Genre It’sa horror-comedy
Geneticconventions The geneticconventionsthatIgatheredfromzombielandare:
 A tightcommunityof protagonists
 Isolation
 Apocalypticworld(smoke,dust,dirty,trash)
 Contrastbetweenslow andfastediting
 Kineticcamerasforfightscenes
 Abandonedareas
 Urban but desertedlocations
 Want to survive
Representations Afterwatchingzombieland Igetthe impressionthatthere isahidden
morale to the film, Ithinkthatthe message of whenwe worktogetherwe
can do anythingisdefiantlyamessage thatIgatheredfromzombieland.I
believethisasthe groupof protagonistsinthe filmthatworktogetherto
survive the zombie apocalypse againstseeminglyimpossibleoddsshiwsthe
importance of teamwork.
Editing The openingsequence usessoundeffectivelytostartle the audience at
timesduringthe openingsequence,suchasinthe bathroomscene and
whenthe zombie jumpsoutatthe start. These sort of loud, sharpsounds
are common of the horror genre andtheirpurpose istomake the audience
jump. There are additional soundtracksplayinginthe background
throughoutthe openingsequence whichsoundstrange,suchasat the very
start whatsoundslike the beginningof the Americannational anthemon

veryrelevanttoa movie basedaroundthe livingdead.Allmusicandsounds
usedwithinthe openingsequence are eitherlow-pitchtonesorhigh-pitch,
nothingevernormal.Thisisusual of the horror genre,aslow-pitchtones
are designedtocause discomfortandbuildtensionwhilehigh-pitchtones

Sound Most shotsin the openingare continuityeditedtogethertomake itseem
