2. For all the images in my magazine I used my own panasonic
lumix G10 camera. As it was my own camera I had a good
understanding on how it worked and the settings I needed to
choose to achieve the images I wanted.
It produced clean professional images which I could use. I didn’t
need to re-take any images as I had enough to play with. Only
disadvantage was the lighting. I had some difficulties in the
garage when I was shooting the band. This was because when
the with the door was closed nature light was limited. However
the cameras flash coped with this well and still managed to
produce clear images. At the scooter fair when I was
photographing scooters the camera capture this beautifully and
produced a range of interesting photographs.
To improve the photography I would of taken a tri-pod with me
to the shoots. The stability of the tri-pod would of enhanced my
photographs even more. It would of allowed to me adjust angles
without making them blurry.

4. For all my editing I used www.pixlr.com.
Once I had taken the photographs for my magazine I began
uploading different ones onto pixlr and began experimenting
with their editing tools. It took a while to get used to it as I
haven’t had much experience with using it before. However once
I discovered where all the setting was I was able to create a wide
variety of editing styles. The more edits I did, the more they
improved. Pixlr tools suited all of my needs. I got a good
understanding on how it worked and what tools helped to
develop my images (also which ones didn’t). One of my main
advantages with pixrl was I was able manipulate a image by
swapping a face of one of the models. This tool allowed me to
improve my image so effectively that I choose it to be my front
cover.
Disadvantage to pixlr was I struggled to save the images to
‘JPEG’ with the correct image size when I edited on a apple MAC.
This meant I lost some of my edits as I wasn’t able to upload
them anywhere. After this I just edited on a windows laptop,
however this was limited as I couldn’t use a MAC if I needed to.

6. I decided to use Microsoft publisher to produce my cover, contents page
and double page spread. I have worked with publisher before therefore I
was familiar with how it works and so this sped up the production. What
I liked about publisher is how easy it is to layer images, pictures and
fonts together. This made it the perfect software for producing a
magazine. I had no issue in adding in several elements which was
important as pages in a magazine have many. It was so easy to save the
edits I had created as a JPEG so I could transfer and upload them
somewhere else. Another advantage with publisher is it allows you to
change page size. This meant for my double page spread I could adjust
it to A3 and make the two pages side by side. The use of textboxes and
shapes on publisher allowed me to experiment with the columns and
shaping on all the pages before adding in the elements. Its also very
easy to go back on a edit and make changes.
One disadvantage with publisher is on different versions (2007 and
2010 for example) have the same fonts differently. So if I began creating
a issue on a 2007 publisher software and finished it on a 2010, the fonts
would vary. This meant in some cases it took my longer to find fonts
which was suitable.
