We have been discussing, in this week’s forum, the diffusion of innovations model (Rogers, 2003), which is a theory about communication and change, or more specifically, how knowledge needed to change practice is communicated effectively through persuasion, internalized positively in its recipients through decision and implementation, and then confirmed by the individuals by resulting behavior changes. As a DNP leader, you become a driving force in that communication process for the changes that are required in your organization. Therefore, you must be clear about the change itself (innovation), the way it is communicated (diffusion), how well it is timed, and to whom the innovation is targeted. These driving forces need to be understood first when planning a change. As you then plan the change, you focus on getting others to adopt it using the diffusion of innovation theory to guide you as the primary driving force. To overcome this regrets we need to work hard to make sure that we carry out the right decisions and which we are comfortable in.

People tend to do dangerous things when in a group than individually. Persuasion is more successful when the individuals are personally convinced r influenced by an absolute choice. Humans are expected to be active in a given task if they are more involved in the persuasion. Someone with an interest in something is more likely to be persuading over time. Using less effort than that who lacks in Personal Influence. The message and credibility are some of the main factors that affect the rate of influencing persons into something.
In the two-step flow of communication, an individual fundamentally influences the other. The media will be more efficient in eliciting change than any other channel. Its influence is indirect rather than direct. Opinion leaders also play a great role in persuading groups of people. It is out of the persuasion that the public makes a choice based on how convinced they are about these choices.

In this week's reflection report I will discuss technology diffusion, S-Curves and innovation
decision process. I will use the healthcare industry as an example. Our healthcare system is ever
evolving - new technologies, insurance models, and information systems are shaping the system
on a daily basis. Despites these changes and the huge healthcare expenditures (16 of GDP in
America compared to 8 in United Kingdom), Americans are comparatively not any healthier
than citizens in most other developed nations (Merson, Black, & Mills, 2012). The disconnect
between investments in technology and health outcomes is a concern of us all. It makes as
question technology diffusion within the healthcare system: are investments in health system
being spent efficiently? Are consumers really resistant to changes that benefit their health? Or
are there issues with technology diffusion as a practice.
Diffusion is the process by which an innovation is spread through a population. Ironically,
people and institutions, generally, do not like change. Change is viewed as painful, difficult and
times creating uncertainties. Because of this, and for the healthcare industry, huge amounts of
resources are devoted either to promoting innovations (for example, selling the latest drug,
imaging system, medical device etc.) or to preventing innovations from disrupting the status quo.
Although many successful healthcare innovations are aimed at making people healthier, at
relatively smaller increases in costs, IT usage in healthcare has always lagged other industries -
ERH are a good example. Adoption of ERH was slow. Literature on technology diffusion states
that successful implementation is influenced by the compatibility and complexity of the
innovation, organizational context, and the characteristics of the implementation strategy (Cain
M, & Mittman, 2002; Rogers, 1995). People respond to these factors differently resulting in an
S-shaped curve illustration of the adoption process.
The S-curve model shows that any innovation is first adopted by a few people/organizations and
as more use it, and confidence is built around the technology, other will begin to use it. Because
of the inherent uncertainty to new innovations, the decision to adopt an innovation takes time.
However, "once the diffusion reaches a level of critical mass, it proceeds rapidly. Eventually a
point is reached where the population is less likely to adopt the innovation, and spread slows
down. The S-curve implies a hierarchy of adopters, starting with innovators, early adopters, early
majority, late majority and laggards (Rogers, 1995). In other words the S-curve explains the
innovation-decision process: the process through which an individual/organization passes
through from when they gain knowledge of an innovation, to forming an attitude, to the decision
to accept or reject the innovation, .

In everyday life individuals can not overlook other cultures as if it does not matter. Most individuals wish that they all can be alike to avoid the way others may act towards them. Changing for the best is to encourage individuals that it is time for a change for everyone of all cultures throughout the world. A person may encounter cultural diversity everywhere they may go such as hospitals, schools, or stores but to make a difference one must understand culture, act as an alliance against racism, and form organizations for diverse groups to be able to stand together (ctb.ku.edu, 2017). The societal issue selected for the paper above would be drug abuse. Drug abuse has been a social issue affecting the masses over time. Young people tend to focus more on using these harmful drugs as the various surveys shows. Drug abuse is simply the habit of taking in substances that are harmful to the normal functioning of the body. The most commonly abused drugs would be alcohol and marijuana (Jones, Paulozzi, & Mack, 2014). The personal values associated with this societal issue would be self-awareness, self-respect and sobriety. Self-awareness is the state of acknowledging of oneself and taking care of oneself. Self-respect is acting with honor for oneself while sobriety is the state of staying sober for one’s best interest.How upholding these values might contribute to creating a society that supports the mental health and welfare of its members, remembering the broad conceptualization of mental health and human rights

important factors that differentiate a well implemented change and a bad
implemented change are quality, quantity and adequacy of disclosure

