Strategic Management Health Care
The process of making decisions is extremely vital, and it has
an impact on the healthcare industry. It mostly takes place
because there is an increase in competition in this sector of the
economy. Fortunately, strategic planning and management plays
an important role in this issue. It ensures that the health care
system leaders can come up with a vision that will promote the
delivery into the future. Furthermore, it assists in providing the
needed skills that will be aligned with the resources that will
help in achieving the vision. In the Assisted Living Facilities,
many challenging issues are present, and they might have an
impact even in the next five years.
In the Assisted Living Facility, some important issues have to
be addressed immediately. In fact, the American health care
industry and the economy have had quite some problems in the
past years. Furthermore, the Great Recession was one recent
upheaval that affected the manner, which Americans plan for
retirement, and thus some issues will come about. First, the
model of care in nursing will decline. It means that the aged
individuals will be housed in memory care, home care or
independent living. The ALF will have to come up with a model
of care that can be able to withstand future challenges.
Secondly, the care that is provided to seniors will be quite
dependent on technology. For example, robots can be used in
providing personal care to the aged. Such technological
advancements will play a role in improving the quality of life
and health of the seniors (Ginter, 2013). In this case, the ALF
needs to ensure that it can be able to keep up with technology to
become competitive.
In the next five years, the aged will not want to live in
communities, and mostly because they will not be in the ability
to afford it. They will instead be searching for options that can
ensure that they live independent lifestyles. One such way is
through having multigenerational housing whereby families can
live together. It means that the organization will have to be able
to provide such housing to the consumers. They will have to
invest more resources if they are to achieve this goal. Also, the
ALF will go green as well as being eco-friendly since it is
economical. It also provides the aged individuals with an
opportunity to become more caring about the environment even
during their golden years (Ginter, 2013).
A suitable organizational structure is needed in the Assisted
Living Facility within the entity of a leader in the industry that
it serves. The organizational structure usually depends on
factors such as the size, levels of care, and the needs of the
aged individuals. Furthermore, the people that are housed in the
ALF will need the services of different employees. In turn, the
organizational structure should be suited for this. The most
suitable organizational structure would have an administrator as
the leader, and then the people under this leader are the director
of nursing and the medical director. They all have different
responsibilities and roles that make the organization successful.
Since this ALF is quite large, and it houses more than three
hundred individuals, the leader will have to be an administrator
(Resnick & Mitty, 2009). Therefore, it is vital to have a suitable
and capable leader that can address all the strategic issues at the
organization.

Strategic Thinking 2
Professors Feedback:
You have given me a hint at the "what" that makes the
organization tick and related policies. The next steps are to
write about the "why" and "how" of the organization. this draws
upon the SWOT, the finances, the mission he operation. an dthe
policy enviroment. Ultimately, I need to see the answer to these
incremental steps in the answer to the final question, "So what?
How does this have an impact?" You are just putting your toe in
the water. Jump in with both feet and give the reader more. I
will let you know when it gets to be too much discussion :)

How Strategic Thinking and Planning affect the Internal and
External Environments of the Assisted Living Facility
It should be known that there some policies and trends that are
present in the Assisted Living Facility. In this case, when
dealing with the issue of trends, they are associated with how
the elderly are taken care off. Some of these trends include
seeking care abroad in nations such as Mexico because the
American ALF’s are becoming quite expensive. Another trend is
seen in the changes concerning the latest designs of the ALF.
The design is continuing to change to accommodate the ever-
changing needs of the elderly. The emerging policy issues are
those that deal with coming up with ways through, which the
labor force can be maintained, trained and recruited. It also
deals with how certain services can be given to the physically
challenged and the elderly as well as their families, and the
people responsible for delivering them. The last policy is
concerned about the people that handle the payment of the long-
term care (Kane, 2001).
It is vital to be informed about the policies, premises, business
and economic conditions as well as other related forces. It is
because they are known to form the basis for the generation of
change in the Assisted Living Facility. In addressing the issue
of economic and business conditions, most times the ALF are
affected by the prevailing economy, and thus they have to
increasetheir prices. For example, they can increase the
admission fees, and this will affect the number of individuals
that will want to receive care. When it comes to the issue of
business conditions, certain regulations can make it difficult to
operate such as obtaining licenses. Furthermore, the ALF’s tend
to be located in good and appropriate premises that are
conducive to the physically challenged and elderly. Lastly, the
policies that exist are meant to ensure that standards are upheld
for the benefit of all the concerned stakeholders (Moore, 2001).
