My Experience At High School Essay
Sitting here now looking back I am not as devastated as I was then. I think about all the great
outcomes of the situation and I can be happy thinking about it. Of course, there are still some parts
that make me want to take it back, but who knows what kind of person I would be without this sort
of humbling experience. Before I go any further let me go back about two years to the summer
before my Junior year of high school. I was sitting on the bench at a summer league basketball
game, four days after school got out. Basketball was once my favorite sport, but at this point in my
life I had grown to love volleyball and track much more. So, while on the bench watching the game
about to start I wonder to myself how I got myself talked into this stupid game. There were only two
games left and it's not like I am a huge contributor to the team anyway. As I sit there thinking about
how much I dislike the sport I get ordered to go in. I do as I am told and run over to the end line. My
eyes are fixed on the girl with the ball waiting for the whistle to be blown so she can throw the ball
in. I get ready to play defense and then the whistle blows and she re–enters the court. I go to take a
step back to stay in front just like I had been coached to do for many years. As I go to take this step
my knee gives out. I try again to run down the court and ignore the pain but the thing was, it didn't
hurt. At all. My knee would just not do what it was meant to do and every time I took a step it

Descriptive Essay About Orange Beach
The Fun and Horrific Orange Beach Trip My friends and I had taken a weekend trip to Orange
Beach. We decided to stay in a condo for the entire weekend. The day that we were going to Orange
Beach my friend Hasan was graduating from Madison Central High School in 2015, and he was
getting his parents to drive him to Orange Beach so that he could hang out with us for the weekend.
We did multiple events such as driving down to Orange Beach and back home, going to the beach,
biking, waiting for dinner, living in a condo, and celebrating a friend graduating High School. The
events on this trip had many fun and horrific event happen in them. This may be a reason why a
person does not take a high school graduate.

We made teams of two people per team, and in one of the games of FIFA my team was down by five
goals at halftime, however, we came back to win seven to six in extra time. After a while, we started
to play a cricket game called Don Bradman Cricket 2015; however, it was only two players. Which
made us to take turns playing the game. Nobody could beat my friend Muzamil, but Affan was the
closest to beat him, but in the last over, which is equivalence to an inning, he completely collapsed
and lost. Muzamil ended up beating everyone by at least fourteen runs. Once we started to get bored
of playing Don Bradman Cricket 2015, we went to the beach to relax in the sun and play some
games there as well.
After playing the PS3 Games in the condo, we went down to the beach around four pm. When we
were at the beach, we started to play volleyball. When we were playing volleyball, the volleyball
would be served towards the middle of the volleyball court where no one was calling out who would
hit the ball. Since no one called out to hit the ball, my friends had to start to avoid each other so they
did not run into each other. After we played volleyball, we went into the water and started to throw
the football around to each other. While Muzamil threw the football in towards the water, a strong
wave came in and made my friends and I fall into the water. We also brought along a cricket bat and
a tennis ball and started

Knocking A Volleyball: A Team Sport
Volleyball is a team sport that is played by two teams consisting of 6 players each on the court.
Every player on the court is given a different job. A game lasts about 90 minutes. Volleyball is a
sport that requires proper nutrition, physiology, biomechanics, and the knowledge of anatomy.
A volleyball bump is also known as a pass. It is the first contact with the ball following a serve from
the other team. The first bump is hit close to the net, so that it can be set up for a spike.
1)There are three different types of muscles used while bumping a volleyball such as the shoulder,
elbow, and knee muscles. The joint used in the shoulder muscle is the shoulder girdle and the action
you can do is elevation. When bumping a volleyball, the agonist muscles used are the upper
trapezius, rhomboids, and levator scapulae. While the antagonist muscles are latissimus dorsi,
pectoralis major and minor, serratus anterior, and trapezius. The bones used are the humerus,
scapula, and clavicle. The deep muscle group that moves the shoulder are the rotator cuff muscles
and tendons. They control our ability to raise our arm from our side (abduction). ... Show more

What I Learned From Failure Research Paper
The lessons we learn from failure will help us achieve success later in life. My experience in seventh
grade in not making the volleyball team was, at the time, the hardest thing that I had gone through.
In the weeks that followed tryouts, it was that failure that led me to discover what I am good at and,
in turn, being successful from it. Not making the team helped me become a better soccer player and
taught me that success in one thing can come from failure of another.
It was the beginning of the seventh grade when I tried out for the volleyball team. I had been
practicing all summer long to get better and I felt like I would be good enough to make the team. I
practiced for many hours each day to improve on my skills and I saw progress each day. Bumping,
setting, spiking and serving, I practiced it all. I knew that most of ... Show more content on

After signing in and receiving a number to put on my shirt, we began warming up and passing the
ball while the coaches set up drill for us to do to so they can evaluate our skills. We did a few drills
and I felt like I did good, except for one drill which was serving. I couldn't serve overhand as well as
the other girls. I tried so hard to make it over the net each time, but couldn't make it over
consistently. This was so frustrating for me because I knew this would hurt my chance of making the
team. At the end of the day, the coaches gave me a letter saying that I made the first cut and they
want to see me play again. When the next day of tryouts came, I felt like I had a good chance of
making the team. That day after tryouts, I received a second letter but this one said that I didn't make
the team, to keep working hard for tryouts next year. I was crushed that I didn't make the team. I
learned that volleyball was not my strong suit and that I need to focus on other things that I'm good

Volleyball Monologue
Memoir What do you think when you hear volleyball; serve, bit, pass, net and ball. It's so much
more than that it's aggression, passion, oomph, uphill battle, and love. At first I thought volleyball
was just for fun, but then one day that all changed. "Hurry up and make sure that you have
everything you need," my mom shouted. "Okay, I'll be out in a minute," I replied. I promptly
jammed my shoes into my bag, zipped it and rushed out my bedroom and down to the front door.
My mom rushed in and said, "Let's go." We seemed to accelerate down the road. As we approached
the gymnasium the car and dashed into the building. Legion points into the game everyone started to

After the game finished I headed to my little brother's football game. Later we headed home and as I
headed towards my room my mom said, "Wait." I turned around with anger written all over my face.
"What's happened at the game when you came out?" she asked. I pierced my lips, then spoke,
"When we were playing we were out of rotation and one of my friends who was in the setter's
position typically isn't comfortable playing setter so I was asking her if she wanted to switch." I
replied, "Then when I came out she started to yell at me to stop yelling at my teammates and then
when I told her we were out of rotation she told me to stop blaming my teammates. Then she said if
I don't stop talking back, she would bench me the next game." She thought for a minute, then said,
"Okay." "I hate having her as a coach," I retorted. I made a fist at the thought of her.
She said, "Either you love volleyball or you don't the coach doesn't matter," she replied. At that
moment I knew that I love volleyball and I love to play and I'm not gonna let anything get in the
way of that. When I play volleyball all the abominable things in the world just seem to go

