Racial Stacking in Football
Social Constructs Behind Racial Stacking and Stereotypes in Football
Sport as an institution has seen many of its records and barriers shattered over its countless years of
existence. For instance, sport has seen Jackie Robinson break the color barrier in Major League
Baseball, and Billie Jean King defeat former champion Bobby Riggs in "The battle of the sexes".
One barrier that still exists in sports today is racial stacking and stereotyping. The social
phenomenon of racial stacking and stereotyping within the institution of sport has profoundly
hindered the development and participation of particular races in different dimensions of sport.
Racial stacking is a term coined by sociologists which refers to the over or under representation ...

Speculations arose as to Owens having an extra bone in his leg, or elongated bones, all of which
were proven to be false. Scientist found that biology was not a determinant in an individual's ability
to excel in sports; rather dedication, determination, and training are more influential factors
(Dyreson, 2008).
One socioligical explanation as to why African Americans excel in athletics is because it is viewed
as a way of upward social and financial mobility. Being one of the world's largest institutions, sports
generate billions of dollars in revenue each year. Specifically, the National Football League
generates six billion dollars in revenue a year (Sports Industry Overview, 2009). The life of an NFL
player is filled with fame, fortune and limitless opportunites, something that the majority of young
children dream about. The reason we see more African Americans succeeding in sports is because
they have limited resources and opportunities for upward social mobility elsewhere. With the
poverty rate among African Americans so high (24.7 %) they often do not have the resources to
excel in education so instead they look to sports as a way of socio–economic advancement (Bureau,
Poverty, 2009). Sports sociologist Harry Edwards defines this concept of black youth using sports as
a way of social mobility as "blind faith". Edwards explains three reasons as to why black families

Football South Essay
During the last few years, the AFC South has solidified itself as one of the weakest divisions in the
NFL. In the past two seasons alone, a 9–7 record has proven good enough to clinch the AFC South
title, and the division hasn't seen a Wild Card qualifier since the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. Despite
a usually competitive division race, the chase for AFC South supremacy hasn't necessarily translated
into interesting football.
Last season, the Houston Texans managed to win the AFC South's first playoff game since the 2014
Indianapolis Colts, thanks to a favorable matchup against an Oakland Raiders team forced to start
third–string rookie quarterback Connor Cook because of injuries. But of late, the division winner
has typically seen a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scenario 2: O'Brien gives Watson the keys to the offense, and the rookie consistently develops and
improves throughout the season.
Scenario 3: Watson starts, but struggles or gets injured and the Texans are forced to replace him.
Although the Texans have made the playoffs the past two seasons, despite any real semblance of an
NFL–caliber quarterback, their division rivals have improved enough to overtake them atop the
division if their offense continues to prove inept. Therefore, only in Scenario 2 will the Texans reach
the playoffs for a third straight season.
Indianapolis Colts
It's easy to sympathize with Colts fans for the pain and misery they had to endure under former
general manager Ryan Grigson. However, after years of injuries, draft mismanagement and free
agent busts, Colts fans can finally move on with the hiring of new general manager Chris Ballard.
Despite Grigson's best efforts as general manager from 2012–2016, Ballard still has plenty of pieces
to work with offensively, as Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton and age–defying running back Frank Gore
are still on the roster. If the Colts can protect Luck for more than four seconds on drop backs, which
hasn't necessarily been the case, the trio will assuredly produce results.
Defensively, Ballard and defensive coordinator Ted Monachino have a much taller task ahead