Some issues tend to revolve around policy analysis and health
care management in the assisted living facilities. First, with
regards to policy analysis, it has to take place on a routine basis
for it to be successful. It means that the existing policies have
to be analyzed to know if they are contributing towards the
success of the ALF. For example, if a policy about training the
labor exists, it means that training has to take place. If this is
not taking place, the policy can be revised to make the training
mandatory. In the issue of health care management, the ALF
should ensure that the health of people seeking help is given
priority. It will be possible to do this if the staff has the needed
knowledge and skills to perform their job (Bowblis, 2012).
In conclusion, various markets exist in the Assisted Living
Facility, and they include those that serve the elderly and the
physically challenged. It means that the ALF serve the two
different markets and thus are unique. It is also vital to note
that certain determinants such as demand and supply are present
in the two markets. In the elderly market, if many people are
aged, it means that the supply will be high to accommodate
their needs. To add on, in the market that serves the physically
challenged, the supply and demand will be high depending on
the number of disabled individuals and assisted living facilities
that can serve their needs.

I apprecaite your original work and imaginationa great deal.
The limitation of this assignment is in the lack of financial data
you included. Without data, your discussion is intersting but
not valid. Take the next step and create a financial statement.

Financial and Operational Components for the Strategic
Planning Process
The Assisted Living Facility’s mission statement is to “aim to
be the leader of an exemplary customer service and caring
partner for the disabled”. It means that organizations are
dynamic systems that will work together in an efficient and
smooth manner to achieve their goals. It is vital to know that
some financial components are aligned with the organization’s
mission statement. Some of these key components include
financial support, out of pocket fees, and provision of a variety
of resources. First, when it comes to the issue of financial
support, the ALF makes sure it is financially stable to be able to
provide the required support to individuals. Secondly, in the
issue of out of pocket fees, the customers are provided with an
opportunity to pay their expenses using various methods.
Thirdly, many financial resources are available, and they ensure
that the customers will receive high-quality care (Namazi &
Chafetz, 2000).
The Assisted Living Facility’s mission is aligned with some
operational components, and they need to be known. They
include staffing schedules, staff training, and administration
schedules. It means that the staffing schedules ensure that right
numbers of staffs are available to conduct their various duties.
Furthermore, the mission dictates that the staff is well trained to
be able to meet the expectations of the customers. To add on,
the administration duties are carefully planned for so that the
ALF can be able to ensure that issues such as discharging and
admitting customers’ take place accordingly (Namazi &
Chafetz, 2000).
The financial components play a role in ensuring that the ALF’s
mission can be achieved by focusing on the organizational
weaknesses and strengths. The provision of various resources
means that the ALF can be able to meet the expectations of its
customers at all times. However, in certain situations, if
controls are not put in place, it can lead to misusing of the
funds. Furthermore, because of the issue of out of pocket fees,
the customers can be able to pay for the care that they will
receive at the ALF. In addition, when focusing on the issue of
financial support, it means that the ALF will be able to receive
funds that will improve the services that are usually provided.
The only weakness that exists is that the financial support can
be stopped, and this will affect the provision of services
(Lorange, 1994).
The operational components also ensure that the ALF can be
able to achieve its mission. In this case, when focusing on the
staffing schedules, they should always be appropriate in that the
right number of staff is available. However, if a problem such
as high staff turnover occurs, it will be possible to meet the
goals of the mission. Secondly, staff training should take place
to increase and improve the knowledge and skills of the staff.
However, if it does not take place, low-quality services will be
provided such as poor customer service. Lastly, the
administration schedules should be known and communicated
well and on time, to prevent problems from coming about
(Lorange, 1994).
In conclusion, the provided operational and financial
components are important issues that the ALF needs to consider.
It is because they influence the manner, which the mission
statement’s goals will be achieved. It is vital for all the key
stakeholders that are part of the ALF to ensure that the financial
components have a positive impact. Therefore, in the process of
strategic planning, it is important to consider the existing
operational and financial components.

