasons why setting boundaries is vitally important for your personal wellbeing, and even the well–being of your
partner. We're going to discuss just a few of these reasons here, while also providing tips for how you can begin to set boundaries today.
One of the primary reasons why you need to find your own personal borders is that it is necessary for creating a sense of self. If you don't have
boundaries there is a very good chance that you don't have a solid sense of who you are as an individual. Perhaps you take on the thoughts of your
partner, you embody their feelings, ideas, values, and beliefs, as if they were your own. The term 'enmeshment' is used to describe this phenomenon,
and when you've been in a relationship for quite some time, you may not even know that it's happening. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some will want you to believe that this is the very nature of love, but that couldn't be further from the truth. When enmeshment occurs, one or both
people in the relationship will have a hard time identifying their own unique experience of life, and how that is different from their partner. This is
very common for women; closely aligning themselves with the beliefs and worldview of their partner, and believing these to be their

Relationships
A relationship is the way in which two or more people, groups, "countries, talk to, behave toward, and deal with each other or the way in which two or
more people or things are connected" (Merriam–Webster, 2015). Relationships are a very important thing in our lives, be it professional or just social
you must maintain them and learn how to work with people. The relationships formed at university are no different, they can help you either succeed
or fail in life. so of course there is a major role that they play in a persons in life. One is affected depending on how good or bad the relationship is. Yes,
most of the time the relationships formed are good one, but what if it's a bad one?
There are many types of relationships that people at university can have. From a favourite student–teacher relationship to a relationship between
students or a student and a member of faculty to a life–related relationship with a lecture hall–cleaner and so on. These kinds of relationships has
affected people in both positive and negative ways.

The same concept applies to students. In order for students to be able to pay attention and get interest in a class, they should be able to have a good

more constructive guidance and praise rather than just criticism from her teacher. The student is likely to trust the teacher more, show more
engagement in learning, behave better in class and achieve at higher levels academically. Positive teacher–student relationships draw students into the
process of learning and promote their desire to learn", (Rimm–Kaufman & Sandilos, 2016) which is going to broaden your mind and make you more

Technology's Impact on Relationships
New technology can ruin relationships completely if people lack communication skills. Why would someone want to get to know someone without
being face to face? What would they talk about when they are together? The relationship would become dull and boring; there is no way to avoid that.
Communication is key; being able to use body language and tones in your voice so people won't get the wrong idea is impossible over the Internet.
Everyone has been in a situation when texting someone, and he or she says something that comes off offensive, and you are completely put off, and
feel like you are put in an awkward situation. That rarely happens when you're able to read people face to face .
Long distance relationships can be very successful using technology if people take advantage of the newer video chatting. My boyfriend lives in
Mississippi, and I live here in Texas, but we see each other at least once a day or more. It's like he isn't in another state most of the time. Communication
is key; if a relationship has no real communication then what is it? We started dating in high school when we could see each other as much as we
wished; but then he left for Ole Miss. I was scared at first that this long distance would ruin us, but I couldn't have been more wrong. New
technology, such as FaceTime, and Skype has been very beneficial to our long distance relationship. He calls me on Skype/FaceTime every night, and
we work on homework together, and just like if he was here with

Essay on Failed Relationships
We live our lives waiting for who we think is the perfect person, but in reality that never happens. When we hear the word relationship, we think of a
man and a woman. Being in a relationship is more than just being intimate. There are different kinds of relationship such as husbands and wives,
parent and child, or just friend to friend. Some people say it takes two people to make a relationship fail. When two people meet, they usually know
from the begining if they want to be with that person or if they want to pursue a relationship.
When a relationship fails, it is because one or both parties involved gives up. Giving up on a relationship is always hard because it means someone's
feelings are going to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people cheat with the hope of never being caught. Another reason why relationships fail are because of children, some people having children
will help in reality it only makes worse. On the other hand, if a person may bring their child or children into the relationship, and the child and the other
partner does not get along that usually cause a big problem.
Communication is the number one key to a good relationship. When there is no communication between both parties involved in the relationship, that
is when the relationship fails whether it is a man and a woman, or a child trying to divorce his/her parents or friends cutting their ties forever.
When couples realize their relationship is starting to fail, they will try different things such as marriage counseling. That is when the couple will sit
down with a therapist and they will try to work their problems out. Sometimes therapy can help the couples work their issues out and get to the root
of their problems. Another solution is a vacation or a second honeymoon where they can reconcile or rekindle the relationship that they use to have.
Or even as far as moving away to get a new start on life, to try to get away from the old way of how things use to be and try to start a new life together
again.
In a relationship, we have to know what we can, and cannot live without. Being in a relationship means nothing, no one is perfect and in a relationship,

Examples Of Dysfunctional Relationships
Dysfunctional People in Relationships
Have you ever wondered why some people stay in a dysfunctional relationship? Dysfunctional relationships are relationships that do not perform their
appropriate function. In "The Yellow Wallpaper," The narrator is a doctor who although probably filled with good intentions, comes off seeming
domineering. The narrator and her husband move into a manor for the summer to help her with her "temporary nervous depression – a slight hysterical
tendency." Female patients were not to listened to by male patients, but because back then women were not in positions of power. The two main
reasons why their relationship is dysfunctional is the way John treats the narrator and the fact that she has postpartum depression so she is not herself.
The medical world has changed a lot since back then. For instance, there were no female doctors at that time. In the 1800's, much was unknown in
the terms of health. The mortality rate was high and life expectancy was low. Parents, rich or poor, had no way of combating the deadly diseases and
infections that often took their children's lives. Deadly outbreaks of cholera ( an infection in the small intestine) to the flu were, understandably, a
leading cause of death in children at the time. After all, children's immune systems are not fully developed and are therefore weaker in the terms of
fighting off these fatal diseases. Medicine has advanced dramatically from the 1800's to the present.Today, although not all children are healthy if any,
foods available to them, the overall diet of children has improved. Also, with what is known
about diseases and transmission, many deadly diseases are under control. Luckily, today it is much more common for people also have regular
checkups with the doctor, from the time they are in the womb through adulthood.
One reason why John and the narrator's relationship is dysfunctional is that John treats the narrator like a child. The relationship between the narrator
and John is not overly loving, but unlike many people, I do not believe that John was intentionally trying to hurt her. John cares about his wife, he just
refuses to admit that his own prescribed treatment may, in fact, be the wrong treatment. John

Relationships And Relationships : Friendships And Intimate...
Friendships and Intimate Relationships Describe how the five factors of personal attraction affect friendships and intimate relationships. The five
factors that predict interpersonal relationships are: proximity, familiarity, similarity, physical appearance, and reciprocity. Proximity refers to the
geographical location of persons. People are more likely to initiate, engage, or maintain relationships if someone's geographical location is near or
convenient to the person they are to pursue. Relationships, whether romantic or platonic, are not as likely to be initiated if the proximity does not
allow individuals to cross paths or maintain a certain level of communication. As well, familiarity plays an important role in the fostering of
relationships. People are said to have an increased attraction and fondness for individuals that they see more often than those they do not. In lay
terms, similarity can be summed up by saying that people enjoy the presence of those like (or similar) to them. Individuals are more often drawn to
and feel less intimidated by others that share their culture and belief systems; thus, are more likely to form relationships with them. Next, is physical
attractiveness; which can be defined in two different ways. First off, people tend to believe that beautiful things equal good things and are more likely
to seek out relationships with individuals they find beautiful. However, people are also likely to form relationships with people they believe to be on

Instrumental Relationships And Adolescent Relationships
The variety of films for this class portray youth culture and the array of experiences and influences that affect adolescents in their transition from
childhood to adulthood. One of the central issues found in the films is the idea of status relations. Status is among the most important and controversial
aspects of adolescence, and youth often interact with each other in unique, specific ways to maintain it. This paper will explore instrumental versus
expressive relationships and status relations in high school in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Dazed and Confused. While Heckerling's film portrays
a variety of expressive relationships, Dazed and Confused exhibits many instrumental relationships – both of which affect status relations in high
schools in different ways. While expressive relationships discourage status relations, instrumental relationships encourage them. To begin, status is one
of if not the most prevalent issue among adolescents in the high school setting. It is difficult to break down status into each of its many components,
but the root of it all lies in the relationships formed and held by youth. The two defining types of adolescent relationships are instrumental and
expressive relationships. In his 2016 book, Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids, Milner explains that "Instrumental relationships are formed for some
specific purpose or goal; expressive relations are those that have no specific purpose but focus on companionship" (Milner, 2016). It is obvious that

I was writing about relationships, dating, and stuff like that for a while and what I found most of the time was nothing but questions regarding
relationship mistakes. I have seen most of the people asking about what are the mistakes that we should avoid while in a relationship, how the
beginning of a relationship should be, and is there any relationship compatibility type of thing or not? Keeping most of the queries and questions in
mind, I have collected some of the best factors to look upon when there is a beginning of a relationship happening, relationship compatibility between
two persons, and the relationship mistakes that most of us do which ruin our relationships at an instant.