Introduction
Understanding the need for change implies, moreover, that further knowledge
management processes with older structures in the new conditions lead inevitably,
sooner or later, in situations critical to the organization.
Organizations are people within those organizations. People are giving the
identity of organizations. We tried to change organization, by changing structures and
processes, but in fact people had to change. With people replacement, will spend the
necessary changes in structures process.
“In successful change initiatives, the first step is to make sure that a sufficient
number of people acting fast enough - by adopting that strong behavior, which show
interest in opportunities and problems, which gives energy fellow, who wants to say:
“Let's do it”.
People engage in behavior change only when faced with a need for change. If
there is an adequate degree of necessity, a change of scale may come to look like
pushing a huge boulder to the top of a high mountain”26.
Resistance to change is an evasion behavior, fear and uncertainty, manifested in
organizational change, which occurs when an individual is not aware of clear objectives
and reasons for the transformation and when it feels threatened its status and financial
rewards.
Communication is a way of reducing resistance to change. Resistance may be
reduced by communicating with employees, helping them understand the need for
change. This method is effective when the main cause of resistance is lack of
information of individuals in the change process.
A real communication is not just a data transfer. We need to show people

Abstract: Change is one of the "constants" of our world, and is universal;
in fact is a natural process. Therefore, the change might be seen as a
necessity, and moreover, as a process with potential of adaptation and
development for each person, organization, society, and one of the most
important factors that differentiate a well implemented change and a bad
implemented change are quality, quantity and adequacy of disclosure
made.

Introduction
Understanding the need for change implies, moreover, that further knowledge
management processes with older structures in the new conditions lead inevitably,
sooner or later, in situations critical to the organization.
Organizations are people within those organizations. People are giving the
identity of organizations. We tried to change organization, by changing structures and
processes, but in fact people had to change. With people replacement, will spend the
necessary changes in structures process.
“In successful change initiatives, the first step is to make sure that a sufficient
number of people acting fast enough - by adopting that strong behavior, which show
interest in opportunities and problems, which gives energy fellow, who wants to say:
“Let's do it”.
People engage in behavior change only when faced with a need for change. If
there is an adequate degree of necessity, a change of scale may come to look like
pushing a huge boulder to the top of a high mountain”26.
Resistance to change is an evasion behavior, fear and uncertainty, manifested in
organizational change, which occurs when an individual is not aware of clear objectives
and reasons for the transformation and when it feels threatened its status and financial
rewards.
Communication is a way of reducing resistance to change. Resistance may be
reduced by communicating with employees, helping them understand the need for
change. This method is effective when the main cause of resistance is lack of
information of individuals in the change process.
A real communication is not just a data transfer. We need to show people

Don is 14 and lives in the inner-city of Gary, Indiana. Don has no father and his mother is a crack addict. Don lives by himself for long periods of time. In the past Don was arrested for stealing food from a local bakery. Don admitted to the theft, but noted he hadn’t eaten in two days. Don was removed from home – but was returned to his mother one year later. Don was arrested for possession of crack cocaine – it was believed he was selling.
Darlene is 12 and lives in the suburbs with her mother, step-father and new baby sister. Darlene has been in juvenile court a number of times in the past year for being a runaway. She was petitioned last month by her step-father for being incorrigible. Darlene refused to follow the family rules and is defiant to her step-father. Darlene is very intelligent and is openly disrespectful to her mother and step-father.
Stephen Holmes is 16 and lives in Noblesville. His father is a salesman and his mother is an executive with General Advertising Inc. Stephen has a prior record for larceny. Last month Stephen got into a fight with his brother who is 17. After the fight was over Stephen took his father’s gun and shot his brother in the head instantly killing him.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

We have been discussing, in this week’s forum, the diffusion of innovations model (Rogers, 2003), which is a theory about communication and change, or more specifically, how knowledge needed to change practice is communicated effectively through persuasion, internalized positively in its recipients through decision and implementation, and then confirmed by the individuals by resulting behavior changes. As a DNP leader, you become a driving force in that communication process for the changes that are required in your organization. Therefore, you must be clear about the change itself (innovation), the way it is communicated (diffusion), how well it is timed, and to whom the innovation is targeted. These driving forces need to be understood first when planning a change. As you then plan the change, you focus on getting others to adopt it using the diffusion of innovation theory to guide you as the primary driving force. Remember that the communication channels you use and their effectiveness become critical factors in diffusing innovation. What individual stages would people go through according to the theory?