High School Sport
Bruised knees, sore legs, and tired arms were what my high–school years consisted of. I had always
wanted to be part of a sports team, but middle school sports didn't count because no one took it
seriously. During my freshman year in high school, I found out about volleyball try–outs and
immediately signed up and attended each practice. For once, I felt a sense of belonging – there were
rookies and there were pros – I was never marginalized and was accepted whether or not I had
experience.
Volleyball kept me motivated – it made me work tirelessly to make the team. Though I knew I
wasn't the best player, my team constantly supported my efforts to become better. But, I struggled
most with spiking because of my height and for that reason, I thought

Lady Mustang Research Paper
Energetic, hype, supportive, loud these are just a few of the words Mustang fans used to describe the
atmosphere at the Lady Mustang's second district volleyball game on September 8, 2015. The
season started off a little rocky with a tough loss against the Grace Prep Lions on September 3,
2015. However, our Lady Mustangs came ready to fight for their second district game against the
Temple Christian Eagles. The JV team defeated the eagles in two and the varsity won their match 3–
0.
The Lady Mustang volleyball team has the expectation bar set pretty high this year. Having only
graduated one senior, the volleyball team consists of a lot of returning players from last year, whose
hopes for this season are even higher than last. When asked what this season has in store for the lady
mustangs, senior Bay Brunson commented, "I'm looking forward the making lots of memories for

she walked up to the line a hush would come over the crowd as she bounced the ball repetitively

The Fellowship fans would go crazy as she scored Ace after Ace. Although the JV team was without

Jeremey Soehnlin: Belleville West Football Players
Jeremey Soehnlin received the Defensive Player of the year from the Belleville West Football
Coaches. Soehnlin has been apart of the athletic department of Belleville West since his freshman
year, and now, in his senior year, his team spirit and skill are being recognized.
"I started out with Center, my first year, and I also played a little bit of defensive line, but it wasn't
much. Sophomore year, I was able to specialize a little bit more on offensive line, and I actually
moved up to guard," Soehnlin said.
Soehnlin played on the freshman team for the majority of his freshman year, and then was brought
up to play Varsity for the playoffs. Soehnlin also is on the swim team, and played volleyball for a
year, is on Hy News, and in Key Club, and maintains a high grade point average.

Jeremey who played several sports growing up, never really connected with anything until football.
"He didn't really get excited about sports until after the 4th grade, when he started doing summer
swim team. Then, that fall he convinced us to let him play Little Devils football. I was against it at
first, but was overruled," Mrs. Soehnlin said.
Soehnlin now has one of the most dangerous positions on the field, as his primary job is to tackle the
quarterback.
"He takes a lot of hits on the field, which could lead to potential injuries," Katie Boyer, senior at
Belleville West and Jeremy's girlfriend said.
During the Lincoln Way East game, Soehnlin got a concussion after taking a hit on the field, and
that did not help his mom's, or girlfriends anxiety.

What My Hard Work Has Shown Me
What My Hard Work Has Shown Me
The beat of my heart thumps harder by the second as my high school volleyball coach announces at
the 2016 end of the year banquet, that their is one Honorable Mention and one All–Conference
award within the Wright County. After playing volleyball for eight years as a setter, assisting 1,134
kills (with my two and a half years on varsity), and receiving Heart–Beat of the Team Award,
mentally and physically I knew there might be a chance I had a shot at getting one of the two
awards. However my hardworking, and valuable teammates are just as talented.
Captain, starting libero, and MVP Skyler Wallisch can get low and pick up anything. She's my right
hand as a setter, I can rely on her to get the first pass up to me. She is a very important player and
has different colored jersey to signify her position as a libero on the court. Also Co–Captain Ashley
Fuhrmann has a good chance at getting one of the awards. She can jump really high for her height,
and swing fast. Many of my assists came from her. The Honorable Mention Award is given to a
player whose name was brought up, and signified as a valuable athlete in a meeting held with all the
Wright County volleyball coaches. The All–Conference Award is handed out to six players out of
the entire Wright County Volleyball District (East and West, consisting of fourteen teams) whom the
volleyball coaches believe would make the best team in the Wright County.

Rhetorical Devices In Everyday Life
Tone, engages your audience in an inviting manner that makes them willing to hear your message.
Therefore, tone, is everything when we interact with others. In our everyday lives, our tone shifts
several times throughout our day. We speak to everyone, in different rhetorical situations in a certain
kind of tone. You would not speak to your parents, grandparents, or even just your boss, the way that
you would speak to your younger siblings, or perhaps, even your enemy. Many people question why
our tone changes, why we can't just be our true selves ALL THE TIME! The reality is, we have to
hold a certain level of respect to ourselves, and know the authority or position in society that others
around us have obtained. From my own experiences, I know that tone does in fact shift and change
in every rhetorical situation that I encounter. I would first off like to say that I am a strong believer
in the saying "respect is earned and not given", but I also am a believer in everyone's right to be
spoken to in a civil manner. I grew up in an environment that taught me to speak to others the way
that I would like to be spoken to. More ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we go to a fast food restaurant, I eat quite fast, and don't show many of my manners, although
they are still there. But, if we choose to have a meal at Bravo's, Red Lobster, or Giovanni's, my
manners go from "little kid" to someone who was raised in Beverly Hills. The way I write differs
from what the assignment is, if it's just a free write or personal notes, I am allowed to write pretty
sloppy and careless. If I am assigned to write a turn–in essay, I will slow my writing down so that it
can be neat and proper. The way I dress depends on the occasion, if it's a beach day, I can dress

Sportsmanship And Sportsmanship Of A Team
Sportsmanship All athletes can recognize that being a part of a team is hard. It is incredibly difficult
to select a group of teenagers that will (1) all get along, (2) work together seamlessly, and (3) respect
their coaches. The formula for the perfect team is unknowable. One negative spirit always exists to
drag the team down, to deflate their motives and increase their egos; but that does not have any
effect on the sportsmanship of a team. Sportsmanship does not rely on the cohesiveness of a team. It
does not correlate with how many bonding trips a team endures or how many groups of friends are
on the team. It is not entirely internal or entirely external. Sportsmanship is not simply the
willingness of an athlete to respect other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, attitudes and jealousy grew. We dominated over other JV2 teams on the court, due to
the lack of completion rather than our skill; but we struggled in practice. None of us could figure out
how to work together. Not until our second tournament. The morning bus ride was quiet and
unassuming. Everyone sat separately and stared out their own windows, listening to their own
music. Upon arrival, we pulled up kneepads, put on out ankle braces, tied our shoes, and trudged
onto the court for warmup. Even with no energy, we won our first game, and the one after that, and
the one after that. First in our pool, yet there was no real celebration. Bracket play started and,
finally, we met some teams that actually challenged us. While energy started to rise, so did the
attitudes. After actually playing, for once, cockiness spread throughout the team. Then, after fighting
our way past a small team in bright red jerseys, a game won purely by luck and consistent serving,
we found ourselves in the championship game. Our final opponents hailed from one of those

Middle School Memory
Most of my middle school Memory was sports and making friends while playing sports. I didn't
have very many friends when I first came to middle school and I wasn't always very athletic. I
became interested in cheer in 6th grade, so I tried out and it turns out I actually made it. I gained a
lot of friends from participating in this sport, so I tried out for volleyball next. All of my friends
were doing it and I thought it would be fun. It turned out to be the best experience to share with all
of my middle school friends, so I continued these sports throughout 8th grade and hope to continue
in high school also. In cheer, we would practice at least once a week after school, sometimes more.

