Economic Analysis and Strategies to Increase Spending
Economic analysis 2006 and 2011. The five year benchmarks selected for this analysis do not well
represent the fluctuations in the economy in the interim years, which have been substantial.
Naturally, the fiscal crisis of 2008 to 2010 had deep and enduring impact on the national and global
economies, but the "bookend" years of this analysis effectively obfuscate the volatility resident in
those years. Fiscal year 2008, for instance, the inflation rate reached nearly 5%, the unemployment
rate peaked in 2009, and the interest rate reached 5% in 2007. What this analysis does provide is a
look at the stabilization of the economy without the noise of the intervening fiscal crisis. Through
the monetary policy by The Fed during the fiscal crisis, efforts have been directed at maximizing
employment and price stability. As a result, the interest rate will remain low with no changes
anticipated until 2014. Inflation has stabilized, interest investments are low but gradually increasing,
and the unemployment rate is slowly dropping but is not expected to accelerate.

Strategies to Increase Spending Several strategies were employed briefly in 2009 and 2010 which

How Billing Current Week + 2– Fortnightly Frequency works?
This video will introduce how current week + 2– fortnightly frequency billing cycle works.
Regarding the billing cycle name, obviously, guardians will pay the current fee and the following 2
weeks fee after the current week in advance.
Now, let me tell you the details.
Assume you start on week 0, usually, the child care centre will submit the attendance for the week
just gone, that is to say, the centre will submit week 0 attendance to Government CCMS. Then
CCMS will calculate the CCB, CCR &JFA rebates for week 0 over the weekend. On Saturday on
week 0, guardians will receive the 1st invoice for the payment, and the amount on the invoice is
estimated gap fee (after CCB, CCR& JFA calculation) for the upcoming 3 weeks based on the week

On Monday, the payment gateway provider will deduct the amount on the invoice from guardians'
bank account. Now, guardians have already paid the current week gap fee and the following 2 weeks

into the centre's bank account. On Thursday, the payment gateway provider will pay the week1 to 3
gap fee which is charged on Monday to the centre's bank account. On Friday, the centre will submit
the attendance to CCMS for the week (week 1) just gone again. Then, CCMS will calculate the
week 1 rebates based on the submitted attendance during the weekend. Because guardians are on
fortnightly frequency, they won't receive any invoice on the weekend and they also don't need to

Essay about Customer Life Time Value Model for Syphone
Question 1 What is the lifetime value of a typical customer in each of the four segments, in current
dollar values? Compare these figures to the "Gross margin" figures in the original spreadsheet. What
can you learn from this comparison?
Solution 1
Following are the lifetime value of a typical customer in each of the four segments, in current dollar
values.
Segments / Segment description Customer lifetime value Gross margins
Large accounts $78,454 $63,000
Large accounts, rebate $70,769 $36,000
Small accounts $10,679 $10,800
Small accounts, rebate $10,919 $7,200
Lost customers $0 $0

With a discount factor of 35%, reconsider Question 1. What changes do you notice, in both absolute
and relative terms? In terms of customer value, what is the consequence of focusing on the short
term?
Solution 3
The changes in absolute terms and relative terms are shown in the table below. Segments / Segment
description Gross margins Customer lifetime value at 35%
Customer lifetime value at 10% Relative Reduction in Customer lifetime Value
Large accounts $63,000 $56,291 $78,454 28%
Large accounts, rebate $36,000 $44,878 $70,769 37%
Small accounts $10,800 $8,033 $10,679 25%
Small accounts, rebate $7,200 $7,413 $10,919 32%
Lost customers $0 $0 $0 0%
Customer Life Time Value is higher than the gross margins for the customers that get rebate and the
customers without rebate have Customer Life Time Value which is less than the gross margins. So
what it means is that in short term the margins of the customers who don't get rebate are high and
they are more profitable to the company but in longer term these accounts make losses since the
churn rate for such accounts is quite high in the lower nineties.
This illustration provides the importance of customer loyalty and maintaining least churning of
customers.

whether that customer is offered a rebate. What do you learn from the updated spreadsheet? Explain

My Experience At My Computer Ppc
The start of the simulation I named my computer PPC which stands for Powerful Personal
Computer because businesses want a computer that is powerful and lightweight to complete the job
in a timely manner. Then I picked Mercedes as my first target market and my only priority because I
intend to target the top end of the market with high end business users. Next, for responsibilities, I
made myself as the President–Overall Leadership and VP–Sales Management because I will be
making the overall decisions and decide what position the company will ultimately take. Finally, I
opened a sales office in Chicago–NORAM for multiple reasons, first that area has the most
Mercedes market, second my small office is also in Chicago which will provide me with greater
control, third it seems like a good place to start because it's not too cheap or too expensive and will
churn great profits (right qualities). Subsequently, in Quarter Two I named my brand "Red" because
the color red is associated with fast and the Mercedes market is a market where there is little
compromises. Thus I designed a powerful computer with the available technology to satisfy their
needs, such as high speed computing power, high capacity hard drive, standard networking, 19"
monitor, and an expanded keyboard. While at the same time include office, database, engineering,
and manufacturing software. After completing my computer build, the total component cost is
$1419, thus I priced my "Red" computer at $4000 with a

