Last Stand of Fox Company Essays
The story of Fox Company's last stand in the frozen hills of northern Korea serves As a testament to the human will in the face of overwhelming
forces of opposition. The never say die attitude of every man on that hill is proof why the Marines can take every hardship that the world can throw at
them and still have the ingrained training while having the attitude to fight back, keep moving, with the will to never give up.
There were many brave heroes at the battle of Fox Hill but one Private Hector Cafferata's story stands above them all. On the first night at Fox Hill,
Cafferata found his foxhole surrounded by the enemy as the Chinese passed through the gaps in the American lines during the first night of the attack.

His buddy, blinded by a grenade, took to reloading Hector Cafferata's M1, handing him a fresh weapon after every emptied clip. Cafferata's foxhole
was the only thing that prevented the Chinese from splitting the defensive line of the hill, with Cafferata being credited with killing almost 40 enemy
soldiers during that first night.
Nominated for the Medal of Honor immediately after the conflict his commanding officer stated that Cafferata had probably killed more than 100
enemy soldiers that night, but he didn't think anyone would believe him, so he quoted the official number at 36. Hector Cafferata would receive the
Medal of Honor at the cost of right hand that was hit by a sniper's bullet. He would never use that hand again, but learned how to shoot with his left
hand.
The conflict at Fox Hill lasted seven days followed by a grueling march of wounded back to base, a temporary safe spot that would also be taken by
the Chinese shortly after. Their retreat, or Major General Oliver Smith's infamously quoted "attack in a different direction!" was escorted by the
Ridgerunners of 1st Battalion's Apha, Bravo, and Charlie companies who came down from the Chosin Reservoir and had to fight through the Chinese
that surrounded Fox Hill. By the time the Ridgerunners arrived by the look of the arriving Marines you could not tell who was rescuing whom. In the
end Fox Company had 26 dead, 89 wounded and three missing. There were at least 1,000 Chinese

World War II: American Vs. German Weapons
World War II was one of the biggest wars of all time. From the destruction in Europe to the devastation in Japan. The soldiers that fought in the battles
were one of the greatest assets of the war. They are the ones who did the fighting and fired the guns. When the citizens bought war bonds back then,
salespeople used to say "a bond is a bullet in your best man's gun." But what about the gun itself? The U.S was coming out with new weaponry for
soldiers. They were making semi automatic rifles and submachine guns, surpassing German bolt action rifles. We were also surpassing our allies, like
France and the Soviet Union, who couldn't make semi automatic rifles. (""infantry Weapons"+"World War II"")Going by the facts of the weaponry the

It took at least 70 dollars to make one Thompson and it took only 24 dollars to make an MP40. With this problem, the U.S made a new model, the
M3, nicknamed the "grease gun." It was a smaller version of the Thompson and it was completely made of metal. It used the same 30 round clip as
the M1 and had a very special barrel, so it would never overheat. The U.S was able to cut the price to make these M3's by at least 65%. (Bull,
Stephen.) The U.S won many battles with both submachine guns and they continued on as

Essay about The History of Guns in America
The History of Guns in America
What is the importance of the gun? The gun is one of the most important tools in the defense of our nation. Guns are responsible for a lot of death and
injuries, but these things were going on before the existence of the gun. Guns aren't the reason for the death and injuries, they are just a means to it.
They are tools and an engineering marvel of our age. The gun has evolved from a simple weapon that caused limited destruction to the modern gun
that is so fast and powerful it is capable of mass destruction. Through the evolution of the gun, it has become a political tool.
The first guns used in America were a simple machine where the person did most of the work. Theuser measured and put the powder ... Show more

Early bullets were designed to be placed in this new loading system. The classic way of having the powder and pellets separate was too slow and
messy. This early design of the bullet is very similar to the simple modern one. It had a metal casing with powder placed behind the pellets or in
some cases one large pellet (Hogg 54). With these being loaded from the side on the new rifles they were capable of firing a shot much faster then
the gun of a hundred years earlier. Even though the gun had become more powerful the Civil War was still a political war.
Next, the first truly automatic gun was invented and that was the Gatling Gun. It was built back in the late 1880's and was capable of firing hundreds
of shots per minute. Dr. Richard Jordan Gatling took the ideas others of a fully automatic gun to the next step and made it work well. His gun had a
constant feed of bullets that did not stop firing until its cartridge was empty. The gun used several barrels so that none of the barrels would overheat
from constant use (Hogg 85–86). It was however a stationary gun. His gun was a great success. It was the first automatic weapon and was first one
capable of killing mass numbers.
Next in the development of machine guns came the Maxim, the machine gun with only one barrel. This gun with a belt of bullets that fed in one side
and the empty belt came out the other side. It used the explosion from the bullets firing to load the next bullet. With the use of different

Ww1 Carbine Vs Garand Case Study
Part one: the Differences between the Two Primary Issued Service Rifles
The primary rifle of the U.S. during the war would be either the M1 Garand or the M1 Carbine. Both firearms were widely manufactured with both
having more than six million manufactured. However, there are a few key differences that give both advantages and disadvantages.
The M1 Garand's main advantage over the M1 Carbine was the sheer power of the round that it fired. The Garand fired the full size 30–06 Springfield
cartridge used previously in the M1903 Springfield during WWI1. The Carbine on the other hand fired the much more manageable .30 Carbine round.
The differences between these rounds allowed for the Carbine to excel in close to medium ranges while the Garand ... Show more content on

This made for a much faster fire rate then the bolt action rifles at the time giving the US troops a massive advantage compared to the German forces
who were armed primarily with karabiner 98k rifles3 as well as being well suited to shut down Japanese banzaii charges quite easily. Another benefit to
these weapons is the ability to make subsequent shots without having to messing with a bolt to fire the next shot and potentially losing the target that
you were just trying to hit.
Part two: US submachine guns
The two different Submachine guns that the US used during WWII would be the Thompson submachine gun and the M3. Both used the exact same type
of ammunition and were both ruggedly reliable firearms.
The Thompson submachine gun was the primary submachine gun of the war with production reaching one million twenty five thousand by the end of
WWII. The gun itself was simplified over the war repeatedly to try and bring the price down45. Furthermore there was an issue of the gun weighing
more than ten pounds unloaded making it one of the heaviest SMGs at the time. It was, however, very popular by many different branches outside of
the intended armored divisions and saw use by special forces in both the European and Pacific

Argumentative Essay On Gun Control
During the early history of the United States, gun regulations were a state centered issued. In 1827, Georgia was one of the first state to try to
implement gun regulations by passing a bill that attempted to ban handguns. The law is ruled unconstitutional and thrown out (Utter, 2000). As gun
technology progressed during World War One and the Thompson submachinegun was developed a change for stricter gun regulations was inevitable.
The History News Network reported that, "at least 27 states enacted measures to restrict or outlaw the sale and possession of fully automatic weapons
prior to 1934 (Spiltzer, 2015)". The country understood the need to regulate fully automatic weapons but the issue would be further expounded due to

Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. The law aimed to strengthen the firearms licensing process to, "limit foreign and interstate transport of firearms"
(Utter, pg. 357). This is still an issue the country is faced with today, but the idea was to strength the boarders so weapons that were purchased in states
with more relaxed gun laws, like Tennessee, would not be transported into state more strict regulations, such as New York. This law also aimed to
limited the weapons that where entering the United States. Another important part of the legislation was to prevent fire arm dealers from selling to

Workplace Ethical Dilemma
A student goes to college and takes an Ethics course. He or she comes out of the class thinking that he or she will never compromise their ethics for
any job. The thought is usually that they will come out and change the world. Then reality strikes once he or she begins looking for a job. Jobs are
scare these days, and he or she ends of compromising himself or herself to keep the job they thought they could change the world with. Then when
facing a dilemma at work, which he or she never thought he or she would ever have to make, suddenly a test of their ethics happens. According to

A teenager who has a gun will feel driven to use the weapon whenever they can, (Child.net, 2011). When explaining this fact to the mother, she
does not seem to fear him. I suggested to her that it may not be a safe situation for her, and she must think of her own safety as well as Joe's safety.
If Joe is not around the home with the gun, he cannot hurt anyone with it. I suggested the woman at the very least go home first and search the house
herself. She would not do as I suggest. Personally, I feared for the lives of three people in the home. I would not want an illegal weapon in my home
and certainly would not want it in the possession of a teenager. This ultimately would make the mother responsible for any crimes committed from an
ethical standpoint because she is aware that there may be a gun.
Solving the dilemma
For this particular problem, I had to let the client go home. The mother insisted that she was not scared of her son and wanted to take him home. I
tried everything I could to convince her to let me place the boy somewhere else, but to no avail. I called my supervisor, and she agreed that there was
nothing more I could do to keep her from taking Joe home. I asked the police to please patrol the area that night and I asked the physician what he
thought of the client's mental state. Although I did a little screening on the client myself, and did not believe he was experiencing any mental health
issues. The only

Loud weapon fire, noise, the amount of fire and bigger projectiles do not kill. Hitting what you're aiming at stops the threat. But, just as important as
accuracy is suppressive fire. Just like the iconic 1930's era Thompson submachine gun the X–Products 50 round drum skeleton and hexagon shows a
difference in carrying capacity between a box and a drum. Both single and double drum designs have the advantage of storing more ammunition. In the
military I, could use a 50–round drum attached to my M4 I, immediately realized the advantage of being able to take precise shots or even lay down

This rifle is also capable of accepting a drum like rotary magazine. The Ruger 10/22 can accept a; 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 round magazines. When
conducting weapon maintenance, the user must ensure that both the weapon and magazine are cleaned. On the 10/22 rotary magazine the user should
begin by performing a function test. Spring tension should be tested by firmly pushing inside the magazine well. Next you will need a 9/64–inch hex
wrench as your only tool for disassembly. Insert the hex wrench into the screw and hold the magazine cap which is labeled with how many
cartridges it can hold. Begin unscrewing the magazine and push on the screw which will start to release the cap nut and magazine cap. Next the user
will remove the screw from the magazine as well as the magazine throat. The user will now remove the magazine rotor and start the cleaning process
with a plastic safe cleaner. To re–assemble place the screw into the rear of the magazine and inset the magazine throat with the large round peg side
first. Next insert the magazine rotor long side first and rotate clockwise until inside feed lips. The user will now place the magazine cap on and match
the magazine cap with the spring. Next the user will turn the magazine cap clockwise to begin securing the magazine. The final step is to tighten with
the hex screw and perform a function

Gun Firearms Should Be Handled
In 1787, when the U.S. Constitution was written, did our founding fathers plan for the negative association of guns with violence amongst their own
citizens? Did they foresee the advancement of their one–shot muskets becoming automatic assault rifles? The news today is riddled with debates of
gun control due to many accounts of our nation's troubled citizens, to the unaware youth, being able to easily obtain lethal firearms. From the tragedy
of Sandy Hook and Virginia Tech to the death of a four year–old by his own mother's gun, brings to attention to the question of how these lethal
firearms should be handled. Opinions vary from both extremes of the spectrum but as the controversial topic continues, many gun enthusiasts believe

handling firearms, they reveal that even at a younger age, shooting a gun was not a problem but the procedure used to teach the girl was not up to par.
A very common practice is to blame the outcome of guns, but very few question how the firearms were used.
Through tragedies like, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, we begin to question as to why such a troubled man was able to obtain a gun.
From the analysis of Adam Lanza's crime, they were able to see that he had first killed his mother with a Savage Mark II rifle, also being known that
this gun was obtainable to him due to the fact that he was older than 18 years of age. In addition to this firearm, he had at least two semi–automatic
rifles and two handguns. The grieved parents and our on–looking nation were outraged at the feasibility of his accessibility of lethal firearms. Many
questioned the usage of semi–automatic firearms and why Lanza's mother had owned them, this had also started waves of pro–gun control to make
way in the Senate. (Awr)

Implementing Gun Safety in School Classrooms
Nine year old Aaron Schmitt had been rummaging around in his dad's closet and found a shiny new toy. He was enthralled with his find. As he felt the
cold metal in his hand, he thought of the fun he could have playing a game of cops and robbers. Aaron spun the gun around in his hand wanting to
show it to his friends. He knew he should ask for permission from his parents to take the gun but he figured his dad would never realize the gun was
missing. He thought long and hard about what he was going to do and finally decided that he was going to take the gun to school and show it off. His
decision made, he put the gun in his backpack to take to school the following morning. Significantly, gun play has increased over time, and students are
not realizing what harm they can cause. Students have brought guns into schools before, both real and fake. Students who bring in fake guns usually
are able to get off on a referral. A referral is an act of referring someone or something for consultation, review, or further action. When teachinggun

caught bringing guns into school since the late 1800's. In the last ten years more than 100 school shootings around the United States have occurred. The

School Shootings, It Shook The Nation
Flooding every major media outlet making headlines across the country are school shootings, it shook the nation when twenty, first graders and six
adults were killed by Adam Lanza, a twenty year old man who shot his mother in the head before taking her car and driving to Sandy Hook
Elementary. Other school shooting have occurred since then and it brought up the issue of gun control, some politicians even supported the idea of
giving teachers guns to have in the classroom. I am against allowing teachers to have guns in the classroom in the name of protection and security.
What is your initial point of view?
My initial point of view is adding more guns to a hostile situation by giving teachers guns does not solve schools security issues in trying to keep
children safe. Spending valuable money should not go into training teachers on how to use a gun, it should go into educating all staff members and
students on emergency drills and lock downs in case of a school shooting. Even upgrading security systems would be more helpful in a hostile situation
rather than depending on one person killing another to save everyone.
How can you define your point of view more clearly?
I can define my point of view more clearly by asking questions that maybe many people have not wanted to ask for the fear of receiving a selfish
answer. For example has anyone asked a teacher, even with the training and the gun in your hand are you really ready to kill someone? The state and
the school are