However, on Football game days, we would go up to Mrs. Boban's room to get ready and then on to

practice almost everyday of the week to prepare for our games and learn the spots we would play on
the court. We would go to different schools to play against them in games, but in cheer we never
went to other schools to cheer at games. Our volleyball team lost our first two games, but after that
we practiced everyday and went the rest of the season, eleven games, undefeated. On the way back
home from the volleyball games it was late, but we would stop at a fast food restaurant to get
something to eat. Therefore, I usually got home from volleyball late which messed up my school
work. Theses two sports in my Middle School experience provided me with many friends. I enjoyed

performance, therefore Coach Dawn did not have to hesitate on choosing me to be on the team.
When it was time for me to show off my skills I was beyond confident. We began running drills, I
missed a few serves, but I was still amped up to do more. Less than seven minutes into our practice
she had me gather all the volleyballs and put them in the cart.

Performance Analysis : The Game
Volleyball is a very popular sport worldwide, with millions of people participating and playing a
game at least once a week (Kenny, & Gregory, 2006). Volleyball is differentiated from the rest of
team sports, because although it is a sport with discrete skills, the game has a cyclical and sequential
pattern (Beal, 1989). It is possible to find a sequence of the actions in the game (graph 1).
Regardless of the rule changes, the game is constructed by a series of individual skills that are
directly related to the team's performance and proficiency. In comparative evaluations of the game's
skills.
Performance analysis is a way to understand the factors explaining success in elite–level sports. It
gives coaches knowledge of the sport so they can think of ways to develop playing and training
(Bergeles, 2009). Performance analysis has been recently utilized in different levels of volleyball in
many studies (Bergeles, 2009 – Ismail, 2003).
In fact that the tendencies are still prevalent in high–level volleyball, the rally point system
compelled both players and trainers to focus their attention on avoiding errors that would reward the
opponent with an easy point. Thus, many teams continue to strive toward perfect execution of the
basic skills. (Laios, 2004)
A volleyball match consists of different volleyball basic skill executions, which are serve, reception,
set, Spike, block, and Gig. There is technical variability in the execution of these basic skills.

High School To College Transition Analysis
My freshman year at UIS has been everything I could've ever wanted it to be and more. From the
moment that I decided to come here, I knew that special things were in store. I was extremely
excited to play volleyball and work toward my future career as a physical therapist, but little did I
know that along with those things would come treasured friendships, limitless knowledge, incredible
experiences, and unspeakable promise for the next three years of my academic and athletic
endeavors. The transition from high school to college presented some challenges and required
changes. Even with that being said, I can happily report that my adaptation was seamless and
smooth. It is a true honor and privilege to be an undergraduate here at the University of Illinois

Biomechanical Analysis Project: Overhand Volleyball
Biomechanical Analysis Project: Overhand Volleyball Serve The purpose of this project is to
analyze an overhand volleyball serve from a biomechanical perspective. Biomechanics is defined as
forces and movements on living systems. It looks at the internal and external forces that act on the
body, and the movements that these forces create. By understanding the biomechanical concepts,
you can train your body to move with accuracy. It also enables us to develop new skills, correct
minor mistakes, develop new equipment design, and improve safety to reduce the risk for injury.
The volleyball serve almost looks like a throw–like movement because the joints used extend one
after another. The reason behind this is that within the movement, the shoulder extends before the

When you toss the ball up, keeping your arm extended in front of you with the ball in your hand
causes protraction and internal rotation at the shoulder. At the start of forward swing of the arm, the
shoulder is horizontally extended, abducted and externally rotated, and the elbow is in a flexed
position. When brining the arm forward for the swing, internal rotation of the shoulder, extension at
the elbow, and slight flexion of the fingers when they are forming to the ball. It is important to snap
your wrist after your hand contacts the ball, causing flexion of the wrist, which creates the ball to
have a down spin. When you add momentum to the serve, it is important to take a step forward with
your dominant foot as you swing and drag the other foot forward. This causes flexion at the hip and

Anthropology In Sports
My personal interest in sports is based on how my parents and other family members nurtured me as
a child and youth. My continuous interest in sports has influenced my choice of this topic to provide
me a field experience and a deeper understanding. I have always been interested and engaged in
play and sports. Volleyball is my favorite sport and was the first organised sport I played in junior
secondary school at age 12. I have been involved in several competitive sports at from the amateur
to the national/elite level. I have participated in team sports (e.g., volleyball and soccer), field events
(e.g., high jump, long jump), and track events (e.g., 100m, 200m, 400m, 800). I chose to focus on
volleyball for this project because it is a sport with which I am most comfortable and familiar. 1.4
Justification of Study The anthropology of sports is a cross–cultural sub–discipline that focuses on
analyses of sports–related–social problems (Blanchard 1995:23). Although physical anthropologists
for decades have done studies on body types, morphology, and functions, less work has been done in
the area of cultural, social and psychological settings with regards to the way individuals live and
also perform (Malina 1972). There are virtually unlimited opportunities for additional research to be

"Looks who is finally here." Kuroo sarcastically states before drinking a plastic bottle of cold water.
Everybody except for Yaku, who was trying to wake up Lev. forms a circle. As all eyes dart on the

can mean a lot of things. It could possibly be good news that the team has awesome new freshmen

that Naoi will now be the head coach. Either way, they all want a straightforward answer from their

The sound of Yaku smacking the living hell out of Lev was the only sound floating in the room.