Developing a Strategic Plan for Assisted Living Facility
Introduction
Assisted Living Facility (ALF) is a noble housing facility
specifically for those people that have different types of
disabilities. At the facility, these people are offered with
excellent supervision, customer service, and assistance as they
undertake their daily activities. It is, therefore, imperative to
develop a unique strategic plan, which will incorporate the
facility’s governance, goals, core values, vision, and mission.
Ideally, this will be done through adherence to the stipulated
strategic management principles so that the facility can be
successful for the next ten years from now (Eckert & Carder,
2009).
Developing the ALF’s Mission Statement
A mission statement refers to an official summary of the values
and aims of an organization, individual, or company. Hence, a
mission statement denotes an elaborately written declaration of
a company’s core focus and purpose, which normally remains
unaltered over time. In developing the mission statement, there
are various aspects, which have to be considered so that it can
be noble to both the employees and the clients. Thus, the
mission statement should be intelligible, specific, plausible,
concise, inspirational, and valuable (Simerson, 2011). In
essence, the mission statement for Assisted Living Facility will
be “aim to be the leader of an exemplary customer service and
caring partner for the disabled.”Developing the ALF’s Vision
Statement
A vision statement mainly defines the ideal desired future state
of an organization, which offers the mental picture of what it
plans to attain over time. Notably, a vision statement provides
inspiration, roadmap, focus, and guidance of the
accomplishments it articulates to achieve in the next five, eight,
ten, twelve, or more years. In developing the vision statement
for ALF, there are certain crucial factors to be examined which
include describing the goals for the next ten years, dreaming
big, and focusing on success. Other factors are the use of
present tense, clear and concise language, infusion of emotion
and passion, as well as painting a graphic exceptional mental
picture about the facility (Steiner, 2010). Hence, the best vision
statement for ALF will be “We intend to offer our clients with
the best housing facility experience, excellent assistance, and
supervision.”Developing the ALF’s Core Values
An organization’s core values refer to guiding principles, which
dictate action and behavior. They assist the employees to be
knowledgeable about what is wrong and right, help the
organization to determine their right path, as well as creates an
unchanging and unwavering guide. Ideally, when developing the
core values for the facility, the management will have to decide
on the keys values that they want to integrate into a culture
(Simerson, 2011). Therefore, the core values for ALF will be –
Loyal, Dependable, Committed, Loving, and Nurturing.
Developing the ALF’s Goals
The goals or objectives of an organization refer to its aims,
ambition, effort, and desired results which it plans to achieve.
These goals should be measurable and observable. Ideally, when
developing the goals for ALF, the SMART principle should be
followed strictly. The SMART principle refers to goals, which
are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely
(Steiner, 2010). In particular, the goals for ALF are to provide
excellent housing facility, ensure that the clients are well fed
and provide exemplary supervision.
Developing the ALF’s Governance
The terminology referred to as governance denotes the manner
or action of governing an organization through the
establishment of noble policies, as well as continuous proper
implementation monitoring. Subsequently, the management of
ALF will implement good governance at the facility and an
open-door policy for the employees so that the facility can
operate in a favorable working environment. This will motivate
the employees so that the organization can achieve its mission
and vision (Simerson, 2011).
Strategic Initiatives
After having determined the above components, ALF needs to
determine its strategic initiatives, which refer to the manner
through which the facility’s vision will be translated into
practice. Thus, the ALF’s strategic initiatives include re-
engaging employees through growth focus, back-to-basics,
retaining of talent, and employee involvement in the decision-
making process, implementation of employee evaluation and
appraisal programs (Steiner, 2010).
Conclusion
Assisted Living Facility is focused to be among the best
housing facilities in the country especially after the
development and implementation of the factors mentioned
above. In addition, the strategic initiatives should be evaluated
after a period of three months so that their effectiveness can be
examined. Corrective measures should be undertaken in case
some of them seem not to work. Nevertheless, the facility is at
its optimum period for it to tremendously grow and achieve its
intended vision and mission.

Strategic Management Plan for an Assisted Living Facility
The selected health care system for this strategic management
plan is an Assisted Living Facility. The mentioned facility
refers to a housing facility for people that have various forms of
disabilities. While in the facilities, the individuals are provided
with assistance or supervision when they are engaging in
activities associated with daily living. To add on, outside
healthcare providers handle the coordination of services. They
are also responsible for monitoring the different resident
activities that will ensure their well-being, safety, as well as
health. It should also be known that some factors have an
impact on the assisted living facility (Zuckerman, 2005).
