1. How effective is the combination
of your main product and
ancillary texts?
2. •
The effectiveness of my main product and
ancillary texts are very effective. My main
task being to make a film trailer in a group and
the ancillary tasks being to create a front
cover for a film magazine and a poster for our
film.
3. Iconic Images
•
As a group we wanted the time of 11:57 to be a main part of
our trailer that the audience would pick up on. From this I
thought I would add the time to my poster so it had reference
to the trailer. As you can the photos below the photo on the
left is taken from the trailer of the time on the fridge and the
photo in the middle is taken from the classroom scene. And
finally then the photo on the right is taken from my poster.
The combination of using the time on my poster I think makes
the time in the film stand out more.
4. •
Again if we look here we have used the intertitles of
“ Lost time is never found again” from the trailer and
then I have used them as my tag line on my poster. I
think it was important that I used the same intertitles
from the film on my poster as people will be able to
refer to this.
I broke my
tagline up as I
wanted it to
seem more
powerful when
you read it.
5. •
As our main character was a teacher I wanted my main image
on my poster to be of him in his teaching clothes. As you can
see on the left he is in a white shirt and black tie, I have tried
to replicate this image on my poster. I think having him in his
shirt and tie on my poster makes it seem like his job is
effecting him to, along with the all the other problems he
posses.
6. Billing block
Another thing that I have used on both my poster
and film trailer is the billing block. Both billing
blocks came at the end of each product. Such as the
billing block was the last thing you saw of the film
trailer and the billing block was at the end of my
poster.
7. When looking at my film magazine front cover I went against stereotype of
having the character from the film on it I decided I would have the actor on it.
The combination of my magazine front cover is still visible as you will be able to
recognise the actor who plays the main character In the film and who stars as the
main image on my poster. As you c an see the arrow points to the actor of the
film.
8. My magazine also follows the generics of my film poster due to the masthead.
We can find the masthead for both products situated at the top of the product in
a bold bright colour with a large font standing out to the audience. As you can
see both of my mastheads are in red. I felt that red was a dominate colour as it
stands out which will catch the public eye. We also used red for our intertitles
for our film trailer. Please find all examples below, on the left is my magazine
masthead in the middle is the intertiles from the trailer and finally my masthead
for my poster on the right.