War Eagle Marina Website Analysis
When completed, the War Eagle Marina website will be a source of interesting information about
this marina situated in Northwest Arkansas. The 'family history' page adds a nice personal touch to
the site, and the 'Beaver Lake history page' further enhances the site by offering a glimpse into the
background of the lake upon which the marina is located. The helpful links are particularly relevant
to the marina activities including helpful information pertaining to boating safety, lake maps, lake
activities, and nearby campgrounds. The 'contacts' page gives explicit verbal directions to the marina
as well as an effectively embedded Google map. The website designer might want to consider an
alternative color scheme. Two colors which might be more effective for the marina ... Show more

Since the project calls for eight pages, the website designer should add links to two more pages in
the navigational menu. Additionally, the background color should fill the entire navigational bar and
the menu items might appear more orderly if they were centered. Here is a link to a code for
centering horizontal navigational elements––http://www.cssnewbie.com/full–width–centered–

of photographs. Photos can be used to depict real–life, real–people circumstances which cannot
always be easily expressed through words. Through the use of images, website visitors would be
able to actually visualize the business or area that they might not know much about. Photos of the
marina could be used on the homepage, and photos of the lake could be placed on the Beaver Lake

Softball Compare And Contrast
Volleyball and Softball are two international sports that are played on professional levels, yet they
have many differences. Volleyball and softball are loved by many people around the world. Softball
is a variation of the American sport baseball. While volleyball has different components it is also an
American sport that combines the characteristics from tennis and handball. Even though they are
two different sports they are different in many ways. The first difference is the environment, the
second difference is the requirements, and lastly the rules. Softball is an outdoor sport it has an open
field it also has an dugout for players that are not in the game it has a big gate to protect them if the
ball gets thrown or hit around that area the field has dirt and white squares around the circle of the

The Importance Of Life In My Life
Life is like a game of volleyball, unpredictable yet predictable at the same time. The game of
volleyball reflects the same ideas of what happens in my life. Thus, I created a setup of a volleyball
game inside a shadow box to represent the parts of who I am. I made the volleyball net with white
plastic canvas mesh, court lines with ribbon and players with some of my favorite pictures in the
past. I chose this type of model because there are multiple sides to it. Only one side of it can be
shown at a time but they are all there, this relates to how I present myself to others. In my opinion,
the most meaningful part to the model is the frame. This represents my foundation, the part that
makes me who I am. My parents have taught me important things in life like character and work
ethic from their own experiences. Both of my parents lead strong examples for my sister and I. They
have always shown me how to be the bigger person by caring for one another and doing the right
and honest thing. For example, if a cashier forgets to scan an item my parents will either tell the
cashier there is another item to scan or go back through the line to check out. Work ethic is also very
important because my parents say, "that's where success begins". Ever since I was a little kid, things
haven't come easy to me. I work hard for everything I do, I'm a person who goes the extra mile on
each homework assignment and studies for every single test. My parents give me inspiration and
drive to do

Volleyball
Volleyball was created in the United States, but is now played in 211 countries around the world.
William G. Morgan, the inventor, created a mix of basketball, baseball, tennis, and handball to make

a point you must make the ball reach the ground on the opponent's side of the court.
There are many rules in volleyball. Some basic rules are, that there are six people on a court at a

Personal Narrative: Middletown High School
Before i came to Middletown High I went to a small catholic school called Holy Cross. I Started
there in the 5th grade and graduated with my class in 8th. I had the best of times at that school. The
students and faculty welcomed me to the school and in their community with open arms just as the
people at Middletown High. I have so many fond memories from my time at Holy Cross but one
will stay in my memory forever. It all started when i was in the 6th grade at my friend Maddy's
Birthday Pool Party at the pool. We were all having a blast swimming , singing, and playing
volleyball. Well not much of the swimming on my part of the fun. at the time i was not the strongest
swimmer. I would only stand up in the pool until my chin touched the water. Which was pretty cool
since i was one of the tallest girls at the party. I was still having fun with my friends just not going
swimming. My friends Maddy and Dani went in the pool first then Maleah and Logan joined them.

Personal Narrative Analysis
Henry Ford once said, "If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself."
This quote meant nothing to me until my freshman volleyball season. Our school has always been
successful in volleyball, and, until then, I rationalized that it was solely from a great deal of talent,
but it turns out I understood wrong. There is one aspect of sports that our coaches at West Delaware
know how to teach better than almost any other coaches, and that is teamwork. I learned that after
one particular game last year.
The first set at DeWitt just ended. While breathing deeply, the team and I hustled over to our bench
to hear what we could improve for the next game. Glad we just won, most of our faces looked

I felt more defeated than I ever had before. Coach Voss realized we didn't work together as a team,
so to try to get us to work together, she sent us to a room to talk amongst ourselves. While tears
streamed down everyone's faces, we avoided making eye contact. We breathed heavy, unsteady
breaths as we waited for someone to be the first to talk.
Tehya finally spoke after an agonizing minute, "I think we just need to learn how to pick each other
up." The sound of sobs filled the room again for a moment.
"Yeah, but also just don't get down on yourself because that brings everyone else down too," said
JoAnna. Heads nodded in agreement. That kind of talk that went on for five minutes. When we
finished our meeting, red–eyed and puffy–faced, we headed back to the locker room feeling more
like a team than we ever had before. A sense of togetherness replaced the weight of frustration.
That feeling of teamwork helped us out tremendously. Just a week later, we played the best we ever
had and won most of our games at our WAMAC tournament. Giggles instead of tears filled the
court, along with beads of sweat from hustling and hard work. Encouraging "volleyball chatter"
filled the gym. On that last day of my freshman volleyball season, I learned that in order to have
success, you must have teamwork, and that day, we had

Dawn Silverberg's Introductory Essay
I was born in the same town that I live in now, Jacksonville, AL. I grew up a farm girl and attended
Pleasant Valley High School. In high school, I participated in all activities the school had to offer. I
was a cheerleader and a Student Government officer. I played volleyball, basketball and softball.
While I appeared to be your typical "bow–head," with permed blonde hair, there was a huge
difference between me and other "bow–heads" because I had access to strong teacher–leaders.
There were two teachers who developed me as a leader during grade school: Mr. Bobby Burns, my
sixth grade teacher, and my high school coach, Ms. Sandy Hunter. They taught me to see what needs
to be achieved and how to empower others to work as a team to achieve a goal. Whether it was to
win a State Tournament (which we did three times) or to make sure the students' voice was heard in
a diplomatic way, between the two of my favorite teachers, I always had guidance and support. After
I left high school, I spent one year at Gadsden State university on a volleyball scholarship, and then

