Report text is a text which presents
information about something, as it is. Details
in this text are scientificdetailsthat include
the description of object, both physical and
non physical, from scientificfacts about the
object.
Report Text is included in the Descriptive
Text which has the aim of providing
information to readersabout the object of
this text itself.
Social fuction
There are different types of the report texts.
1.Classifying Report : To organize and
describe a field or topic into a class and
subclass hierarchy
2.Compositional Report : To Organise and
describe a field or topic according to its part (
a part or whole part )
Genericstructure of this text : -
Focus is on a “thing” rather than a sequence.
Report text are often referred to as
information repots. We use the term
‘information report’ as a general termto refer
to all of different kinds of report texts.
Language features of report text :
●Observe and identify the use of words,
phrases, sentences,and technical terms
which are mostly found in the text.
●Noun and noun phrases are used rather
than personal pronoun.
●Most reports are writtenin the present
tense

Biography is a detailed description of a
person's life. It involves more than just the
basic facts like education, work,
relationships, and death; it portrays a

may include an analysis of the subject's
personality .

Social Function of Biography: To know a
person’s story about his / her life outside of

Definition
a Legend is “a story or narrative that lies
somewhere between myth and historical fact
and which, as a rule, is about a particular
figure or person.”
that focuses on a historically or
geographically specific figure, and describes
his exploits.
A legend is a story about human eventsor
actions that has not been proved nor
documented in real history. Legends are
retold as if they are real events and were
believed to be historical accounts.
The Function of Legend :
1. To present the story of human actions
in such a way that they are perceived
by the the listeners or readersto be
true (in literature).
2. To entertain or to amuse the readers
about the interesting story (in general)
The Characteristics of Legend :
1. A legend is a set in specific place or

conflict among the participants.
3. RESOLUTION This phase tells how the
participants solve the problems
aroused by the conflict.It is not
matter whether the participants
succeed or fail. The point is the
conflict becomes ended. The problem
must be resolved.
4. RE-ORIENTATION It tells the
conclusion of the story. It usually
include the lesson from the story

Most of times Fable is assumed as a story

funny way but in fact the main characteristic
of a fable is containing a moral value which
can be found in the end of the story

The main difference between a legend and a
myth? There are marked differencesbetween
a legend and a myth. While legends are made
up stories, myths are stories that answer
questions about the working of natural
phenomenon. Myths are set in olden times,
even in pre-historic times. However, legends
are narratives that are partly true and partly
imaginary about a particular person, event,
place or natural feature.
Reflection from activity 1 : Biography
1. I have learnedbiography that it’s a detailed description of a person's life. In the activity I can
find out the positive, good character and get inspiration of the person for example Raden
Ajeng Kartini, Sukarno, etc.
2. The key features of biography are use of simple pasttense,focus on specificparticipant,use
of action verb, use temporal sequence and temporal conjunction.
3. I like thismaterial because we know more detailedinformationfromfiguressuchas character,
birth, parents or family, school, carrier, marriage, achievements, death, and moral values.
4. I need to improve in analyze the text.

events of Heroes’ Day, that is the important story about the heroic efforts of Indonesian
soldiers.

connectors).
3. I can increase mypride toloveIndonesia,commemoratethe struggleof the soldiersandkeep

4. I need to learn more in analyzing and creating of historical recount because there is the
important series of events in the story which is based on the fact.

1. Inthislearningactivity,Ihave learnedthatFable isconcernedwithastoryof animalswhichis
intended to give a moral value for the readers and I can also analyze the three aspects of
Fable, they are the social function, the generic structure and the language features.
2. The key features of Fables are using past tense, using animals or nature (non-human
characters) as main characters, containing a moral value and using personification
(anthropomorphized) and reflecting cultural beliefs.
3. I like thismaterial because we canconveyaspecificmoral value throughanamusingstoryto
the students so that can make students excited to study
4. I find it is not easy to create a well-organised fable which fulfills the writing elements (task
response,coherence andcohesion,lexical resource andgrammatical range and accuracy) as
mentioned in task 5.

that has not been proved nor documented in real history. Legendsare retold
as if they are real events and were believed to be historical accounts.
2. The key featured of legend include which is a genre folklore that consists of a narrative
featuringhumanactionsperceivedorbelievedbothbytellerandlistenerstohave takenplace
within human history. Narratives in this genre may demonstrate humanvalues, and possess
certain qualities that give the tale verisimilitude.
3. What Ilike mostaboutthisactivityiswecanfindmoral valuealthoughlegendisfictional story
but usually there is some historical truth at the hearth of every legend.
4. What I need to improve/learnmore is I have to know many legend in the world and how to

steps
 Manual is an instruction for you to operate a certain
product, usually it’s an electronic stuff such as phone,

a. Goal or aim: This part of the text describes the purpose of
doing or operating something.
b.Material or equipment: This part describes the materials
or equipments needed in the process of doing or operating
something.

that elaborates the writer's idea about the phenomenon
surrounding.

writer‘s position. The number of argumentsmay vary,
but each argument must be supported by evidence and
explanation.

of view. It presents pro and contra opinion on certain
issue.

a. General statement: to introduce the audience to the
topic of discussion – it can include a question and the
view of the author can be expressed here (called the
discussion‘s thesis)
b. A series of paragraph that have points for and against
the topic – the text may have paragraphs on the for
side followed by paragraphs on the against side, and
within the paragraphs there should be evidence to
support the point of view.
c. Concluding paragraphthat sums up the discussion
and gives the opinion of the author of the text.

writer/speaker to present (at least) two points of view
about issue or problem; to present arguments from
differing points of view about issue or problem.

Definition of manual procedure text:  Procedure Text is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps  Manual is an instruction for you to operate a certain product, usually it’s an electronic stuff such as phone, oven, television, etc. Object: electronic products. 2. Generic Structure a. Goal or aim: This part of the text describes the purpose of doing or operating something. b.Material or equipment: This part describes the materials or equipments needed in the process of doing or operating something. c. Steps or method: This part describes the set of instructions in order to achieve the goal. 3. Social Function: a. It is used to describe how something is done in sequenced steps. b. It provides a series of steps in sequence that explain the readers how to do something while allowing them to reach the outcome successfully. c.