What Is Josh Sounder Essay
Josh Bailey was drafted with the 9th pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft. Crazy to think that this
coming June, it will be 10 years since that moment. Looking back to that time, it wasn't exactly an
ideally situation. The islanders had the 5th overall pick going into that draft. They would trade that
to the leafs and swipe first round picks. The isles would move back to the 7th pick which was then
moved to Nashville and they would end up picking Bailey with the 9th overall pick.
10 years after there are still a lot of people who just don't like having Bailey on the team. A bunch of
different reasons behind that. The main reason is if you look back At the 2008 draft a lot big time
players that play today we're drafted after him. You can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of people just wanted him gone from the team. Now he is the guy who people just can't decide
on. He is playing way to well to hate this season and it's time to consider him an elite and valuable
part of the New York Islanders.
Coming off a career season of 56 points, Bailey is off to a hot start in the 2017–2018 season.
Through 17 games, he currently has 18 points, which puts him on an 87–point pace for this season.
Last season, he was placed on a line with John Tavares and Andres Lee and that line worked
wonders. With the addition of Jordan Eberle this season, that bumped Bailey off the top line. After
about 7 games, coach Weight decided to put the line back together. Bailey, despite having a strong
start to the season, didn't miss a beat rejoining his line mates from last season.
It's also hard to not root for a guy who is such a good person off the ice. Just as @tomlofaso329 of
the Blue and Orange army said "He's routinely progressed since we drafted him. He's a class act on
and off the ice, and one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure of meeting. So, happy he's been
lighting it up the last few years he's worked so hard for it and deserves it." No matter what the
outcome of the game, no matter how his night was, Bailey was one of the few guys who would
always stop by the ramp at the coliseum and come out and sign autographs and take pictures with
the fans. He has a lot of loyal fans that have enjoyed watching him play since the beginning. The

Basketball Game In Basketball
On April 7th, 2008 an instant classic of a basketball game was played between Bill Self's Kansas
Jayhawks and John Calipari's Memphis Tigers. It was the national Championship between two
power–house number one seeded teams. The Tigers seemed to have the game locked up, with just
over two minutes left they had a 9–point lead over the Jayhawks. Out of nowhere Kansas caught fire
to produce an epic comeback. With 2 seconds left Mario Chalmers, the dead–eye Jayhawk point
guard, hit a quick catch and shoot three–pointer to tie the game at 65. The Jayhawks went on to win
the game in overtime, 75–68, in what would become not only KU's first championship in twenty
years, but would also go down as one of the greatest championship games in college basketball
history. The 2007–08 team will be remembered for the win and, more importantly, for "Mario's
Miracle", the name given to Mario Chalmers' game tying shot. However, the Jayhawks had
extensive success throughout the whole season that brought them to that point. The season was
highlighted by a deadly accurate, high scoring offense that was fueled by a suffocating defense that
swarmed at every opportunity to take the ball away, and the powerful showing in the tournament
games leading up to the epic conclusion.
Led by junior guard Brandon Rush at 13.3 points per game, Kansas finished the regular season
ranked tenth in the nation for points per game at 81.5. Four of their seven–man rotation averaged ten
or more points per game. The 'Hawks

Pittsburgh Pirates: A Huge Day In The NFL
July 8, 1933 was a huge day in the NFL. Arthur Rooney founded the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates
were a member of the eastern division of the 10– team NFL. Their playing field was called Forbes
Field. This stadium was shared with Pittsburgh's baseball team. The Pirates played their first game
against the New York Giants on September 20, 1933, losing 23–2. All throughout the 1930's, the
Pirates did not play very good. But in 1938 they made history by signing Byron White, a future U.S.
Supreme Court justice. But a season later he left the Pirates to play on the Detroit Lions. Just before
1940, the Pirates remained themselves the Steelers. Soon WWII came. Pittsburgh experienced major
player shortages. So in 1943, the Steelers and Eagles combined to form the Steagles. Then again
they combined with the Chicago Cardinals to make the team Card–Pitt, or as the public would call
it– The Carpets. The team did terrible, and finished the season with a record of 0–10. In 1947, the
Steelers made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. They lost early in the playoffs,