Pros And Cons Of Gun Control
Gun control is a very controversial topic for Americans. Many feel that due to the recent tragedies, Congress should enforce stronger gun control law
while others believe that banning assault weapons will not help reduce crimes. In the article titled, "Treasure the Second Amendment, but Ban Assault
Rifles", Miller argues that assault weapons should be banned, but the second amendment right to bare arms should be valued. While in the article titled,
"A Ban on Assault Weapons Would Not ReduceCrime", Merino argues that banning assault weapons would not lower the crime rate because most
criminals will just find a loophole.
Miller believed that assault weapons should be banned, but our right to bear arms should be kept safe. He brings up the mass shooting that occurred
in 2012 in a movie theatre located in Aurora, California. His main idea of his essay is that assault weapons should be banned, but our second
amendment right to bear arms should be kept. He states that certain more dangerous weapons such as the AR–15 should only be available to people
who protect us, such as people in the military or law enforcement.
Miller's first claim states, "It's time for politicians to do something." He dreams to see a few ex–presidents team up, and honestly speak to Americans
regardless of their political parties. He imagined them saying, "We all treasure the constitution and the Second Amendment. We believe Americans have
the right to own guns. But that amendment does not entitle citizens to own combat weapons like the assault weapon that the Aurora shooter used to
kill 12 and wound 58 more in a Colorado theatre." He believes in owning guns for safety and protection, but a highly powered assault weapons is not
needed to do that. In conclusion Miller believes our nation's leaders should step up, come together, and educate Americans about gun control issues
because it is obviously needed.
Miller's second claim is that the second amendment grants us the right to own guns, but not highly powered assault weapons. Highly powered guns
such as the AR–15 assault rifle is meant to be used by men and women in the military. It is not your everyday gun that you use to kill a deer or carry
around for protection.

More Guns, More Problems?
More Guns, More Problems? It seems like every day I turn on the news there are more and more horrifying stories of violence around the United
States. Our children are not safe playing outside in the front yard as they once were. The new terrifying social phenomenon going around today is
violent rampage, shooting sprees or mass murder. Gun Violence has widespread effects, not only national grief but also stricter gun control laws that
effect law–abiding citizens. The causes for gun violence may surprise you, such as guns are common and easy to obtain, desensitization of society, or
mental problems. Today in the United States there are over 44 million gun owners, which means 25 percent of all adults, and 40 percent of American...

Some say the desensitization of society we are seeing today is a result of "Generation Y" and the way they were raised. They believe the parents of
that generation used the practices of unconditional love, not criticizing them in any way, and not recognizing one child's accomplishments over
another's. By raising them in this fashion, they argue children grew up being selfish, lacking empathy for others, overreacting to criticism and
thinking they are better than others. There are millions of people each year affected by mental illness, and only about half receive treatment for their
diseases. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health defines serious mental illness as: a mental behavior or emotional disorder, resulting in
serious functional impairment, which substantially interferes with or limits one or more major activities. (4) This disease can play a big role in
events such as mass or public shootings. Although there is no good research on links between mental illness and gun violence, there are many cases
to be examined where mentally ill people turned into mass killers. Such as James Holmes who we all know from the mass shooting at the Aurora,
Colorado movie theatre. He had previously seen three health doctors before the shooting, and at least one of them believed that he had a mental
disorder and could be dangerous but nothing was ever done. Even though we have laws restricting

Behavioral Patterns Of Zombies:
Your zombie usually does not behave normally that resembles anything that was once human. Once mutation has occurred, it is easy to tell at first
look that that risen zombie is no longer a living member of the human society. Its movement is generally slow with very poor skills and coordination.
Its walk is clumsy and unbalanced. This is caused in part by the cellular decay of their nerves and tissue, and also the poor functioning of the portion
of the brain that controls functions. Without control of their circulatory and other systems, the body begins to decay quite fast. This rapid decay
occurs in all parts of the body including the eyes, leaving zombies with a very poor sense of sight. This makes them even ... Show more content on

careful as possible to pull our troops out of Iraq and end the war. We need to restore peace in the Middle East and other countries that

Essay on Gun Control Rights
One of many controversial topics in the United States is gun control. It is clearly written in the Second Amendment of the Constitution that the people
will have the right to bear arms. Recently; however, people have been misusing those firearms and have been harming others with them. The
government is trying to regulate the sale, distribution, and ownership of guns because of this reason. Some of the arguments being made by the
politicians is simply if the government has the right to be able to control, and if it does, the effectiveness of the public policy to regulate guns. The
importance of gun control as a health issue is a necessity. "Each year, the United States has a bit over 8,000 murders with firearms" (Wilblin 1) "The US

It also prohibits the ammunition feeding devices for these semiautomatic weapons. (Fienstein 1). With this being said, the FAWB is an act that
supports gun control instead of bearing arms. The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being
necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The constitution is clearly saying all
citizens have the right to be able to own and carry a weapon or firearm. On June 26, 2008, in District of Columbia v. Heller, the United States Supreme
Court held in a 5–4 decision that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as
self–defense within the home and within federal enclaves (Cornell 1). This is showing how our founding fathers supported the right to bear arms.
Ownership of certain weapons should be prohibited. Assault rifles and submachine guns are firearms that are never necessary. The United States should
set a goal to having fewer high–power weapons available. However, the only situation to these firearms being more acceptable to use than others, are
the warlike scenarios. The thought of submachine guns and assault rifles being necessary is sickening. What would be the purpose of owning an assault
rifle or submachine guns? Gun–bearers

Essay The Frozen Hope
Endih was a place of cold and sadness. My father and mother were killed by a Kalag, a horrible beast. My father was a very powerful man. He was the
ruler of our frosted planet. When he died, I became the ruler, but I was very young, too young. I had no idea what I was doing. Endih was in chaos.
10 years later, I was much older, and wiser. Maybe not that much wiser.
The War of a Thousand Worlds had begun. Fear ran through the veins of the Endih people. I was very scared, too scared to stay away from the War.
General Tenko landed his ship in one of my bigger cities. The people had gathered around the shiny ship. It had a slick sliver finish on it. The crowd

cheerful voice, "Then join the winning side and you won't have to be involved with the war!" I stared outside at the snowy city. "O–okay, I'll j–join
you," I stuttered. Tenko grinned and said, "You've made the right decision," The people were outraged. I sat on my throne. My eyes were shut. I
felt the cold air blow in. "Why didn't you set up a vote?" I heard my sister say. I didn't bother to open my eyes. Her shoes clacked on the floor. "Brother,
tell me," she said in a much softer tone. I opened my eyes, but, I didn't face her, I stared at the locket in my hand. "My lord, please tell me there is a
good reason behind all this," she said, standing next to me. "La'Ta, this is my choice and nothing you say can change it," I said, "If you do not like
it, please go to another planet," La'Ta gasped, "How could you do this? Father would be disappointed!" I said nothing and she angrily walked out. I
opened the locket, inside was a photo of my father and mother. I sighed and quietly cried. "I am in control now!" Tenko said, pacing. I sat down in
plush couch. I rested my head on my hand and said, "You told me that my people would not involved with the war," Tenko sat down in

