2. Identifying ethical principles and
the moral concept.
• Before introducing ethical principles and moral
issues into our classes, we have to be clear with
these concepts, what is our point of view, how it
affects our students’ perspectives and find the
most neutral and objective perspective to avoid
influencing them in bad ways.
• As these are very subjective topics, it would be
useful to listen to partners’ points of view.
3. Using strategies.
• In order to introduce ethical principles in the
classes, we have to use strategies at the time of
preparing clases, and this way get to
communicate the message in a subtle way.
• Other strategies are needed with the aim to
identify the lack of certain principles and focus
on them in the following sessions.
4. Using resources.
• As the idea is to teach ethical principles
implicitly, we have to use the resources we have
around, for instance the environment itself, the
classmates, parents, pictures, videos, reflections,
etc.
5. Practical wisdom concept.
• Baillie and Garret (1998) Refers to this concept
as the ability to choose patterns of actions that
are desirable, which are influenced by emotional
experiences or virtues and the experiences of
other human beings as we are all placed in
society.
6. The natural law.
• Baillie and Garret (2001)explain that this
concept refers to the action of reflecting
rationally on nature in order to discover
principles of good and bad. This suggest that
human beings have the capacity to actualize
their potencial and ways of seeing the world.
7. Importance for teachers.
• It is also important to mention that teaching and
reinforcing ethical principles into a classroom of
teachers to-be is helpful and necessary to help
them learn how to identify possible problems in
their profession and the way of solving these
problems.
8. What experts say:
• Gluchmanová, M (2008)
Ethics is necessary as a subject in schools and in the
education of teachers.
• Rest (1987)

moral problems and to implement the reasoning or
judgement processes have been demostrated to be
efective.
• Dr. Schlomo Sher

class discussions, readings or short assingments, self-reflection,
case study, etc.
9. Conclusion
• Even though ethical principles and moral
concepts are very subjective topics, it is utmost
important to raise awareness of them into the
classroom, developed as a sort of content based
instruction several activities can be done aiming
to raise consciousness in the students. This has
been shown to be effective and more than that,
very useful and necessary in several contexts.