Muscular And Volleyball Exercise Analysis
One physical activity I participate in outside of school is volleyball. Volleyball covers multiple
aspects of fitness, including, flexibility, muscular strength, and possibly a few variations of
endurance. Starting with flexibility, volleyball players need to be agile, have balance, and be quick
to the movement. When a ball is coming over the net as fast as it usually is, it is necessary that the
player gets in the appropriate position to react to the ball, whether it be in a low athletic position to
get ready for an underhand pass, or if it be squatting down some bit with arms bent slightly in the air
the ready position for a set. Proper form is vital for a successful pass and overall well performance.
Furthermore in the aspect of flexibility, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Muscular strength is an overall area that is necessary to perform most, if not all, actions in
volleyball, whether it be a controlled pass, accurate set, or aggressive serve. If you have greater
muscular strength, you will be able to exhibit a greater amount of force during a single action,
therefore leaving a greater impact. Suppose you are zone–serving to the back–left section, in order
to have a vigorous serve to that specific area, you need to have good muscular strength in your arms
to get the ball there. On the contrary, now suppose you are on the defending side of the server and
the ball is coming at you. You need to get in a low position with your legs and be able to adjust as
the ball approaches. Here, muscular strength in your legs are being worked. This athletic–position
stance also can cover areas of endurance, such as muscular endurance, since you are standing and
holding a squat position for an extended amount of time, and are most likely to move in a similar
low position as well. Furthermore, cardiorespiratory endurance can also be covered to some extent
in volleyball. If the teams are matched up well, both sides will have difficulty scoring against one
another and they will play continuously for a longer period of time. Also, the game generally goes to
25 points per game, with multiple games in a match, meaning that players are up and running
around for some time. In general, volleyball covers many key aspects and components of

Descriptive Essay On A Basketball Game
Score! "Lee County takes another point in the volleyball tournament" says the announcer. The team
starts to fall apart as we lose our game towards Lee County High School home of the Lady Trojans.
The score is 24–14 as we fall behind. While i'm sitting on the bench waiting to sub in with my other
teammate I began to feel nervous. What if I mess up the game for everyone. "7 for 40 you may go."
says the Ref. I start to play with my hands which is a sign of me getting nervous about something.
All the players in Lee County are very serious and aggressive, which is a good thing just not to the
extent they are. The whistle begins to blow for the girl on the other team to serve the ball. Right
when she hits the ball I noticed the ball was heading straight towards me "Mine mine mine!" I said.
My arms extended out into the playing position and I passed the ball to Nicky which is our setter.
The setter on the team has a hard position because they constantly hear us call for the setter to set us
a ball to hit and they have to be able to get to the ball to receive a second hit. Unfortunately Lee
County got the winning point to this game but the next time we play them we will have the winning
point. Once we returned to the high school my mom was waiting on me in the car. "How was the
game? Did you win?" she asked me. The more I thought about the game it upsetted me even more.

Indoor and Beach Volleyball have gained immense popularity over the years. They're both very fun
sports that anyone at any age can enjoy. Although most people would think both sports are the same,
the truth is they are very different. The environment, rules of play and the collegiate opportunities
that many players have are a few of the main components that separate these sports. Indoor
volleyball was invented in Holyoke Massachusetts by William G. Morgan on February 9, 1895.
Originally, the sport was known as "Mintonette" until it was changed a year later to "volleyball"