Should Bill Pass A Ban On All Assault Weapons?
Should Legislators Pass a Ban on All Assault Weapons? School shootings, theater shootings, bank robberies. What is the common factor in all of these
scenarios? Criminals? Death? Tragedy? Yes, but so are assault weapons. Mass homicides cannot happen without a powerful gun. However, can the
public reasonably attribute mass murders to assault weapons? And if these weapons are to blame, then does that mean that we should ban all assault
weapons? Bans on weapons in the United States are neither unheard of, nor difficult to implement, but banning assault weapons is the wrong way to
solve the issue of mass homicides. Legislators should not pass a ban on assault weapons because there is no need for one. Sometimes the public can
make entirely incorrect inferences about certain issues. This misinformation can sometimes become prevalent when talking about assault weapons and
mass homicides. Often assault weapons are painted as horrendously deadly guns that can kill hundreds of people in minutes with little to no thought
from the shooter. However, what is often misunderstood is that the type of weapons most often mistaken for assault weapons are machine guns.
Machine guns are fully automatic guns that typically require two people to operate and can fire multiple rounds under a single prolonged depression of
the trigger ("Fully Automatic Firearms." 1). Machine guns are not assault weapons, and are far more highly regulated by the government than
semi–automatic firearms. Such

Matchlock Guns In The Nineteenth Century
15th century weapons.
Weapons developed in this century were primarily used for defense of a structure or infantry and cavalry. The first firearms were matchlock guns
developed in this century. Matchlock guns were fuse ignited and lit by a match. When the fuse burned down it ignited gun powder and fired
projectiles. Matchlock guns were widely used for up to a century before the Wheelock is invented.
16th – 17th century weapons.
The wheel lock gun is invented. Similar to the matchlock in every way, except its ignited by a mechanism that is set back and released forward when
the trigger is squeezed creating a spark. Though the wheel lock was more proficient, it was more expensive to produce than match lock guns. So
matchlock guns were still widely used during this century. The wheel lock guns invention was a progressive step in firearms.
Later in the 16th century the flintlock gun is developed. The flintlock solved several issues with the wheel lock gun. They created a lid for the powder
pan that would lift simultaneously with the drop of the flint lever to ignite the powder. Flint lock guns were the dominant gun for two centuries. Flint
lock muskets were used by the infantry in many war's, battles, and engagements throughout this 200 year period of time, to include the revolutionary
war.

Analysis Of The Poem ' Quickdraw '
In "Quickdraw" the poem seems to have 14 lines, not counting the two lines that are broken up by themselves, but, it doesn 't follow the normalities of
an original sonnet as it breaks some of the rules of the sonnet. It doesn 't have a consistent iambic pentameter, inferring that the relationship between the
couple is fractious and broken, putting an huge effect on the reader to emphasis the strong feelings of hatred the couple has for one another. In addition,
the quatrains that are structured in the poem look very familiar to the shape of a gun. A gun, used for self defence or to bring someone to harm
demonstrates the conflict the couple has between each other. To the point were both is in need of protection which they can only resort to a gun,
violence. Furthermore, "Quickdraw" is telling a story to the readers, but as you read further down the poem the narrator seems as though she is suffering
more as you go down each quatrain caused by the fractious relationship she is currently in; further amplifying how crippled the relationship is
between the couple . The use of enjambment is used in quatrain 2 and 3, were the lines are broken away from the quatrain when they clearly could
have fitted it on the last line to make it a 14 line sonnet. However, the use of enjambment could indicate the fragmented state the relationship is
in;showing the strong feelings of hatred. These broken up lines have turned the poem "Quickdraw" to a broken sonnet suggesting an emotional outburst

Banning Assault And Semiautomatic Weapons
Banning Assault and Semiautomatic Weapons
Assault style or automatic weapons have been a common denominator in almost all fatal mass shootings. It is unnecessary for civilians to purchase
automatic weapons for non–military use. If there was a ban on the purchasing of militarized weapons by civilians, it would decrease the number of fatal
mass shootings drastically.
Statistics show that in 2015, there were 372 mass shootings, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870. Also in 2015, there were 64 school shootings, that
number include incidents where a firearm was shot but no one was injured. There are roughly 300 million guns in the United States, which is about a
third of the population. The U.S. Department of Justice and the Council on Foreign Affairs reported that "11,385 people died on average annually in
firearm incidents in the U.S. between 2001 and 2011."
During the 1980 's and 1990 's, there were numerous mass shootings that involved automatic weapons. An example of one of the first mass shootings in
the U.S. occurred in 1989. Patrick Purdy returned to his elementary school in Stockton, California armed with an AKS rifle, which is similar to the
AK–47, and opened fire. He killed 5 children and wounded 30 others, and then turned the gun on himself. One of the most horrific mass
murders in the history of the United States was in San Ysidro, California in a McDonald 's. James Huberty killed 21 people and wounded 19 others.

The United States and Assault Rifles Essay
The United States of America was founded on laws to stop a single person from ruling the country. These laws were later known as the Bill of Rights,
which lists every living person's rights. On this Bill of Rights is what is know as the Second Amendment which gives United States citizens the right to
bear arms. Over the years this amendment has been questioned by the government on how it affects the safety of citizens. Safety is important and the
new high–capacity magazines could be a true threat to America's safety. As big of a threat as they may seem, assault rifles are not the first major
weapon to wreak havoc on the citizens of the United States. If we take a time machine back in time, we can see that when there are weapons ... Show

This design lead to greater and more powerful weapons to be used in the First and Second World War. The weapons used in the World Wars were by
far the most advanced of their time. The new weapons produced three times the amount of firepower either sides of the Civil War could produce at
any given time. These weapons were feared by the citizens of the time. These new weapons consisted of the Thompson, a submachine gun, which fired
a .45 caliber bullet at high velocities. This rifle became the standard fully automatic rifle for the United States Armed Forces. Though this weapon
had a very important role in winning the war, it was also used in various crimes throughout the United States in the early nineteenth century. Does
this make this rifle a bad thing to own? While some would argue that the weapon was a threat to the public's safety, and while the others would say
it was not, it still fired at a high velocity which makes the possibility of multiple deaths more possible. This caused a large concern to erupt among
the public in large cities where mobs were becoming popular. It was obvious that these new found guns would be great for protecting the public,
however, it would also come to harm them since they were falling into the hands of criminals. These weapons would never stop evolving with years to
come weapons would become more deadly and even more common than the thompson would ever be.

