My most comfortable hat s
When assigned a new task, I think I tend to start with the green
hat focusing on creativity and the possibilities, alternatives and
new ideas. The sky is the limit sort of thinking. I then change to
the yellow hat because at the early stages of any project I am
filled with lots of enthusiasm and energy. Wearing the yellow hat
I definitely explore all the positives and probe for value and
benefit. Then I change to the white hat to search out more
information and facts.

When I have collected all my ideas and information, I then put on
the black hat to help sort out the ideas in to useful, possible ideas
and less useful information and ideas. I also switch with the red
hat during this process to include my gut feelings, hunches and
intuition.
The blue hat is last hat I wear to ensure that I have managed the
thinking process and observe what I did and how it was done. If
there is a need to put on a hat to fine -tune the process, while
wearing the blue hat, I’ll decide which hat to wear.

3. Creative Teams 3
It has been very interesting and useful to explore the concept of
the six hats while working on a team. Some people prefer to wear
different colour hats during different stages of the process and it
is interesting to decide which hat to wear when.
The benefit however, is that we all apply the same thinking
process to a task when we it has been decided which hat to wear
when brainstorming or during the decision making process.
