Level Design Document
Overview
The strange sounds that are pursuing Flint lead him to the Kalyani temple where the sounds suddenly
stop to pursue him. Flint has reached the Kalyani temple. The player is introduced with a cinematic of
the beautiful temple. This temple is full of traps and wild animals that will create a challenge for the
player.
As soon as the player enters the first compound of the temple he finds the saboteurs half of his body
crushed under the rock and he is just saying "Halin......Halin as he shouts his last words he eventually
dies. This cinematic of the saboteur trapped under a rock is just the notion and a idea to give player an
overview that in this level the player has to face some traps and some challenges that can be avoided.
The player will be indicated that there's some ammunitions placed near the dead saboteur. from here
there will be an over view of the temple showing some wild animals and traps. This will warn the player
in advance that he cannot just run anywhere now and he has to be cautious.
Level is divided into
 Outer Compound
 Inner compound
Player Objective:
The focus of the player is avoid the traps and if the player is trapped in certain situations he has to find a
way to get out of the situation. The player will find some health pack in some secret corners. But above
all the main objective is to survive the traps wild animals and reach the level's end.
Level Objective
The main objective of the level is to introduce the player to challenges like traps and solving puzzles.
Introduce a gameplay that creates an interest for the player. The player will continue in search of
Olafsen which will the primary objective the level will provide.
Level items:
Player can collect the following items and some weapons:
 Old artifacts
 certain gems the player will find
 Golden, silver artifacts
 Indigenous Blowpipe
 one strong bamboo stick
 Boomerang

Characters
The main character of the player will be Flint O'Conner.
The player will encounter one of the saboteur in starting of this level.(It will only be for the cinematic
purpose).
Player will encounter different enemies.
Easy enemies
Insects
The insects in this temple are not only ugly but also are big than usual:
1. Assassin Bug - This bug is ugly but will die easily with a blow of the bamboo stick or the gun.
Beware though they attack in big numbers.
2. Grasshopper - The grasshopper usually comes one by one but it's hard to target them when
they hop
3. Honey Bee - found near the ancient flowers they do not like to be disturbed. Well flying up high
their vision is more than usual. It's easy to kill them with darts and gun though.
(The size of these insect varies from 2 to 4 feet)
Medium Enemies
Medium enemies are considered to be a bit tougher to kill. They belong to family of the wild cats.
1. Panthers: The panthers are the wild black cats that will require more skill from the player's to
kill it. They can climb the trees so also look up when you walk.
2. Wild Cats: An additional enemy for this level only. The wild cats will create a challenge for the
player because they can come out of the small corners of the temple.
Hard Enemy
The hard enemy will be hard to kill and will be a good challenge though best weapon for this enemy is a
gun.
1. Tiger: King of the forest a tough enemy to not only kill but also faster than other animals you
may encounter.

Level Details
Architecture design:
The design and style of architecture used in this level will be that of the old temples that were built
during the era of ancient civilization. Kalyani temple will hold the architecture style of the King Asoka
age. This temple will have a mixture of the Buddhist and Hindu architecture style.
Surrounding assets:
The items and all objects used in the level will vary as the created assets ancient walls temple walls with
carving. The carving and the temple made in 3d will suite the environment the most. Though as a
backup plan textured carvings can be used for the temple walls. Since the temple is in ruins it will be
covered with grass and trees also spectacular giant flowers as big as 5 feet in diameter.
Area:
The area this level covers is the outer compound of the temple as well as the inner compound of the
temple. There will be secret passages for the level which will cover some underground areas. There will
be 4 temple buildings that will consist of different rooms. The player will find many interesting artifacts
there but beware of the wild cats and insects.
Visuals:
This level will contain the visuals that will make the player believe in the magical forest. The level will
contain exotic scenery. The scene's are beautiful but also dangerous.
Level Pace:
The level pace will play an important role in keeping the interest of the player. After getting into the
outer compound of the temple player will encounter the insects and small traps. But as the level
progresses, when the player gets into the inner compound he will have to solve a puzzle to open the
door . Then fight some insects and then he will face the hard enemy in middle of the level. But the
player will face the medium enemy at end of the level.
Lighting Components:
The light used in the outer and inner compound will be the day light. Later the lights used in the temple
buildings will be from the windows and doors of the buildings. There will be small torches which the
player will have to ignite himself. The light reflection will vary and the light will b adjusted accordingly
inside the temple rooms.

