Lesson # 2 Patterns of Development
Prerequisite Content-knowledge: : Reading and Thinking Strategies across Text Types
Prerequisite Skill: Distinguish between and among techniques in selecting and organizing information
Prerequisites Assessment:
Identify problems and suggest solutions using the problem solution map.
Pre-lesson Remediation Activity:
1. For Students with Insufficient Level on Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s):
Content Review with additional examples for each reading and thinking strategy.
2. For Students with Fairly Sufficient Level on Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s):
Content Review and additional exercises on the different reading and thinking strategies
Introduction:
1. The student is expected to finish the lesson in 3 days.
2. The student is expected to gain these from learning the topic/lesson:
Remember: the different patterns of development
Understand: the importance of knowledge of different patterns of development in expressing oneself
Apply: different patterns of development in writing and expressing oneself

3. Context where the student is going to apply his/learning (In what PAA/EFAA and personal use?)
-identification of different patterns of development
-journal entry utilizing a pattern of development
-situation immersion utilizing a pattern of development
4. Overview of the Lesson
Patterns of development help us sort out information and develop and organize our insights. When beginning to write, it is helpful to determine the patterns of development that are most effective for
your purpose and audience.
Student’s Experiential Learning: (Note: Use the Flexible Learning Activity Identified for the topic/lesson relative to the General Enabling Teaching Strategy)
This section is intended for the presentation guide of the lesson proper. It must highlight the chunking of the topic into essential concepts through the use of formative questions.

How do the patterns of development improve the key idea of a paragraph?
Synthesis:
The students see the value of
1. Knowledge of the different patterns of development in sorting out information and shaping our paragraphs and essays
2. Using the most appropriate patterns development depending on their purpose
RUA of a Student’s Learning:
1. Students will identify and explain the different patterns of development used in a speech.

2. Students will be presented different situations and will present their answers employing the most suitable pattern of development.
Post-lesson Remediation Activity:
Give another set of sample speeches and ask students to identify the patterns of development used.
