The Heart And Vascular Institute
Clinical Specialty Area
The clinical area chosen was the Heart and Vascular Institute through one of the hospital systems I am employed with. I had been involved with a
project that studied the readmissions experienced within the hospital system and established heart failure (HF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary
disorders (COPD) were our highest readmission problems. Our organization had found that millions of dollars had been left on the table since the
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) handed down their final ruling in 2012 regarding reduced payments for preventable readmissions (CMS.gov,
2016).
One of the outcomes of the project was the development of the rapid diuresis unit (RDU) through our Cardiac Decision Units (CDU) at several
campuses. I often wondered how the RDU of the CDU was set up and how they function within the system. This is my opportunity to see the operation
firsthand, the clientele it serves, the staff, and potential education needs that the department faces.
Developing as an Advanced Nurse Educator
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) published report titled The Essentials of Master's Education in Nursing (2011), where the

The Institute Of Medicine ( Iom )
Background Many health care leaders, authors, and professionals have given their time and effort to write and discuss quality. Quality is now
recognized as one of the key aims in healthcare today. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) has had a profound impact on health care in America and the
view of quality within health care facilities. The National Roundtable on Health Care Quality met six different times between 1996 and 1998 to look at
changes regarding quality in health care. Within their conclusion they said, "Serious and widespread quality problems exist throughout American
Medicine" (IOM, 1998). The terms underuse, overuse, and misuse evolved here to describe the errors occurring in health care. These errors were
hurting more patients than the population realized and once published the trust towards healthcare was low and many had questions. Their review at
the roundtable combed through what was currently the norm in health care. Based on the experience of the members of the roundtable, it was not up
to par and a shift was necessary to improve healthcare outcomes. The IOM's report "To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System" shocked the
health care world and made change necessary. "To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System" released information that reported that tens of
thousands of Americans were dying each year from errors (IOM, 1999). Patient safety moved to the forefront in healthcare like never before and
directives were discussed to put quality as a

I Am A Student And Radical Protester At Virginia...
I am currently a student and radical protester at Virginia Polytechnic Institute or "VPI" in the spring of 1970. My purpose of writing to you is to
present a student point of view on the current growing campus unrest at my university due to the anti–war movement and its opposition. I believe that
the United States involvement in the Vietnam war is one huge costly mistake that could have easily been avoided. The war had nothing to do with the
United States originally as Ho Chi Minh, the leader of North Vietnam, was not seeking help from other communist nations and America made what
was going to be just a civil war into something much greater. As a result of this we students have the right to voice our disapproval and express our
opinions in anyway we choose. The reason why I have chosen to be a radical protester is because that is the only way our voices are going to be
heard by President Nixon. Whereas those who consider themselves as "moderate anti–war protesters" are not doing enough to be recognize; The war
supporter are being brainwashed by the government into thinking it 's for the greater good of the nation and are blinded by what is actually happening
overseas; The silent majority are apathetic to an issue that they should care about due to the size of the issue and its effect both on domestic and
foreign fronts.
First, I would like to present a little background information to present the origins of the current problem transpiring at my university for a better

The Art Institute of Chicago Essay
The building at 111 South Michigan Avenue, home of the Art Institute of Chicago, was opened in 1893 as the World's Congress Auxiliary Building for
the World's Columbian Exposition. The building was passed on to the Art Institute after the end of the exposition. Designed in the Beax–Arts style by
Boston firm Shepley, Rutan, and Coolidge, building has become an icon for chicagoans an tourists alike. The Modern Wing, the Art Institute's latest
and largest addition to date, opened on May 16, 2009, and was designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Renzo Piano. The 264,000 square foot
addition now houses the museum's collections of modern European painting and sculpture, contemporary art, architecture and design, and photography.

The main building of the Art Institute is constructed mostly of masonry, with few windows, and feels very heavy and overpowering. Grand
staircases and large columns dwarf visitors as they move through the galleries. This is similar to the way the art in the space makes you feel: small,
unimportant, and sometimes even afraid. The Modern wing in constructed of steel and glass, and is very open and bright (except when intended not
to be). The large north wall facing Millenium Park is one large expanse of windows, letting in plenty of indirect sunlight, and opening the gallery to
the park. The space feels very light, in both senses of the word. As with the old building, the art feels similar to the space in that it is more open and
less opressive. The two buildings also differ in the way they interact with the city, since they have vastly differing neighbors. The main building is
centered on Adams street and faces the Loop, the busiest area of the city. Flanking the main entrance are two large, bronze, lions that seem to protect
the building from the city, while still allowing visitors to enter and exit the museum. The new Modern Wing, however, facesChicago's Millenium Park.
The face of the building along the park side is a large face of windows. So, while the old building is trying to shut out the city to create a space for
itself, the Modern Wing is opening itself up to let the park