Relationship Between Long Distance Relationships
Despite the fact that relationships can be troubling, stressful, and even deadly, most of us are aware that we need relationships with others and that
the quality of our lives depends on those relationships whether it is from friends or romantic partners. With the development of technology the
evolution of long distance dating relationships are transforming. Long distance relationships used to primarily consist of handwritten letters with the
occasional phone call in between. However, progression and advancements in technology have led to numerous means of new communication. The
Internet created a new and unexpected dynamic in the realm of romantic and long distance dating relationships. It is popularly believed that people
who are deeply in love spend a great deal of time simply looking at each other. Being able to look at each other implies that the couple is in close
proximity of each other to perform this task of developing intimacy. Couples in long distance relationships do not have this luxury of being in close
proximity of their loved one for weeks, months, and in some cases even years apart from each other. Because satisfying close relationships are
associated with happiness, it is not surprising that their absence in this case long distance relationships can sometimes be associated with unhappiness
and psychological state of loneliness. Being part of a long distance relationship can cause an individual to endure a lot of stress from events in the

What Is A Relationship Essay
Relationships bring so much joy to people's lives. Whether it's a friendship, family relationships, or marriage/dating, it brings two people together.
Sometimes relationships get hard and go through some "rough patches" and lead to negative consequences. I personally can see in other relationships,
and in my own past and present these issues cause many to question their own. Some compare their relationships to ones they see in movies, on social
media, or celebrities they look up to. It's a dire need to be perfect, and want nothing but happiness and no fighting, and that's what many want and try to
succeed this based on what they see. The issue in relationships are common and can eventually lead to some heavy consequences. Being in a
relationship means a lot of different things to anyone I could ask. There is a lot of different traits that make up a relationship, and each person can
interpret it in their own way, which could lead to problems as well. Relationships are a huge part of life, and knowing how to "work" with them, and

I can relate to this character when he talks about cleaning up before the girl he liked came over. When someone I care about or am dating comes

really do it to impress the person themselves, but I do it to make a good first impression. As time goes on and I get to know the person, I still clean,
but not as much as I did in the beginning. I just think it's important to make a good first impression no matter who it is. I wouldn't want my new

are all different people evolving daily. Majority of the issues and joys of life revolves around people and relationships. Our relationships have a
major affect on our quality of life; therefore, we should be selective and cautious about whom we choose to be a part of our inner circle. We need

Love never fails..."
As you can see, this type of love is unselfish. It cares about the feelings of others despite how they may act toward us. We must remember that we are
all flawed, imperfect, and blemished in one way or another. This is why unconditional love is a necessity. The closer we get to God, the more
Christ–like we become and as a result, we're able to maintain better relationships. I've discovered that our dealings with other people are a direct
reflection of our relationship with God.
For example, if you are a selfish person and your relationships are all about you, this tells me that you only seek God for what He can do for you.
You're not concerned about what services you can provide for the Kingdom of God. Let's take a look at another example of how your relationship
with other people directly reflects your relationship with God. Let's say you're a person that's always right and never wrong in your dealings with
others. You refuse to maintain a teachable spirit and you always have all the right answers, so you think. This is a humility issue, and it suggests that
you only seek God when you've exhausted all of your other possibilities, instead of initially seeking and depending on Him for leadership and guidance.
A person that believes they're never wrong, can do no wrong, and have all the answers to life's problems, is a person with a haughty attitude. This
prideful mindset will definitely spill over into

Relationship Between A Parent And Child Relationship
Throughout history human behavior has held a continuing fascination for artists of all kinds. The way in which human beings relate to one another has
been a source of inspiration to painters, sculptors, authors, composers, playwrights, filmmakers and photographers alike.
Relationships between people vary from the everyday dynamics and the significance in which they value one another and each connection between
those relationships makes a different impact on the one of someone else. There are many relationships people form throughout their lives, for instance
the primary relationships at the start of their lives, between parent and child, and siblings, which start in the home. A relationship between a parent and
child has a special unspoken bond in which they share indescribable love, never ending care and affection for each other, as the parent is the only
depended and reliable thing they have. A good parent and child relationship can teach a child how to form other bonds with mutual respect and
admiration, such as friendships further on in life. As people grow and develop, they form secondary connections such as friendships and intimate
relationships.
Friendships are predominantly built on trust, even as young children. Interaction with peers helps to strengthen character and introduces a sense of
belonging with others rather than family. Children are naturally trusting, which means they form bonds with one another instinctively. As they get older

The Darkness of Relationships
Relationships are the foundation of everything in this world, especially in literature. If there is no relationship present, there is essentially no story; in
the short story A Temporary Matter by Jhumpa Lahiri the entire story focuses on the married immigrants, Shoba and Shukumar, and their relationship.
Unfortunately, their relationship is an example of something that is commonly seen in many North American relationships. Lahiri clearly depicts them
as an unhappy couple that possesses a deeply flawed marriage, and are only able to connect through negativity, irritation, and grief. This text clearly
portrays an intensely damaged relationship and shows the ways in which a relationship can quickly fall apart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On page 13 it states, "'Okay,' he said, remembering. 'The first time we went out to dinner, to the Portuguese place, I forgot to tip the waiter. I went back
the next morning, found out his name, left money with the manager.'" (Lahiri 13) This scene is the first night of their power being out, and Shukumar's
first "confession" to Shoba. It is about the memory of the first time they went out for dinner together, which is a happy memory for both of them. It
is also a humorous confession because it is about something so simple and innocent. He finishes this confession in an adoring way, Shoba asks,
"Why did you forget to tip the waiter?" (Lahiri 14) and he replies with, "By the end of the meal I had a funny feeling I might marry you." (Lahiri 14)
This shows how the use of memory brings a couple closer together and allows them to feel a similar feeling that they might have felt when they were
first meeting. This is often referred to as the "honeymoon phase" of their relationship, meaning they are happy and the relationship is still within its
innocent state. They have little to no problems between the two of them because they have known each other for such a short time. They are just
beginning to fall in love, and these types of joyful memories are the kind that people love to hold onto because of all the wonderful feelings they get
from them. As the nights go on, the confessions begin to change from these blissful, innocent

Relationship Between Platonic And Romantic Relationships
The transition from childhood to emerging adulthood consists of a unique and distinctive period in an individual's life regarding their network of
platonic and romantic relationships. Extra–familial relationships become more central in an individual's social world; thus, an individual's capacity for
intimate relationships begins to develop with both friends and romantic partners (Allen & Land, 1999). Simultaneously, a romantic partner quickly
becomes the focus in one's relationship hierarchy (Collins & van Dulmen, 20006). Each emerging adult's relationship quality as well as their attachment

