Incremental GIS Data Incorporation into Centralized
Geo-database
ABHISHEK
Geo-Spatial Division, HCL
1
FEEDER SANITIZATION ACTIVITY
Input Required:
 DT wise hard copies of Maps
 Consumer Data Collection Format
Activity:
 Asset Verification
 Consumer Collection in predefined format
 Daily Progress Reporting
2
FEEDER SANITIZATION ACTIVITY
Methodology:
 First team will visit on field to verify & identify new assets as per current
ground condition versus provided DT wise maps
 Coding of newly/bifurcated assets on ground using permanent marker &
same coding on the provided maps
 Second team will count number of service lines connected to pole
 Collection of door to door consumers details in predefined format
3
FEEDER SANITIZATION ACTIVITY
Coding Technique:
 Suppose we have 3 new poles between 2 identified poles
 Suppose we have n number of poles at end of the earlier identified network

Incremental GIS Data Incorporation into Centralized Geo-database
Objective of this programme is to update and maintain centralized geo-
database by implementing periodical updates in the system through a process
driven mechanism so that higher objectives of already running RAPDRP
programme such as up to date AT&C Loss Report Generation, GIS Based
Network Analysis, DT wise SBM billing, Asset management etc can be met.
SCOPE OF WORK:
1. Going Forward Activity
2. One time activity (Current Delta Gap)
6
SCOPE OF WORK
Going Forward Activity: This includes incorporation of field changes in
electrical network in terms of assets and consumers along with relevant
network to centralized geo database. Activity will be restricted to
incorporation of new network / bifurcated network after the project
commencement. HCL will add and update the GIS data of new networks,
bifurcated networks and will geo-tag newly recorded consumers as per the
necessary information collected from utility on regular basis.
One time activity (Current Delta Gap): During execution of this
activity, existing electrical network assets available in current geo-database
will be updated as per present ground scenario. This will be one time
exercise in order to make the network data up-to-date.
7
METHODOLOGY: GOING FORWARD ACTIVITY
 Field survey will be conducted for the newly augmented network assets and
newly recorded consumers after the date of commencement of the project.
 All new consumers will be tagged in GIS up to DTR/ pole level.
 Utility will verify the updated data through GIS application and confirm HCL
via e-mail and after which the data will be made available on production.
 GIS Production data will be disseminated and synchronized with other
modules to generate accurate AT&C losses report.
 In field asset painting would be done only for below cases:-
- Newly augmented asset networks
- On existing assets of which paint codes are not visible in field.
8
METHODOLOGY: ONE TIME ACTIVITY
 Survey for validation will be done using hard copy maps to identify the gaps.
 Identified gaps (Internal bifurcation/Newly Augmented Network)will be
analyzed to capture required information of the change network assets from
field.
 The validated survey data will be used as an input for creating GIS data in
the system.
 The GIS data created in the system will be checked thoroughly through
internal QC/QA processes to meet the business requirements.
 The validated GIS data will be posted into centralized geo-database and it
will be disseminated to other modules for synchronization and AT&C loss
report generation
9
DELIVERABLES
 All the data related deliverables will be submitted in the form of softcopy
 Up-to-date network data mapped in GIS for newly augmented and non-
augmented assets/networks.
 Incremental new consumer’s data mapped in GIS (w.r.t augmented and non-
augmented assets/networks).
 Mapping of re-aligned consumer’s in GIS as per ground condition.
 In field asset painting would be done only for below cases:-
– Newly augmented asset networks
– On existing assets of which paint codes are not visible in field.