He was drafted by the Chicago Bears and was the 42nd pick from Abilene Christian University. This
made Manning the first non–Division I player to be selected in 2006. He was also the second
highest pick in the history of Abilene Christian University's football program, with Johnny Perkins
being the highest pick in 1977.
Halfway through the 2008 season, Manning assumed Devin Hester's duties as Chicago's kick
returner. In December 2008, Manning returned an 83–yard kickoff for a touchdown. This marked
the Chicago's first regular season opening kickoff returned for a completed touchdown since 1972.
One week before Manning scored this touchdown, he intercepted Jaguar quarterback David
Garrard's opening pass, and returned it to Jacksonville's 5–yard line.
Throughout the 2008 season, Manning led the league in number of 30 plus yard returns and return
average, despite only playing half of the season. Although he was Chicago's starting nickelback in
2008, he successfully competed for starting free safety over Craig Steltz, Kevin Payne, Josh

Fantasy Sports And Its Effect On The National Football League
Abstract
The widespread growth of fantasy sports into a multi–billion dollar industry has made it an
important component of the sports industry, mainly the NFL. All Sports leagues must acknowledge
the impact that fantasy sport has on the way its participants consume their sport. This research paper
examines the conception of fantasy sports and explains it effects on the National Football league.
Consumer involvement with fantasy sports leads to a higher consumption of the NFL products and
services.

explanation on the development of fantasy sport and its adoption by the National Football league
(NFL). The paper will also focus on the concept of fantasy football considered the most popular
fantasy sport, due to the high participation rating, and its effects on the NFL and the various sport
consumers. A brief examination of the increase in consumer loyalty and brand identification as a
result of fantasy football participation as well as the effect of overall consumption of the NFL will
be provided in the following research.

College Basketball Statistics And Predict The Nba Success...
Model using college basketball statistics to predict the NBA success Problem statement The current
NBA draft system is adapted since 1993 to improve the league's competitive balance. A NBA
franchise that has the worst record previous year will have the highest 25% chance to win the No.1
pick in the next NBA draft (Price, 2015). Drafting a valuable player will have the profound effects
on the success of a NBA team for the following reasons. Firstly, a NBA franchise only needs to pay
its rookie with the small–scale money, which ranges from $1 million to $5 million per season based
on rookie's draft position. Secondly, under the current collective bargaining agreement that allows a
player to receive the maximum 5–year–long contract, a NBA team can have its drafted player for at
least 9 years long if the player's performance meets the team's expectation. After the 4–year–long
rookie contract expires, a NBA team will have the opportunity to keep its drafted player by offering
him a qualifying offer or matching the contracts from other teams. However, many NBA teams have
been criticized to not be able to identify the valuable players in the draft. For instance, the Cleveland
Cavaliers (CLE) selected Anthony Bennett with its No.1 pick in the 2013 NBA draft. Only after 1–
year stay with CLE, he was traded to Minnesota Timberwolves (MIN) and then waived by MIN.
Consider the fact that the draft picks become increasingly valuable, a NBA franchise has to come up
with a better draft

Is the NFL Combine Necessary?
There is a considerable amount of controversy within the NFL whether or not the NFL combine is
necessary for future athletes coming out of college to perform in or not. This competition between
athletes does not predict their professional future on a large scale. It only gives NFL teams, scouts
an inside look on certain athletes that may enhance their team. After the combine is finished, it is
never looked at again by the player's team scouts. The original use of the combine is to obtain all of
the medical exams of the players taken at this event. The workouts and test are just a bonus for NFL
team representatives to take a look at the players themselves. When an athlete enters into the NFL
(National Football League) they realize their lives change in different ways. They do not consider
work boring it is more like a hobby to the athletes. The roles that athletes play in fans lives predicts
the way people look at them. NFL athletes play as major role models in fans outlook on life. You
notice people wanting to look like them, talk like them, and even act like them. Leadership roles are
put in the paths of people as a result of these major athletes posing as leaders in everyday life. Just
like anything else though there is a negative side to it. People aren't only experiencing the amazing
things players do on the field, but off the field can be another story. Negative things could happen
off the field and you notice some teenagers or kids wanting