Van Gogh stares at guests with such solemn eyes that seem to be all colors at once. Claude Monet takes you to the French country side that are
covered in swaying pastures of yellow wildflowers and haystacks. The relaxed posed of Renoir's nude female models shows the realistic ideas the
impressionism artists had for the future of art. They painted the true colors of the world around them and present them to us as we pass through the
hallways. There is a muffled quietness in the exhibit as everyone observes the sound the paintings reflect as though trying to here the gentle breeze in
Monet's painting of water lilies. Everyone gathers to gaze at George Seurat's meticulous work that covers an expansive wall which barely contains the
impressive effort. Cameras flash trying to capture the unique and awe–inspiring talent and dedication that made Seurat famous but none are able. No

The Black Of The Tuskegee Institute
Black educators began to increase their involvement in political culture in Haiti through advocacy and education. American educators R.R. Moton and
W.T.B Williams of the Tuskegee Institute sought more black involvement in U.S.
–Haitian relations. Moton served as Booker T. Washington's successor
at the Tuskegee Institute. He felt a duty to continue Washington's vision of industrial education for blacks and sought to extend the Tuskegee model
into Haiti. He urged President Harding to include blacks on his "investigation body" declaring he could "suggest colored men who would in no way
embarrass the administration." Moton fell short; Harding did not appoint a black American to the body. However, Moton left an indelible mark on
Washington.
The Department of State invited Moton to an "independent trip to Haiti", but he could not attend; Williams replaced him. In a confidential letter,
Secretary of State Charles Evans Hughes discussed the prospect of Williams' trip with General Russell, Hughes remarked that Williams needed the
approval of President Borno to determine whether he would be an "acceptable" replacement for Moton, worthy of the Haitian government. Hughes
continued and claimed "Haitians prefer a white man to a Negro for work in Haiti as the former has more influence and authority." His confidential
statement alluded to the lack of Black political presence in Haiti and the repudiation of Black political presence in Haiti. However, it also highlighted
that the Harding

Kumon Educational Institute
Final Case Study – Kumon Educational Institute USA
Upon careful review and analysis of the current situation of the Kumon Institute USA it is clear that there are several problems that should be
addressed in order for Kumon Institute to succeed in the US market. Although Kumon has been in existence in the US for 10 years now, you have still
not implemented a corporate global strategy which will allow for success in the US. You're currently operating in the same manner as is the Japanese
operations, and as a result the same business level strategy that worked in Japan will not provide the same results in the US. Any company seeking

To date Kumon has operated with the program unchanged from the Japanese business model and this is clearly not conducive to the US educational
system. The US educational system is a much more rewards based system used to motivate the students to work and to improve the students self
discipline therefore, if Kumon is indeed determined to grow market share outside of the Asian American culture it will be important to understand what
works to motivate and encourage self discipline here in the US. In addition, the change to family culture necessary for the Kumon program's success
should also be considered with the consultant as this is an area where commitment is hard to maintain due to different lifestyles, whereby both parents
often work long hours outside the home and will have a difficult time committing to the demands placed on them by the Kumon program. Depending
on the direction determined, for example will Kumon focus on just the Asian population, or will they conduct a full national campaign. So, now in
place is a vision and strategy, so in order to make this vision reality Kumon must implement the strategy through the use of marketing and advertising
campaign that will build awareness of Kumon, appeal to it's target consumer. In addition, they should focus on gaining the respect of local teachers so
that they can assist in word of mouth campaign. With that in mind, I

Institute of Contemporary Art
Institute of Contemporary Art
"How do you make a building for contemporary art that stays contemporary in the future without stooping to a neutral language? And how do you
attract a big public without compromising the selfish, private, exclusive time we all want to have in a museum?" These questions, put forward by
Elizabeth Diller of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, represent the urbanistic motivation supporting the construction of Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art
(ICA). In such a manner Boston's ICA engages, not only with the urban citizen, but also the urban landscape in which the site is located. The ICA
conveys the idea of architecture as art in itself. As a presenter of art to the urban citizen and because of its open design, the inside allows the citizens to
not only appreciate the art within the building but also see the art of the building's natural environment and setting.
Boston's ICA situated at Fan Pier in South Boston represents a shift from preconceived architectural constructs to more innovative forms. The
building's position in the middle of a currently undeveloped urban landscape gives it a striking entity that engages the viewer in a way that facilitates its
various functions as a contemporary art museum. Furthermore its structure and location alter the population's understanding of museum architecture as
it has traditionally been defined, that it is a "shell" that contains significant artistic work. A visual paradox becomes evident between