Tips for Proper Gun Maintenance
Proper gun maintenance is one of the most important aspects of being a good gun owner. Neglecting proper maintenance can cause a gun to
become inaccurate, jam, misfire or possibly even cause clogs in the barrel which could end up in a sudden barrel explosion. In order to keep your
guns in proper working order every time that you use them and to keep yourself and others safe, it's important to clean your guns after every use. Here
are some tips on keeping your guns clean to ensure that they stay accurate and safe.
Safety First
Everything you've ever learned in gun safety also applies to cleaning time in addition to some other tips. Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction at
all times. Always treat the gun as if it were loaded. Keep ammunition out of and away from the guns while cleaning. Don't look through the end of the
muzzle to check if the barrel's clean, look through the breach instead. Finally, keep your finger off the trigger at all times.
Always Clean a Gun from Breach to Muzzle
The main focus when cleaning a barrel is to push the dirt, gun powder, debris and moisture out of the gun. When you clean a barrel by pushing a brush
or swab through the muzzle to the breach, you're taking all of that debris and pushing it into the breach. The dirt and grime does stick to the brush, but
you can't ignore that it's also pushing dirt into the gun. What's worse is that this dirt and grime can be pushed into the mechanism causing mechanical
issues or deterioration.

The Issue Of Gun Safety Essay
When thinking about gun safety, many people think of the news channels, or the speeches from Congress and the President about guns and some of the
problems that they cause. Man go as far as saying that the more guns U.S. civilians have, the more crime will rise.. Though there are many problems
that happen that involve guns, it is not the guns themselves causing these problems; it's the people that are behind them.
Gun safety is a subject that has been a main topic in the past few years among many, especially within politics. It is something that has become a
substantial topic in the past few years due to many shootings and accidents that have occurred with today's youth. It is a topic that needs to be
addressed. Gun safety is very important in the matters of teaching people that firearms are not a toy. One should always treat the gun like it is loaded.
Too many people choose to play around with guns by swinging them around, tossing them to people, or aiming the gun at other people and pretending
to shoot them. These are signs that people are much too immature and should not be handling a firearm. Interviewed a friend about an instance that
involved a situation with someone being very immature when it came to handling a gun. When to a hunting store to purchase a hunting shotgun this
past summer, there was a gentleman standing right next to the handgun case looking at a semi–automatic pistol. The man asked to look at a certain

that series. All that I could think about on the plane was one of the engines going out and who would come to my funeral. So it turns out New York

Should 18 Be Allowed To Buy Guns Research Paper
Should teen at 18 be allowed to buy guns?
Even though guns or for safety, people use them in a bad way. The age limit should be 22, "the guns is not dangerous the person is." In that case
everybody should be allowed to have a gun, but they should check if they have a mental illness or have done drugs, also we should check if they have
any gang activity or any criminal record.
I get why people don't want stricter gun laws because if 18 year olds are mature enough to join the military, most people or old enough to buy a gun.
Most 18 year olds don't have gun experience its fine if they've joined the military.

Why Should Assault Weapons Be Banned
Why should assault weapons be banned? One of the guns used in Columbine was a 9mm carbine and in the Sandy Hook massacre a Bushmaster
XM15–E2S rifle were both assault weapons. Dylan Klebold and Eric Herres got their weapons illegally same with the people that shoot up Sandy
Hook. If assault weapons were banned at that time all of the students that died that day would still be alive and probably should have bright futures.
That just proves that anyone can get assault weapons illegally or legally. Assault weapons should be banned because they could get sold illegally to
the wrong people and cause violence. Assault weapons should be banned.
The first thing is that assault weapons can be bought and sold illegally online and in person, but mainly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the eastern town of Verviers and made one arrest as part of an operation into an imminent "major" attack.
Most people would think that having a assault weapon will help protect their family. It will but it will cause even more problems because the person
that killed the person breaking into you home that person will get in trouble because if he did not do anything first then it would not be self defense
so that person will go to jail for murder.
That is why assault weapons should be banned. They cause too much violence and if it were to get in the wrong hands it could cause problems. So to

why assault weapons should be

The Biometric safe is a really good design for a safe a fingerprint is required to open it and access all of your weapons. In case someone wants to
break it open one out of 64 million people have a close enough fingerprint as you so it's really hard to open only with your fingerprint. Traditional
safes have a combination lock on it which means it's really to open it but with the Biometric safe all you have to do is put your finger on the pad
and it pops right open. It comes in two sizes a bigger size for more guns like rifles and semi automatic guns in it and for the smaller size you can fit
handguns in it and knives and ammo. Its meant for to hide easier and make sure it's out of sight, but with the bigger size safe you really can't hide
it because it's too big to hide anywhere. The fireproof and waterproof safe is meant to stand up to 2750 degrees fahrenheit, which a house fire

waterproof part of it is when you close it, it makes a tight seal inside so that no water comes in and gets in your guns and melts them. Most of these

Ww2 Weapons Essay
World War 2 (WWII) was one of the most deadly and destructive events to ever happen in human history. Even with tanks and aircraft, the foot
soldiers remain an essential element of modern armies, both because there are tasks they do best, and because even the richest nations can't afford to
equip millions of soldiers with tanks. This essay details the various classes of weapons carried and used by infantry soldiers, including the multiple
classes of guns.
Pistols are generally not suitable for military fighting. With their very short effective range and little ammunition, they are carried in combat by soldiers
who are not expected to use them as their main fighting weapon, such as airmen, senior officers, non–combatant soldiers, and other military ... Show

A 19th century technology, these rifles were powerful and very accurate weapons, effective to a long range of over half a mile, but since they required
manual reloading after each shot, they were never suitable for combat situations which demanded a rapid rate of fire, and were therefore replaced
during the war by newer weapons. The only combat role where bolt–action rifles are the best even today, are sniper rifles, where their long effective
range and high accuracy are the only things that count. These are bolt–action rifles which are adapted with magnifying telescopic sights, and often also
with additional enhancements such as bipods, cushions, and higher standard production, all in order to maximize the sniper's ability to deliver the few
selective shots that can sometimes affect the battlefield more than a hail of less accurate bullets. Semi–Automatic Rifles were the natural development
from the bolt–action rifle. By simply adding an automatic reloading mechanism, these guns provided the soldier with a significantly faster rate of fire,
not just technically, but also because he could keep his aiming eye on the sights and on the target between shots, making continuous aiming and firing
possible. These quickly became the basic personal weapons of World War 2