Key socioeconomic factors such as demographics of physician
base, employee base, and patient base affect the ALF. In this
case, since many people are aging it means that they will suffer
from some form of disability and will need the services of the
ALF. Furthermore, the population continues to become quite
diverse, and the employees are affected by this. In turn, they
will need to have skills that will enable them to deal with the
various ethnically diverse patients. In addition, the issue of
shortage and surpluses of physicians will come about, and they
will affect how services are given to individuals in need of care
in an ALF (Eckert & Carder, 2005). For example, if there are
few physicians, it means that people who need their services
will suffer in the end.
Legislative factors will also affect the ALF mostly because they
seek to promote the issue of consumer safety. Some of the
factors include the large-scale legislative agendas and reforms,
even legislative reforms that seek to reduce the high costs. It
means that in the future, the state and federal legislative actions
will increase so that modifications can be made. The result is
that the consumers will be able to obtain care at the ALF while
paying reasonable amounts. The organization will thus have to
find ways of adjusting to the costs. Policy factors also come
about in this issue because of some policies and regulations. For
example, the government through its agencies may decide that it
will come up with even more strict regulations for individuals’
health care workers that will not perform accordingly. In other
situations, the organizations that are responsible for the
accreditation of the ALF’s will make licensing hard and the
already established organizations will benefit since they will
not be in competition (Eckert & Carder, 2005).
The Assisted Living Facility will be affected by some
organizational factors such as competency building,
encouraging staff development, as well as retaining and
recruiting talent. In this case, the organization will have to
strive to ensure that it only recruits the best talent, trains them,
and provides an avenue for career progression. When it comes
to the issue of service delivery, the people in need of services
will demand to be given high-class services because of the
advancements in various health related fields. It is also vital to
be informed that technological factors such as an
implementation of information technology systems, research
advances, and medical equipment will increase the range of
quality of services that the organization will provide. Lastly,
some the current economic factors such as the organization’s
financial stability and reimbursement will determine if the ALF
will be able to continue during despite the challenges that exist
(Chafetz & Namazi, 2000). Therefore, an Assisted Living
Facility will have to find ways of addressing all the issues that
might affect it.

Running head STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT HEALTH CARE .docx

  • 1. Running head: STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT HEALTH CARE 1 STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT HEALTH CARE 4 Professors Feedback: Lindsay, This is a great start. You need to provide more detail. In the final please include an org chart. They are very helpful for the reader. Dr. B Grade:66% Strategic Management Health Care The process of making decisions is extremely vital, and it has an impact on the healthcare industry. It mostly takes place because there is an increase in competition in this sector of the economy. Fortunately, strategic planning and management plays an important role in this issue. It ensures that the health care system leaders can come up with a vision that will promote the
  • 2. delivery into the future. Furthermore, it assists in providing the needed skills that will be aligned with the resources that will help in achieving the vision. In the Assisted Living Facilities, many challenging issues are present, and they might have an impact even in the next five years. In the Assisted Living Facility, some important issues have to be addressed immediately. In fact, the American health care industry and the economy have had quite some problems in the past years. Furthermore, the Great Recession was one recent upheaval that affected the manner, which Americans plan for retirement, and thus some issues will come about. First, the model of care in nursing will decline. It means that the aged individuals will be housed in memory care, home care or independent living. The ALF will have to come up with a model of care that can be able to withstand future challenges. Secondly, the care that is provided to seniors will be quite dependent on technology. For example, robots can be used in providing personal care to the aged. Such technological advancements will play a role in improving the quality of life and health of the seniors (Ginter, 2013). In this case, the ALF needs to ensure that it can be able to keep up with technology to become competitive. In the next five years, the aged will not want to live in communities, and mostly because they will not be in the ability to afford it. They will instead be searching for options that can ensure that they live independent lifestyles. One such way is through having multigenerational housing whereby families can live together. It means that the organization will have to be able to provide such housing to the consumers. They will have to invest more resources if they are to achieve this goal. Also, the ALF will go green as well as being eco-friendly since it is economical. It also provides the aged individuals with an opportunity to become more caring about the environment even during their golden years (Ginter, 2013). A suitable organizational structure is needed in the Assisted Living Facility within the entity of a leader in the industry that
