2. What is IoT ?
•Internet of Things is the concept of
connecting any device to the
Internet and to other connected
devices.
•The IoT is a giant network of
connected things and people – all of
which collect and share data.
3. How does IoT work?
• Devices and objects with built in sensors are connected to
an Internet of Things platform.
• Integrates data from the different devices and applies
analytics.
• Share the most valuable data.
6. Project
• Electronic device built forms the basis of smart buildings.
• The device will work on smart lights in a smart building and the
system will send data from the device to the cloud for analysis
• The device developed can sense the number of occupants in the
room with the help of PIR sensors and automatically switch the
lights ON/ OFF based on occupancy.
8. ARDUINO
Arduino is an open source electronics prototyping platform based on
flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software.
9. ESP8266
The ESP8266 is a low-cost Wi-Fi microchip with
full TCP/IP stack and microcontroller capability
produced by Shanghai-based Chinese manufacturer
Espressif Systems.
10. Communication to ESP8266
using commands
• ESP8266, in its default configuration, boots up into the serial
modem mode. In this mode it communicate using a set of AT
commands.
• AT commands are instructions used to control a modem. AT is the
abbreviation of ATtention
12. PIR Sensor
A passive infrared sensor (PIR sensor) is an electronic sensor that
measures infrared (IR) light radiating from objects in its field of view