My Experience At High School Essay

  • 1. My Experience At High School Essay Sitting here now looking back I am not as devastated as I was then. I think about all the great outcomes of the situation and I can be happy thinking about it. Of course, there are still some parts that make me want to take it back, but who knows what kind of person I would be without this sort of humbling experience. Before I go any further let me go back about two years to the summer before my Junior year of high school. I was sitting on the bench at a summer league basketball game, four days after school got out. Basketball was once my favorite sport, but at this point in my life I had grown to love volleyball and track much more. So, while on the bench watching the game about to start I wonder to myself how I got myself talked into this stupid game. There were only two games left and it's not like I am a huge contributor to the team anyway. As I sit there thinking about how much I dislike the sport I get ordered to go in. I do as I am told and run over to the end line. My eyes are fixed on the girl with the ball waiting for the whistle to be blown so she can throw the ball in. I get ready to play defense and then the whistle blows and she re–enters the court. I go to take a step back to stay in front just like I had been coached to do for many years. As I go to take this step my knee gives out. I try again to run down the court and ignore the pain but the thing was, it didn't hurt. At all. My knee would just not do what it was meant to do and every time I took a step it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Descriptive Essay About Orange Beach The Fun and Horrific Orange Beach Trip My friends and I had taken a weekend trip to Orange Beach. We decided to stay in a condo for the entire weekend. The day that we were going to Orange Beach my friend Hasan was graduating from Madison Central High School in 2015, and he was getting his parents to drive him to Orange Beach so that he could hang out with us for the weekend. We did multiple events such as driving down to Orange Beach and back home, going to the beach, biking, waiting for dinner, living in a condo, and celebrating a friend graduating High School. The events on this trip had many fun and horrific event happen in them. This may be a reason why a person does not take a high school graduate. On the drive down towards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We made teams of two people per team, and in one of the games of FIFA my team was down by five goals at halftime, however, we came back to win seven to six in extra time. After a while, we started to play a cricket game called Don Bradman Cricket 2015; however, it was only two players. Which made us to take turns playing the game. Nobody could beat my friend Muzamil, but Affan was the closest to beat him, but in the last over, which is equivalence to an inning, he completely collapsed and lost. Muzamil ended up beating everyone by at least fourteen runs. Once we started to get bored of playing Don Bradman Cricket 2015, we went to the beach to relax in the sun and play some games there as well. After playing the PS3 Games in the condo, we went down to the beach around four pm. When we were at the beach, we started to play volleyball. When we were playing volleyball, the volleyball would be served towards the middle of the volleyball court where no one was calling out who would hit the ball. Since no one called out to hit the ball, my friends had to start to avoid each other so they did not run into each other. After we played volleyball, we went into the water and started to throw the football around to each other. While Muzamil threw the football in towards the water, a strong wave came in and made my friends and I fall into the water. We also brought along a cricket bat and a tennis ball and started ... • 5. Knocking A Volleyball: A Team Sport Volleyball is a team sport that is played by two teams consisting of 6 players each on the court. Every player on the court is given a different job. A game lasts about 90 minutes. Volleyball is a sport that requires proper nutrition, physiology, biomechanics, and the knowledge of anatomy. A volleyball bump is also known as a pass. It is the first contact with the ball following a serve from the other team. The first bump is hit close to the net, so that it can be set up for a spike. 1)There are three different types of muscles used while bumping a volleyball such as the shoulder, elbow, and knee muscles. The joint used in the shoulder muscle is the shoulder girdle and the action you can do is elevation. When bumping a volleyball, the agonist muscles used are the upper trapezius, rhomboids, and levator scapulae. While the antagonist muscles are latissimus dorsi, pectoralis major and minor, serratus anterior, and trapezius. The bones used are the humerus, scapula, and clavicle. The deep muscle group that moves the shoulder are the rotator cuff muscles and tendons. They control our ability to raise our arm from our side (abduction). ... • 7. What I Learned From Failure Research Paper The lessons we learn from failure will help us achieve success later in life. My experience in seventh grade in not making the volleyball team was, at the time, the hardest thing that I had gone through. In the weeks that followed tryouts, it was that failure that led me to discover what I am good at and, in turn, being successful from it. Not making the team helped me become a better soccer player and taught me that success in one thing can come from failure of another. It was the beginning of the seventh grade when I tried out for the volleyball team. I had been practicing all summer long to get better and I felt like I would be good enough to make the team. I practiced for many hours each day to improve on my skills and I saw progress each day. Bumping, setting, spiking and serving, I practiced it all. I knew that most of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After signing in and receiving a number to put on my shirt, we began warming up and passing the ball while the coaches set up drill for us to do to so they can evaluate our skills. We did a few drills and I felt like I did good, except for one drill which was serving. I couldn't serve overhand as well as the other girls. I tried so hard to make it over the net each time, but couldn't make it over consistently. This was so frustrating for me because I knew this would hurt my chance of making the team. At the end of the day, the coaches gave me a letter saying that I made the first cut and they want to see me play again. When the next day of tryouts came, I felt like I had a good chance of making the team. That day after tryouts, I received a second letter but this one said that I didn't make the team, to keep working hard for tryouts next year. I was crushed that I didn't make the team. I learned that volleyball was not my strong suit and that I need to focus on other things that I'm good at, like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Volleyball Monologue Memoir What do you think when you hear volleyball; serve, bit, pass, net and ball. It's so much more than that it's aggression, passion, oomph, uphill battle, and love. At first I thought volleyball was just for fun, but then one day that all changed. "Hurry up and make sure that you have everything you need," my mom shouted. "Okay, I'll be out in a minute," I replied. I promptly jammed my shoes into my bag, zipped it and rushed out my bedroom and down to the front door. My mom rushed in and said, "Let's go." We seemed to accelerate down the road. As we approached the gymnasium the car and dashed into the building. Legion points into the game everyone started to glance around frantically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the game finished I headed to my little brother's football game. Later we headed home and as I headed towards my room my mom said, "Wait." I turned around with anger written all over my face. "What's happened at the game when you came out?" she asked. I pierced my lips, then spoke, "When we were playing we were out of rotation and one of my friends who was in the setter's position typically isn't comfortable playing setter so I was asking her if she wanted to switch." I replied, "Then when I came out she started to yell at me to stop yelling at my teammates and then when I told her we were out of rotation she told me to stop blaming my teammates. Then she said if I don't stop talking back, she would bench me the next game." She thought for a minute, then said, "Okay." "I hate having her as a coach," I retorted. I made a fist at the thought of her. She said, "Either you love volleyball or you don't the coach doesn't matter," she replied. At that moment I knew that I love volleyball and I love to play and I'm not gonna let anything get in the way of that. • 11. High School Sport Bruised knees, sore legs, and tired arms were what my high–school years consisted of. I had always wanted to be part of a sports team, but middle school sports didn't count because no one took it seriously. During my freshman year in high school, I found out about volleyball try–outs and immediately signed up and attended each practice. For once, I felt a sense of belonging – there were rookies and there were pros – I was never marginalized and was accepted whether or not I had experience. Volleyball kept me motivated – it made me work tirelessly to make the team. Though I knew I wasn't the best player, my team constantly supported my efforts to become better. Lady Mustang Research Paper Energetic, hype, supportive, loud these are just a few of the words Mustang fans used to describe the atmosphere at the Lady Mustang's second district volleyball game on September 8, 2015. The season started off a little rocky with a tough loss against the Grace Prep Lions on September 3, 2015. However, our Lady Mustangs came ready to fight for their second district game against the Temple Christian Eagles. The JV team defeated the eagles in two and the varsity won their match 3– 0. The Lady Mustang volleyball team has the expectation bar set pretty high this year. Having only graduated one senior, the volleyball team consists of a lot of returning players from last year, whose hopes for this season are even higher than last. When asked what this season has in store for the lady mustangs, senior Bay Brunson commented, "I'm looking forward the making lots of memories for my senior year. Everytime she walked up to the line a hush would come over the crowd as she bounced the ball repetitively before tossing it up into the air and slamming it over the net (possibly a run on you be the judge). The Fellowship fans would go crazy as she scored Ace after Ace. Although the JV team was without their main setter, Alyssa Guerrero, the team still