  • 3. it serves. The organizational structure usually depends on factors such as the size, levels of care, and the needs of the aged individuals. Furthermore, the people that are housed in the ALF will need the services of different employees. In turn, the organizational structure should be suited for this. The most suitable organizational structure would have an administrator as the leader, and then the people under this leader are the director of nursing and the medical director. They all have different responsibilities and roles that make the organization successful. Since this ALF is quite large, and it houses more than three hundred individuals, the leader will have to be an administrator (Resnick & Mitty, 2009). Therefore, it is vital to have a suitable and capable leader that can address all the strategic issues at the organization. References: Ginter, P. (2013). The Strategic Management of Health Care Organizations. New York: Jossey-Bass. Resnick, B., & Mitty, E. (2009). Assisted Living Nursing: A Manual for Management and Practice. New York: Springer Publishing Company. Strategic Thinking 2 Professors Feedback: You have given me a hint at the "what" that makes the organization tick and related policies. The next steps are to write about the "why" and "how" of the organization. this draws upon the SWOT, the finances, the mission he operation. an dthe
  • 4. policy enviroment. Ultimately, I need to see the answer to these incremental steps in the answer to the final question, "So what? How does this have an impact?" You are just putting your toe in the water. Jump in with both feet and give the reader more. I will let you know when it gets to be too much discussion :) Grade: 85% How Strategic Thinking and Planning affect the Internal and External Environments of the Assisted Living Facility It should be known that there some policies and trends that are present in the Assisted Living Facility. In this case, when dealing with the issue of trends, they are associated with how the elderly are taken care off. Some of these trends include seeking care abroad in nations such as Mexico because the American ALF’s are becoming quite expensive. Another trend is seen in the changes concerning the latest designs of the ALF. The design is continuing to change to accommodate the ever- changing needs of the elderly. The emerging policy issues are those that deal with coming up with ways through, which the labor force can be maintained, trained and recruited. It also deals with how certain services can be given to the physically challenged and the elderly as well as their families, and the people responsible for delivering them. The last policy is concerned about the people that handle the payment of the long- term care (Kane, 2001). It is vital to be informed about the policies, premises, business and economic conditions as well as other related forces. It is because they are known to form the basis for the generation of change in the Assisted Living Facility. In addressing the issue of economic and business conditions, most times the ALF are
  • 5. affected by the prevailing economy, and thus they have to increasetheir prices. For example, they can increase the admission fees, and this will affect the number of individuals that will want to receive care. When it comes to the issue of business conditions, certain regulations can make it difficult to operate such as obtaining licenses. Furthermore, the ALF’s tend to be located in good and appropriate premises that are conducive to the physically challenged and elderly. Lastly, the policies that exist are meant to ensure that standards are upheld for the benefit of all the concerned stakeholders (Moore, 2001). Some issues tend to revolve around policy analysis and health care management in the assisted living facilities. First, with regards to policy analysis, it has to take place on a routine basis for it to be successful. It means that the existing policies have to be analyzed to know if they are contributing towards the success of the ALF. For example, if a policy about training the labor exists, it means that training has to take place. If this is not taking place, the policy can be revised to make the training mandatory. In the issue of health care management, the ALF should ensure that the health of people seeking help is given priority. It will be possible to do this if the staff has the needed knowledge and skills to perform their job (Bowblis, 2012). In conclusion, various markets exist in the Assisted Living Facility, and they include those that serve the elderly and the physically challenged. It means that the ALF serve the two different markets and thus are unique. It is also vital to note that certain determinants such as demand and supply are present in the two markets. In the elderly market, if many people are aged, it means that the supply will be high to accommodate their needs. To add on, in the market that serves the physically challenged, the supply and demand will be high depending on the number of disabled individuals and assisted living facilities that can serve their needs. FINANCIAL AND OPERATIONAL COMPONENTS FOR THE STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS 1 FINANCIAL AND OPERATIONAL COMPONENTS FOR THE STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS 2 Professors Feedback: Lindsay, I apprecaite your original work and imaginationa great deal. The limitation of this assignment is in the lack of financial data you included. Without data, your discussion is intersting but not valid. Take the next step and create a financial statement. Use those numbers to support your argument. Dr. B Grade: 85%
