2. INTRODUCTION
v Plastic pollution is a significant issue that requires
immediate attention in the UAE community.
v Plastic bag pollution is a pressing issue in the UAE,
negatively impacting our environment and
communities (Abu et al., 2022).
v Addressing this problem is crucial for the UAE
community's well-being, sustainability, and preserving
our natural resources.

3. ONE PROBLEM
Plastic Bag Pollution in the UAE Community
Plastic bags are a major contributor to environmental
pollution.
Plastic bag pollution in the UAE leads to environmental
degradation, marine life endangerment, and health
hazards.
They take hundreds of years to decompose and often end
up in water bodies, harming marine life.
Over 5 million plastic bags are used daily, contributing to
X% of marine pollution (Environment Agency - Abu
Dhabi. (2021).
Lack of awareness and responsible disposal practices
among community members.
Improper disposal leads to clogged drains, soil
contamination, and harm to wildlife.
"I often see plastic bags littered in our neighborhood,
affecting our environment and quality of life’’.

4. ONE SOLUTION
• Adopting reusable bags and promoting eco-
friendly alternatives to reduce plastic bag usage.
• Establish community awareness campaigns,
provide reusable bags, and collaborate with local
businesses for sustainable packaging (Pandey,
2016).
• Educating the community about the benefits of
reusable bags is essential.
• The UAE can follow the example of other
countries that have successfully banned plastic
bags."