Secondary school student performance system (SSSPS) is a platform which is a support to educational, encouraging student, parent and school
interaction. It improves the accessibility of student information, as well as significantly increases space for communication between students, parents
and teachers. The aim of this is to increase parental awareness of school on–going processes and to facilitate the preparation of reports and it structures
the progress of individual student.
One of the school I conducted my research is Jitegemee Secondary School, in which the findings show that they provide task such as student admission,
capturing student attendance, producing report card, producing official transcript manually and the school teachers uses their knowledge in scheduling
classes and subjects preparing timetable which wastes much time and energy.
By automating SSSPS documents that can take large space or many rooms to store the documents can be stored on few disks, transcript retrieval will
be easy it won't take much time. Taking student attendance will be easy, it will generate report card and record all information of student.

recommendations. I say class recommendations because sometimes situations will occur where a trained medical person has been taught if this occurs
here is how to approach the situation. For instance, here in Detroit the medical staff have been exposed to people that are in need of medical attention
after being shot. Yes, it is a stressful situation, but they do receive training in a classroom to help them through that situation, but most of the
experience comes with on the job training working within the "team" of staff working on the trauma. The concept can be taught, but having a mock
training for the situation helps too, which will lead to the person knowing what to do in the situation. Consequently, since the person knows what to do
in the situation they can develop a rapport with the patient, thus making the patient feel as if they were treated well by the staff. In addition, my example

Implementation Of The Institute Of Medicine
Implementation of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Future of Nursing Report Introduction The focus of this paper is based on the importance of the
IOM report on the "Future of Nursing" in relation to nursing practice, workforce development and the nursing education. The standard of practice
coupled with professional accountability in addition to professional development forms the foundation for the nursing profession as it continues to
evolve with the ever–changing needs of those they serve, be it the patient, the public, health care team members, or the nursing profession. Standards
of practice are the "what" and describe a competent level of nursing care while Standards of professional performance are the "how" of nursing
(Cresaia & Friberg, 2010). Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Committee Initiative and IOM Research Report The IOM in collaboration with
RWJF launched a two–year initiative in an effort or with an agenda to transform the nursing profession. The IOM's major agenda is to "serve as
adviser to the nation to improve health" (IOM, 2010). The IOM is highly recognized by the legislature and very powerful as well. With the consensus of
the committee, the four major recommendations were that: –"Nurses should practice to the full extent of their education and training. –Nurses should
achieve higher levels of education and training through an improved education system that promotes seamless academic progression. –Nurses should

Torrey Honors Institute
My ethnographic research paper is about Biola University's Torrey Honors Institute. I decided to research on this topic because I am really interested in
this liberal honors program and in Torrey students' academic life. I noticed that most Biola students do not know much about Torrey students. Normal
Biola students will stereotyped Torrey students and consider them to be intellectual elitists, since the Torrey program is an honors program. Therefore, I
wanted to do research on Torrey Honors Institute not only because of my interest, but also because I want to reveal what is the program truly like in
order to prove my viewpoints to my audience. My ethnographic research paper effectively introduces Torrey Honors Institute and reveals Torrey...

For example, from the online research, I noticed that Torrey students have a heavy workload, since they need to read about fifteen ancient literature per
semester. When I was writing about the interviews, the quotes of my interviewees show Torrey student's perspective directly to my audience. During
the observation, each Torrey student shows their passion of literature and their desire of learning lessons from literature. This ethnographic research
project was challenging because it was my first time preparing and doing actual interviews by myself. It was also my first time to observe in a
Torrey session. Nevertheless, the process of the research is successful, and I am really glad that I did all the research on Torrey program since this is

Summary Of The Institute Of Gaius And The Institutes Of...
During the decline of the Roman Empire, control over the development of law slowly left the hands of the Jurists and come under the complete control
of the Emperor. The Institutes of Gaius and The Institutes of Justinian are two notable legal textbooks written approximately at the beginning and the
end of this process. As legal summaries, these texts may be useful sources to identify major changes in Roman law, more specifically concerning the
laws of obligations, during that period. Analyses of the changes between the laws of obligations The Institutes of Gaius and The Institutes of Justinian
are few and far between, much less in their historical context. A total of two pages is devoted to a comparison between the textbooks in a guide... Show

Tomkins does not go in depth about any of the differences between the books. Conversely, a very specific subsection of obligations are examined by
Olivia Robinson in her article Justinian's Institutional Classification and the Class of the Quasi Delict. She starts by clarifying that a quasi–delict is a
subset of obligations and arguing that the quasi–delict is an imaginary idea created for the purpose of keeping "a nice symmetry" of four categories.
Robinson points out inconsistencies in Justinian's descriptions of other subsections of obligations and other instances where substance was sacrificed
for this symmetry. In this section, Robinson refers several times to places in which Justinian either follows Gaius' example or breaks from it. She
concludes with an analysis of the quasi–delict and legal arguments for as to why it does not exist. Robinson concedes that the quasi–delict in Justinian's
system of using four subcategories of ideas likely makes it easier to teach legal concepts. The article is much longer and more detailed than the section
in Tomkins' book. However, its main focus is proving that the quasi–delict is a non–sensical category rather than the differences between Gaius' and
Justinian's Institutes, which is what Tomkins concentrates on. Dalzell Chalmers and Lionel Barnes compare Justinian's and Gaius' Institutes in a
chapter of their book, Student's Guide to Roman Law (Justinian and Gaius). In this chapter, the purpose is to summarize