The Travel Expense Billing Controversy
Introduction Neal A. Roberts, an employee of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) found out that his
employer was earning millions of dollars a year by way of a billing method that he thought was
doubtful. PwC had been collecting large rebates on airline tickets and other travel expenses being
charged as expenses to clients of the firm. These rebates were not being returned to the firm's clients
in the form of savings, but the firm was keeping these rebates for it. This was working, because the
firm would bill the clients for the full price of airline tickets and other travel–related expense, but
privately, the firm negotiated discounts and rebates that they then got at the end of the year based
upon total amounts spent. The clients did not know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The customer's stakes are to get the right service for the money they paid, to get good quality and to
be treated honest and fair. But in this case the customers are not getting the rebates that they should
be rewarded. Furthermore the stakes of the federal government are that the company PwC can pay
the taxes and acts legally and ethically. However, the federal government was not only lied to about
speculations and regulations, but they were also lied to as the customers themselves. Moreover the
stakes of PwC are that they can keep on the market with the other companies, that their employees
are motivated and make a good work, that their company is creditworthy, so in other words liquidity
is given, that they have many customers and good conditions for suppliers. The stakes of the
partners in business are that they want to know how the competitive company PwC is in the market
and how big their market shares are. But the other businesses are getting tarnished. At last the
employee's stakes are to work in a nice working atmosphere, to get fair wages and also to be treated
honest and fair. What is your appraisal of the ethics of the travel expense billing practices described
in the case? What are the ethical arguments for and against them? My appraisal of the ethics of the

Labeling And Generic Medicine : Pricing And Market Share
According to the article "Originator and generic medicine: pricing and market share" the cost of
pharmaceutical drugs accounts for a significant portion of the total health expenditure (Eon Van Der
& Brendenkamp, 2013). Pricing strategies are used to create affordable costs, while also providing
quality for prescription drug management programs. As part of the goals of pricing strategies,
benefit management programs use pharmaceutical benefit managers to negotiate prices, create a
savings out of every component of the benefit program, as well as improve clinical outcomes (Jones,
2003). Pharmaceutical benefit managers are used to administer drug benefits on behalf of health
plans, and employers (Congressional Budget Office, 2007). The article "Developing an effective
generic prescription drug program" by John Jones, discusses a variety of pricing strategies that are
offered by pharmaceutical benefit managers. Additionally, the pricing strategy personally
recommended by the author will be discussed. Pharmaceutical benefit managers (PBMs) use a
variety of pricing strategies to charge employers for prescription drugs. Among these pricing
strategies are implementing generic drug programs. The article "Developing an effective generic
prescription drug program" states that the use of comprehensive generics program can considerably
decrease prescription drug costs, control utilization, and play a major role in helping to improve
overall patient outcomes (Jones, 2003). The article

Texas Tax Rebates
There is no doubt that Texas's state government is one of the most conservative in the nation on both
an economic and social level. As a governing body Texas has fought to deregulate itself on the bases
that a weak government translates to strong personal liberties. The political culture of the state is
apparent to all who live there. However, in recent history Texas has proven to be a solid competitor
when offering tax rebates to filmmakers and videogame creators who produce their content in the
state. These rebates refund some of the production costs and are widely considered to be beneficial
to employment within the state's entertainment and tourism industry (Weed). Sadly, in 2015 Texas
lawmakers cut the previously impressive budget for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument comes from the fiscally conservative mindset, arguing that using taxpayer money for
non–necessities, like film is wasteful. However, this view overlooks that the state's rebate program
exists as an investment that the state will eventually make profit on in the form of economic growth
through employment. The legislation providing such rebates likely would never have existed in the
first place if it were not economically beneficial to the state. Additionally, providing rebates is more
likely to attract production of the benefit films that have tighter budgets and have trouble breaking
even, rather than the stereotypical big budget films, meaning that rebates could mean the difference
of a production company moving forward with riskier films or not. The Hollywood welfare
argument is a politically expedient one because of the way Hollywood is viewed politically in
present day American culture. Many on America's rightwing view Hollywood as a big elitist
organization with a liberal political agenda. Rhetoric like "Hollywood welfare" truly is a
representation of the divisive nature of modern times. Schimmel writes in an essay regarding
rhetoric that "language affects our perception and understanding of social and political realities,
irrespective of how accurately it reflects them." Conservative state politicians have capitalized on
the preconditioned distrust conservatives have toward Hollywood paired with the negative
connotations that the political right has associated with welfare has led to film tax incentives taking
major blows, especially in predominantly conservative

However, Stanway and McIntosh believed that the R&Q's estimates were too high. As a result, they
demanded that the group add "below–the–line" items to reduce the amount of warranty liabilities
that the company would have to report on its financial statements. The issue with this is that the
additional items embedded into the calculation were not supported by any evidence. These items
included anticipated engineering improvements that had no evidence of actually decreasing the
amount of claims, and vendor reimbursements for warranty claims even though these arrangements
were usually not specified in the contractual agreements with vendors.[4] With these new reductions
to estimated warranty liabilities, the estimation no longer followed GAAP since it included potential
reductions in future warranty costs that were not backed by any evidence. Rebates As reported in the
SEC's litigation filing, improper recognition of rebates as revenue accounted for $9.7 million of
Navistar's pre–tax income misstatement in 2004 and $8.5 million in 2003. The company's rebate
transactions involved the participation of several key figures in the Engine Division. Akers, the
Director of Purchasing, was the first to suggest using rebates to inflate revenue. McIntosh, CFO,
would help Akers negotiate and draft the letters for the rebates, and Stanway would approve

Comparison Of The Article 'Dignity And Dreams'
Introduction The question of concern in the article, Dignity and Dreams (Sykes, 2015), was whether
the Earned Income Tax Credit [EITC] provided families with enough support to progress financially
just over the poverty line. While This was an important focus there was a The emphasis on how the
family respectfully and discreetly received the money was also an active factor. Likewise, in the
second article, Bonus or Rebate? (Epley, 2006), there was a concern about a consumer's reluctant
choice to spend a check depending on its label. They specifically tracked spending patterns of
consumers receiving either a Rebate (a loss) check or a bonus (a gain) check and documented
whether they spent a larger portion of the check or saved more of it. ... Show more content on

