The process of building and maintaining libraries

ways to meet the need of library users

collection building the library uses their own sources either given to
it or self generated sources from penalties, by selling their products
and services also

libraries or people of influence gifts their belongings to the library.

• The process of making library material searchable

• The process comprises of many of the elements such as
accessioning in which library assigns a unique number
to acquired material, classification by assigning
notation to library material in order to arrange the
material on shelves in the library, cataloguing

location of the documents, labeling it means to post a

• The process of prolonging age of library documents by
treating the library belongings from natural or
manmade disasters such as :
• Room maintenance (temperature, dust, humidity, light
control, preventive meurse from mishandling, insects
etc.
• Conservation treatment of damaged library material by
laminating, fumigation, de-acidification, washing etc.
• Binding that is a common activity is the library to bind
the books and other material to save them from directly
damage to the inside.