Ben Roethlisberger 35: A Career In Early American Football
The career of Ben Roethlisberger 35, has been a journey to say the least. He entered the league out
of Miami, OH as the eleventh pick in the 2004 NFL draft. He was not lauded like the two
quarterbacks drafted before him. Eli Manning 36, who was drafted with the first overall pick by the
San Diego Chargers, but traded to the New York Giants. The Giants who have won two super bowls
with Manning one in 2008 and the other in 2012 won't complain at all for the small amount they had
to trade to acquire Manning. They traded Phillip Rivers 35, who was drafted with the fourth overall
pick that same year, a third–round pick in 2004 which turned into Nate Kaeding, a 2005 first
rounded pick which turned into Shawne Merriman, and a 2005 fifth round pick ... Show more

Merriman in his career ended up going to three pro bowls. The knock–on Merriman is he had a
steroid suspension for the first four games of his second season and only played for five years for
the chargers having been released in 2010 due to injuries and lack of production, eventually retiring
after playing for two more years with the Bills. Thus, leaving Phillip Rivers who still plays great to
this day even in his old age as really the only great asset who the Chargers got for Manning. This
will be known though as a trade the Giants won as they have won two super bowls to the Chargers

Which brings us to Big Ben Roethlisberger who has been in the public spotlight throughout his
career for good and bad. Let's start with the good. In his rookie year, Big Ben ended up playing
fifteen games in total with two of those game in the postseason starting his second game of the
season taking over for Tommy Maddox and finishing the season with 2621 yards passing, with

acquisition David Amerson stepped up took one of the starting jobs at corner. Once he was moved

Raiders still have many decisions to make. They lost Charles Woodson, have to decide on whether

Right Guard:
The major weakness of the Raiders offensive line is at right guard. The Raiders may also look to fill
this position through the draft, but should be open to a veteran at a bargain price to fill in for the
short term. In addition, the raiders may need a new left tackle if they decide to let veteran Donald
Penn go.
Top Players to Land:
Alex Boone:
He is a solid player for the niners and could be a nice addition for the Raiders. Not a necessary
position of need because I believe Reggie could find a solid piece in the mid rounds of the draft.
Donald Penn:
Raiders better have a plan to sign an elite tackle if they decide to let Donald Penn leave. It would be
an utter disaster if they let him go and can't bring in the target they want. Russel Okung and Andre
Smith are names that come up that would be an upgrade over Penn, but there are not very many
upgrades available.

Book Summary: Teammates By Tiki And Barber
Title: Teammates By: Tiki and Barber
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Key vocabulary: Fumble, squirming, habit, confidence, scrimmage
Suggested Grade Level: 2.9 (Scholastic); Lexile 560L
Suggested use: I would use this book as a full class read aloud. Specifically, I would use this book to
hit three main points. First, this would be a good book to connect to Common Core State Standards
surrounding topics such as describing the "traits, motivations or feelings" of characters and "how
their actions contribute to the sequence of events" (as in CCSS.ELA–LITERACY.RL.3.3). Second,
this book might be more engaging to students whose interests are not always hit by other books; this
tale of two African American football players would hopefully appeal ... Show more content on

Based off of evidence from the text, how do you think that Tiki feels after his classmates got up and
left without talking? What do you think Tiki might do next based off of the way he feels? Do you
think Tiki might act in a different way if his teammates had stayed to talk to him?"
Why do you think the brothers let Paco join their secret Morning Practice Club? What do you think
the brothers valued more – working together in secret or working hard to win. Why do you think
that?
It seems like Tiki and Ronde's hard work payed off. Do you think that Tiki could have been able to
win the game for his team if he had only practiced by himself? Do you think it is important to work
with other people to stay motivated to work hard, or do you think working hard by yourself is
enough? Why?"
Scripted Think–Aloud: "If you're not practicing the right way, you're just practicing bad habits? I