  • 7. Financial and Operational Components for the Strategic Planning Process The Assisted Living Facility’s mission statement is to “aim to be the leader of an exemplary customer service and caring partner for the disabled”. It means that organizations are dynamic systems that will work together in an efficient and smooth manner to achieve their goals. It is vital to know that some financial components are aligned with the organization’s mission statement. Some of these key components include financial support, out of pocket fees, and provision of a variety of resources. First, when it comes to the issue of financial support, the ALF makes sure it is financially stable to be able to provide the required support to individuals. Secondly, in the issue of out of pocket fees, the customers are provided with an opportunity to pay their expenses using various methods. Thirdly, many financial resources are available, and they ensure that the customers will receive high-quality care (Namazi & Chafetz, 2000). The Assisted Living Facility’s mission is aligned with some operational components, and they need to be known. They include staffing schedules, staff training, and administration schedules. It means that the staffing schedules ensure that right numbers of staffs are available to conduct their various duties. Furthermore, the mission dictates that the staff is well trained to be able to meet the expectations of the customers. To add on, the administration duties are carefully planned for so that the ALF can be able to ensure that issues such as discharging and admitting customers’ take place accordingly (Namazi & Chafetz, 2000). The financial components play a role in ensuring that the ALF’s mission can be achieved by focusing on the organizational weaknesses and strengths. The provision of various resources means that the ALF can be able to meet the expectations of its customers at all times. However, in certain situations, if controls are not put in place, it can lead to misusing of the funds. Furthermore, because of the issue of out of pocket fees,
  • 8. the customers can be able to pay for the care that they will receive at the ALF. In addition, when focusing on the issue of financial support, it means that the ALF will be able to receive funds that will improve the services that are usually provided. The only weakness that exists is that the financial support can be stopped, and this will affect the provision of services (Lorange, 1994). The operational components also ensure that the ALF can be able to achieve its mission. In this case, when focusing on the staffing schedules, they should always be appropriate in that the right number of staff is available. However, if a problem such as high staff turnover occurs, it will be possible to meet the goals of the mission. Secondly, staff training should take place to increase and improve the knowledge and skills of the staff. However, if it does not take place, low-quality services will be provided such as poor customer service. Lastly, the administration schedules should be known and communicated well and on time, to prevent problems from coming about (Lorange, 1994). In conclusion, the provided operational and financial components are important issues that the ALF needs to consider. It is because they influence the manner, which the mission statement’s goals will be achieved. It is vital for all the key stakeholders that are part of the ALF to ensure that the financial components have a positive impact. Therefore, in the process of strategic planning, it is important to consider the existing operational and financial components. References: Lorange, P. (1994). Strategic Planning Process. Boston: Dartmouth Publishing Company. Namazi, K., & Chafetz, P. (2000). Assisted Living: Current Issues in Facility Management and Resident Care. New York: Greenwood Publishing Group.
  • 9. DEVELOPING A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY 2 Professor Feedback: Lindsay, Great work. You have to add the next level to your work. How will these elements be applied? What are the outcomes? I would suggest that you beware language like "noble housing..." that identifies your bias. This can easily raise red flags to readers. Grade: 91% Developing a Strategic Plan for Assisted Living Facility Introduction Assisted Living Facility (ALF) is a noble housing facility specifically for those people that have different types of disabilities. At the facility, these people are offered with excellent supervision, customer service, and assistance as they undertake their daily activities. It is, therefore, imperative to develop a unique strategic plan, which will incorporate the facility’s governance, goals, core values, vision, and mission. Ideally, this will be done through adherence to the stipulated strategic management principles so that the facility can be successful for the next ten years from now (Eckert & Carder, 2009). Developing the ALF’s Mission Statement