managed to fight and pull out a win. • 15. Jeremey Soehnlin: Belleville West Football Players Jeremey Soehnlin received the Defensive Player of the year from the Belleville West Football Coaches. Soehnlin has been apart of the athletic department of Belleville West since his freshman year, and now, in his senior year, his team spirit and skill are being recognized. "I started out with Center, my first year, and I also played a little bit of defensive line, but it wasn't much. Sophomore year, I was able to specialize a little bit more on offensive line, and I actually moved up to guard," Soehnlin said. Soehnlin played on the freshman team for the majority of his freshman year, and then was brought up to play Varsity for the playoffs. Soehnlin also is on the swim team, and played volleyball for a year, is on Hy News, and in Key Club, and maintains a high grade point average. Jeremey who played several sports growing up, never really connected with anything until football. "He didn't really get excited about sports until after the 4th grade, when he started doing summer swim team. Then, that fall he convinced us to let him play Little Devils football. I was against it at first, but was overruled," Mrs. Soehnlin said. Soehnlin now has one of the most dangerous positions on the field, as his primary job is to tackle the quarterback. "He takes a lot of hits on the field, which could lead to potential injuries," Katie Boyer, senior at Belleville West and Jeremy's girlfriend said. During the Lincoln Way East game, Soehnlin got a concussion after taking a hit on the field, and that did not help his mom's, or girlfriends anxiety. "The hardest part is not knowing how he s if he gets hit during a game...It helps that the coaches and the trainers take it seriously, but as a mom, I still worry," Mrs Soehnlin ... What My Hard Work Has Shown Me What My Hard Work Has Shown Me The beat of my heart thumps harder by the second as my high school volleyball coach announces at the 2016 end of the year banquet, that their is one Honorable Mention and one All–Conference award within the Wright County. After playing volleyball for eight years as a setter, assisting 1,134 kills (with my two and a half years on varsity), and receiving Heart–Beat of the Team Award, mentally and physically I knew there might be a chance I had a shot at getting one of the two awards. However my hardworking, and valuable teammates are just as talented. Captain, starting libero, and MVP Skyler Wallisch can get low and pick up anything. She's my right hand as a setter, I can rely on her to get the first pass up to me. She is a very important player and has different colored jersey to signify her position as a libero on the court. Also Co–Captain Ashley Fuhrmann has a good chance at getting one of the awards. She can jump really high for her height, and swing fast. Many of my assists came from her. The Honorable Mention Award is given to a player whose name was brought up, and signified as a valuable athlete in a meeting held with all the Wright County volleyball coaches. The All–Conference Award is handed out to six players out of the entire Wright County Volleyball District (East and West, consisting of fourteen teams) whom the volleyball coaches believe would make the best team in the Wright County. • 19. Rhetorical Devices In Everyday Life Tone, engages your audience in an inviting manner that makes them willing to hear your message. Therefore, tone, is everything when we interact with others. In our everyday lives, our tone shifts several times throughout our day. We speak to everyone, in different rhetorical situations in a certain kind of tone. You would not speak to your parents, grandparents, or even just your boss, the way that you would speak to your younger siblings, or perhaps, even your enemy. Many people question why our tone changes, why we can't just be our true selves ALL THE TIME! The reality is, we have to hold a certain level of respect to ourselves, and know the authority or position in society that others around us have obtained. From my own experiences, I know that tone does in fact shift and change in every rhetorical situation that I encounter. I would first off like to say that I am a strong believer in the saying "respect is earned and not given", but I also am a believer in everyone's right to be spoken to in a civil manner. I grew up in an environment that taught me to speak to others the way that I would like to be spoken to. More ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The way I write differs from what the assignment is, if it's just a free write or personal notes, I am allowed to write pretty sloppy and careless. If I am assigned to write a turn–in essay, I will slow my writing down so that it can be neat and proper. The way I dress depends on the occasion, if it's a beach day, I can dress down and more freely. If we have a birthday party, graduation party, or a wedding to attend, I wear the fancier things in my closet, to somewhat impress not only the people who will be there, but myself as ... It is incredibly difficult to select a group of teenagers that will (1) all get along, (2) work together seamlessly, and (3) respect their coaches. The formula for the perfect team is unknowable. One negative spirit always exists to drag the team down, to deflate their motives and increase their egos; but that does not have any effect on the sportsmanship of a team. Sportsmanship does not rely on the cohesiveness of a team. It does not correlate with how many bonding trips a team endures or how many groups of friends are on the team. It is not entirely internal or entirely external. Sportsmanship is not simply the willingness of an athlete to respect other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, attitudes and jealousy grew. We dominated over other JV2 teams on the court, due to the lack of completion rather than our skill; but we struggled in practice. None of us could figure out how to work together. Not until our second tournament. The morning bus ride was quiet and unassuming. Everyone sat separately and stared out their own windows, listening to their own music. Upon arrival, we pulled up kneepads, put on out ankle braces, tied our shoes, and trudged onto the court for warmup. Even with no energy, we won our first game, and the one after that, and the one after that. First in our pool, yet there was no real celebration. Bracket play started and, finally, we met some teams that actually challenged us. While energy started to rise, so did the attitudes. After actually playing, for once, cockiness spread throughout the team. Then, after fighting our way past a small team in bright red jerseys, a game won purely by luck and consistent serving, we found ourselves in the championship game. Our final opponents hailed from one of those pretentious private school in Portland. We had watched part of one of their games earlier, which did nothing to boost our confidence. While most of them acted tough, our team was an accumulation of low self–confidence and highly neurotic girls. Psyched out by the mere height of the team (they had two six–foot–five ... I didn't have very many friends when I first came to middle school and I wasn't always very athletic. I became interested in cheer in 6th grade, so I tried out and it turns out I actually made it. I gained a lot of friends from participating in this sport, so I tried out for volleyball next. All of my friends were doing it and I thought it would be fun. It turned out to be the best experience to share with all of my middle school friends, so I continued these sports throughout 8th grade and hope to continue in high school also. In cheer, we would practice at least once a week after school, sometimes more. We would go to the locker room's to set our stuff down and change into shorts and shoes. In volleyball we would have practice almost everyday of the week to prepare for our games and learn the spots we would play on the court. We would go to different schools to play against them in games, but in cheer we never went to other schools to cheer at games. Our volleyball team lost our first two games, but after that we practiced everyday and went the rest of the season, eleven games, undefeated. On the way back home from the volleyball games it was late, but we would stop at a fast food restaurant to get something to eat. Volleyball is a sport that I relish and I find myself to be rather superior at. Earlier last week, I set up an appointment with Coach Dawn to examine my volleyball skills, therefore I could get a spot on the team. Day in, and day out, I was perfecting my performance, therefore Coach Dawn did not have to hesitate on choosing me to be on the team. When it was time for me to show off my skills I was beyond confident. We began running drills, I missed a few serves, but I was still amped up to do more. Less than seven minutes into our practice she had me gather all the volleyballs and put them in the cart. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Performance Analysis : The Game Volleyball is a very popular sport worldwide, with millions of people participating and playing a game at least once a week (Kenny, & Gregory, 2006). Volleyball is differentiated from the rest of team sports, because although it is a sport with discrete skills, the game has a cyclical and sequential pattern (Beal, 1989). It is possible to find a sequence of the actions in the game (graph 1). Regardless of the rule changes, the game is constructed by a series of individual skills that are directly related to the team's performance and proficiency. In comparative evaluations of the game's skills. Performance analysis is a way to understand the factors explaining success in elite–level sports. It gives coaches knowledge of the sport so they can think of ways to develop playing and training (Bergeles, 2009). Performance analysis has been recently utilized in different levels of volleyball in many studies (Bergeles, 2009 – Ismail, 2003). In fact that the tendencies are still prevalent in high–level volleyball, the rally point system compelled both players and trainers to focus their attention on avoiding errors that would reward the opponent with an easy point. Thus, many teams continue to strive toward perfect execution of the basic skills. (Laios, 2004) A volleyball match consists of different volleyball basic skill executions, which are serve, reception, set, Spike, block, and Gig. There is technical variability in the execution of these basic skills. (Lobietti 2006) . ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. High School To College Transition Analysis My freshman year at UIS has been everything I could've ever wanted it to be and more. From the moment that I decided to come here, I knew that special things were in store. I was extremely excited to play volleyball and work toward my future career as a physical therapist, but little did I know that along with those things would come treasured friendships, limitless knowledge, incredible experiences, and unspeakable promise for the next three years of my academic and athletic endeavors. The transition from high school to college presented some challenges and required changes. Even with that being said, I can happily report that my adaptation was seamless and smooth. Being a college athlete at this level requires more than I expected. Much of my fall semester outside of the classroom was consumed by volleyball. Between strength training, workouts, practices, and games, there was not room in my schedule for anything else besides schoolwork. I wouldn't have it any other way though. I am so thankful and grateful to be a part of my team. This past season, volleyball helped me to learn and grow as a player and as a person. • 31. Biomechanical Analysis Project: Overhand Volleyball Biomechanical Analysis Project: Overhand Volleyball Serve The purpose of this project is to analyze an overhand volleyball serve from a biomechanical perspective. Biomechanics is defined as forces and movements on living systems. It looks at the internal and external forces that act on the body, and the movements that these forces create. By understanding the biomechanical concepts, you can train your body to move with accuracy. It also enables us to develop new skills, correct minor mistakes, develop new equipment design, and improve safety to reduce the risk for injury. The volleyball serve almost looks like a throw–like movement because the joints used extend one after another. The reason behind this is that within the movement, the shoulder extends before the elbow and wrist; the shoulder actually begins to extend while the elbow is still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you toss the ball up, keeping your arm extended in front of you with the ball in your hand causes protraction and internal rotation at the shoulder. When brining the arm forward for the swing, internal rotation of the shoulder, extension at the elbow, and slight flexion of the fingers when they are forming to the ball. It is important to snap your wrist after your hand contacts the ball, causing flexion of the wrist, which creates the ball to have a down spin. My continuous interest in sports has influenced my choice of this topic to provide me a field experience and a deeper understanding. I have always been interested and engaged in play and sports. Volleyball is my favorite sport and was the first organised sport I played in junior secondary school at age 12. I have been involved in several competitive sports at from the amateur to the national/elite level. I have participated in team sports (e.g., volleyball and soccer), field events (e.g., high jump, long jump), and track events (e.g., 100m, 200m, 400m, 800). I chose to focus on volleyball for this project because it is a sport with which I am most comfortable and familiar. 1.4 Justification of Study The anthropology of sports is a cross–cultural sub–discipline that focuses on analyses of sports–related–social problems (Blanchard 1995:23). Although physical anthropologists for decades have done studies on body types, morphology, and functions, less work has been done in the area of cultural, social and psychological settings with regards to the way individuals live and also perform (Malina 1972). • 45. The Importance Of Life In My Life Life is like a game of volleyball, unpredictable yet predictable at the same time. The game of volleyball reflects the same ideas of what happens in my life. Thus, I created a setup of a volleyball game inside a shadow box to represent the parts of who I am. I made the volleyball net with white plastic canvas mesh, court lines with ribbon and players with some of my favorite pictures in the past. I chose this type of model because there are multiple sides to it. Only one side of it can be shown at a time but they are all there, this relates to how I present myself to others. In my opinion, the most meaningful part to the model is the frame. This represents my foundation, the part that makes me who I am. My parents have taught me important things in life like character and work ethic from their own experiences. Both of my parents lead strong examples for my sister and I. They have always shown me how to be the bigger person by caring for one another and doing the right and honest thing. For example, if a cashier forgets to scan an item my parents will either tell the cashier there is another item to scan or go back through the line to check out. Work ethic is also very important because my parents say, "that's where success begins". Ever since I was a little kid, things haven't come easy to me. • 63. Dawn Silverberg Introduction Dawn Silverberg's Introductory Essay Dawn M. Silverberg Jacksonville State University Dawn Silverberg's Introductory Essay I was born in the same town that I live in now, Jacksonville, AL. I grew up a farm girl and attended Pleasant Valley High School. In high school, I participated in all activities the school had to offer. I was a cheerleader and a Student Government officer. I played volleyball, basketball and softball. While I appeared to be your typical "bow–head," with permed blonde hair, there was a huge difference between me and other "bow–heads" because I had access to strong teacher–leaders. There were two teachers who developed me as a leader during grade school: Mr. Bobby Burns, my sixth grade teacher, and my high school coach, Ms. Sandy Hunter. They taught me to see what needs to be achieved and how to empower others to work as a team to achieve a goal. Whether it was to win a State Tournament (which we did three times) or to make sure the students' voice was heard in a diplomatic way, between the two of my favorite teachers, I always had guidance and support. After I left high school, I spent one year at Gadsden State university on a volleyball scholarship, and then moved to New York to attend college at The Fashion Institute of Technology. I was very ... • 65. Muscular And Volleyball Exercise Analysis One physical activity I participate in outside of school is volleyball. Volleyball covers multiple aspects of fitness, including, flexibility, muscular strength, and possibly a few variations of endurance. Starting with flexibility, volleyball players need to be agile, have balance, and be quick to the movement. When a ball is coming over the net as fast as it usually is, it is necessary that the player gets in the appropriate position to react to the ball, whether it be in a low athletic position to get ready for an underhand pass, or if it be squatting down some bit with arms bent slightly in the air the ready position for a set. Proper form is vital for a successful pass and overall well performance. Furthermore in the aspect of flexibility, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Muscular strength is an overall area that is necessary to perform most, if not all, actions in volleyball, whether it be a controlled pass, accurate set, or aggressive serve. If you have greater muscular strength, you will be able to exhibit a greater amount of force during a single action, therefore leaving a greater impact. Suppose you are zone–serving to the back–left section, in order to have a vigorous serve to that specific area, you need to have good muscular strength in your arms to get the ball there. On the contrary, now suppose you are on the defending side of the server and the ball is coming at you. You need to get in a low position with your legs and be able to adjust as the ball approaches. Here, muscular strength in your legs are being worked. This athletic–position stance also can cover areas of endurance, such as muscular endurance, since you are standing and holding a squat position for an extended amount of time, and are most likely to move in a similar low position as well. Furthermore, cardiorespiratory endurance can also be covered to some extent in volleyball. If the teams are matched up well, both sides will have difficulty scoring against one another and they will play continuously for a longer period of time. Also, the game generally goes to 25 points per game, with multiple games in a match, meaning that players are up and running around for some time. In general, volleyball covers many key aspects and components of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Descriptive Essay On A Basketball Game Score! "Lee County takes another point in the volleyball tournament" says the announcer. The team starts to fall apart as we lose our game towards Lee County High School home of the Lady Trojans. The score is 24–14 as we fall behind. While i'm sitting on the bench waiting to sub in with my other teammate I began to feel nervous. What if I mess up the game for everyone. "7 for 40 you may go." says the Ref. I start to play with my hands which is a sign of me getting nervous about something. All the players in Lee County are very serious and aggressive, which is a good thing just not to the extent they are. The whistle begins to blow for the girl on the other team to serve the ball. Right when she hits the ball I noticed the ball was heading straight towards me "Mine mine mine!" I said. My arms extended out into the playing position and I passed the ball to Nicky which is our setter. The setter on the team has a hard position because they constantly hear us call for the setter to set us a ball to hit and they have to be able to get to the ball to receive a second hit. Unfortunately Lee County got the winning point to this game but the next time we play them we will have the winning point. Once we returned to the high school my mom was waiting on me in the car. "How was the game? Did you win?" she asked me. The more I thought about the game it upsetted me even more. "Well we lost." I replied. The whole ride home was silent except the sound of the radio talking about all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For most of my service hours I ran volleyball camp at school, and I also ran concessions. This falls under "Call to Family, Community, and Participation" because it helps individuals grow not only in a sport but also a community. As they are participating and learning new skills they are also learning life lessons and making friends. We held a camp for the Jr. Titans that ran in July. I loved seeing how happy these kids are learning and playing a new sport. They were all so eager to learn and play, even if they were not able to do the thing they were learning. Beach Volleyball vs. Indoor Volleyball Ashley Lechleidner–Rodriguez English Composition 1101 September 30, 2011 Illustration/Compare–Contrast Indoor and Beach Volleyball have gained immense popularity over the years.