NFL Quarterback Summary
This piece looks to focuses solely on the Quarterback position and how the Wonderlic influences
draft decisions as well as the test's ability to predict NFL performance. The study was done based on
the draft classes of 1999–2008. This piece talks about how much emphasis is put on the selection
process in the NFL draft. As a result of this every little measurement matters, including the
Wonderlic Test. This piece talks about how leading up to the draft, each athlete has to prove their
worth because the smallest drop in the draft can have a big monetary affect. In the NFL players are
so close in talent that mental and psychological abilities could be the characteristic that gives an
athlete an edge over another. The reason this test can be looked at as being affective is because if a
player is not mentally strong then they maybe unmotivated and have issues off the field that affect
their on the field play (Welter, 2013, p. 1). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

years 1999–2008. Because the data collected is based on statistic that were already taken it is not a

New York Islanders Case Study
Islanders Open Training Camp Under Cloudy Skies
The summer is over. Fall has arrived and with it, the return of the National Hockey League. Training
camps around the league will all be opening for business, with the first on–ice sessions slated to
begin Friday morning.
For the New York Islanders, it seems every year lately has been 'make or break', for a variety of
reasons. This year, however, the term might never be more accurate as the team looks to re–sign
their franchise captain, finally bring some closure to a long, drawn out arena drama and return to the
playoffs. The results of those three factors, each under their own cloud of uncertainty, could also
decide the future fate of long tenured general manager, Garth Snow, who seems to ... Show more

As of today, only Casey Bailey, a 6–3, 26–year old wing who spent last year in the Ottawa
organization, is coming in on a PTO, presumably for depth on the Sound Tigers roster.
Defense
What Snow did for Hamonic was admirable, and showed loyalty, first and foremost, to the person
rather than the player. But it does leave the Islanders defense, one that wasn't all that good last year,
with more questions than answers. Johnny Boychuk, coming off a rebound season, and Nick Leddy,
the only true transitional threat, are back and that's an excellent start. It's after that it begins to get
hazy.
How does deHaan, coming off his best season as a pro, fare with the pressures of a contract
looming? Can Adam Pelech and Pulock take the required next steps and become game in and game

NFL Scouting Combine Case Study
Run Like Lightning and Win $1 Million The NFL Scouting Combine is an invitation–only talent
showcase for potentially high–ranking draft picks in the next year's NFL draft. The event is a week–

at the Combine can expect their draft rank to go up. Those that don't fare so well may end up not
even getting drafted. Even though the tests are not truly a showing of how a player will fare in the

Tom Brady Leadership Style
Driven by resilience, competitiveness, and adversity Tom Brady broke the mold of the typical QB

Even if you are down twenty–eight to three in the third quarter of the super bowl, three to one in the

Challenges Facing Detroit Lions' Public Relations Operations
The Detroit Lions' Public Relations Challenges For the last decade, the Detroit Lions have struggled
both in terms of on–field performance and in terms of their public appeal in the recession–blighted
Michigan region. This futility peaked in 2008, when the Lions became the first team in NFL history
to lose all 16 regular season contests. However, as per the strategy of the National Football League's
college draft formula, a series of favorable drafts have allowed the Detroit Lions to enter into a
place of contention. Indeed, with the additions of 2009 #1 overall draft pick, star quarterback Matt
Stafford and 2010 #2 overall pick, star defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh, the Detroit Lions would
make the 2011 playoffs. It was the franchise's first such berth in 12 years and would mark its first
cause for optimism in several generations of player. However, this accomplishment is today
overshadowed by the array of Public Relations (PR) challenges before the Detroit Lions. For an
organization enduring a considerable uphill climb in order to gain appeal and interest with its fans,
the personnel issues which seem to follow many of its players may well haunt the organization
going forward. A host of incidences, some on the field but most off the field, have threatened the
team's ability to capitalize on its immediate success as the 2012 season fast approaches. And in light
of the 24/7 nature of media today, such incidences can have a determinedly negative impact on team

Adam Pelech In The NHL Draft
The NHL draft, once beyond the second round, can be likened to shooting fish in a barrel, as the
saying goes. There is no clear cut way of determining what the end result of a players potential
really will be once he has gone through the rigors of your organization's development plan. And
that's not to say the development plan is all that shapes the player. There are many other intangibles
and personal factors that come into play as well, ultimately separating the Shea Weber's from the
Michael Del Zotto's (sorry Micheal, just for comparison sake).