  • 10. A mission statement refers to an official summary of the values and aims of an organization, individual, or company. Hence, a mission statement denotes an elaborately written declaration of a company’s core focus and purpose, which normally remains unaltered over time. In developing the mission statement, there are various aspects, which have to be considered so that it can be noble to both the employees and the clients. Thus, the mission statement should be intelligible, specific, plausible, concise, inspirational, and valuable (Simerson, 2011). In essence, the mission statement for Assisted Living Facility will be “aim to be the leader of an exemplary customer service and caring partner for the disabled.”Developing the ALF’s Vision Statement A vision statement mainly defines the ideal desired future state of an organization, which offers the mental picture of what it plans to attain over time. Notably, a vision statement provides inspiration, roadmap, focus, and guidance of the accomplishments it articulates to achieve in the next five, eight, ten, twelve, or more years. In developing the vision statement for ALF, there are certain crucial factors to be examined which include describing the goals for the next ten years, dreaming big, and focusing on success. Other factors are the use of present tense, clear and concise language, infusion of emotion and passion, as well as painting a graphic exceptional mental picture about the facility (Steiner, 2010). Hence, the best vision statement for ALF will be “We intend to offer our clients with the best housing facility experience, excellent assistance, and supervision.”Developing the ALF’s Core Values An organization’s core values refer to guiding principles, which dictate action and behavior. They assist the employees to be knowledgeable about what is wrong and right, help the organization to determine their right path, as well as creates an unchanging and unwavering guide. Ideally, when developing the core values for the facility, the management will have to decide on the keys values that they want to integrate into a culture (Simerson, 2011). Therefore, the core values for ALF will be –
  • 11. Loyal, Dependable, Committed, Loving, and Nurturing. Developing the ALF’s Goals The goals or objectives of an organization refer to its aims, ambition, effort, and desired results which it plans to achieve. These goals should be measurable and observable. Ideally, when developing the goals for ALF, the SMART principle should be followed strictly. The SMART principle refers to goals, which are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely (Steiner, 2010). In particular, the goals for ALF are to provide excellent housing facility, ensure that the clients are well fed and provide exemplary supervision. Developing the ALF’s Governance The terminology referred to as governance denotes the manner or action of governing an organization through the establishment of noble policies, as well as continuous proper implementation monitoring. Subsequently, the management of ALF will implement good governance at the facility and an open-door policy for the employees so that the facility can operate in a favorable working environment. This will motivate the employees so that the organization can achieve its mission and vision (Simerson, 2011). Strategic Initiatives After having determined the above components, ALF needs to determine its strategic initiatives, which refer to the manner through which the facility’s vision will be translated into practice. Thus, the ALF’s strategic initiatives include re- engaging employees through growth focus, back-to-basics, retaining of talent, and employee involvement in the decision- making process, implementation of employee evaluation and appraisal programs (Steiner, 2010). Conclusion Assisted Living Facility is focused to be among the best housing facilities in the country especially after the development and implementation of the factors mentioned above. In addition, the strategic initiatives should be evaluated after a period of three months so that their effectiveness can be
  • 12. examined. Corrective measures should be undertaken in case some of them seem not to work. Nevertheless, the facility is at its optimum period for it to tremendously grow and achieve its intended vision and mission. References Eckert, K., & Carder, P. (2009). • 13. Grade:91% Strategic Management Plan for an Assisted Living Facility The selected health care system for this strategic management plan is an Assisted Living Facility. The mentioned facility refers to a housing facility for people that have various forms of disabilities. While in the facilities, the individuals are provided with assistance or supervision when they are engaging in activities associated with daily living. To add on, outside healthcare providers handle the coordination of services. They are also responsible for monitoring the different resident activities that will ensure their well-being, safety, as well as health. It should also be known that some factors have an impact on the assisted living facility (Zuckerman, 2005). Key socioeconomic factors such as demographics of physician base, employee base, and patient base affect the ALF. In this case, since many people are aging it means that they will suffer from some form of disability and will need the services of the ALF. Furthermore, the population continues to become quite diverse, and the employees are affected by this. In turn, they
  • 14. will need to have skills that will enable them to deal with the various ethnically diverse patients. In addition, the issue of shortage and surpluses of physicians will come about, and they will affect how services are given to individuals in need of care in an ALF (Eckert & Carder, 2005). For example, if there are few physicians, it means that people who need their services will suffer in the end. Legislative factors will also affect the ALF mostly because they seek to promote the issue of consumer safety. Some of the factors include the large-scale legislative agendas and reforms, even legislative reforms that seek to reduce the high costs. It means that in the future, the state and federal legislative actions will increase so that modifications can be made. The result is that the consumers will be able to obtain care at the ALF while paying reasonable amounts. The organization will thus have to find ways of adjusting to the costs. Policy factors also come about in this issue because of some policies and regulations.