Or would the recipients spend a surplus of money if thought to be a bonus check? Sykes (2015) had
found that families felt a relief from financial stress when it came to receiving their yearly lump sum
from the government. They were able to pay back many of their debts, just as a responsible family
should. This allowed them to enhance the amount of consumption they were given leeway for. Such
as toys or brand name foods. For families in Welfare who were given limited room to grow, EITC
left enough money to lift dreams off the ground and making it possible for families to invest in their
futures. All of these factors made it easier for the families to feel a sense of citizenship. Social
inclusion plays a larger factor than once thought. Using government programs like SNAP (food
stamps) ostracized people in public areas; making it difficult to feel proud or in a sense "normal". I
strongly believe that this article found what they set out to look for. The results clearly show that
EITC gave low wage families a sense of dignity, but since the population interviewed and tracked
was so small it's difficult to believe that all families in the same program live entirely the same. The
lurking variables consisted of past programs impeding on the behavior of present recipients in the
EITC program. These past programs have altered the way of thinking for some people. The

Need Replacement Windows? Why You Should Select Vinyl
When your home's windows are in need of replacement, you'll need to make a decision about what
type of windows will go in their place. You don't need to replace a window with the exact same kind
that was there previously, so you can ditch the wood windows and go with something more
practical. Vinyl windows may not have the same aesthetics of wood windows, but they can provide
many benefits that make them the better choice in the end.

Vinyl Windows Are Eligible For Rebates
When purchasing new windows, many homeowners forget to factor in the rebates that they can
expect to receive for this home upgrade. Vinyl windows do qualify for tax credits and rebates, since
the window will be energy efficient. The tax credit and rebate you receive depends on if the
windows have additional insulation and how many panes of glass are in them. If you are not sure,
ask your window contractor if they know which windows will offer the best rebates and tax
incentives.
Vinyl Windows Are Maintenance Free
Many homeowners love vinyl windows because the material requires very little maintenance over
the years. There is no need to sand and paint the material like with wood, and the most that needs to
be done is to clean the material when it gets dirty. That said, you cannot change the color of vinyl
windows, which means you have to put some thought into the color you select before they are

Couponing Should Be Banned Essay
Couponing is a smart method to save money. While couponing is a great way to save money, is it
fair? Couponing takes a lot of time and most people choose not to bother and end up paying a higher

discrimination is a factor at play when it comes to couponing. Customer rebates are another
questionable practice we will discuss as we delve into this topic of price discrimination, price

and not everyone has the time to save the money they would like, and a person could say that this is
an unfair practice. Coupons are a very effective way to price discriminate. Customers who are very
responsive to price changes – that is, customers with a very elastic demand – are likely to take time
to find coupons that effectively lower the good's price. On the other hand, customers less responsive
to price changes because of their less elastic demand aren't as likely to take the time to find coupons.
Graham, R. J. (n.d.). Going under the assumption that only people who absolutely need to save

who can clip coupons, it is just discriminatory as to who will actually do it. I, personally, should use

The policy analysis, The Design and Implementation of Policies to Protect Low–Income
Households under a Carbon Tax, discusses the possible implementation and ramifications of a
climate rebate as a part of carbon tax legislation. More specifically, how this rebate would safeguard
low– and moderate–income families or individuals from a reduction in disposable income they
would incur from larger energy charges due to a carbon tax.
It is recommended that a three–pronged delivery mechanism be applied through the usage of
existing systems where they can deliver payments to many of the low–income households. This
delivery mechanism would require: 1) a refundable tax credit for those filing federal tax returns; 2)
rebates to federal recipients such as lower–income seniors and those that rely on Social Security and

Taking a Look at Vertex
Vertex claims the inventory costs of VLite are high, therefore tying practice is required to enhance
sales of VLite. It is indisputable that the Commission recognizes pro–competitive effects of tying,
such as lowering manufacturing or distribution costs by economies of scale, which is found to be
important in this industry. According to para. 30 of the Guidance, Vertex has to prove that the tying
is indispensible to achieve the same efficiencies. Also, following Hilti Vertex needs to show that it
has taken other actions if possible in order to lower the inventory costs. Given such a high standard
of proof, it is very likely that Vertex would be found violated the Article 102(d) by contractual tying.
1. Conditional Rebate Scheme
Vertex introduced standardized and individualized target rebates to distributors in the Western
Europe. Target rebates may not be problematic if they are indeed genuine quantity–based, but a
target rebate may be found abusive if it limits the buyer's freedom to choose (Michelin I).
Nonetheless, rebate schemes may result in suction effect – the dominant firm lowers the average
price of its products and captures contestable sales which the firm was unable to capture before.
Vertex offered two largest distributors in the market rolled–back target rebates. Under this scheme,
rebates were applied to the total turnover previously realized over a certain period. The court has
been harsh in treating rebates without fully considering the theory of harm of

Intel Case Study Essays
Case Study Intel's "rebates" and Other Ways It "Helped" Customers
In your judgment is Intel a "monopoly"? Did Intel use monopoly–like power, in other words, did
Intel achieve its objectives by relying on power that it had due to its control of a large portion of the
market? Explain your answers.
In my judgment Intel did react like a monopoly. Pure monopoly exists when a single firm is the sole
producer of a product for which there are no close substitutes. The characteristics of a monopoly are
a single seller, unique product no substitutions, the firm is the price maker and entry and exits are
blocked. In this case study there were several evidence that Intel attempted to create a monopoly.
First, Intel developed and patented a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In your view, did Intel violate either of the two key sections of the Sherman Antitrust Act?
The Sherman Antitrust Act is a competition law passed by Congress in 1890. It prohibits certain
business activities that reduce competition in the marketplace, and requires the United States federal
government to investigate and pursue trusts, companies, and organizations suspected of being in
violation. It was the first Federal statute to limit cartels and monopolies, and today still forms the
basis for most antitrust litigation by the United States federal government. Section 1 states contract,
combination or conspiracy, in restraint of trade or commerce among the several states, or foreign
nations is hereby declared illegal. Intel did not break Section 1 of the Sherman Act because the
company did not prohibit competing companies from making agreements to fix prices, to divide up
territories or customers, or to restrict the quantity of goods they bring to the market. Section 2 of the
Sherman Act states every person who shall monopolize or attempt to monopolize or combine or
conspire with any other person or persons to monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among
the several states, or with foreign nations, shall be deemed guilty of a felony. Intel did violate