Dukkha
Dukkha has many ways of being expressed, from a satisfaction standpoint dukkha can be good or

The Detroit Lions
This won't be the most popular subject but here goes nothing... it's time to trade Calvin Johnson.
Before you start with the name calling and the bashing of my intellect, just hear me out and be
open–minded for a second. Try to think unemotionally and recognize what is best for the future of
the Detroit Lions. There are far too many reasons to ship out our future Hall–of–famer and not
enough logical ones to keep him. Here are five explanations of why we should deal Megatron. 1.
Calvin isn't getting any younger and our window to win with him is all but closed. We are not going
anywhere this year and there is no point to exacerbate his attrition. His body has plenty of wear and
tear and there's a limited amount of time before Calvin's stock precipitously declines. It has been
evident in recent weeks that his speed and agility has diminished. Tackles that he used to break and
defenders he used to make miss are becoming a thing of the past. He is still fast for his massive
frame, but no where near the 4.35 speed that used to take slants and posts to the house. Calvin just
had a dominant performance against a weak and negligent Chicago Bears' defense. This week would
make for a perfect time to sell high. We should cash in before his value is completely squandered
away. The thread is thin on Calvin's tires and it's just a matter of time before another nagging injury
resurfaces. 2. Another problematic facet is Calvin's price tag. Megatron still makes an average of
more than two

Argumentative : Why You Should Be A Saints Fan
Why you should be a Saints fan Let's go back in time to the 2009–2010 NFL season. The New
Orlean Saints have just finished all of their preseason games and are looking toward the regular
season. After a very mediocre 8–8 season in 2008, everybody is writing off the saints. Although to
some significant off season trades and very average draft, they were predicted a slightly above
average 10–6 season. Playoff contenders for sure, but nobody even thought about super bowl
winners. The team was led by Drew Brees. One of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, but with an

Somehow after a terrible 0–2 start and no chance for playoff or even super bowl contending. The
saints have now gone on a 8 game win streak to have a very dominant NFC south lead and one of
the best records in the NFL behind the Eagles 9–1 record. So once again, what happened? What
Changed? Once again this all happened because of two dominant running backs in Mark Ingram and
Alvin Kamara, and also because they finally have an above average defense. Alvin Kamara is in the
running to win offensive rookie of the year and cornerback marshon lattimore is in the running to
win defensive rookie of the year. The saints now have one of best offensive and defensive players in
the entire league. Some people would even call the defense good. Something saints fans haven't
heard since 2009. Back when the saints won the superbowl. The saints of course still have one of the
best offenses in the entire league. Drew Brees is in the running to be the MVP of the entire league.
Hes ranked 3rd in total passing yards thrown, and he's played an entire week less than the other two
leading quarterbacks (NFL.com) . To put things in perspective the saints in 2009 were ranked 1st in

One writer puts it like this, "The Chicago Bears quarterback, while crazy–talented, has never lived
up to the hype surrounding him, and that – combined with the mopey attitude fans see – has made
him incredibly easy to hate" (International Business Times). I believe he has done the best possible
job that he can with the support that has been placed around him. I read a lot of articles on this guy,
and a lot of comments about the articles are about him and how it's all his fault that the Bears have
not had success since he came to Chicago. Going into his seventh season with the Chicago Bears,
Jay Cutler holds every Bear record for passing, except for touchdowns. He only needs seven more
touchdowns to hold that record also (The Football Database).
The Bears organization spent a lot to get him, but failed to surround him with talent to be the
franchise quarterback they wanted him to be. For example, as a quarterback he needs decent to good
protection from his offensive line. According to ProFootballFocus, he's had a mediocre to terrible
pass blocking offensive line. "Since he came to the Bears in 2009, his offensive line has a PFF score
of –315.9. Compare those numbers to what his main divisional rival, Aaron Rodgers, has
experienced (+93.7 PFF pass block grade) during the same time–frame, and you can see how short–

stick. One of the premier puck–moving defenders in the QMJHL, Chabot has quietly gone
about his business and improved in each consecutive season in the league. The Ottawa
Senators have to be pleased, as the 18th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft is
heating up and climbing up the scoring charts.