Previous studies have indicated that sexual intimacy, or lack thereof, can be a source of instability or dissatisfaction in relationships. Romantic
relationship instability is a common problem in western civilization as evidenced by recent divorce rates across the nation (Ceners for Disease
Control and Prevention [CDC], 2012). Currently, the United States has the highest divorce rate of any Western Nation, with a divorce rate of 6.8 per
1,000 individuals in 2012 (CDC, 2012). Approximately one–half of all first marriages end in dissolution in the United States, and even higher rates of
divorce are present for second marriages (Broman, 2002). Additionally, those who cohabitate and are not married are more likely to separate than those
who are married (Kiernan, 200). However, rates of divorce tend to underestimate the problem relating to relationship distress and dissatisfaction given
that some couples choose to remain in their relationships even when they perceive their relationship to be of poor satisfaction and/or stability (Karney

Relationship Between Relationships And Relationships
Friendships and Intimate Relationships In friendship and intimate relationships there are two types and they are known as exchange and
communal. The definition of exchange relationships are best described as "you wash my hands and I will wash yours". Whereas in communal
relationships they are characterized when responding to another needs or wellbeing over a period of time and do not require repayment for what
they have done. There are different kinds of friendships and they are personal, professional, emotional, and intellectual. In this paper I will try and
shed some light on the variety of them. According to Webster's dictionary, friendship is defined as people whom one knows well and is quite fond
of them. In friendship you can have several types of relations and emotions for that person. It is fairly easy to have relationships with people at
work, but personal relationships are people that you grow up with, such as family, neighbors, and school friends. Whereas, professional friendship,
are individuals that you meet at various facilities who know a few facts about your career or even a small part about your life. In most of our lives
it is a natural occurrence to have friends, and they mean a lot to some of us. When you have a good friendship with someone it makes an everlasting
impact. An attachment pattern is established fairly early in childhood and continues to act as a guide in adulthood. In order for a relationship to really

Do consumers have a connection with their shampoo brand? To find out, we interviewed four individuals on their choices, associations, and purchasing

Our first recommendation is the "Point System", although consumers tend to buy the same shampoo brand for many years, they are still price sensitive
and eager to make use of any potential offers or discounts. We therefore suggest that shampoo marketers respond to this price sensitivity by offering
discounts to repeat users. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is "Brand Ambassadors", in our interviews we found that our
subjects have been using the same brand for years and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group
e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these two points by using brand ambassadors.
Conclusion Through our interviews we aimed to understand the consumer–product relationship between individuals and their shampoo brand. As a
group we were surprised by the level of brand loyalty individuals have towards their shampoo. A successful marketing campaign should therefore not
only take into account the consumer decision making process but also the consumer–product relationship. As it is through exploiting and analyzing this
relationship that marketers can capture new customers and retain old customers. Marketing managers should not underestimate the power of the
consumer–product relationship even for something as mundane and seemingly unimportant as

The Common Romantic Relationship Relationships
Most of the adults in this world are involved in a romantic relationship or will be eventually. The most common romantic relationship includes the
sexual dating relationship, the domestic partnership, and the marriage. The adults or partners involved in these relationships inevitably reach a point of
conflict and how they react to the conflict can show whether the partners are a securely, avoidant, or anxious attached person. The securely attached
adults usually have a positive view when dealing with relationship issues. Whereas, an avoidant attached adults are more hesitant and distance
themselves from their partner. Adults who tend to be more emotional, jealous, and possessive and demand closeness have an anxious attachment.
People should strive for the secure attachment style for the best satisfaction level, commitment level, and ability to adapt to change in their romantic
relationship, that is what most of the adults have and most want their partner to be the same. Many theorist noticed that there tended to be a pattern
with the attachment styles that people have as adults to what attachment style they had as children. John Bowlby designed the Attachment Theory to
explain the bond between a child and people serving in the caregiver role (Feldman, 2011). In 1987, Cindy Hazan and Philip Shaver applied Bowlby's
views on attachment to include the bonds between adults and their romantic partners (Nudson–martin, 2012). Hazan and Shaver viewed attachment in

Romantic Relationship And Romantic Relationships
Multitude of studies have measured aspects that impact people's relationship with others. A common trend in these studies is researching effects that
impact romantic relationships, though few analyze conditions that may impact an individual's desired age to be married. This study presents evidence
found in Stern (2011), Robertson et al. (2014), and McCullough et al. (2012) to further expand on certain aspects that affect an individual's desired age
to be married. Stern (2011) explored a correlation between family attitudes and their effect on adult relationships. Stern (2011) surveyed 433 volunteers
and had them describe their relationships with a predetermined list of adjectives. Romantic relationship was measured in two distinct manners:
attachment style and quality (Stern, 2011). It was found that sibling relationships did affect romantic relationships. The difference of this study from

Relationship And Nurse Patient Relationship
Series of interaction amongst nurse–patient and researcher–participant stresses the importance of relationship in an interpersonal process. The
nurse–patient and researcher–participant are characterized by their own professional relationship including their own unique features in accomplishing
goals. In this paper, I will examine their differences and similarities within the context of interrelationship.
A nurse–patient relationship is the basic requirements in all practice settings. Its usage is to manage communication between an organization and a
public while maintaining boundaries in the therapeutic relationship. Based on Peplau's interpersonal theory, communication takes place in a
nurse–client relationship where therapeutic process occurs involving complex factors such as environment, attitudes, practices, and beliefs in the
dominant culture (seu.edu, 2015). The actions of each person in a nurse–patient relationship is measured on the collaboration of their thoughts,
feelings, and experiences. Nurse's work to attain, maintain, and restore the patient's health until patient have fulfilled the health care needs. Patient
must be guided and provided a well–respected environment until a better health and specific needs are fully considered in the relationship. In this kind
of setting, nurse's must create relationship with patients by communicating receptivity, assimilating the concepts of empathy, trust, genuineness,
respect, and confidentiality into their interactions.

avoid them increases the chances of survival of a relationship.
Dating and Relationship Traps

This happens when one the partner's feels that they need to make themselves more appealing so as to attract or to be attractive enough to their desired

eventually leads to failure in relationships due to the temptation of settling for less than what one deserves.

The Therapeutic Relationship And Interpersonal Relationships
It appears that for Jack, a major issue in both the therapeutic relationship and his interpersonal relationships is his tendency to utilize splitting based
defense/coping mechanisms. When the interactions between Jack and Al and Jack and his therapist are mentioned, it is apparent that Jack tends to
split. He feels that Al is completely against him and out to take advantage of him. He is also unable to consider things from Al's point of view in order
to better understand the reality of the situation. Another instance of this splitting behavior is noted when Jack accuses the therapist of stringing him
along simply for more money and considers him on Al's "side". In fact the therapist noted that Jack believed that he was either completely on his side or
completely against him. Furthermore in his interactions with his therapist, Jack seems to project his emotions and feelings outward. Although it was
clear that Jack was the angry one, he accused the therapist of being angry with him. (Defense mechanism notes, and pg 280) Related to his habit of
utilizing splitting based defense mechanism, is Jack's faulty assumptions and errors in thinking. From the information provided, it appears that he tends
to rely on all–or–nothing concepts, specifically in his relationship to his mother. He recalled that he felt as though he needed to whatever his mother
wanted him to otherwise he would become a disappointment to her. Furthermore, he erroneously believes that other people must treat him

Relationships require nurturing. They need attention and communication. If you don't nurture your relationships, they will die. You may not be as
close as you once were or you may just lose the person altogether. This is true in romantic relationships, friendships, or family relationships. So, it's
important to want to work on nurturing those relationships that mean something to you. Following are some affirmations that you can repeat daily to
develop the belief that you need to put attention into your relationships.

