The Controvercial Big Bang Theory
Have you ever wondered about the start of time? How about the start of the universe? Well, this
question has been nagging astronomers and scientists alike for years and years. But in 1927,
Georges Lemaitre proposed one of the most controversial theory of all time, the Big Bang.
The Big Bang is a theory about the start of the universe. People have talked about it for years and
it's very controversial. First, let's start with the theory.
The Big Bang was first formed by Georges Lemaitre. He is the first person to actually propose this
theory. He also derived "Hubble's Law". Hubble's Law helps estimate the rate of expansion of the
universe. The equation is H=v/d where H is Hubble's constant, v is the velocity of the galaxy, and d
is the distance from the earth. Even though it seems that he is a 24 hour scientist, he is, however, a
Belgian priest.
This theory is believed to have created the universe. Its occurrence was estimated to be 13.8 billion
years ago. Of course, this is all estimation. No one knows when exactly it happened. Again, people
have different beliefs.
Now, to further express the above statement that people have different beliefs, there are a lot of
different forms of this theory. I have handpicked 7 different forms of this single theory to share with
you. Here they are in order.

Astronomers believed the Universe was created about 14 billion years ago. During that time, the
entire Universe was inside a bubble that was thousands of times smaller than a pinhead, and it was
insanely hot and dense. Out of nowhere this little bubble started expanding. This expansion created
what we know as the Universe. In such little time the Universe went from the size of an atom to the
ginormous galaxy we have that is continuously growing. According to the Big Bang Theory the
universe appeared as a singularity. Singularities are thought to exist at the core of black holes. These

This observation means that it has taken every galaxy the same amount of time to move from a
starting position to its current position. This observation is called "Hubble's Law," named after
Edwin Hubble (1889–1953) who discovered this in 1929. Edwin Hubble's evidence supports the
expansion of the universe and suggests that the universe was once compacted. Third, if the universe
was insanely hot as the Big Bang suggests, scientists should be able to find some of this heat left
over. In 1965, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson discovered a 2.725 degree Kelvin Cosmic
Microwave Background radiation which infuses the observable universe. This is thought to be the
remnant that scientists were looking for. Finally, the discovery of great amounts of Helium and
Hydrogen lead to support the Big Bang Theory. (LaRocco) So now that we have the basics of the
Big Bang Theory, what happened after the initial expansion? In the fractions of the first second after
creation what was once a vacuum began to expand into the universe. Immediately after the Big
Bang the universe was tremendously hot as a result of both matter and antimatter moving apart in all
directions. (For every type of matter particle, there also exists a corresponding antimatter particle.
Antimatter particles look and behave just like their corresponding matter particles, except they have

The big bang theory is the result of work by Albert Einstein and Edwin Hubble. Arno Penzias and
Reno Wilson stumbled upon background noise emanating from space. Collaboration with Robert
Dicke resulted in a paper providing evidence for the big bang. Science research relies on
cooperation and serendipity.

September 1, 2014 A popular television show called The Big Bang Theory airs every Thursday night
on the CBS television network and is also in syndication. The show 's introduction compresses the
history of the world and scientific advances into a nineteen second video. Listen closely to the
beginning and hear according to Robertson (2007), the "whole universe was in a hot dense state and
14 billion years ago the expansion started." The song and images seem to flash at light speed. One
of my sons asked, "What did the TV show mean by the big bang theory?" This one television show,
while not explaining the theory, launched the phrase, "big bang theory" into our generation 's
collective conscious. In simple terms, the big bang theory is a scientific attempt to explain a
question mankind asked from the beginning of time: "Why are we here and where did we come
from?"

The Big Bang theory claims that 10 to 20 billion years ago, there was a burst in the universe and it
expanded rapidly from what is called a "cosmic egg". This was a fireball that grew into a large
group of charged particles and began to produce matter all over the universe. Then as time went on
scientist claim that about 300,000 years ago the fireball cooled down enough to form subatomic
particles, and then atoms of gases. Time proceeded and gravity compressed the gases into galaxies,
stars, planets and the black void which all makes up the modern universe in which we live.
This theory began in 1922 by a physicist Alexander A. Friedmann and was developed by many
famous scientists after that. This theory taught that the universe is constantly expanding, and
received its name from one of its most well–known opponents at the time in 1950. Sir Fred Hoyle
said that the universe is in a steady–state. This theory did not last because most scientists adopted
the Big–Bang theory. The proof was the radiation that was said to be the remnants of the fireball
from the beginning of the universe.
Scientists continued to study this more in depth and proved that there was "broad wrinkles in the
fabric of space". This was discovered because temperature fluctuations. Over these past centuries

The universe is a magnificent place. There are thought to be more than 100 billion galaxies, each,
with 100 billion stars (Hawking 48). There are vast clouds of gas, light years across, each taking on
its own dazzling shape and color. In our solar system alone, there are planets asteroids, comets and
moons. For millennia, humans have attributed the workings and beauty of the cosmos to the divine.
Slowly, we learned that laws governed the motion of these celestial bodies, laws which would come

When infrared radiation becomes redshifted, it appears to be microwaves, which have even longer
wavelengths than infrared radiation. At around the same time Dicke and Peebles were making this
prediction, in 1965, two physicists at the Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey, Arno Penzias
and Robert Wilson, were receiving a lot of microwave interference with their equipment (Hawking
55). They had a very sensitive microwave detector, and were receiving this interference no matter
where they pointed the detector. They eventually concluded that the interference was everywhere,
and from outside the atmosphere, and extremely uniform. It was the same no matter what time of
day, or year. This meant the microwaves they were detecting were originating from outside of the
solar system, and even the galaxy (Hawking 55). It was eventually realized that this microwave
background was the same that Dicke, Peeples, and Gamow had predicted. Penzias and Wilson had
found the "glow" of the Big Bang. In 1992, COBE (Cosmic Background Explorer satellite) was able
to find slight variations in the microwave background. This meant that the early universe was not
completely even, allowing matter to clump together and structures to form such as galaxies