Epipen Case Analysis
If Mylan is required to reclassify EpiPen as a brand name drug from prior years, then the total
amount of rebates Mylan owes can be calculated at 23.1 percent of net sales, plus the inflation
rebate since they started selling the drug in 2007, minus the amount they have already paid. So, from
2011 – 2015 the company had net sales of $1,294,716,260 according to Slavitt's letter, which
includes both Medicaid and Medicare Part D. To calculate the rebates, the amount of all combined
revenue from EpiPen sales to the government needs to be estimated. For 2011 through 2015, that is
provided by Slavitt's letter. For 2016, an estimate of $450 million can be used since Mylan
introduced a generic in the middle of December of last year. For 2008 – 2010, ... Show more content

According to the KFF article, Medicare and Medicaid spending on each EpiPen increased from $71
in 2007 to $466 in 2015 (from Slavitt's letter), or 656%. This is clearly much higher than the
inflation rate of roughly 20% over the last 10 years (i.e. prices are now 20% higher than they were
10 years ago). This means that the government is entitled to the vast majority of the $1,879,976,260
that is owed minus the rebates already paid. The rebates Mylan paid can be inferred from Slavitt's
letter: "From 2011 through 2015, total Medicaid spending on EpiPen was $960 million, increasing
from $66 million in 2011 to $365 million in 2015. After rebates, net Medicaid spending over this
five–year period was approximately $797 million..." So, it looks like Mylan has already paid $960
million – $797 million = $163 million in rebates. Subtracting this amount from $1,879,976,260
yields $1,716,976,260. For 2016, Mylan also probably paid a rebate of 13%. So, assuming that was
on $450 million, that would come to $58.5 million. Subtracting this amount from $1,716,976,260
gives $1,658,476,260. So, it looks like Mylan owes just under $1.66 billion for the EpiPen rebates
and this amount is before any penalties are

Essay about Ccpc

Consumer Cleaning Products (CCPC) is a public manufacturing company with a calendar year the
same as the fiscal year. CCPC's supply chain consists of :
CCPC introduced a new product September 1, 2009 called Fresh & Bright. Part of CCPC's
marketing campaing was to "drop" appromixamatly 500,000 coupons in the Sunday newspaper
where Fresh & Bright was sold. The coupon worked in the following way:
The 500,000 coupons could be used through October 1, 2010. CCPC has data one six month
coupons for other products but does not have any data on one year coupons for detergent. CCPC

When CCPC sells the detergent to the wholersales and recognizes that revenue they should also be

Analysis of issue 3: What is the dollar amount of the effect of the Fresh & Bright coupon drop on
CCPC's financial statement?
CCPC released approximately 500,000 coupons that will expire in one year to promote new
detergent product. As CCPC has not offered coupons on detergent and coupons with a one–year
expiration date before, it does not have any data to make reasonable and reliable estimation of
redemption rate. CCPC should recognize the maximum potential amount of the rebate, which is
equal to $1 million ($2 * 500,000 coupons), as deferred revenue or liability. Per ASC 605–50–25–4:

Explain Three Ways To Reduce The Cost Of Buying A New Home
Three Ways to Reduce the Cost of Buying a New Home Through Builder Incentives
There are many great advantages to buying a new home versus a pre–owned home. But they do tend
to cost more, and the location is limited. Although there is not much that can be done about where
the new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home
down. Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you
can do this.
New home purchase rebates
Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates.
Sometimes it's due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or
even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them are
related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission,
and share it with the home buyer. The way this works varies. Sometimes it can be a reduction in
closing costs, but it can also be a cash amount paid to you. In this case, it will be the real estate
agent that pays you the rebate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will sometimes do this for the slower moving homes in a new tract. Often these are the homes
that didn't have some of the options other homes in the same tract had. In order to sell these homes,
they may offer free upgrades for one or two features. This will add value to the home without an
increase in the home's price tag. Examples of these upgrades include a skylight, appliance upgrades,

The Economic Stimulus Act Of 2008
Phase One
Introduction
The Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 was intentionally supposed to re–energize the economy from a
recession that occurred from 2001–2004. This paper will dive in further to explain the economic
policies core provisions and the market failure it was intended to correct.
2008 Recession
At the end of the recession from 2001–2004, a period that no economic growth, the Federal Reserve
recommend that interest rates stay as low as possible. The idea behind this thought was that lower
interest rates would attract people to investment in housing, business loans and other areas of
economic growth. The idea worked, as more and more potential homeowners entered the market,
brought in by the perception that they could afford to pay monthly mortgage rates. However, in
2004, the price of oil started to rise, and the Fed responded by gradually increasing interest rates
(Beese, 2008).
Home owners were caught off guard by the change in interest rates. Many people were already in
debt from the previous recession by taking out home equity loans to keep them afloat. Many of
which had now taken out subprime loans (which are loans offered to people with poor credit) from
eager lenders and backed by the government.
Financial institutions did little stop subprime lending, the popularity of these types of loans kept
growing, and lending companies took quantity of loans over quality which added to the so called
"housing bubble" (Burry, 2010). Financial institutions didn't

The Freedom Of School Choice Essay
In a nation founded upon freedom, the liberty to choose the institution from which you get your
education should be a greater concern in Pennsylvania. Our nation has prided itself upon its legacy
of liberty, as well as the many opportunities it has been able to provide for its citizens. And yet our
government has been continuously denying us one very important freedom that all in America
should have, the freedom of school choice. You would think that more people would be concerned
with this infringement upon human rights. While our government is striving to give more "freedom"
to homosexuals who desire marriage and to women who do not want to deal with the human being
that they helped to create, it is ignoring or suppressing the cries for liberty from those who desire the
religious freedom to educate their children in the way they believe they should be educated. Because
of the support that the government gives public schools using tax dollars and government subsidies,
parents find it too difficult financially to place their children in religious private schools, secular
private schools, or even charter schools.
Also, the government has arranged public schools in such a way as to make it difficult for parents to
put their children in a school that meets their standards of education. Many public schools are
dropping their academic standards as well as losing their ethical standards altogether. Thus many
parents do not want to put their children in a school where they do not

