Such a scenario calls for a change of perspective for the way institutes operates. The session will provide the institutes under NARS and others an overview on how business incubators help in not just technology transfer but also in generating revenues, protection of IPR, client interfacing and meeting their requirements and how agriculture can be viewed as a business entity.

Ltd., is a research & development company operating in the area of development of hybrid seeds in • Major field crops like corn, cotton, rice, millet and • Vegetables like tomato, okra, brinjal, etc.• Bioseed is part of DSCL group having major interest in Agri-sector, including fertilizers, sugar, agri-retail and hybrid seeds.• The biotechnology research group of Bioseed started its journey from inception at Agribusiness Incubator @ ICRISAT, Hyderabad.• We received tremendous support from the incubator in starting our research programs focusing on development and application of GM and non-GM crop improvement technologies.

Technology Business Incubation • ABI @ ICRISAT through their partner at ABD Cell, TNAU identified and publicized various technologies at TNAU. • Helped us in getting more details to make a informed choice • Brought the Scientist and Bioseed to discuss the technology, frame a collaborative research project, work out financials, etc. • ABI & ABD handled all the administrative procedures between TNAU and Bioseed. • Research project is moving from conceptual stage to implementation with due respect to agreed timelines and milestones. • Early success with the testing of technology has heightened confidence of partners, and level of enthusiasm is high