Gameplay Overview
Player Goal:
The player will be given an objective to find Olafsen as a primary objective. The objective of the player
will change as he goes further into the level. In the outer compound the main goal of the player will be
to open the main gate to get into the inner compound. The player can explore the outer compound at
the same time.
When the player gets into the inner compound his goal will be survive the attacks of the animals and to
explore the temples. To open the secret passage to the ancient city player has to fight the wild animals
in the temple.
Level Goal
The main goal of the level related to gameplay is to create a challenging environment where the player
is interested to explore the level. The exploration itself will reveal many items and interesting challenges
for the player to face.
Level Difficulty
The level includes enemies from insects to wild cats. But beside them the player has to go through the
traps and to avoid getting hit by the poisoned darts. If the character is hit by the darts the control of the
player over the character will be less. During this less responsive time the player will only encounter
enemies like the insects.
The difficulty will increase as the player moves into the level.
Skills and Procedures for the player
The player will have to use his different skills during the level gameplay. The player can use stealth and
his weapons at the same time to kill his enemies.
For example the player is near 2 panthers. Player is hiding behind ruin wall. He can use the darts to slow
the panthers down and use his gun to kill them or use his knife to go near them and kill them.
The player can shut the entrance of the ground hole where the insects are coming from.

Level Walkthrough
Outer Compound
 The player enters the outer compound as the game start's. As he moves further into the level he
finds one of the saboteur trapped. A cinematic is displayed( The saboteur shouting Halin....Halin
and dies).
 The player can take the ammunition from the saboteur as he is low on ammo. It is the players
choice though. The player continues into the temple compound. He finds a big door blocking his
way. When he reaches the door a cinematic is played which shows the lever located at end of
the outer compound.
 Player reaches the lever to find out its blocked by a boulder. The player has to solve a puzzle to
remove the boulder and activate the lever. The rest of the outer compound where the player
can explore it but has to avoid some traps and kill some enemies to gain the items.
 There is one secret room where the player can get some gold and ammunition left by some
Japanese explorers. The player after exploring enters the Inner compound.
Inner Compound
 The player enters inner compound . There is a small wall in front of him. The player can either
take a right way path or he can take a left way path. If the player takes the left way then he will
encounter the enemies like Insects and panther. Going straight he will find the entrance towards
the ancient city.
 Then the player goes to explore rest of the inner compound.
 If the player chooses the right path he will find himself against Medium and easy enemies. But
he will have the temple 1 and 3 to explore to find useful items.
 Temple no 1 and 3 contain artifacts and weapons for the players. There will be couple of traps
for the player to avoid.
 Whenever the player reaches temple no 4 he will find it locked and an objective will be added to
his list to find the artifact from the temple no 2.
 When he reaches temple no 2 inside the temple he will encounter the tiger. Here the player
must have good amount of ammunition and darts to kill this beast.
 After getting the artifact required to open the gate of temple no 4 the player will have to fight
the panther. Once the panther is dead the player can take the key.
 After taking the key player will be able to proceed to the next level.
(Since this is the 3rd level the gameplay must be interesting but not complicated, so the player's interest
is continued)

Level Design Document Flint O'Connor and the Jewel of Halin Ajay Chaudhary Page 3 Level Design Document Overview The strange sounds that are pursuing Flint lead him to the Kalyani temple where the sounds suddenly stop to pursue him. Flint has reached the Kalyani temple. The player is introduced with a cinematic of the beautiful temple. This temple is full of traps and wild animals that will create a challenge for the player. As soon as the player enters the first compound of the temple he finds the saboteurs half of his body crushed under the rock and he is just saying "Halin......Halin as he shouts his last words he eventually dies. This cinematic of the saboteur trapped under a rock is just the notion and a idea to give player an overview that in this level the player has to face some traps and some challenges that can be avoided. The player will be indicated that there's some ammunitions placed near the dead saboteur. from here there will be an over view of the temple showing some wild animals and traps. This will warn the player in advance that he cannot just run anywhere now and he has to be cautious. Level is divided into  Outer Compound  Inner compound Player Objective: The focus of the player is avoid the traps and if the player is trapped in certain situations he has to find a way to get out of the situation. The player will find some health pack in some secret corners. But above all the main objective is to survive the traps wild animals and reach the level's end. Level Objective The main objective of the level is to introduce the player to challenges like traps and solving puzzles. Introduce a gameplay that creates an interest for the player. The player will continue in search of Olafsen which will the primary objective the level will provide. Level items: Player can collect the following items and some weapons:  Old artifacts  certain gems the player will find  Golden, silver artifacts  Indigenous Blowpipe  one strong bamboo stick  Boomerang

The player will encounter one of the saboteur in starting of this level.(It will only be for the cinematic purpose). Player will encounter different enemies. Easy enemies Insects The insects in this temple are not only ugly but also are big than usual: 1. Assassin Bug - This bug is ugly but will die easily with a blow of the bamboo stick or the gun. Beware though they attack in big numbers. 2. Grasshopper - The grasshopper usually comes one by one but it's hard to target them when they hop 3. Honey Bee - found near the ancient flowers they do not like to be disturbed. Well flying up high their vision is more than usual. It's easy to kill them with darts and gun though. (The size of these insect varies from 2 to 4 feet) Medium Enemies Medium enemies are considered to be a bit tougher to kill. They belong to family of the wild cats. 1. Panthers: The panthers are the wild black cats that will require more skill from the player's to kill it. They can climb the trees so also look up when you walk. 2. Wild Cats: An additional enemy for this level only. The wild cats will create a challenge for the player because they can come out of the small corners of the temple. Hard Enemy The hard enemy will be hard to kill and will be a good challenge though best weapon for this enemy is a gun. 1. Tiger: King of the forest a tough enemy to not only kill but also faster than other animals you may encounter.