The Art Institute Of Chicago
Next time you are walking through the Art Institute of Chicago I would highly recommend a visit to the Gift of Edlis|Neeson Collection, located on
the second floor, gallery 292A. Here you will find a tantalizing array of modern day contemporary art that delivers a sensory overload wherever you
turn. Nestled in between the copiousness of talent you will find three offerings from a prominent living contemporary artist called Jasper Johns titled
Alphabet (1959), Figure 4 (1959), and Target (1961). Although at times his work faced rejection from the critics of individualism of abstract
expressionists his life's journey sculptured his path to who he is as a person and who he has become as a modern day renowned contemporary artist.
In 1958, gallery owner Leo Castelli discovered Johns while visiting the Rauschenberg 's studio. This was an important time in Johns art career as his
"style" had started to settle more into contemporary art due to his personal relationship with Robert Rauschenberg. According to The Society for
Contemporary Art "Castelli gave him his first solo show. It was here that Alfred Barr, the founding director of New York 's Museum ofModern Art,
purchased four works from this show. In the latter part of the 1950's, Jasper Johns arose as the shinning star in the American art scene" (Wildfire
Media 2015). His paintings of maps, flags, and targets led the artistic community away from Abstract Expressionism toward a new emphasis of
Neo–Dada and Pop Art. Today, as

Fit with the Environment
Strategic design is a fundamental task of organizational life. Jim Goodnight, the co–founder of SAS designed his organizational structure in a unique
way that made his company stand apart from the rest. Since founded in 1976, they had been using the same organizational design. But with such an
organizational structure, the big question lies whether SAS can retain its employees and customers forever.
One of the key systemic factors in SAS institute's success was that they valued "Customer Satisfaction and Feedback" more. ... Show more content on

10) Who would not want to work in such a company where there is a lot of freedom and fun work environment? That's why employee retention rate
was very high for SAS Institute.
Just like any other company, Senior Managers gave orientation on the company history and vision to new employees to motivate them. They later
received a lot of technical training too. David Russo had an interesting theory of performance management: "give people the tools to do their job and
then get out of the way." (The SAS Institute, 1998: HR–6, pg. 11) The company believed in its employees and went on to develop several new products.
An SAS database was maintained because people changed careers three to four times and SAS made sure that those changes happen within that
company. In this way too, they never let go their talented employees.
Power in the System
SAS had a "flat and informal" organizational structure. The company had three or four levels and totally 27 units that reported directly to Jim
Goodnight. Goodnight noted" My general management style is to let people manage their own departments and divisions with as little interference
from me as possible" (The SAS Institute, 1998: HR–6, pg. 12).
"Bottom–up" decision management philosophy was followed in SAS. Customer and employee feedback lead to many new product innovations.
Internal promotion and employee referral were prominent in SAS.

slows down your heart rate. Next Corey got a new daphnia and added a drop of cathine. This time the heart rate went up because cathine raises your
heart rate. After we finished studying the daphnia Cory showed me around the office more. He showed me some of the things the students there learn.
He showed me some of their drawings, projects, and reports. They have three groups of students who come in twice a week after school. The students

Contrasting worlds, similar stories. One way which dystopian authors take an idea to an extreme, to highlight issues within our own society. And to
warn future generations.
Discrimination is prominent throughout both 'Northern Lights' and 'The Institute'. In 'Northern Lights' children are kidnapped by a scientific church
agency known as the general obligation board. The agency then goes on to conduct secret experiments on the children, adding to the more sinister
atmosphere as it dehumanises them. Discrimination is also shown, in 'Northern Lights' as the people are cast into different distinct groups within
society, which define, to an extent, who they are. And the people of different groups... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
'The Institute' is set in a futuristic world, which has recently recovered from a deadly virus, which caused the defects, and also wiped out most of the
population. In contrast 'Northern Lights' appears to be set in a different world completely, where modern science clashes with modern society. this
clash shows how if some parts of society develop at a different pace to others we may end up with a world where everyone lives in a different time.
This may also spark some of the conflict that goes on in 'Northern Lights', as people, like the Gyptions, who do not have the same level on access to
modern science, may not be able to develop their world as they could possibly, with the help of science. This shows how dystopian stories can be set
in many different places, and it is only one idea taken to an extreme, which sets the pace for the whole