People will help you spread a positive message when they respect you. And you don't even need to be really close with them. You just need to be
someone they talk to occasionally or someone they follow on a blog or vlog. When they respect you, they will get behind your campaigns, participate
in your movements, and share your ideas with others. This is a huge reason to nurture your relationships with followers online and people in real life.
5. I Enjoy Feeling Connected To Other People
If you don't nurture your relationships and you end up losing them, things can get pretty lonely. But, you don't have to lose relationships to feel lonely.
Being in a relationship that isn't very strong can feel lonely too. When you can't share and communicate with someone, or when you can't enjoy
yourself or be yourself with someone, it feels just as lonely as not having someone in your life.
This is why you need to nurture your relationships. It will help you feel more connected to the people in your life and less lonely. That will boost your
self–confidence, satisfaction, and happiness.

Relationship Patterns In Extraordinary Relationships
Chapters 7 and 8 in Extraordinary Relationships gave a good introduction into new concepts relating to Human Interactions and Relationships. These
new concepts give a better idea in understanding two of the relationship patterns and the various emotions that come along with these patterns and how
they have developed. The two concepts that were discussed throughout the chapters were the relationship patterns of conflict and distance. When it
comes to the relationship pattern of conflict I feel that Gilberts sums it up perfectly by describing it as two people who are locked in a pattern of
emotional ping–pong (Gilbert, 1992, pg.45). In conflict, the partners seem to always be against each other and are always blaming the other partner for

Couples that are in a conflict relationship pattern are most likely to seek out help because the couples seem to be more aware of the pain. In many
cases conflict is nothing new to individuals who are struggling with it. Gilbert (1992) states "They may have grown up with it. Sometimes conflicted
relationship partners grew up, not with conflict, but with other patterns that were just as difficult" (pg.46). In all reality conflict is a way of handling
relationship anxiety and in many cases anxiety doesn't come from the relationship, any type of anxiety can trigger conflict (Gilbert, 1992). To improve
people's relationships who are in a relationship pattern of conflict they have to stop focusing on the other partner and start focusing on themselves and
what they bring to the relationship. While reading on the concept of conflict in relationships I noticed many similarities to my life. I can recall many
instances in my life when conflict was a big issue in my relationships. Now that I have learned more on the relationship pattern of conflict I will be able
to recognize it and hopefully improve any future relationship that struggles with conflict. The second concept discussed in the chapter was the

Factors That Affect Relationships And Relationships
First, when people have their own perspective of relationship on how they should be maintained compared to how society or different cultures depict
relationships. Because the five factors of personal attraction affect friendships and relationships because have a major impact on how we all deal with
each other on different levels. When dating and in imamate relationships and friendships there has to be different attractions that keep us connected or

Examples Of Relationships In The Odyssey
Relationships are a result of what people put into it and what they take out. In The Odyssey by Homer, relationships show up as respectable, loyal,
and moral. While other examples are corrupt, and immoral. Also relationships shows up in Beauty Sleep by Cameron Dokey. Some of the examples
have great connections, and some other ones have no connection at all. The Last book I found some examples on relationships is Midnight Pearls by
Debbie Viguie. The examples I found were romantic or just as a friend. The Odyssey, Beauty Sleep, and Midnight Pearls all have wonderful, and
romantic relationships and other are horrible, not good relationships.
In The Odyssey I found a relationship with Telemakhos and Athena. "As for my sailing here–– the tale was that your father had come ... Show more

night she would unravel what she weaved.
The second book I found the theme relationships is in Beauty Sleep by Cameron Dokey. The first quote is Aurora (the main character) and her
relationship with her father and her mother. " In vain did I vehemently protest and my father gently suggest that she was being just a tad
overprotective. The spells spoken over me in my cradle weren't supposed to be fulfilled until I was sixteen years old. Couldn't I at least go out from
time to time till then? Well–supervised of course." (page 27)
The last quote I found was Aurora and her relationship with her cousin, Oswald. "And so he kissed me as I had him. Opening every single door inside
his heart. And the kiss was like nothing I can describe. For in that moment, I both lost and gained him."(page

Dual Relationship Of Dual Relationships
Dual relationships in therapy practice are identified as an ethical issue and a boundary violation (Sawyer, and Prescott, 2010). According to Sawyer
and Prescott (2010), this is based in part on the concepts that the relationships are not equal, the client is vulnerable, and that the primary
responsibility of the clinician is to make care of the client the first priority. Dual relationships are defined by Syme (2003), as 'arising in any
situation where a therapist assumes more than one significantly different role either simultaneously or sequentially with a client'. This type of
relationship typically refers to two roles overlapping each other. A type of a dual relationship that I could imagine occurring is taking on family or
friends as clients. This is a dual relationship because the therapist is acting as a professional and as a friend or family member to the client. An
example of this would be as follows, Susan is attempting to enroll her 6 year daughter into an elite private school. The school requires that an
intellectual assessment be completed before the final enrollment stages are complete. Susan asks her brother, a licensed child psychologist to perform
the assessment. The results revealed that there were some low– performance areas and the little girl's IQ was not up to par with the school's
requirement. For this reason, the school decided not to move forward with the enrollment process. Susan was upset with her psychologist–brother for

Effective Relationships : Effective And Ineffective...
1. I learned about effective and ineffective relationships. Effective relationships focus on making a relationship and there is a level of care and
understanding of one another. An effective relationship has room to grow and develop over time as the relationship and knowledge of one another
habits grow. An ineffective relationship has very little room to grow as the relationship does not have a solid base and the characteristics that define the
relationship show no connection between player and coach.
2. I learned about successful and unsuccessful relationships. Unsuccessful relationships may bring some positives, but without a successful
relationship, the bond between the coach and player will no be formed. A relationship can be successful, but no effective, the two go hand in hand with
building the relationship. Successful relationships that ineffective can build a relationship that is too personal that can be inappropriate and not
professional. Successful relationships between a coach and athlete are those that both feel comfortable in telling one another information without being
too personal or crossing boundaries.
3. "Communication promotes the development of shared knowledge and understanding about various issues (e.g. goals, beliefs, opinions, values) and
forms the basis for initiating, maintaining, and terminating the coach–athlete relationship," (Jowett). This quote summarizes the importance of creating

Love is tough business, the two involved in one relationship is expected to put equal effort into that relationship. Some people might not do so well and
others may have great relationships, but then we come across ones that can stay together even through the toughest times. Sometimes the other person
in the relationship leaves for a while, either for work, emergencies, and sometimes they serve in the military. Sometimes, they'll be gone for a few
days, weeks, months or years. A lot could change for both involved in that bond oflove; moreover, the character of the people could also change. Just

What would happen if someone was never loved? What would happen if someone never got in a fight with another person? Some believe that if

Having a close relationship with friends give people someone to talk to about things they would never say to their parents. It gives those people a
chance to learn to accept others' opposite opinions and work together. The importance of having good business relationships is great for someone who is
learning how to cooperate with someone he or she does not necessarily like. It gives that person a chance to learn to accept others opposite opinions
and to work together. Finally, the importance of a good parent relationship should not have to be explained. Parents must have a good relationship
with their child, because it will keep the child on course. Parents can teach the child right from wrong and learn from their child's body language how
he feels. One of the biggest mistakes all these relationships have in common is lying to the person with whom they are forming the relationships.
After someone lies to the other person in the relation, he or she tends to lose respect the person had in their relation. That person will think less about
the advice given from the other person. This is bad for all of the relationships. It breaks trust between friends, parents, and business partners. Another
big error is telling a person not to do something, because it only makes that person want to do it more. Instead, the person saying no should tell the
child, friend, or business partner why, and, give facts to support that reasoning. Simply