Rebates are often referred to as "agency volume bonification" which is defined as an agency's
receipt of a volume discount or compensation from media buys that is not necessarily passed on to
the client (Bruell, 2012). 1.1. Successfulness of Rebates Successful discount or rebate programs can
empower an organization. A successful rebate program must have a perceived notion of value in
order to attract consumers. Rebate programs typically work best with durable goods and higher
ticket items. If the value of the rebate is considered high, then the chances of redemption will be
undoubtedly greater (Dennin, 2012). In a competitive business environment, incentives such as
rebates can provide a business with a much needed sales advantage. Rebates can increase customer
satisfaction, build customer loyalty, and encourage customers to try new products. There are many
factors that can affect the success rate of a rebate program (Inmar, 2011). Inmar suggests that these
factors indeed affect the success rate of a rebate program: The value of a rebate; The time and effort
required to redeem the rebate; The complexity of the rebate requirements; The consumer's previous
experience with rebates; The brand's presence It is reported that almost 50% of retailers and 48% of
manufacturers use rebates programs as part of their customer loyalty and promotions mix (Group,

Financial Crisis During World War II
uction The "Great Recession," the name given to the financial crisis that occurred in the United
States between 2007 and 2009, saw the biggest contraction of the US economy since World War II
(Amadeo). Real GDP fell as sharply as a –6.4% annual rates and unemployment rose above ten
percent in the aftermath of the crisis. The primary culprit of the Great Recession was the US housing
market. New financial instruments that allowed for lending to subprime customers, along with
deregulation of the banking industry, and asymmetric information produced by credit agencies all
played significant roles in these happenings. Moral hazard on behalf of financial product providers
ultimately led to the asymmetric information that allowed the housing market to collapse. Every
time we feel the onset of a recession or the economy starts to slow down, the government looks to
restore the economic growth through different stimulus plans. The recession of 2008 was one
example. When the housing bubble burst it caused panic with quick financial fallout, "the
government took immediate measure to stimulate the economy back to normal and to restore
confidence in the economic market" (Mitchell). Congress approved the Economic Stimulus Package
in 2008 that the Bush Administration put together. "The package eliminated taxes on the first $6,000
of taxable income for individuals and the first $12,000 of income for couples. A rebate check was
mailed out to taxpayers, in amounts as follows" (Amadeo):

Carbon Tax Persuasive Essay
The new carbon tax which was implemented in 2017 will be doing great things for the environment.
The government of Alberta website stated that they will be using 6.2 billion dollars to help the
environment. Some of the money will be going to wind farms, solar panels, and other
environmentally friendly infrastructure. The carbon levy will help ease the change from coal and gas
energy to more environmentally friendly energy sources. In addition; the tax will cover 78–90% of
Alberta carbon emissions and in a couple of years when the environmentally friendly infrastructure
is in place we can expect that number to go up. If everybody was fully educated about all of the
benefits of the carbon tax then almost nobody would be against it. But since all Albertans have heard
is that it will cost them money they have been against it. Just as the carbon tax may be taking money

Loyalty Program Trends Within Retail
Loyalty Program Trends in Retail A loyalty program is a reward based program that is offered by a
company to their customers who make purchases frequently. Loyalty programs have been known to
gain customers more coupons, exclusive access to certain sales, free promotions, and much more.
Many different organizations and stores have created different types of loyalty programs for their
customers over the years. These programs are important to prospective customers in gaining their
loyalty so that they may shop at their store as opposed to another local competitor. Having various
stores with these programs is also beneficial to the customer because stores are constantly
competing against each other. Stores over the years, especially during holiday seasons, are always
trying to outdo their competitors to get you the lowest price possible and them the most sales. Many
stores have now introduced price match where you can bring in a local competitor 's ad and they will
honor the same price in their store. This is a great way to bring in customers because the price is no
problem if it is easily adjusted. Stores that you go to every day such as Target, Walmart, Kmart,
BestBuy and Toys R Us all offer price match all year round. Typically with most of these stores,
there is a 14–day policy that you have to bring in another competitor 's ad to get that price adjusted

Rebate Programs : Rebate Program
Rebate Program
Introduction
There is a need for an increase in sales for your company. The increase in sales can be achieved by
implementing a rebate program. The rebate program will entice your customers to buy the items that
have the rebates as well as other items, because the customer will already be inside of your store.
This will help your company to increase their sales while not having to spend as much money
compared to other strategies.
Background and Goals
The rebate program will entice customers to buy your products. The customers will want to save
money and they will be able to do so by taking part in the rebate program. Also, they will be more
likely to make additional purchases. Additionally, the rebate program can be ... Show more content

For products that are selling horribly, it would be a good idea to make them "free" after completing
the rebate. This is the case because if people are already not likely to buy a product, they may do so
if it is advertised as "free." The upside of this for your company is that they will have to pay
something for that product and may end up not completing the rebate form. For other products such
as new items or items that need a push in sales, the rebate should amount to a couple of dollars.
Now that the items have been selected, the creation of the rebate forms should take place. The rebate
form should be a piece of paper that is used to collect the customers' information as well as proof of
purchase. This rebate form should be available at the store as well as online.
Once all of the steps above have taken place, it is now time to advertise the rebate program. This can
be done by putting an ad in the paper or by simply indicating on the price tag that a product has a
rebate.
Reassessment
After a few months or weeks, it will be necessary to evaluate how the program is going thus far. The
profits that the rebate program is responsible for should be looked at in order to see whether or not
the program is successful. At this time, any changes that are necessary should be made so that the
program keeps evolving and getting better.
Staffing
With the addition of a new rebate program, it will be necessary to create a new