Level Design Document Flint O'Connor and the Jewel of Halin Ajay Chaudhary Page 5 Level Details Architecture design: The design and style of architecture used in this level will be that of the old temples that were built during the era of ancient civilization. Kalyani temple will hold the architecture style of the King Asoka age. This temple will have a mixture of the Buddhist and Hindu architecture style. Surrounding assets: The items and all objects used in the level will vary as the created assets ancient walls temple walls with carving. The carving and the temple made in 3d will suite the environment the most. Though as a backup plan textured carvings can be used for the temple walls. Since the temple is in ruins it will be covered with grass and trees also spectacular giant flowers as big as 5 feet in diameter. Area: The area this level covers is the outer compound of the temple as well as the inner compound of the temple. There will be secret passages for the level which will cover some underground areas. There will be 4 temple buildings that will consist of different rooms. The player will find many interesting artifacts there but beware of the wild cats and insects. Visuals: This level will contain the visuals that will make the player believe in the magical forest. The level will contain exotic scenery. The scene's are beautiful but also dangerous. Level Pace: The level pace will play an important role in keeping the interest of the player. After getting into the outer compound of the temple player will encounter the insects and small traps. But as the level progresses, when the player gets into the inner compound he will have to solve a puzzle to open the door . Then fight some insects and then he will face the hard enemy in middle of the level. But the player will face the medium enemy at end of the level. Lighting Components: The light used in the outer and inner compound will be the day light. Later the lights used in the temple buildings will be from the windows and doors of the buildings. There will be small torches which the player will have to ignite himself. The light reflection will vary and the light will b adjusted accordingly inside the temple rooms.

  • 8. Level Design Document Flint O'Connor and the Jewel of Halin Ajay Chaudhary Page 8 Gameplay Overview Player Goal: The player will be given an objective to find Olafsen as a primary objective. The objective of the player will change as he goes further into the level. In the outer compound the main goal of the player will be to open the main gate to get into the inner compound. The player can explore the outer compound at the same time. When the player gets into the inner compound his goal will be survive the attacks of the animals and to explore the temples. To open the secret passage to the ancient city player has to fight the wild animals in the temple. Level Goal The main goal of the level related to gameplay is to create a challenging environment where the player is interested to explore the level. The exploration itself will reveal many items and interesting challenges for the player to face. Level Difficulty The level includes enemies from insects to wild cats. But beside them the player has to go through the traps and to avoid getting hit by the poisoned darts. If the character is hit by the darts the control of the player over the character will be less. During this less responsive time the player will only encounter enemies like the insects. The difficulty will increase as the player moves into the level. Skills and Procedures for the player The player will have to use his different skills during the level gameplay. The player can use stealth and his weapons at the same time to kill his enemies. For example the player is near 2 panthers. Player is hiding behind ruin wall. He can use the darts to slow the panthers down and use his gun to kill them or use his knife to go near them and kill them. The player can shut the entrance of the ground hole where the insects are coming from.

As he moves further into the level he finds one of the saboteur trapped. A cinematic is displayed( The saboteur shouting Halin....Halin and dies).  The player can take the ammunition from the saboteur as he is low on ammo. It is the players choice though. The player continues into the temple compound. He finds a big door blocking his way. When he reaches the door a cinematic is played which shows the lever located at end of the outer compound.  Player reaches the lever to find out its blocked by a boulder. The player has to solve a puzzle to remove the boulder and activate the lever. The rest of the outer compound where the player can explore it but has to avoid some traps and kill some enemies to gain the items.  There is one secret room where the player can get some gold and ammunition left by some Japanese explorers. The player after exploring enters the Inner compound. Inner Compound  The player enters inner compound . There is a small wall in front of him. The player can either take a right way path or he can take a left way path. If the player takes the left way then he will encounter the enemies like Insects and panther. Going straight he will find the entrance towards the ancient city.  Then the player goes to explore rest of the inner compound.  If the player chooses the right path he will find himself against Medium and easy enemies. But he will have the temple 1 and 3 to explore to find useful items.  Temple no 1 and 3 contain artifacts and weapons for the players. There will be couple of traps for the player to avoid.  Whenever the player reaches temple no 4 he will find it locked and an objective will be added to his list to find the artifact from the temple no 2.  When he reaches temple no 2 inside the temple he will encounter the tiger. Here the player must have good amount of ammunition and darts to kill this beast.  After getting the artifact required to open the gate of temple no 4 the player will have to fight the panther. Once the panther is dead the player can take the key.  After taking the key player will be able to proceed to the next level. (Since this is the 3rd level the gameplay must be interesting but not complicated, so the player's interest is continued)