Different Weapons Used in World War II
There were many weapons used in WWII. The most used gun in the war was the M1 Garand. In the beginning of the war, almost every soldier carried
it. It was easy to use, maintain, and reload even if the person using it was inexperienced. The Soviet PPsh–41 was the second most used gun in the war.
It was mainly used for short range attacks because it wasn't very powerful or accurate. The Thompson Submachine gun was the third most used gun.
The Allies used this gun mostly because of its stopping power and how fast it could shoot. The Thompson was not used much after the war
because it weighed over 10 pounds The biggest gun used in the war was the Gustav. It aimed well and created holes 30 feet deep and 30 feet wide.
It could be dismantled and shipped all over the world. It was made by Gustav Krupp. He was married to Berth Krupp and they owned the Krupp
Company. He studied law and politics. After the war, he was charged with war crimes and later died in a car accident. The Gustav was blown up by
the Germans after the war so the Russians couldn't use it The Ak–47 rifle was the most dangerous gun used in the war. It was made by combining
different types of automatic weapons and assault rifles. The man who thought of this idea was Mikhail Kalashnikov. He was born in 1919 and
wanted to become a poet when he grew older. Things weren't going well with poetry, so he joined the army in 1938. He became a good fighter and
was promoted to general and was shot. While he was

Last Stand Of Fox Company Essays

  • 1. Last Stand of Fox Company Essays The story of Fox Company's last stand in the frozen hills of northern Korea serves As a testament to the human will in the face of overwhelming forces of opposition. The never say die attitude of every man on that hill is proof why the Marines can take every hardship that the world can throw at them and still have the ingrained training while having the attitude to fight back, keep moving, with the will to never give up. There were many brave heroes at the battle of Fox Hill but one Private Hector Cafferata's story stands above them all. On the first night at Fox Hill, Cafferata found his foxhole surrounded by the enemy as the Chinese passed through the gaps in the American lines during the first night of the attack. Two enemy riflemen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His buddy, blinded by a grenade, took to reloading Hector Cafferata's M1, handing him a fresh weapon after every emptied clip. Cafferata's foxhole was the only thing that prevented the Chinese from splitting the defensive line of the hill, with Cafferata being credited with killing almost 40 enemy soldiers during that first night. Nominated for the Medal of Honor immediately after the conflict his commanding officer stated that Cafferata had probably killed more than 100 enemy soldiers that night, but he didn't think anyone would believe him, so he quoted the official number at 36. Hector Cafferata would receive the Medal of Honor at the cost of right hand that was hit by a sniper's bullet. He would never use that hand again, but learned how to shoot with his left hand. The conflict at Fox Hill lasted seven days followed by a grueling march of wounded back to base, a temporary safe spot that would also be taken by the Chinese shortly after. Their retreat, or Major General Oliver Smith's infamously quoted "attack in a different direction!" was escorted by the Ridgerunners of 1st Battalion's Apha, Bravo, and Charlie companies who came down from the Chosin Reservoir and had to fight through the Chinese that surrounded Fox Hill. By the time the Ridgerunners arrived by the look of the arriving Marines you could not tell who was rescuing whom. In the end Fox Company had 26 dead, 89 wounded and three missing. There were at least 1,000 Chinese ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. World War II: American Vs. German Weapons World War II was one of the biggest wars of all time. From the destruction in Europe to the devastation in Japan. The soldiers that fought in the battles were one of the greatest assets of the war. They are the ones who did the fighting and fired the guns. When the citizens bought war bonds back then, salespeople used to say "a bond is a bullet in your best man's gun." But what about the gun itself? The U.S was coming out with new weaponry for soldiers. They were making semi automatic rifles and submachine guns, surpassing German bolt action rifles. We were also surpassing our allies, like France and the Soviet Union, who couldn't make semi automatic rifles. (""infantry Weapons"+"World War II"")Going by the facts of the weaponry the soldiers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It took at least 70 dollars to make one Thompson and it took only 24 dollars to make an MP40. With this problem, the U.S made a new model, the M3, nicknamed the "grease gun." It was a smaller version of the Thompson and it was completely made of metal. It used the same 30 round clip as the M1 and had a very special barrel, so it would never overheat. The U.S was able to cut the price to make these M3's by at least 65%. (Bull, Stephen.) • 3. Essay about The History of Guns in America The History of Guns in America What is the importance of the gun? The gun is one of the most important tools in the defense of our nation. Guns are responsible for a lot of death and injuries, but these things were going on before the existence of the gun. Guns aren't the reason for the death and injuries, they are just a means to it. They are tools and an engineering marvel of our age. The gun has evolved from a simple weapon that caused limited destruction to the modern gun that is so fast and powerful it is capable of mass destruction. Through the evolution of the gun, it has become a political tool. The first guns used in America were a simple machine where the person did most of the work. Theuser measured and put the powder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Early bullets were designed to be placed in this new loading system. The classic way of having the powder and pellets separate was too slow and messy. This early design of the bullet is very similar to the simple modern one. It had a metal casing with powder placed behind the pellets or in some cases one large pellet (Hogg 54). With these being loaded from the side on the new rifles they were capable of firing a shot much faster then the gun of a hundred years earlier. Even though the gun had become more powerful the Civil War was still a political war. Next, the first truly automatic gun was invented and that was the Gatling Gun. It was built back in the late 1880's and was capable of firing hundreds of shots per minute. Dr. Richard Jordan Gatling took the ideas others of a fully automatic gun to the next step and made it work well. His gun had a constant feed of bullets that did not stop firing until its cartridge was empty. The gun used several barrels so that none of the barrels would overheat from constant use (Hogg 85–86). It was however a stationary gun. His gun was a great success. It was the first automatic weapon and was first one capable of killing mass numbers. Next in the development of machine guns came the Maxim, the machine gun with only one barrel. This gun with a belt of bullets that fed in one side and the empty belt came out the other side. It used the explosion from the bullets firing to load the next bullet. With the use of different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ww1 Carbine Vs Garand Case Study Part one: the Differences between the Two Primary Issued Service Rifles The primary rifle of the U.S. during the war would be either the M1 Garand or the M1 Carbine. Both firearms were widely manufactured with both having more than six million manufactured. However, there are a few key differences that give both advantages and disadvantages. The M1 Garand's main advantage over the M1 Carbine was the sheer power of the round that it fired. The Garand fired the full size 30–06 Springfield cartridge used previously in the M1903 Springfield during WWI1. The Carbine on the other hand fired the much more manageable .30 Carbine round. The differences between these rounds allowed for the Carbine to excel in close to medium ranges while the Garand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This made for a much faster fire rate then the bolt action rifles at the time giving the US troops a massive advantage compared to the German forces who were armed primarily with karabiner 98k rifles3 as well as being well suited to shut down Japanese banzaii charges quite easily. Another benefit to these weapons is the ability to make subsequent shots without having to messing with a bolt to fire the next shot and potentially losing the target that you were just trying to hit. Part two: US submachine guns The two different Submachine guns that the US used during WWII would be the Thompson submachine gun and the M3. Both used the exact same type of ammunition and were both ruggedly reliable firearms. The Thompson submachine gun was the primary submachine gun of the war with production reaching one million twenty five thousand by the end of WWII. The gun itself was simplified over the war repeatedly to try and bring the price down45. Furthermore there was an issue of the gun weighing more than ten pounds unloaded making it one of the heaviest SMGs at the time. It was, however, very popular by many different branches outside of the intended armored divisions and saw use by special forces in both the European and Pacific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Argumentative Essay On Gun Control During the early history of the United States, gun regulations were a state centered issued. In 1827, Georgia was one of the first state to try to implement gun regulations by passing a bill that attempted to ban handguns. The law is ruled unconstitutional and thrown out (Utter, 2000). As gun technology progressed during World War One and the Thompson submachinegun was developed a change for stricter gun regulations was inevitable. The History News Network reported that, "at least 27 states enacted measures to restrict or outlaw the sale and possession of fully automatic weapons prior to 1934 (Spiltzer, 2015)". A teenager who has a gun will feel driven to use the weapon whenever they can, (Child.net, 2011). When explaining this fact to the mother, she does not seem to fear him. I suggested to her that it may not be a safe situation for her, and she must think of her own safety as well as Joe's safety. If Joe is not around the home with the gun, he cannot hurt anyone with it. I suggested the woman at the very least go home first and search the house herself. She would not do as I suggest. Personally, I feared for the lives of three people in the home. I would not want an illegal weapon in my home and certainly would not want it in the possession of a teenager. This ultimately would make the mother responsible for any crimes committed from an ethical standpoint because she is aware that there may be a gun. Solving the dilemma For this particular problem, I had to let the client go home. The mother insisted that she was not scared of her son and wanted to take him home. I tried everything I could to convince her to let me place the boy somewhere else, but to no avail. I called my supervisor, and she agreed that there was nothing more I could do to keep her from taking Joe home. I asked the police to please patrol the area that night and I asked the physician what he thought of the client's mental state. Although I did a little screening on the client myself, and did not believe he was experiencing any mental health issues. The only