The Salk Institute For Biological Studies
The Salk Institute for Biological Studies is an independent, scientific research institute located near La Jolla, California. Designed by architect Louis
Kahn, the institute began construction in 1962 and finished in 1965. Kahn is regarded as one of America's most influential modernist architects , as
well as one of the master builders of the Twentieth Century. The significance of the Salk Institute is that it promoted the reintroduction of historical
architecture into modernism, as well as displaying Kahn's ability to create monumental architecture that responded to human scale.
From Brutalism to Postmodernism to Minimalism, Kahn's many directions and superficial fashions can be traced to roots in his original oeuvre. The
timelessness of the design and deep personal involvement of Kahn is undoubtedly some of its greatest qualities. Timelessness is exemplified in his
Salk Institute design, containing aspects and principles that in a certain sense can be described as universal or eternally valid. In terms of where the
structure sits within his portfolio of work, the case can be made that all of Kahn's later buildings are directly developed from concepts first presented in
his design for the Salk Institute. The Institute reformed how we think about buildings and space for those who inhabit it , as well as the honesty and
"truth" in the use of materials and their architectural combination.

The going concern principle believes a company will stay in business for enough time to carry out its mission and will not go out of business in the
near future. The matching principle requires companies to apply "accrual" basis to all accounting. For example, revenues are matched to expenses as
they occur. An example would be: things are accounted for in the week that the sale happened and not when the commission is received. The revenue
recognition principle works in a similar way. Expenses and sales are accounted for at time of purchase or sale, regardless of when payment is received.
Materiality and conservatism control the accountant's liberty to make decisions. Materiality permits the accountant a bit of freedom in deciding if an
agreement is so immaterial that she or he may breach another accounting principle in the way it is recorded. This implies that financial statements
oftentimes round to the nearest dollar, thousand or even million dollars depending on the scale of the company for better convenience. Conservatism
means that if an accountant can record something in different ways, he or she must go with the way that outcomes in less net income.
On the other hand, the International Financial Reporting Standards are the principles–based standards and explanations that have been implied by the
International Accounting Standards Board or the IASB as a guideline for global financial reporting. The

The Pros And Cons Of MIT Vs. Massachusetts Institute Of...
Without consideration for the difficulty of acceptance, which university would one attend: Massachusetts Institute of Technology or California Institute
of Technology? Both universities are highly ranked throughout the world and have the same general focus, which is STEM–– Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics. Even though the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) has a more affordable tuition and provides impacting
research opportunities, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) offers greater financial aid services and is an overall higher ranked and more
advanced university.
In the first place, the tuition of each university is significant when deciding which one is the best university. Initially, MIT has a higher tuition than
Caltech, but after financial aid is taken into account, the fees lower substantially. According to Laura Bridgestock, an editor of TopUniversities
website, the "annual tuition fees for undergraduates are $46,704" at MIT. Although this is exceeding Caltech's "annual tuition fees for undergraduates"
of "$45,846," MIT offers an abundant amount of financial aid (Bridgestock). This financial aid of MIT's, which "91% of its undergraduates receive,"
is far greater than Caltech's, which "almost 60% of undergraduates receive" (Bridgestock). Not only do undergraduates receive more financial aid at
MIT, but as Laura Bridgestock reports, "the average scholarship" amounts "to