Relationship Between Relationships And Relationships
People interact constantly so human relationships are everywhere in life and in literature. Relationships are all around, even if it is not obvious.
Relationships can range anywhere from friends to marriages. There are many different types of relationships, (comma or semicolon?) none of which
are alike. Although, most people see relationships as good, some of them are bad and unhealthy. They can sometimes cause major problems that
affect the people involved and others too. Relationships can also be between groups of people. Many stories have racism in them which is a perfect
example of bad relationships with groups of people. Almost all good stories have relationships in them which shows that relationships are vital to
American Literature. Having relationships is common and natural. People interact daily so the formation of new relationships is unavoidable(Welch).
C. Welch created good questions concerning human nature and relationships like, "Should we conform or be original?" "What is the best way to live
together?" and "How do we deal with death?" The questions about life can also be used in literature. There are many basic questions that could be ask
to find out the main theme, why it is the theme, and what other less important themes are when dealing with relationships in stories(Welch).
Relationships are important enough that some stories are based almost solely on relationships. Problems with relationships helped create the plot of the
story in "The Crucible," by

DNA Of Relationships
Relationships are hard and can be very painful sometimes. But, why? Are we just unlucky when it comes to making relationships? Or is the second
party of the relationship at fault? Dr. Gary Smalley remarkably explains key concepts that could solve many relationship issues in his book The DNA
of Relationships. The first thing this book made me aware of was the fear dance. The fear dance is when someone triggers your fears resulting in you
reacting negatively which triggers his or her fears and turns into an ongoing cycle. This stood out to me because there is so much truth in this theory. I
think back to broke relationships and that was the problem. We constantly made the other hurt by our reactions to our fear button being pushed. This

I want to feel secure in all aspects of my life. In relationships especially, I long for people in my life that will create an atmosphere with little tension.
With the want of safety comes the fear of danger. Tension, I know, can be good but I flee from different types of tensions. In my eyes, danger is
not just physical but can also be emotional. When I seek people to be my friend, I tend to sway closer to those who are caring and compassionate. I
also find myself staying clear of anyone who shows signs of hurting my emotional stature. When my danger fear button is pushed I go into
exaggeration mode. I enlarge the situation majorly. Like if a my friend's boyfriend was being flirtatious with another girl and I felt that he was
going to damage my friend's emotional state, I would go to her and be honest but be very overly upset about the situation. My third want is
success. I strive to perfection in everything I do. Perfection is inevitably impossible, but I still try to be perfect. This philosophy is a vicious cycle
of failure in my eyes. I chose this want only because of the fear, which is failure. When given a task of high or low priority, I aim to do the absolute
best I can. This may sound not like a problem until I reveal what happens when I do not live up to my own high expectations for myself. When I do
not succeed, I emotionally break. I cry and I question everything about

Why Relationships Fail
Some people think that heartbreak is the worst feeling in the world. Many relationships have gone wrong, leaving more questions than answers. Why
does it sometimes feel like a broken heart hurts worse than a broken bone? Do feelings really have that much of an impact on a person's day–to–day
life? There are a number of reasons why a relationship fails. Jealousy, attachment, detachment, selfishness, time, trust, communication, honesty, and
acceptance are just a few reasons.
Do opposites really attract? Maybe at first. It's hard to maintain a relationship when two people have absolutely nothing in common. It could be the

You start to think that nobody will understand what you're going through. You don't have any goals. Or you just stop believing that there isn't anything
out there for you to hold onto that has any meaning to your life.
Life isn't about the what ifs or maybes or the destination, it's about the journey and what you can overcome to make you a better person. It's about
setting goals and doing your best to succeed. There is nothing in life that you have to prove to anybody but yourself. Everybody is a unique
individual that nobody else can compare to. If you felt that you couldn't be yourself in a relationship then that's something that needs to be reevaluated.
You could look at a failed relationship as an obstacle in life that you have to overcome in order to become a better, stronger person.
Placing blame on a failed relationship and putting too much thought into the question Why?, isn't really fair to either party involved. It is not
necessarily one person's fault or because one specific event that happened. If two people were together, for however long, then something about the
other person must have made you happy at one point during your relationship. Every relationship needs time and space away from each other as well
as together. A time when you can each find who you are as an individual to better be a couple.
Not everybody has a successful relationship right off the bat. A successful relationship takes time and effort to build

Relationships: Wall and Tyger
What would the world be like without relationships? Would you be satisfied? What is the definition of a healthy relationship? Why do we separate
people from our lives? Why do we welcome certain people in our lives and not others? How do we know when we can trust someone? What is a true
relationship? Why do we repair relationships? What is the value of putting up a fence (O'Brien)? All of these questions can be answered with the
poems "Mending Wall" by Robert Frost and "The Tyger" by William Blake. In these poems both speakers question why to create or build something
that is either destructive or will be destroyed.
The "Mending Wall," by Robert Frost, describes a story about two men who come together each spring to walk alongside the wall that separates their
farms. When someone builds a wall, they are separating themselves from something or someone and keeping something or someone at a distance. In
"Mending Wall," the narrator of the poem is an outgoing, open–minded person. His neighbor, however, is quite the opposite of him. He is quiet, only
comes out once a year in the spring, and sticks to what he knows. While they walk along the wall, they fix the breaks in the wall that the hunters and
the winter have made during the past year.
According to the statement in the poem by the speaker, "He is all pine and I am apple orchard," both farms consist of trees. The wall serves no real
purpose; it just separates the two farms. Also the poem says, "I have come after them and

