Accelerated or Credit Recovery <ul><li>Accelerated courses </li></ul><ul><li>traditionally for first time credit </li></ul><ul><li>NCVPS teachers open each week’s learning at the beginning of each week; is not a self-paced course </li></ul><ul><li>the semester long course taught in 8 weeks (thus, the word “accelerated”) </li></ul><ul><li>Requires 3 to 4 hours daily </li></ul><ul><li>Requires students to interact daily with the teacher through email </li></ul>

Accelerated or Credit Recovery <ul><li>Credit Recovery courses </li></ul><ul><li>students who have previously taken the course and failed it </li></ul><ul><li>self-paced; students pre-assess at the beginning of each module or unit to determine their prior knowledge. </li></ul><ul><li>If a student has failed one of the ten Credit Recovery courses, students should be enrolled in the CR course rather than the ACC course </li></ul><ul><li>Requires 3 to 4 hours daily </li></ul><ul><li>Requires students to interact daily with the teacher through email and requires some kind of weekly synchronous contact </li></ul>

  20. 20. Credit Recovery Best Practices <ul><li>A lab is open and available for students to work during the week. Some schools open the lab anywhere from 1 to 5 days a week. Some schools require attendance while others leave it flexible. </li></ul><ul><li>If the student is not working in a lab, school contact still makes weekly contact with student. </li></ul><ul><li>School contact knows students' status in terms of working; follows up with students when mastery charts/status forms are sent out weekly. </li></ul>