  • 1. The Heart And Vascular Institute Clinical Specialty Area The clinical area chosen was the Heart and Vascular Institute through one of the hospital systems I am employed with. I had been involved with a project that studied the readmissions experienced within the hospital system and established heart failure (HF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders (COPD) were our highest readmission problems. Our organization had found that millions of dollars had been left on the table since the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) handed down their final ruling in 2012 regarding reduced payments for preventable readmissions (CMS.gov, 2016). One of the outcomes of the project was the development of the rapid diuresis unit (RDU) through our Cardiac Decision Units (CDU) at several campuses. I often wondered how the RDU of the CDU was set up and how they function within the system. This is my opportunity to see the operation firsthand, the clientele it serves, the staff, and potential education needs that the department faces. Developing as an Advanced Nurse Educator The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) published report titled The Essentials of Master's Education in Nursing (2011), where the core framework for all masters educated nurses is laid out to prepare for the dramatic changes seen in the delivery of healthcare today and in the future (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2011). • 2. The Institute Of Medicine ( Iom ) Background Many health care leaders, authors, and professionals have given their time and effort to write and discuss quality. Quality is now recognized as one of the key aims in healthcare today. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) has had a profound impact on health care in America and the view of quality within health care facilities. The National Roundtable on Health Care Quality met six different times between 1996 and 1998 to look at changes regarding quality in health care. Within their conclusion they said, "Serious and widespread quality problems exist throughout American Medicine" (IOM, 1998). The terms underuse, overuse, and misuse evolved here to describe the errors occurring in health care. These errors were hurting more patients than the population realized and once published the trust towards healthcare was low and many had questions. Their review at the roundtable combed through what was currently the norm in health care. Based on the experience of the members of the roundtable, it was not up to par and a shift was necessary to improve healthcare outcomes. The IOM's report "To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System" shocked the health care world and made change necessary. "To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System" released information that reported that tens of thousands of Americans were dying each year from errors (IOM, 1999). Patient safety moved to the forefront in healthcare like never before and directives were discussed to put quality as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. I Am A Student And Radical Protester At Virginia... I am currently a student and radical protester at Virginia Polytechnic Institute or "VPI" in the spring of 1970. My purpose of writing to you is to present a student point of view on the current growing campus unrest at my university due to the anti–war movement and its opposition. I believe that the United States involvement in the Vietnam war is one huge costly mistake that could have easily been avoided. The war had nothing to do with the United States originally as Ho Chi Minh, the leader of North Vietnam, was not seeking help from other communist nations and America made what was going to be just a civil war into something much greater. As a result of this we students have the right to voice our disapproval and express our opinions in anyway we choose. The reason why I have chosen to be a radical protester is because that is the only way our voices are going to be heard by President Nixon. Whereas those who consider themselves as "moderate anti–war protesters" are not doing enough to be recognize; The war supporter are being brainwashed by the government into thinking it 's for the greater good of the nation and are blinded by what is actually happening overseas; The silent majority are apathetic to an issue that they should care about due to the size of the issue and its effect both on domestic and foreign fronts. First, I would like to present a little background information to present the origins of the current problem transpiring at my university for a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Art Institute of Chicago Essay The building at 111 South Michigan Avenue, home of the Art Institute of Chicago, was opened in 1893 as the World's Congress Auxiliary Building for the World's Columbian Exposition. The building was passed on to the Art Institute after the end of the exposition. Designed in the Beax–Arts style by Boston firm Shepley, Rutan, and Coolidge, building has become an icon for chicagoans an tourists alike. The Modern Wing, the Art Institute's latest and largest addition to date, opened on May 16, 2009, and was designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Renzo Piano. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main building of the Art Institute is constructed mostly of masonry, with few windows, and feels very heavy and overpowering. Grand staircases and large columns dwarf visitors as they move through the galleries. This is similar to the way the art in the space makes you feel: small, unimportant, and sometimes even afraid. The Modern wing in constructed of steel and glass, and is very open and bright (except when intended not to be). The large north wall facing Millenium Park is one large expanse of windows, letting in plenty of indirect sunlight, and opening the gallery to the park. The space feels very light, in both senses of the word. As with the old building, the art feels similar to the space in that it is more open and less opressive. The two buildings also differ in the way they interact with the city, since they have vastly differing neighbors. The main building is centered on Adams street and faces the Loop, the busiest area of the city. Flanking the main entrance are two large, bronze, lions that seem to protect the building from the city, while still allowing visitors to enter and exit the museum. The new Modern Wing, however, facesChicago's Millenium Park. The face of the building along the park side is a large face of windows. • 12. The Black Of The Tuskegee Institute Black educators began to increase their involvement in political culture in Haiti through advocacy and education. American educators R.R. Moton and W.T.B Williams of the Tuskegee Institute sought more black involvement in U.S. –Haitian relations. Moton served as Booker T. Washington's successor at the Tuskegee Institute. He felt a duty to continue Washington's vision of industrial education for blacks and sought to extend the Tuskegee model into Haiti. He urged President Harding to include blacks on his "investigation body" declaring he could "suggest colored men who would in no way embarrass the administration." Moton fell short; Harding did not appoint a black American to the body. However, Moton left an indelible mark on Washington. The Department of State invited Moton to an "independent trip to Haiti", but he could not attend; Williams replaced him. In a confidential