Building Positive Relationships

  • 1. Building Positive Relationships Introduction In today's world, creating positive relationships can get you a long way in life. Whether that's knowing someone that can help you get a job or getting into a good college. Breaking positive relationships can leave you with no one by your side when you are in need for help. "Relationships are built on integrity" (Ellis, 2014, p.109). So when you break a promise with your boyfriend your relationship may be strained (Ellis, 2014, p.109). Building positive relationships are not easy for most people. I am one of these people because I am not really a people person. I don't feel comfortable talking to people if I don't know them that well. This is one thing I need to work on to be successful in my future. Information Powerful speaking is one good way to keep agreements or relationships. Think of this exercise as each level as one rung on a ladder (Ellis, 2014, p.109). The lowest rung on the ladder is obligation which means we feel passive and helpless to change anything (Ellis, 2014, p.109). For example, words that are used during this level may include I should, he out to, someone better, they need to, I must, and I had to (Ellis, 2104, p.109). "Note: When we move to the next rung, we leave behind obligation and advance to self–responsibility" (Ellis, 2014, p.109). This also occurs for the rest of the rungs. The next rung is possibility which means we examine new options at this level (Ellis, 2014, p.109). Phrases you might hear at this level is I might, I could, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Boundaries In Relationships The Importance of Setting Boundaries in Your Relationship When we're feeling completely drained, tired, stressed, and exhausted all the time, many of us don't realize that this is caused by not setting boundaries in our relationships and our lives. When we leave ourselves too vulnerable to our partner, the result can be feeling unseen, under–appreciated, and unsupported. There are several reasons why setting boundaries is vitally important for your personal wellbeing, and even the well–being of your partner. We're going to discuss just a few of these reasons here, while also providing tips for how you can begin to set boundaries today. One of the primary reasons why you need to find your own personal borders is that it is necessary for creating a sense of self. If you don't have boundaries there is a very good chance that you don't have a solid sense of who you are as an individual. Perhaps you take on the thoughts of your partner, you embody their feelings, ideas, values, and beliefs, as if they were your own. The term 'enmeshment' is used to describe this phenomenon, and when you've been in a relationship for quite some time, you may not even know that it's happening. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some will want you to believe that this is the very nature of love, but that couldn't be further from the truth. When enmeshment occurs, one or both people in the relationship will have a hard time identifying their own unique experience of life, and how that is different from their partner. This is very common for women; closely aligning themselves with the beliefs and worldview of their partner, and believing these to be their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Relationships A relationship is the way in which two or more people, groups, "countries, talk to, behave toward, and deal with each other or the way in which two or more people or things are connected" (Merriam–Webster, 2015). Relationships are a very important thing in our lives, be it professional or just social you must maintain them and learn how to work with people. The relationships formed at university are no different, they can help you either succeed or fail in life. so of course there is a major role that they play in a persons in life. One is affected depending on how good or bad the relationship is. Yes, most of the time the relationships formed are good one, but what if it's a bad one? There are many types of relationships that people at university can have. From a favourite student–teacher relationship to a relationship between students or a student and a member of faculty to a life–related relationship with a lecture hall–cleaner and so on. These kinds of relationships has affected people in both positive and negative ways. The same concept applies to students. In order for students to be able to pay attention and get interest in a class, they should be able to have a good relationship with the lecturer. "Picture a student who feels a strong personal connection to her teacher, talks with her teacher frequently, and receives more constructive guidance and praise rather than just criticism from her teacher. The student is likely to trust the teacher more, show more engagement in learning, behave better in class and achieve at higher levels academically. Positive teacher–student relationships draw students into the process of learning and promote their desire to learn", (Rimm–Kaufman & Sandilos, 2016) which is going to broaden your mind and make you more ... • 4. Technology's Impact on Relationships New technology can ruin relationships completely if people lack communication skills. Why would someone want to get to know someone without being face to face? What would they talk about when they are together? The relationship would become dull and boring; there is no way to avoid that. Communication is key; being able to use body language and tones in your voice so people won't get the wrong idea is impossible over the Internet. Everyone has been in a situation when texting someone, and he or she says something that comes off offensive, and you are completely put off, and feel like you are put in an awkward situation. That rarely happens when you're able to read people face to face . Long distance relationships can be very successful using technology if people take advantage of the newer video chatting. My boyfriend lives in Mississippi, and I live here in Texas, but we see each other at least once a day or more. It's like he isn't in another state most of the time. Communication is key; if a relationship has no real communication then what is it? We started dating in high school when we could see each other as much as we wished; but then he left for Ole Miss. I was scared at first that this long distance would ruin us, but I couldn't have been more wrong. New technology, such as FaceTime, and Skype has been very beneficial to our long distance relationship. He calls me on Skype/FaceTime every night, and we work on homework together, and just like if he was here with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Failed Relationships We live our lives waiting for who we think is the perfect person, but in reality that never happens. When we hear the word relationship, we think of a man and a woman. Being in a relationship is more than just being intimate. There are different kinds of relationship such as husbands and wives, parent and child, or just friend to friend. Some people say it takes two people to make a relationship fail. When two people meet, they usually know from the begining if they want to be with that person or if they want to pursue a relationship. When a relationship fails, it is because one or both parties involved gives up. Giving up on a relationship is always hard because it means someone's feelings are going to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some people cheat with the hope of never being caught. Another reason why relationships fail are because of children, some people having children will help in reality it only makes worse. On the other hand, if a person may bring their child or children into the relationship, and the child and the other partner does not get along that usually cause a big problem. Communication is the number one key to a good relationship. When there is no communication between both parties involved in the relationship, that is when the relationship fails whether it is a man and a woman, or a child trying to divorce his/her parents or friends cutting their ties forever. When couples realize their relationship is starting to fail, they will try different things such as marriage counseling. That is when the couple will sit down with a therapist and they will try to work their problems out. Sometimes therapy can help the couples work their issues out and get to the root of their problems. Another solution is a vacation or a second honeymoon where they can reconcile or rekindle the relationship that they use to have. Or even as far as moving away to get a new start on life, to try to get away from the old way of how things use to be and try to start a new life together again. In a relationship, we have to know what we can, and cannot live without. Being in a relationship means nothing, no one is perfect and in a relationship, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Examples Of Dysfunctional Relationships Dysfunctional People in Relationships Have you ever wondered why some people stay in a dysfunctional relationship? Dysfunctional relationships are relationships that do not perform their appropriate function. In "The Yellow Wallpaper," The narrator is a doctor who although probably filled with good intentions, comes off seeming domineering. The narrator and her husband move into a manor for the summer to help her with her "temporary nervous depression – a slight hysterical tendency." Female patients were not to listened to by male patients, but because back then women were not in positions of power. The two main reasons why their relationship is dysfunctional is the way John treats the narrator and the fact that she has postpartum depression so she is not herself. The medical world has changed a lot since back then. For instance, there were no female doctors at that time. In the 1800's, much was unknown in the terms of health. The mortality rate was high and life expectancy was low. Parents, rich or poor, had no way of combating the deadly diseases and infections that often took their children's lives. Deadly outbreaks of cholera ( an infection in the small intestine) to the flu were, understandably, a leading cause of death in children at the time. After all, children's immune systems are not fully developed and are therefore weaker in the terms of fighting off these fatal diseases. Medicine has advanced dramatically from the 1800's to the present.Today, although not all children are healthy if any, foods available to them, the overall diet of children has improved. Also, with what is known about diseases and transmission, many deadly diseases are under control. Luckily, today it is much more common for people also have regular checkups with the doctor, from the time they are in the womb through adulthood. One reason why John and the narrator's relationship is dysfunctional is that John treats the narrator like a child. The relationship between the narrator and John is not overly loving, but unlike many people, I do not believe that John was intentionally trying to hurt her. John cares about his wife, he just refuses to admit that his own prescribed treatment may, in fact, be the wrong treatment. John ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Relationships And Relationships : Friendships And Intimate... Friendships and Intimate Relationships Describe how the five factors of personal attraction affect friendships and intimate relationships. The five factors that predict interpersonal relationships are: proximity, familiarity, similarity, physical appearance, and reciprocity. Proximity refers to the geographical location of persons. People are more likely to initiate, engage, or maintain relationships if someone's geographical location is near or convenient to the person they are to pursue. Relationships, whether romantic or platonic, are not as likely to be initiated if the proximity does not allow individuals to cross paths or maintain a certain level of communication. As well, familiarity plays an important role in the fostering of relationships. People are said to have an increased attraction and fondness for individuals that they see more often than those they do not. In lay terms, similarity can be summed up by saying that people enjoy the presence of those like (or similar) to them. Individuals are more often drawn to and feel less intimidated by others that share their culture and belief systems; thus, are more likely to form relationships with them. Next, is physical attractiveness; which can be defined in two different ways. First off, people tend to believe that beautiful things equal good things and are more