Did they foresee the advancement of their one–shot muskets becoming automatic assault rifles? The news today is riddled with debates of gun control due to many accounts of our nation's troubled citizens, to the unaware youth, being able to easily obtain lethal firearms. A very common practice is to blame the outcome of guns, but very few question how the firearms were used. Through tragedies like, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, we begin to question as to why such a troubled man was able to obtain a gun. From the analysis of Adam Lanza's crime, they were able to see that he had first killed his mother with a Savage Mark II rifle, also being known that this gun was obtainable to him due to the fact that he was older than 18 years of age. In addition to this firearm, he had at least two semi–automatic rifles and two handguns. The grieved parents and our on–looking nation were outraged at the feasibility of his accessibility of lethal firearms. • 11. Implementing Gun Safety On School Classrooms Samantha Russo Professor Sandoz Research Methods–Block 3 29 September 2014 Implementing Gun Safety in School Classrooms Nine year old Aaron Schmitt had been rummaging around in his dad's closet and found a shiny new toy. He was enthralled with his find. As he felt the cold metal in his hand, he thought of the fun he could have playing a game of cops and robbers. Aaron spun the gun around in his hand wanting to show it to his friends. He knew he should ask for permission from his parents to take the gun but he figured his dad would never realize the gun was missing. He thought long and hard about what he was going to do and finally decided that he was going to take the gun to school and show it off. His decision made, he put the gun in his backpack to take to school the following morning. Significantly, gun play has increased over time, and students are not realizing what harm they can cause. Other school shooting have occurred since then and it brought up the issue of gun control, some politicians even supported the idea of giving teachers guns to have in the classroom. I am against allowing teachers to have guns in the classroom in the name of protection and security. What is your initial point of view? My initial point of view is adding more guns to a hostile situation by giving teachers guns does not solve schools security issues in trying to keep children safe. Spending valuable money should not go into training teachers on how to use a gun, it should go into educating all staff members and students on emergency drills and lock downs in case of a school shooting. Even upgrading security systems would be more helpful in a hostile situation rather than depending on one person killing another to save everyone. How can you define your point of view more clearly? I can define my point of view more clearly by asking questions that maybe many people have not wanted to ask for the fear of receiving a selfish answer. For example has anyone asked a teacher, even with the training and the gun in your hand are you really ready to kill someone? The state and the school are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Pros And Cons Of Gun Control Gun control is a very controversial topic for Americans. Many feel that due to the recent tragedies, Congress should enforce stronger gun control law while others believe that banning assault weapons will not help reduce crimes. In the article titled, "Treasure the Second Amendment, but Ban Assault Rifles", Miller argues that assault weapons should be banned, but the second amendment right to bare arms should be valued. While in the article titled, "A Ban on Assault Weapons Would Not ReduceCrime", Merino argues that banning assault weapons would not lower the crime rate because most criminals will just find a loophole. Miller believed that assault weapons should be banned, but our right to bear arms should be kept safe. He brings up the mass shooting that occurred in 2012 in a movie theatre located in Aurora, California. His main idea of his essay is that assault weapons should be banned, but our second amendment right to bear arms should be kept. He states that certain more dangerous weapons such as the AR–15 should only be available to people who protect us, such as people in the military or law enforcement. Miller's first claim states, "It's time for politicians to do something." He dreams to see a few ex–presidents team up, and honestly speak to Americans regardless of their political parties. He imagined them saying, "We all treasure the constitution and the Second Amendment. We believe Americans have the right to own guns. But that amendment does not entitle citizens to own combat weapons like the assault weapon that the Aurora shooter used to kill 12 and wound 58 more in a Colorado theatre." He believes in owning guns for safety and protection, but a highly powered assault weapons is not needed to do that. In conclusion Miller believes our nation's leaders should step up, come together, and educate Americans about gun control issues because it is obviously needed. Miller's second claim is that the second amendment grants us the right to own guns, but not highly powered assault weapons. Highly powered guns such as the AR–15 assault rifle is meant to be used by men and women in the military. It is not your everyday gun that you use to kill a deer or carry around for protection. ... Some say the desensitization of society we are seeing today is a result of "Generation Y" and the way they were raised. They believe the parents of that generation used the practices of unconditional love, not criticizing them in any way, and not recognizing one child's accomplishments over another's. By raising them in this fashion, they argue children grew up being selfish, lacking empathy for others, overreacting to criticism and thinking they are better than others. There are millions of people each year affected by mental illness, and only about half receive treatment for their diseases. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health defines serious mental illness as: a mental behavior or emotional disorder, resulting in serious functional impairment, which substantially interferes with or limits one or more major activities. • 20. Essay on Gun Control Rights One of many controversial topics in the United States is gun control. It is clearly written in the Second Amendment of the Constitution that the people will have the right to bear arms. Recently; however, people have been misusing those firearms and have been harming others with them. The government is trying to regulate the sale, distribution, and ownership of guns because of this reason. Some of the arguments being made by the politicians is simply if the government has the right to be able to control, and if it does, the effectiveness of the public policy to regulate guns. The constitution is clearly saying all citizens have the right to be able to own and carry a weapon or firearm. On June 26, 2008, in District of Columbia v. Heller, the United States Supreme Court held in a 5–4 decision that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self–defense within the home and within federal enclaves (Cornell 1). This is showing how our founding fathers supported the right to bear arms. Ownership of certain weapons should be prohibited. Assault rifles and submachine guns are firearms that are never necessary. The United States should set a goal to having fewer high–power weapons available. However, the only situation to these firearms being more acceptable to use than others, are the warlike scenarios. What is the common factor in all of these scenarios? Criminals? Death? Tragedy? Yes, but so are assault weapons. Mass homicides cannot happen without a powerful gun. However, can the public reasonably attribute mass murders to assault weapons? And if these weapons are to blame, then does that mean that we should ban all assault weapons? Bans on weapons in the United States are neither unheard of, nor difficult to implement, but banning assault weapons is the wrong way to solve the issue of mass homicides. Legislators should not pass a ban on assault weapons because there is no need for one. Sometimes the public can make entirely