letter, Secretary of State Charles Evans Hughes discussed the prospect of Williams' trip with General Russell, Hughes remarked that Williams needed the approval of President Borno to determine whether he would be an "acceptable" replacement for Moton, worthy of the Haitian government. Hughes continued and claimed "Haitians prefer a white man to a Negro for work in Haiti as the former has more influence and authority." His confidential statement alluded to the lack of Black political presence in Haiti and the repudiation of Black political presence in Haiti. However, it also highlighted that the Harding ... Although Kumon has been in existence in the US for 10 years now, you have still not implemented a corporate global strategy which will allow for success in the US. To date Kumon has operated with the program unchanged from the Japanese business model and this is clearly not conducive to the US educational system. The US educational system is a much more rewards based system used to motivate the students to work and to improve the students self discipline therefore, if Kumon is indeed determined to grow market share outside of the Asian American culture it will be important to understand what works to motivate and encourage self discipline here in the US. In addition, the change to family culture necessary for the Kumon program's success should also be considered with the consultant as this is an area where commitment is hard to maintain due to different lifestyles, whereby both parents often work long hours outside the home and will have a difficult time committing to the demands placed on them by the Kumon program. Depending on the direction determined, for example will Kumon focus on just the Asian population, or will they conduct a full national campaign. So, now in place is a vision and strategy, so in order to make this vision reality Kumon must implement the strategy through the use of marketing and advertising campaign that will build awareness of Kumon, appeal to it's target consumer. And how do you attract a big public without compromising the selfish, private, exclusive time we all want to have in a museum?" These questions, put forward by Elizabeth Diller of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, represent the urbanistic motivation supporting the construction of Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA). In such a manner Boston's ICA engages, not only with the urban citizen, but also the urban landscape in which the site is located. The ICA conveys the idea of architecture as art in itself. As a presenter of art to the urban citizen and because of its open design, the inside allows the citizens to not only appreciate the art within the building but also see the art of the building's natural environment and setting. Boston's ICA situated at Fan Pier in South Boston represents a shift from preconceived architectural constructs to more innovative forms. The building's position in the middle of a currently undeveloped urban landscape gives it a striking entity that engages the viewer in a way that facilitates its various functions as a contemporary art museum. Furthermore its structure and location alter the population's understanding of museum architecture as it has traditionally been defined, that it is a "shell" that contains significant artistic work. A visual paradox becomes evident between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Western Oceanography Institute Case Western Oceanography Institute It was already 72 degrees when Astrid Young pulled into the parking lot at the Western Oceanography Institute (WOI). The radio announcer was reminding listeners to leave out extra water for their pets because the temperature was going to be in the high 90s for the third straight day. Young made a mental note to call her husband, Jon, when she got to her office and make sure that he left plenty of water outside for their cat, Figaro. She quickly realized that they were all very bright, competent workers who were anxious to leverage this work experience into a lucrative career upon graduation. She admitted that she sometimes had a hard time relating to students who were preoccupied with fraternity bashes and X–games. She lost her temper only once, and that was at Samantha Eggert for failing to set up an adequate virus screening system that would have prevented the Internet corruption that occurred. She kept a close eye on Eggert's work after that, but in time, Eggert proved her worth. Young saw a lot of herself in Eggert's work habits. THE MICROSOFT NT CONVERSION PROJECT Young laid the groundwork for the NT conversion project in her recruitment interview with the director by arguing that conversion was a critical skill she would bring to the position. Once hired she was able to sell the director and his immediate staff on the project, but not without some resistance. It improves the accessibility of student information, as well as significantly increases space for communication between students, parents and teachers. The aim of this is to increase parental awareness of school on–going processes and to facilitate the preparation of reports and it structures the progress of individual student. One of the school I conducted my research is Jitegemee Secondary School, in which the findings show that they provide task such as student admission, capturing student attendance, producing report card, producing official transcript manually and the school teachers uses their knowledge in scheduling classes and subjects preparing timetable which wastes much time and energy. By automating SSSPS documents that can take large space or many rooms to store the documents can be stored on few disks, transcript retrieval will be easy it won't take much time. • 23. The Institute Of Medicine ( Iom ) The Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommends five core competencies to help improve the quality of care a patient receives in the health care industry. The five competencies of the IOM are the following "providing patient–centered care (personalization of care), working in interdisciplinary teams, utilizing evidence–based practice, applying quality improvement, and using the informatics system" (Sollecito & Johnson, 2013). First is the ability to apply personalization of care to a patient. Personalization is not easy to teach, but is something that is learned through practice and class recommendations. I say class recommendations because sometimes situations will occur where a trained medical person has been taught if this occurs here is how to approach the situation. For instance, here in Detroit the medical staff have been exposed to people that are in need of medical attention after being shot. Yes, it is a stressful situation, but they do receive training in a classroom to help them through that situation, but most of the experience comes with on the job training working within the "team" of staff working on the trauma. The concept can be taught, but having a mock training for the situation helps too, which will lead to the person knowing what to do in the situation. Consequently, since the person knows what to do in the situation they can develop a rapport with the patient, thus making the patient feel as if they were treated well by the staff. Implementation Of The Institute Of Medicine Implementation of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Future of Nursing Report Introduction The focus of this paper is based on the importance of the IOM report on the "Future of Nursing" in relation to nursing practice, workforce development and the nursing education. The standard of practice coupled with professional accountability in addition to professional development forms the foundation for the nursing profession as it continues to evolve with the ever–changing needs of those they serve, be it the patient, the public, health care team members, or the nursing profession. Standards of practice are the "what" and describe a competent level of nursing care while Standards of professional performance are the "how" of nursing (Cresaia & Friberg, 2010). Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Committee Initiative and IOM Research Report The IOM in collaboration with RWJF launched a two–year initiative in an effort or with an agenda to transform the nursing profession. The IOM's major agenda is to "serve as adviser to the nation to improve health" (IOM, 2010). The IOM is highly recognized by the legislature and very powerful as well. With the consensus of the committee, the four major recommendations were that: –"Nurses should practice to the full extent of their education and training. –Nurses should achieve higher levels of education and training through an improved education system that promotes seamless academic progression. –Nurses should be full partners with ... Tomkins does not go in depth about any of the differences between the books. Conversely, a very specific subsection of obligations are examined by Olivia Robinson in her article Justinian's Institutional Classification and the Class of the Quasi Delict. She starts by clarifying that a quasi–delict is a subset of obligations and arguing that the quasi–delict is an imaginary idea created for the purpose of keeping "a nice symmetry" of four categories. Robinson points out inconsistencies in Justinian's descriptions of other subsections of obligations and other instances where substance was sacrificed for this symmetry. In this section, Robinson refers several times to places in which Justinian either follows Gaius' example or breaks from it. She concludes with an analysis of the quasi–delict and legal arguments for as to why it does not exist. Robinson concedes that the quasi–delict in Justinian's system of using four subcategories of ideas likely makes it easier to teach legal concepts. The article is much longer and more detailed than the section in Tomkins' book. However, its main focus is proving that the quasi–delict is a non–sensical category rather than the differences between Gaius' and Justinian's Institutes, which is what Tomkins concentrates on. In 1958, gallery owner Leo Castelli discovered Johns while visiting the Rauschenberg 's studio. This was an important time in Johns art career as his "style" had started to settle more into contemporary art due to his personal relationship with Robert Rauschenberg. According to The Society for Contemporary Art "Castelli gave him his first solo show. It was here that Alfred Barr, the founding director of New York 's Museum ofModern Art, purchased four works from this show. In the latter part of the 1950's, Jasper Johns arose as the shinning star in the American art scene" (Wildfire Media 2015). The significance of the Salk Institute is that it promoted the reintroduction of historical architecture into modernism, as well as displaying Kahn's ability to create monumental architecture that responded to human scale. From Brutalism to Postmodernism to Minimalism, Kahn's many directions and superficial fashions can be traced to roots in his original oeuvre. Timelessness is exemplified in his Salk Institute design, containing aspects and principles that in a certain sense can be described as universal or eternally valid. In terms of where the structure sits within his portfolio of work, the case can be made that all of Kahn's later buildings are directly developed from concepts first presented in his design for the Salk Institute. Australian Institute of Petroleum Australian Institute of Petroleum – Submission to the Inquiry into Australia's Oil Refinery Industry пЃ®Global market refining trends 1."Global oil production will continue to grow as conventional supplies are increasingly complemented by unconventional sources to meet demand. Physical production limits (so‐called 'peak oil') are unlikely to be reached before 2035." 2.Asian excess supply capacity "this excess refining capacity helps provide a buffer against unexpected demand or supply shocks" "surplus capacity does, however, place competitive pressures on refineries globally, and there will remain a risk of further rationalization in the Australian refining industry as Australia's relatively small refineries continue to struggle to compete against mega‐refineries in Asia." 3.Structural change in refining Based on the IEA's latest Medium Term Market Outlook (October 2012), structural change is largely the market response to: Excess capacity in Asia and Middle East changing demand patterns and the makeup of the demand‐barrel (including due to fuel efficiency) New sources of supply including unconventional supplies Shifts in regional storage, distribution and trade. In the context of a global surplus of refining capacity, weak demand and tight refining margins, refiners are lowering refinery utilization (as they have done globally to historically low levels) and are closing more marginal refineries. Refinery rationalization since the GFC in 2008 has been, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Pros And Cons Of MIT Vs. Massachusetts Institute Of... Without consideration for the difficulty of acceptance, which university would one attend: Massachusetts Institute of Technology or California Institute of Technology? Both universities are highly ranked throughout the world and have the same general focus, which is STEM–– Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Even though the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) has a more affordable tuition and provides impacting research opportunities, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) offers greater financial aid services and is an overall higher ranked and more advanced university. In the first place, the tuition of each university is significant when deciding which one is the best university. Initially, MIT has a higher tuition than Caltech, but after financial aid is taken into account, the fees lower substantially. According to Laura Bridgestock, an editor of TopUniversities website, the "annual tuition fees for undergraduates are $46,704" at MIT. Although this is exceeding Caltech's "annual tuition fees for undergraduates" of "$45,846," MIT offers an abundant amount of financial aid (Bridgestock). This financial aid of MIT's, which "91% of its undergraduates receive," is far greater than Caltech's, which "almost 60% of undergraduates receive" (Bridgestock). Not only do undergraduates receive more financial aid at MIT, but as Laura Bridgestock reports, "the average scholarship" amounts "to Clarno 2 $36,566," leaving "seven out of 10 students graduating ... It greatly depends on the efforts put forward by both parties. What can make it easy is a concise agreement between them, and effective practices towards achievement of that common goal by both parties. The proposed status of nuclear industry needs a lot in terms of capital, expertise and technology. It is therefore the role of both parties to make the proposal feasible by each playing its part on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
