  1. This intriguing concept has profound implications for leadership, challenging the way leaders guide their teams. Dunning and Kruger's seminal research, conducted in 1999, showcased how individuals with low cognitive abilities in a particular domain not only fail to recognize their shortcomings but, paradoxically, tend to believe their competence is above average.   This overestimation stems from a dual burden: these individuals lack the metacognitive skills to recognize their incompetence and, at the same time, lack the expertise to accurately assess their level of competence.
  2. Will Hunting, a janitor at M.I.T., has a gift for mathematics, but needs help from a psychologist to find direction in his life.