incorrect inferences about certain issues. This misinformation can sometimes become prevalent when talking about assault weapons and mass homicides. Often assault weapons are painted as horrendously deadly guns that can kill hundreds of people in minutes with little to no thought from the shooter. However, what is often misunderstood is that the type of weapons most often mistaken for assault weapons are machine guns. • 26. Analysis Of The Poem ' Quickdraw ' In "Quickdraw" the poem seems to have 14 lines, not counting the two lines that are broken up by themselves, but, it doesn 't follow the normalities of an original sonnet as it breaks some of the rules of the sonnet. It doesn 't have a consistent iambic pentameter, inferring that the relationship between the couple is fractious and broken, putting an huge effect on the reader to emphasis the strong feelings of hatred the couple has for one another. In addition, the quatrains that are structured in the poem look very familiar to the shape of a gun. A gun, used for self defence or to bring someone to harm demonstrates the conflict the couple has between each other. To the point were both is in need of protection which they can only resort to a gun, violence. Furthermore, "Quickdraw" is telling a story to the readers, but as you read further down the poem the narrator seems as though she is suffering more as you go down each quatrain caused by the fractious relationship she is currently in; further amplifying how crippled the relationship is between the couple . The use of enjambment is used in quatrain 2 and 3, were the lines are broken away from the quatrain when they clearly could have fitted it on the last line to make it a 14 line sonnet. However, the use of enjambment could indicate the fragmented state the relationship is in;showing the strong feelings of hatred. These broken up lines have turned the poem "Quickdraw" to a broken sonnet suggesting an emotional outburst of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is unnecessary for civilians to purchase automatic weapons for non–military use. If there was a ban on the purchasing of militarized weapons by civilians, it would decrease the number of fatal mass shootings drastically. Statistics show that in 2015, there were 372 mass shootings, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870. Also in 2015, there were 64 school shootings, that number include incidents where a firearm was shot but no one was injured. There are roughly 300 million guns in the United States, which is about a third of the population. The U.S. Department of Justice and the Council on Foreign Affairs reported that "11,385 people died on average annually in firearm incidents in the U.S. between 2001 and 2011." During the 1980 's and 1990 's, there were numerous mass shootings that involved automatic weapons. An example of one of the first mass shootings in the U.S. occurred in 1989. Patrick Purdy returned to his elementary school in Stockton, California armed with an AKS rifle, which is similar to the AK–47, and opened fire. He killed 5 children and wounded 30 others, and then turned the gun on himself. These laws were later known as the Bill of Rights, which lists every living person's rights. On this Bill of Rights is what is know as the Second Amendment which gives United States citizens the right to bear arms. Over the years this amendment has been questioned by the government on how it affects the safety of citizens. Safety is important and the new high–capacity magazines could be a true threat to America's safety. The new weapons produced three times the amount of firepower either sides of the Civil War could produce at any given time. These weapons were feared by the citizens of the time. These new weapons consisted of the Thompson, a submachine gun, which fired a .45 caliber bullet at high velocities. This rifle became the standard fully automatic rifle for the United States Armed Forces. Though this weapon had a very important role in winning the war, it was also used in various crimes throughout the United States in the early nineteenth century. Does this make this rifle a bad thing to own? While some would argue that the weapon was a threat to the public's safety, and while the others would say it was not, it still fired at a high velocity which makes the possibility of multiple deaths more possible. This caused a large concern to erupt among the public in large cities where mobs were becoming popular. It was obvious that these new found guns would be great for protecting the public, however, it would also come to harm them since they were falling into the hands of criminals. • 29. Tips for Proper Gun Maintenance Proper gun maintenance is one of the most important aspects of being a good gun owner. Neglecting proper maintenance can cause a gun to become inaccurate, jam, misfire or possibly even cause clogs in the barrel which could end up in a sudden barrel explosion. In order to keep your guns in proper working order every time that you use them and to keep yourself and others safe, it's important to clean your guns after every use. Here are some tips on keeping your guns clean to ensure that they stay accurate and safe. Safety First Everything you've ever learned in gun safety also applies to cleaning time in addition to some other tips. Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction at all times. Always treat the gun as if it were loaded. Keep ammunition out of and away from the guns while cleaning. Don't look through the end of the muzzle to check if the barrel's clean, look through the breach instead. Finally, keep your finger off the trigger at all times. Always Clean a Gun from Breach to Muzzle The main focus when cleaning a barrel is to push the dirt, gun powder, debris and moisture out of the gun. When you clean a barrel by pushing a brush or swab through the muzzle to the breach, you're taking all of that debris and pushing it into the breach. The dirt and grime does stick to the brush, but you can't ignore that it's also pushing dirt into the gun. What's worse is that this dirt and grime can be pushed into the mechanism causing mechanical issues or deterioration. Remember ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Issue Of Gun Safety Essay When thinking about gun safety, many people think of the news channels, or the speeches from Congress and the President about guns and some of the problems that they cause. Man go as far as saying that the more guns U.S. civilians have, the more crime will rise.. Though there are many problems that happen that involve guns, it is not the guns themselves causing these problems; it's the people that are behind them. Gun safety is a subject that has been a main topic in the past few years among many, especially within politics. It is something that has become a substantial topic in the past few years due to many shootings and accidents that have occurred with today's youth. It is a topic that needs to be addressed. Gun safety is very important in the matters of teaching people that firearms are not a toy. One should always treat the gun like it is loaded. Too many people choose to play around with guns by swinging them around, tossing them to people, or aiming the gun at other people and pretending to shoot them. These are signs that people are much too immature and should not be handling a firearm. The only combat role where bolt–action rifles are the best even today, are sniper rifles, where their long effective range and high accuracy are the only things that count. These are bolt–action rifles which are adapted with magnifying telescopic sights, and often also with additional enhancements such as bipods, cushions, and higher standard production, all in order to maximize the sniper's ability to deliver the few selective shots that can sometimes affect the battlefield more than a hail of less accurate bullets. Semi–Automatic Rifles were the natural development from the bolt–action rifle. By simply adding an automatic reloading mechanism, these guns provided the soldier with a significantly faster rate of fire, not just technically, but also because he could keep his aiming eye on the sights and on the target between shots, making continuous aiming and firing possible.