likely to seek out relationships with individuals they find beautiful. However, people are also likely to form relationships with people they believe to be on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Instrumental Relationships And Adolescent Relationships The variety of films for this class portray youth culture and the array of experiences and influences that affect adolescents in their transition from childhood to adulthood. One of the central issues found in the films is the idea of status relations. Status is among the most important and controversial aspects of adolescence, and youth often interact with each other in unique, specific ways to maintain it. This paper will explore instrumental versus expressive relationships and status relations in high school in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Dazed and Confused. While Heckerling's film portrays a variety of expressive relationships, Dazed and Confused exhibits many instrumental relationships – both of which affect status relations in high schools in different ways. While expressive relationships discourage status relations, instrumental relationships encourage them. To begin, status is one of if not the most prevalent issue among adolescents in the high school setting. It is difficult to break down status into each of its many components, but the root of it all lies in the relationships formed and held by youth. The two defining types of adolescent relationships are instrumental and expressive relationships. In his 2016 book, Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids, Milner explains that "Instrumental relationships are formed for some specific purpose or goal; expressive relations are those that have no specific purpose but focus on companionship" (Milner, 2016). It is obvious that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Relationship Between Long Distance Relationships Despite the fact that relationships can be troubling, stressful, and even deadly, most of us are aware that we need relationships with others and that the quality of our lives depends on those relationships whether it is from friends or romantic partners. With the development of technology the evolution of long distance dating relationships are transforming. Long distance relationships used to primarily consist of handwritten letters with the occasional phone call in between. However, progression and advancements in technology have led to numerous means of new communication. The Internet created a new and unexpected dynamic in the realm of romantic and long distance dating relationships. It is popularly believed that people who are deeply in love spend a great deal of time simply looking at each other. Being able to look at each other implies that the couple is in close proximity of each other to perform this task of developing intimacy. Couples in long distance relationships do not have this luxury of being in close proximity of their loved one for weeks, months, and in some cases even years apart from each other. Because satisfying close relationships are associated with happiness, it is not surprising that their absence in this case long distance relationships can sometimes be associated with unhappiness and psychological state of loneliness. Sometimes relationships get hard and go through some "rough patches" and lead to negative consequences. I personally can see in other relationships, and in my own past and present these issues cause many to question their own. Some compare their relationships to ones they see in movies, on social media, or celebrities they look up to. It's a dire need to be perfect, and want nothing but happiness and no fighting, and that's what many want and try to succeed this based on what they see. The issue in relationships are common and can eventually lead to some heavy consequences. Being in a relationship means a lot of different things to anyone I could ask. There is a lot of different traits that make up a relationship, and each person can interpret it in their own way, which could lead to problems as well. Relationship Between God And Relationship With God According to Merriam–Webster, a relationship is the way in which two or more people, groups, or countries talk to, behave toward, connect, and deal with each other. It's an emotional, spiritual, or other type of connection between persons. Relationships can be difficult to maintain because we are all different people evolving daily. Majority of the issues and joys of life revolves around people and relationships. Our relationships have a major affect on our quality of life; therefore, we should be selective and cautious about whom we choose to be a part of our inner circle. We need relationships; there is no doubt about it. They play a major role in our spiritual and personal development. This is why I believe that a relationship with ... We must remember that we are all flawed, imperfect, and blemished in one way or another. This is why unconditional love is a necessity. The closer we get to God, the more Christ–like we become and as a result, we're able to maintain better relationships. I've discovered that our dealings with other people are a direct reflection of our relationship with God. For example, if you are a selfish person and your relationships are all about you, this tells me that you only seek God for what He can do for you. You're not concerned about what services you can provide for the Kingdom of God. Let's take a look at another example of how your relationship with other people directly reflects your relationship with God. Let's say you're a person that's always right and never wrong in your dealings with others. You refuse to maintain a teachable spirit and you always have all the right answers, so you think. This is a humility issue, and it suggests that you only seek God when you've exhausted all of your other possibilities, instead of initially seeking and depending on Him for leadership and guidance. A person that believes they're never wrong, can do no wrong, and have all the answers to life's problems, is a person with a haughty attitude. • 14. Relationship Between A Parent And Child Relationship Throughout history human behavior has held a continuing fascination for artists of all kinds. The way in which human beings relate to one another has been a source of inspiration to painters, sculptors, authors, composers, playwrights, filmmakers and photographers alike. Relationships between people vary from the everyday dynamics and the significance in which they value one another and each connection between those relationships makes a different impact on the one of someone else. There are many relationships people form throughout their lives, for instance the primary relationships at the start of their lives, between parent and child, and siblings, which start in the home. A relationship between a parent and child has a special unspoken bond in which they share indescribable love, never ending care and affection for each other, as the parent is the only depended and reliable thing they have. A good parent and child relationship can teach a child how to form other bonds with mutual respect and admiration, such as friendships further on in life. As people grow and develop, they form secondary connections such as friendships and intimate relationships. Friendships are predominantly built on trust, even as young children. Interaction with peers helps to strengthen character and introduces a sense of belonging with others rather than family. Children are naturally trusting, which means they form bonds with one another instinctively. As they get older and gain knowledge, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If there is no relationship present, there is essentially no story; in the short story A Temporary Matter by Jhumpa Lahiri the entire story focuses on the married immigrants, Shoba and Shukumar, and their relationship. Unfortunately, their relationship is an example of something that is commonly seen in many North American relationships. Lahiri clearly depicts them as an unhappy couple that possesses a deeply flawed marriage, and are only able to connect through negativity, irritation, and grief. It is about the memory of the first time they went out for dinner together, which is a happy memory for both of them. It is also a humorous confession because it is about something so simple and innocent. He finishes this confession in an adoring way, Shoba asks, "Why did you forget to tip the waiter?" (Lahiri 14) and he replies with, "By the end of the meal I had a funny feeling I might marry you." (Lahiri 14) This shows how the use of memory brings a couple closer together and allows them to feel a similar feeling that they might have felt when they were first meeting. This is often referred to as the "honeymoon phase" of their relationship, meaning they are happy and the relationship is still within its innocent state. They have little to no problems between the two of them because they have known each other for such a short time. Relationship Between Platonic And Romantic Relationships The transition from childhood to emerging adulthood consists of a unique and distinctive period in an individual's life regarding their network of platonic and romantic relationships. Extra–familial relationships become more central in an individual's social world; thus, an individual's capacity for intimate relationships begins to develop with both friends and romantic partners (Allen & Land, 1999). Simultaneously, a romantic partner quickly becomes the focus in one's relationship hierarchy (Collins & van Dulmen, 20006). Romantic relationship instability is a common problem in western civilization as evidenced by recent divorce rates across the nation (Ceners for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2012). Currently, the United States has the highest divorce rate of any Western Nation, with a divorce rate of 6.8 per 1,000 individuals in 2012 (CDC, 2012). Approximately one–half of all first marriages end in dissolution in the United States, and even higher rates of divorce are present for second marriages (Broman, 2002). Additionally, those who cohabitate and are not married are more likely to separate than those who are married (Kiernan, 200). However, rates of divorce tend to underestimate the problem relating to relationship distress and dissatisfaction given that some couples choose to remain in their relationships even when they perceive their relationship to be of poor satisfaction and/or stability (Karney & Bradbury, 1995). There are different kinds of friendships and they are personal, professional, emotional, and intellectual. In this paper I will try and shed some light on the variety of them. According to Webster's dictionary, friendship is defined as people whom one knows well and is quite fond of them. In friendship you can have several types of relations and emotions for that person. It is fairly easy to have relationships with people at work, but personal relationships are people that you grow up with, such as family, neighbors, and school friends. Whereas, professional friendship, are individuals that you meet at various facilities who know a few facts about your career or even a small part about your life. • 21. The Common Romantic Relationship Relationships Most of the adults in this world are involved in a romantic relationship or will be eventually. The most common romantic relationship includes the sexual dating relationship, the domestic partnership, and the marriage. The adults or partners involved in these relationships inevitably reach a point of conflict and how they react to the conflict can show whether the partners are a securely, avoidant, or anxious attached person. The securely attached adults usually have a positive view when dealing with relationship issues. Whereas, an avoidant attached adults are more hesitant and distance themselves from their partner. Adults who tend to be more emotional, jealous, and possessive and demand closeness have an anxious attachment. People should strive for the secure attachment style for the best satisfaction level, commitment level, and ability to adapt to change in their romantic relationship, that is what most of the adults have and most want their partner to be the same. Many theorist noticed that there tended to be a pattern with the attachment styles that people have as adults to what attachment style they had as children. John Bowlby designed the Attachment Theory to explain the bond between a child and people serving in the caregiver role (Feldman, 2011). This study presents evidence found in Stern (2011), Robertson et al. (2014), and McCullough et al. (2012) to