Economic Analysis And Strategies To Increase Spending

  • 1. Economic Analysis and Strategies to Increase Spending Economic analysis 2006 and 2011. The five year benchmarks selected for this analysis do not well represent the fluctuations in the economy in the interim years, which have been substantial. Naturally, the fiscal crisis of 2008 to 2010 had deep and enduring impact on the national and global economies, but the "bookend" years of this analysis effectively obfuscate the volatility resident in those years. Fiscal year 2008, for instance, the inflation rate reached nearly 5%, the unemployment rate peaked in 2009, and the interest rate reached 5% in 2007. What this analysis does provide is a look at the stabilization of the economy without the noise of the intervening fiscal crisis. Through the monetary policy by The Fed during the fiscal crisis, efforts have been directed at maximizing employment and price stability. As a result, the interest rate will remain low with no changes anticipated until 2014. Inflation has stabilized, interest investments are low but gradually increasing, and the unemployment rate is slowly dropping but is not expected to accelerate. U.S. Economy – 2006 U.S. Economy – 2011 Interest rates 4.0% .25% Inflation 3.4% 3.0% Unemployment 4.9% 8.3% Strategies to Increase Spending Several strategies were employed briefly in 2009 and 2010 which produced desirable, but limited results. One was the Cash for Clunkers or Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) bill that gave consumers vouchers for $4500 if they traded in a qualifying clunker for a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. My Experience At My Computer Ppc The start of the simulation I named my computer PPC which stands for Powerful Personal Computer because businesses want a computer that is powerful and lightweight to complete the job in a timely manner. Then I picked Mercedes as my first target market and my only priority because I intend to target the top end of the market with high end business users. Next, for responsibilities, I made myself as the President–Overall Leadership and VP–Sales Management because I will be making the overall decisions and decide what position the company will ultimately take. Finally, I opened a sales office in Chicago–NORAM for multiple reasons, first that area has the most Mercedes market, second my small office is also in Chicago which will provide me with greater control, third it seems like a good place to start because it's not too cheap or too expensive and will churn great profits (right qualities). Subsequently, in Quarter Two I named my brand "Red" because the color red is associated with fast and the Mercedes market is a market where there is little compromises. Thus I designed a powerful computer with the available technology to satisfy their needs, such as high speed computing power, high capacity hard drive, standard networking, 19" monitor, and an expanded keyboard. While at the same time include office, database, engineering, and manufacturing software. After completing my computer build, the total component cost is $1419, thus I priced my "Red" computer at $4000 with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Travel Expense Billing Controversy Introduction Neal A. Roberts, an employee of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) found out that his employer was earning millions of dollars a year by way of a billing method that he thought was doubtful. PwC had been collecting large rebates on airline tickets and other travel expenses being charged as expenses to clients of the firm. These rebates were not being returned to the firm's clients in the form of savings, but the firm was keeping these rebates for it. This was working, because the firm would bill the clients for the full price of airline tickets and other travel–related expense, but privately, the firm negotiated discounts and rebates that they then got at the end of the year based upon total amounts spent. The clients did not know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The customer's stakes are to get the right service for the money they paid, to get good quality and to be treated honest and fair. But in this case the customers are not getting the rebates that they should be rewarded. Furthermore the stakes of the federal government are that the company PwC can pay the taxes and acts legally and ethically. However, the federal government was not only lied to about speculations and regulations, but they were also lied to as the customers themselves. • 14. Labeling And Generic Medicine : Pricing And Market Share According to the article "Originator and generic medicine: pricing and market share" the cost of pharmaceutical drugs accounts for a significant portion of the total health expenditure (Eon Van Der & Brendenkamp, 2013). Pricing strategies are used to create affordable costs, while also providing quality for prescription drug management programs. As part of the goals of pricing strategies, benefit management programs use pharmaceutical benefit managers to negotiate prices, create a savings out of every component of the benefit program, as well as improve clinical outcomes (Jones, 2003). Pharmaceutical benefit managers are used to administer drug benefits on behalf of health plans, and employers (Congressional Budget Office, 2007). The article "Developing an effective generic prescription drug program" by John Jones, discusses a variety of pricing strategies that are offered by pharmaceutical benefit managers. Additionally, the pricing strategy personally recommended by the author will be discussed. Pharmaceutical benefit managers (PBMs) use a variety of pricing strategies to charge employers for prescription drugs. Among these pricing strategies are implementing generic drug programs. The article "Developing an effective generic prescription drug program" states that the use of comprehensive generics program can considerably decrease prescription drug costs, control utilization, and play a major role in helping to improve overall patient outcomes (Jones, 2003). • 16. Texas Tax Rebates There is no doubt that Texas's state government is one of the most conservative in the nation on both an economic and social level. As a governing body Texas has fought to deregulate itself on the bases that a weak government translates to strong personal liberties. The political culture of the state is apparent to all who live there. However, in recent history Texas has proven to be a solid competitor when offering tax rebates to filmmakers and videogame creators who produce their content in the state. These rebates refund some of the production costs and are widely considered to be beneficial to employment within the state's entertainment and tourism industry (Weed). Sadly, in 2015 Texas lawmakers cut the previously impressive budget for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The argument comes from the fiscally conservative mindset, arguing that using taxpayer money for non–necessities, like film is wasteful. However, this view overlooks that the state's rebate program exists as an investment that the state will eventually make profit on in the form of economic growth through employment. The legislation providing such rebates likely would never have existed in the first place if it were not economically beneficial to the state. Additionally, providing rebates is more likely to attract production of the benefit films that have tighter budgets and have trouble breaking even, rather than the stereotypical big budget films, meaning that rebates could mean the difference of a production company moving forward with riskier films or not. The Hollywood welfare argument is a politically expedient one because of the way Hollywood is viewed politically in present day American culture. Many on America's rightwing view Hollywood as a big elitist organization with a liberal political agenda. Rhetoric like "Hollywood welfare" truly is a representation of the divisive nature of modern times. Schimmel writes in an essay regarding rhetoric that "language affects our perception and understanding of social and political realities, irrespective of how accurately it reflects them." Conservative state politicians have capitalized on the preconditioned distrust conservatives have toward Hollywood paired with the negative connotations that the political right has associated with welfare has led to film tax incentives taking major blows, especially in predominantly conservative ... As a result, they demanded that the group add "below–the–line" items to reduce the amount of warranty liabilities that the company would have to report on its financial statements. The issue with this is that the additional items embedded into the calculation were not supported by any evidence. These items included anticipated engineering improvements that had no evidence of actually decreasing the amount of claims, and vendor reimbursements for warranty claims even though these arrangements were usually not specified in the contractual agreements with vendors.