Big Bang Theory or a Big Fabrication The concept of creation has boggled human's minds for
centuries. Human nature has an intuitive sense of longing for an answer to solve the unknown, and
creation embodies the concept of unknown. In an effort to compile reason and scientific knowledge,
an explanation of the formation of the universe was formed and is widely known as The Big Bang
Theory. The Big Bang Theory is considered, "...the leading scientific explanation for the formation
of the universe" (Howell). The Big Bang Theory articulates that before this event there was nothing;
and after it there was something. This suggestion to how the universe was created was originally
born from the sighting that the surrounding galaxies are moving away from our own at an immense
speed as if they had been propelled by some force (Howell). The standard theory states that the
entire universe originated as a condensed, infinitely pressured, singularity, which defies the laws of
today's understanding of physics. It is a misconception this event occurred as an explosion; rather it
resembled more of an expansion. At one moment there was nothing in existence and in the
following, the universe expanded as a balloon would, from a sub atomic particle, to all that it is

What is the Big Bang Theory's origin of the universe?
The Big Bang Theory is the leading explanation of how the universe began. It states that the
universe started as a small singularity; very small, very dense, and very hot. It then inflated over the
next 13.8 billion years into the cosmos we know today, and continues to expand to this day. Within
the first 10 seconds of the universe beginning, the surrounding temperature was 5.5 billion degrees
Celsius, or 10 billion degrees Fahrenheit. The cosmos then contained a vast array of fundamental
particles such as neutrons, electrons, and protons, which then decayed or combined as the universe
cooled. The afterglow, or cosmic microwave background, of the Big Bang was first predicted by
Ralph Alpher in 1948, but was then accidentally found 20 years later by a team making a radio wave
receiver, first thinking it was bird poo (Howell, 2017). This is a basis of what the Big Bang Theory
is and what is says about the birth of the cosmos.

There were many people who worked together to come up with the present theory of creation.
Edwin Hubble, Arno Penzias, Robert Wilson and Alan Guth all contributed greatly to the formation
of the Big Bang theory.
Edwin Hubble used his large telescope to see far away stars and galaxies. He knew that the elements
in the stars reflected back specific colors, and you could tell what a star was made of by its color ?
DNA?. Hubble noticed that this pattern had been slightly shifted to the red side of the spectrum,
otherwise called a red shift. He knew, based on the Doppler effect, that a red shift was caused by the
stretched wavelengths of an object moving away from a point. If the galaxies he had observed had
shifted to the red side then it meant that they were moving away from Earth. He also discovered that
the galaxies were moving away from each other, as well.
With these observations in mind, Hubble announced that the universe was expanding. He then came
to this syllogism: If the universe is expanding, then at one point it was smaller. The result of his
postulations was the Big Bang theory.
Another mystery of the universe was the Cosmic Background Radiation (CBR). CBR is made up of

volume. In fact, the theory says nothing like that. Instead, the expansion of the universe is
completely self–contained.
People often have difficulty with the idea that "space itself expands". An easier way to understand

A young man who is a senior in college has the opportunity of a lifetime to conduct research with
professors in Israel on geological fossils for his major in Earth Science. He had never been out of
the United States before and only knew what he had been taught: the big bang theory and evolution.

Big Bang theory from its' rivals. A few decades after the redshift concept was discovered, scientists

After Noah´s mom parked the car we got our stuff and starting walking down the beach until we
found Noah´s cousins. Once we finally found them we setup our towels and set down our bags and
ran into the water. It was absolutely freezing, well; it was lake Michigan. After swimming for about
ten or so minutes we laid out in the sun for about 40 minutes.
When we all got up from our towels Noah had the bright idea of walking about a mile down the

Theory is a scientific theory that explains what might have happened at the very beginning of our
universe and explains how it all started. This theory suggests that our universe began as hot, tiny
particles mixed with light and lots of condensed energy. The focus of the Big Bang theory is to
describe what happened within and after the moment our universe started to expand, but also to
theorise what happened before that. To be perfectly clear, we cannot give a definite answer to this
question. However, scientists have provided many theories to describe what happened before the

These stars burned so hot that they would have emitted both visible light and huge amounts of UV
radiation. This radiation would have been able to break up hydrogen atoms, ending the "dark ages."
However, these super hot stars could not live long enough to produce this effect. They burned hot
and fast, and died after only a million years. The smaller dying stars exploded, shooting material
into space, and the larger stars collapsed to create black holes.

  • 1. The Controvercial Big Bang Theory Have you ever wondered about the start of time? How about the start of the universe? Well, this question has been nagging astronomers and scientists alike for years and years. But in 1927, Georges Lemaitre proposed one of the most controversial theory of all time, the Big Bang. The Big Bang is a theory about the start of the universe. People have talked about it for years and it's very controversial. First, let's start with the theory. The Big Bang was first formed by Georges Lemaitre. He is the first person to actually propose this theory. He also derived "Hubble's Law". Hubble's Law helps estimate the rate of expansion of the universe. The equation is H=v/d where H is Hubble's constant, v is the velocity of the galaxy, and d is the distance from the earth. Even though it seems that he is a 24 hour scientist, he is, however, a Belgian priest. This theory is believed to have created the universe. Its occurrence was estimated to be 13.8 billion years ago. Of course, this is all estimation. No one knows when exactly it happened. Again, people have different beliefs. Now, to further express the above statement that people have different beliefs, there are a lot of different forms of this theory.