further expand on certain aspects that affect an individual's desired age to be married. Stern (2011) explored a correlation between family attitudes and their effect on adult relationships. Stern (2011) surveyed 433 volunteers and had them describe their relationships with a predetermined list of adjectives. Romantic relationship was measured in two distinct manners: attachment style and quality (Stern, 2011). It was found that sibling relationships did affect romantic relationships. The difference of this study from Stern's, is that Stern studied individuals that were already married, whereas this study attempts to investigate whether there is a correlation between positive sibling and positive parental relationship to the age an individual desires to be married. With this reasoning, the following hypothesis was constructed: H1: There will be a positive correlation between positive sibling relationships and desire to get married at a younger age. When the interactions between Jack and Al and Jack and his therapist are mentioned, it is apparent that Jack tends to split. He feels that Al is completely against him and out to take advantage of him. He is also unable to consider things from Al's point of view in order to better understand the reality of the situation. Another instance of this splitting behavior is noted when Jack accuses the therapist of stringing him along simply for more money and considers him on Al's "side". In fact the therapist noted that Jack believed that he was either completely on his side or completely against him. Furthermore in his interactions with his therapist, Jack seems to project his emotions and feelings outward. Although it was clear that Jack was the angry one, he accused the therapist of being angry with him. According to Sawyer and Prescott (2010), this is based in part on the concepts that the relationships are not equal, the client is vulnerable, and that the primary responsibility of the clinician is to make care of the client the first priority. Dual relationships are defined by Syme (2003), as 'arising in any situation where a therapist assumes more than one significantly different role either simultaneously or sequentially with a client'. Effective relationships focus on making a relationship and there is a level of care and understanding of one another. After Troy, Odysseus and his crew head to the land of Ismara, regarding Odysseus's order after plundering the Cicones, when they were being chased by the Cicones many men were killed. This would be one of many times that Odysseus would lose his men. After more time on the sea, he comes across the island of hulking cyclops. They wound up in a cave and were caught by the owner of that cave, Polyphemus. Trapped, Odysseus and his crew were stuck in that cave for many days. Thanks to Odysseus's quick thinking they managed to go back to their ships and leave with the few lucky men to survive the cyclops. The final leg of his trip, he went through the underworld and met with great grief. Soon he came across a herd of the sun god, Helios's, cattle. • 35. Relationships What would happen if someone was never loved? What would happen if someone never got in a fight with another person? Some believe that if someone was never loved, he or she would die. Those people are right! Some people believe that if someone never got in a fight with another person, he or she would be ok. Those people are wrong! Loving and fighting are what keep a person sane. They could be the things to keep a person alive. Having a good and healthy relationship is so important, because it can be what keeps a person living. If someone was never loved, that person would feel anger and sadness. Successful suicides are the result of feeling no love. Those people who commit that kind of suicide feel alone and trapped. They feel like the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having a close relationship with friends give people someone to talk to about things they would never say to their parents. It gives those people a chance to learn to accept others' opposite opinions and work together. The importance of having good business relationships is great for someone who is learning how to cooperate with someone he or she does not necessarily like. It gives that person a chance to learn to accept others opposite opinions and to work together. Finally, the importance of a good parent relationship should not have to be explained. Parents must have a good relationship with their child, because it will keep the child on course. Parents can teach the child right from wrong and learn from their child's body language how he feels. One of the biggest mistakes all these relationships have in common is lying to the person with whom they are forming the relationships. After someone lies to the other person in the relation, he or she tends to lose respect the person had in their relation. That person will think less about the advice given from the other person. This is bad for all of the relationships. It breaks trust between friends, parents, and business partners. Another big error is telling a person not to do something, because it only makes that person want to do it more. Instead, the person saying no should tell the child, friend, or business partner why, and, give facts to support that reasoning. Simply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Relationship Between Relationships And Relationships People interact constantly so human relationships are everywhere in life and in literature. Relationships are all around, even if it is not obvious. Relationships can range anywhere from friends to marriages. There are many different types of relationships, (comma or semicolon?) none of which are alike. Although, most people see relationships as good, some of them are bad and unhealthy. They can sometimes cause major problems that affect the people involved and others too. Relationships can also be between groups of people. Many stories have racism in them which is a perfect example of bad relationships with groups of people. Almost all good stories have relationships in them which shows that relationships are vital to American Literature. Having relationships is common and natural. People interact daily so the formation of new relationships is unavoidable(Welch). C. Welch created good questions concerning human nature and relationships like, "Should we conform or be original?" "What is the best way to live together?" and "How do we deal with death?" The questions about life can also be used in literature. There are many basic questions that could be ask to find out the main theme, why it is the theme, and what other less important themes are when dealing with relationships in stories(Welch). Relationships are important enough that some stories are based almost solely on relationships. Problems with relationships helped create the plot of the story in "The Crucible," by ... • 37. DNA Of Relationships Relationships are hard and can be very painful sometimes. But, why? Are we just unlucky when it comes to making relationships? Or is the second party of the relationship at fault? Dr. Gary Smalley remarkably explains key concepts that could solve many relationship issues in his book The DNA of Relationships. The first thing this book made me aware of was the fear dance. The fear dance is when someone triggers your fears resulting in you reacting negatively which triggers his or her fears and turns into an ongoing cycle. This stood out to me because there is so much truth in this theory. I think back to broke relationships and that was the problem. We constantly made the other hurt by our reactions to our fear button being pushed. This applies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I want to feel secure in all aspects of my life. In relationships especially, I long for people in my life that will create an atmosphere with little tension. With the want of safety comes the fear of danger. Tension, I know, can be good but I flee from different types of tensions. In my eyes, danger is not just physical but can also be emotional. When I seek people to be my friend, I tend to sway closer to those who are caring and compassionate. I also find myself staying clear of anyone who shows signs of hurting my emotional stature. When my danger fear button is pushed I go into exaggeration mode. I enlarge the situation majorly. Like if a my friend's boyfriend was being flirtatious with another girl and I felt that he was going to damage my friend's emotional state, I would go to her and be honest but be very overly upset about the situation. My third want is success. I strive to perfection in everything I do. Perfection is inevitably impossible, but I still try to be perfect. This philosophy is a vicious cycle of failure in my eyes. I chose this want only because of the fear, which is failure. When given a task of high or low priority, I aim to do the absolute best I can. This may sound not like a problem until I reveal what happens when I do not live up to my own high expectations for myself. When I do not succeed, I emotionally break. I cry and I question everything about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Why Relationships Fail Some people think that heartbreak is the worst feeling in the world. Many relationships have gone wrong, leaving more questions than answers. Why does it sometimes feel like a broken heart hurts worse than a broken bone? Do feelings really have that much of an impact on a person's day–to–day life? There are a number of reasons why a relationship fails. Jealousy, attachment, detachment, selfishness, time, trust, communication, honesty, and acceptance are just a few reasons. Do opposites really attract? Maybe at first. It's hard to maintain a relationship when two people have absolutely nothing in common. You start to think that nobody will understand what you're going through. You don't have any goals. Or you just stop believing that there isn't anything out there for you to hold onto that has any meaning to your life. Life isn't about the what ifs or maybes or the destination, it's about the journey and what you can overcome to make you a better person. It's about setting goals and doing your best to succeed. There is nothing in life that you have to prove to anybody but yourself. Everybody is a unique individual that nobody else can compare to. It is not necessarily one person's fault or because one specific event that happened. If two people were together, for however long, then something about the other person must have made you happy at one point during your relationship. Every relationship needs time and space away from each other as well as together. A time when you can each find who you are as an individual to better be a couple. Not everybody has a successful relationship right off the bat. A successful relationship takes time and effort to build ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a study that stated "young adults acknowledge relationships as rather romantic and or sexual and their confusing territory of intimate (and sometimes impersonal) interaction. • 40. Relationships: Wall and Tyger What would the world be like without relationships? Would you be satisfied? What is the definition of a healthy relationship? Why do we separate people from our lives? Why do we welcome certain people in our lives and not others? How do we know when we can trust someone? What is a true relationship? Why do we repair relationships? What is the value of putting up a fence (O'Brien)? All of these questions can be answered with the poems "Mending Wall" by Robert Frost and "The Tyger" by William Blake. In these poems both speakers question why to create or build something that is either destructive or will be destroyed. The "Mending Wall," by Robert Frost, describes a story about two men who come together each spring to walk alongside the wall that separates their farms. When someone builds a wall, they are separating themselves from something or someone and keeping something or someone at a distance. In "Mending Wall," the narrator of the poem is an outgoing, open–minded person. His neighbor, however, is quite the opposite of him. He is quiet, only comes out once a year in the spring, and sticks to what he knows. While they walk along the wall, they fix the breaks in the wall that the hunters and the winter have made during the past year. According to the statement in the poem by the speaker, "He is all pine and I am apple orchard," both farms consist of trees. The wall serves no real purpose; it just separates the two farms. Also the poem says, "I have come after them and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
