1. Analysis Of Audience
Research Survey
This presentation will contain the analysis of the results we gathered
when carrying out our initial audience research using survey monkey.
2. Question One: What Is Your
Age?
• As can be seen from the pie chart
on the right side of our page the
majority of people who completed
the survey were aged 14-18.
Which conveniently is the age
range of the audience we are
targeting with our music video for
Arabella by the Arctic Monkeys.
• Due to the fact that the majority of
people that completed the survey
were the age of the target
audience we are aiming for, it
means that we have a very high
percentage of useful results from
this survey.
3. Question Two: What Is Your
Gender?
• As can be seen from the pie
chart on the right side of our
page there is a fairly even split
between men and women. With
a slighter higher percentage
being male (53% male vs 41%
female), this is good as this is
also the gender we are aiming
our music video more towards.
• There were a few people who
preferred not to say what there
gender was (6%) meaning that
there could be a more even split
than what is currently known.
4. Question Three: What Is
Your Favourite Music Genre?
• From the pie chart on the right
it can be seen that the most
popular music genres are
Indie, Pop and Rock. These
genres can all be described
as what the Arctic Monkeys
are. This means that the
likelihood of our target
audience liking our chosen
song (Arabella) is very high.
• Much less people like genres
such as Jazz, Hip Hop and
Metal.
5. Question Four: What Do You
Prefer To See In A Music Video?
• As can be seen from the pie chart
on the right the majority of people
(44%) said that they would prefer
a storyline for a music video.
• The remaining 56% would either
prefer a band performance,
visual representation of the lyrics
or all three. For this reason we
have decided that the best route
to go down for our music video
would be a combination of a
concept and performance to
create an interesting and
engaging music video.
6. Question Five: Would The Feature Of An
Attractive Woman Draw You To A Video?
• As can be seen from the pie
chart on the right an
astounding 65% said that the
feature of an attractive woman
would draw them to a video.
• For this reason we have
decided that we should try
and implement an ‘Arabella’
into our music video to target
this appeal.
7. Question Six: Would Black And White
Footage Be Successful In An Arctic
Monkeys Video?
• As can be seen from the
piechart on the right over 3/4
of people who took the survey
thought that black and white
would be ‘successful’ in an
Arctic Monkeys Music Video.
• For this reason we will likely
use black and white for part,
or the whole of our music
video depending on what
looks better at the point of
editing.
8. Question Seven: How Often
Do You Watch Music Videos?
• Once again as can be seen
from the pie chart on the right
most people that took our
survey watched videos at
least weekly, with daily and
monthly close behind. A very
small percentage of people
(6%) said that they never
watch music videos. This
shows that there is a huge
market for our music video
with our chosen target
audience.
9. Question Eight: Where Do
You Watch Music Videos?
• As can be seen from the pie
chart on the right an
astounding amount of people
consume Music Videos using
YouTube (79%). With 12%
consuming Music Videos via
TV and 9% not watching
Music Videos.
• For this reason we have
chosen YouTube as our
platform of choice for allowing
people to watch our Music
Video.
10. Question Nine: What Operating
System Do Your Devices Run On?
• As can be seen from the pie
chart on the right the majority
of people either own an iOS
device or Mac. Both of these
platforms have easy access to
YouTube and other platforms
of music video consumption
and discovery either through a
web browser on the OS or via
a downloaded application.
11. Question Ten: What Devices
Do You Own? (If Any)
• As can be seen by the pie
chart on the right, people own
quite a varied selection of
devices. The two most popular
devices owned by people are
iPhones, iPads and Macs. All
of these have easy access to
our chosen distribution
platform of choice, which is
YouTube. This is good as it
means people will be able to
easily access our Music Video
once it has been published.
