  2. 2. What Is An Input Device. <ul><li>Entering data or instructions into a computer is called input. Therefore, an input device is a device which enters data or instructions into a computer. </li></ul><ul><li>Input devices are necessary to convert data into a form which can be understood by computers. </li></ul><ul><li>Some input devices are: </li></ul>

  4. 4. The Mouse <ul><li>This input device controls the cursor on the computer screen. It has two or three buttons and a cable connecting it to the computer. It is quite easy to operate a mouse, the user simply moves the cursor along the table. Once the cursor is at the desired location, the user can give instructions to the computer by clicking the button. </li></ul>
  5. 5. The Keyboard <ul><li>Keyboards come in different shapes and sizes depending on the type of brand. They are similar to typewriters. In normal usage, the keyboard is used to type text and numbers into a word processor, text editor or other program. In a modern computer, the interpretation of key presses is generally left to the software. A computer keyboard distinguishes each physical key from every other and reports all key presses to the controlling software.  A keyboard is also used to give commands to the operating system of a computer </li></ul>

The Scanner <ul><li>  scanner —is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. </li></ul><ul><li>There are different types of scanners such as: </li></ul><ul><li>Drum Scanner </li></ul><ul><li>Flat bed Scanner </li></ul><ul><li>Smartphone scanner apps </li></ul><ul><li>Desktop digital camera scanner </li></ul>