[4] With these new reductions to estimated warranty liabilities, the estimation no longer followed GAAP since it included potential reductions in future warranty costs that were not backed by any evidence. Comparison Of The Article 'Dignity And Dreams' Introduction The question of concern in the article, Dignity and Dreams (Sykes, 2015), was whether the Earned Income Tax Credit [EITC] provided families with enough support to progress financially just over the poverty line. While This was an important focus there was a The emphasis on how the family respectfully and discreetly received the money was also an active factor. Likewise, in the second article, Bonus or Rebate? (Epley, 2006), there was a concern about a consumer's reluctant choice to spend a check depending on its label. They specifically tracked spending patterns of consumers receiving either a Rebate (a loss) check or a bonus (a gain) check and documented whether they spent a larger portion of the check or saved more of it. ... Sykes (2015) had found that families felt a relief from financial stress when it came to receiving their yearly lump sum from the government. They were able to pay back many of their debts, just as a responsible family should. This allowed them to enhance the amount of consumption they were given leeway for. Such as toys or brand name foods. For families in Welfare who were given limited room to grow, EITC left enough money to lift dreams off the ground and making it possible for families to invest in their futures. All of these factors made it easier for the families to feel a sense of citizenship. Social inclusion plays a larger factor than once thought. Using government programs like SNAP (food stamps) ostracized people in public areas; making it difficult to feel proud or in a sense "normal". I strongly believe that this article found what they set out to look for. The results clearly show that EITC gave low wage families a sense of dignity, but since the population interviewed and tracked was so small it's difficult to believe that all families in the same program live entirely the same. The lurking variables consisted of past programs impeding on the behavior of present recipients in the EITC program. These past programs have altered the way of thinking for some people. The ... Coupons are a very effective way to price discriminate. Customers who are very responsive to price changes – that is, customers with a very elastic demand – are likely to take time to find coupons that effectively lower the good's price. The policy analysis, The Design and Implementation of Policies to Protect Low–Income Households under a Carbon Tax, discusses the possible implementation and ramifications of a climate rebate as a part of carbon tax legislation. More specifically, how this rebate would safeguard low– and moderate–income families or individuals from a reduction in disposable income they would incur from larger energy charges due to a carbon tax. It is recommended that a three–pronged delivery mechanism be applied through the usage of existing systems where they can deliver payments to many of the low–income households. This delivery mechanism would require: 1) a refundable tax credit for those filing federal tax returns; 2) rebates to federal recipients such as lower–income seniors and those that rely on Social Security and other aids; 3) and rebates though state human services agencies (Stone, 2015). Epipen Case Analysis If Mylan is required to reclassify EpiPen as a brand name drug from prior years, then the total amount of rebates Mylan owes can be calculated at 23.1 percent of net sales, plus the inflation rebate since they started selling the drug in 2007, minus the amount they have already paid. So, from 2011 – 2015 the company had net sales of $1,294,716,260 according to Slavitt's letter, which includes both Medicaid and Medicare Part D. To calculate the rebates, the amount of all combined revenue from EpiPen sales to the government needs to be estimated. For 2011 through 2015, that is provided by Slavitt's letter. For 2016, an estimate of $450 million can be used since Mylan introduced a generic in the middle of December of last year. For 2008 – 2010, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the KFF article, Medicare and Medicaid spending on each EpiPen increased from $71 in 2007 to $466 in 2015 (from Slavitt's letter), or 656%. This is clearly much higher than the inflation rate of roughly 20% over the last 10 years (i.e. prices are now 20% higher than they were 10 years ago). This means that the government is entitled to the vast majority of the $1,879,976,260 that is owed minus the rebates already paid. The rebates Mylan paid can be inferred from Slavitt's letter: "From 2011 through 2015, total Medicaid spending on EpiPen was $960 million, increasing from $66 million in 2011 to $365 million in 2015. After rebates, net Medicaid spending over this five–year period was approximately $797 million..." So, it looks like Mylan has already paid $960 million – $797 million = $163 million in rebates. Subtracting this amount from $1,879,976,260 yields $1,716,976,260. For 2016, Mylan also probably paid a rebate of 13%. So, assuming that was on $450 million, that would come to $58.5 million. Subtracting this amount from $1,716,976,260 gives $1,658,476,260. So, it looks like Mylan owes just under $1.66 billion for the EpiPen rebates and this amount is before any penalties are ... As CCPC has not offered coupons on detergent and coupons with a one–year expiration date before, it does not have any data to make reasonable and reliable estimation of redemption rate. Explain Three Ways To Reduce The Cost Of Buying A New Home Three Ways to Reduce the Cost of Buying a New Home Through Builder Incentives There are many great advantages to buying a new home versus a pre–owned home. But they do tend to cost more, and the location is limited. Although there is not much that can be done about where the new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home down. Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you can do this. New home purchase rebates Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates. Sometimes it's due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them are related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission, and share it with the home buyer. The way this works varies. Sometimes it can be a reduction in closing costs, but it can also be a cash amount paid to you. In this case, it will be the real estate agent that pays you the rebate. ... • 62. The Economic Stimulus Act Of 2008 Phase One Introduction The Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 was intentionally supposed to re–energize the economy from a recession that occurred from 2001–2004. This paper will dive in further to explain the economic policies core provisions and the market failure it was intended to correct. 2008 Recession At the end of the recession from 2001–2004, a period that no economic growth, the Federal Reserve recommend that interest rates stay as low as possible. The idea behind this thought was that lower interest rates would attract people to investment in housing, business loans and other areas of economic growth. The idea worked, as more and more potential homeowners entered the market, brought in by the perception that they could afford to pay monthly mortgage rates. However, in 2004, the price of oil started to rise, and the Fed responded by gradually increasing interest rates (Beese, 2008). Home owners were caught off guard by the change in interest rates. Many people were already in debt from the previous recession by taking out home equity loans to keep them afloat. Many of which had now taken out subprime loans (which are loans offered to people with poor credit) from eager lenders and backed by the government. Financial institutions did little stop subprime lending, the popularity of these types of loans kept growing, and lending companies took quantity of loans over quality which added to the so called "housing bubble" (Burry, 2010). • 64. The Freedom Of School Choice Essay In a nation founded upon freedom, the liberty to choose the institution from which you get your education should be a greater concern in Pennsylvania. Our nation has prided itself upon its legacy of liberty, as well as the many opportunities it has been able to provide for its citizens. And yet our government has been continuously denying us one very important freedom that all in America should have, the freedom of school choice. You would think that more people would be concerned with this infringement upon human rights. While our government is striving to give more "freedom" to homosexuals who desire marriage and to women who do not want to deal with the human being that they helped to create, it is ignoring or suppressing the cries for liberty from those who desire the religious freedom to educate their children in the way they believe they should be educated. Because of the support that the government gives public schools using tax dollars and government subsidies, parents find it too difficult financially to place their children in religious private schools, secular private schools, or even charter schools. Also, the government has arranged public schools in such a way as to make it difficult for parents to put their children in a school that meets their standards of education. Many public schools are dropping their academic standards as well as losing their ethical standards altogether. Thus many parents do not want to put their children in a school where they do not ... Rebates are often referred to as "agency volume bonification" which is defined as an agency's receipt of a volume discount or compensation from media buys that is not necessarily passed on to the client (Bruell, 2012). 1.1. Successfulness of Rebates Successful discount or rebate programs can empower an organization. A successful rebate program must have a perceived notion of value in order to attract consumers. Rebate programs typically work best with durable goods and higher ticket items. If the value of the rebate is considered high, then the chances of redemption will be undoubtedly greater (Dennin, 2012). In a competitive business environment, incentives such as rebates can provide a business with a much needed sales advantage. Rebates can increase customer satisfaction, build customer loyalty, and encourage customers to try new products. There are many factors that can affect the success rate of a rebate program (Inmar, 2011). Inmar suggests that these factors indeed affect the success rate of a rebate program: The value of a rebate; The time and effort required to redeem the rebate; The complexity of the rebate requirements; The consumer's previous experience with rebates; The brand's presence It is reported that almost 50% of retailers and 48% of manufacturers use rebates programs as part of their customer loyalty and promotions mix (Group, 2011). Financial Crisis During World War II uction The "Great Recession," the name given to the financial crisis that occurred in the United States between 2007 and 2009, saw the biggest contraction of the US economy since World War II (Amadeo). Real GDP fell as sharply as a –6.4% annual rates and unemployment rose above ten percent in the aftermath of the crisis. The primary culprit of the Great Recession was the US housing market. New financial instruments that allowed for lending to subprime customers, along with deregulation of the banking industry, and asymmetric information produced by credit agencies all played significant roles in these happenings. Moral hazard on behalf of financial product providers ultimately led to the asymmetric information that allowed the housing market to collapse. Every time we feel the onset of a recession or the economy starts to slow down, the government looks to restore the economic growth through different stimulus plans. The recession of 2008 was one example. When the housing bubble burst it caused panic with quick financial fallout, "the government took immediate measure to stimulate the economy back to normal and to restore confidence in the economic market" (Mitchell). Congress approved the Economic Stimulus Package in 2008 that the Bush Administration put together. "The package eliminated taxes on the first $6,000 of taxable income for individuals and the first $12,000 of income for couples. A rebate check was mailed out to taxpayers, in amounts as follows" (Amadeo): ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Loyalty Program Trends Within Retail Loyalty Program Trends in Retail A loyalty program is a reward based program that is offered by a company to their customers who make purchases frequently. Loyalty programs have been known to gain customers more coupons, exclusive access to certain sales, free promotions, and much more. Many different organizations and stores have created different types of loyalty programs for their customers over the years. These programs are important to prospective customers in gaining their loyalty so that they may shop at their store as opposed to another local competitor. Having various stores with these programs is also beneficial to the customer because stores are constantly competing against each other. Stores over the years, especially during holiday seasons, are always trying to outdo their competitors to get you the lowest price possible and them the most sales. Many stores have now introduced price match where you can bring in a local competitor 's ad and they will honor the same price in their store. This is a great way to bring in customers because the price is no problem if it is easily adjusted. Stores that you go to every day such as Target, Walmart, Kmart, BestBuy and Toys R Us all offer price match all year round. Typically with most of these stores, there is a 14–day policy that you have to bring in another competitor 's ad to get that price adjusted to the lowest price. This gives shoppers the ... For products that are selling horribly, it would be a good idea to make them "free" after completing the rebate. This is the case because if people are already not likely to buy a product, they may do so if it is advertised as "free." The upside of this for your company is that they will have to pay something for that product and may end up not completing the rebate form. For other products such as new items or items that need a push in sales, the rebate should amount to a couple of dollars. Now that the items have been selected, the creation of the rebate forms should take place. The rebate form should be a piece of paper that is used to collect the customers' information as well as proof of purchase. This rebate form should be available at the store as well as online. Once all of the steps above have taken place, it is now time to advertise the rebate program. This can be done by putting an ad in the paper or by simply indicating on the price tag that a product has a rebate.