Nick Ritchie was a force last year in the OHL, and has certainly carried over some of
those skills to the AHL. Ritchie, more known for being a power forward who uses his
6 '2", 225–pound frame to drive the net, recently came up with a creative goal where
he put the train in reverse and got a little lucky on the way to scoring his eighth
goal of the year.

Plain Gifford Research Paper
Plain Gifford, a Hall of Fame football player for the New York Giants and an unbelievable
supporter, kicked the bucket Sunday at his Connecticut home of characteristic causes, his family
declared. He was only seven days short of his 85th birthday. Gifford is made due, among others, by
his wife, TV character Kathy Lee Gifford. His family said in an announcement: "We celebrate in the
phenomenal life he was favored to live, and we feel thankful and favored to have been cherished by
such an astounding person." Gifford was a No. 1 draft pick by the Giants in 1952 and appreciated a
flexible vocation with New York, playing both offense and protection. He was named NFL Player of
the Year in 1956 and named to seven Pro Bowls for three distinct positions – guarded back, halfback
and flanker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Straight to the point's ability and charm on the field and reporting in real time were vital
components in the development and notoriety of the cutting edge NFL." In spite of the fact that
Gifford was the centerpiece of a Giants offense that went to five NFL title amusements in the 1950s
and '60s, he encountered highs and lows as a NFL player. Gifford bungled twice ahead of schedule
in the 1958 NFL title diversion, both of which prompted Baltimore Colts touchdowns, and later
missed the mark on a basic third down. The Colts inevitably won 23–17 in the alliance's first
additional time diversion. The exciting completion helped promote the NFL and was named "The
Greatest Game Ever Played," albeit not by Gifford. "Not my most prominent amusement," Gifford
told the AP in 2008. "I bungled going out (of the end zone) and I mishandled going

Deshaun Watson Research Paper
Rookie quarterbacks are notoriously not the best idea as the primary option on a fantasy football
team. Sometimes even the best aren't worth much more than an occasional streaming option from
one week to the next. Another theory is to roll the dice and see if a rookie with immense future
potential, lies around on the waiver wire long enough for you to find him an empty roster spot. Then
of course, there is also the conundrum of holding a future franchise QB as a keeper. Six
quarterbacks were selected in the first three round of this year's NFL draft, but one in particular
jumps off the board as ultra–intriguing. When scouts consider raw talent, Deshaun Watson may not
fall into the Brady category of prototypical signal callers. However, pedigree is a different story all
together. Here is why Deshaun Watson is worthy of a draft flier, since he may end up being the
starting quarterback in Houston, sooner than some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It's rare for a rookie quarterback to end up as the starter during their inaugural season let alone have
any type of success worthy of making a fantasy team. However, trends change and as evidence,
seven out of the ten best rookie QB performances have happened since 2008. Not hard to use last
year's record breaking states of Dak Prescott to make a case for drafting a rookie QB. But, is
Deshaun Watson capable of duplicating anything close to the numbers Prescott amassed, if he even
gets to start in Houston? Why Deshaun Watson Will Start by for Houston – This Season Now,
although it's rare for a rookie to take over the reigns of their new team during that first season, it
does happen. Granted, most of the time it's because the prospects for success evaporated. Since the
team is going no where come playoff time, why continue to operate with a quarterback who is not
the team's future. This is the time many rookies get their chance, but for fantasy purposes, most still
fall flat on their face. · Houston, Makes a

  • 1. Vegans Are People Who Shun All Animal Products From Their... Vegans are people who shun all animal products from their clothes, diet, and even other personal items they may use. Finding animal friendly related gifts can be hard to find at times, but have no fear here are some ideas listed below. 1. Shoes– A good place to order shoes for vegans would be to visit www.planetshoes.com. They have saved the Vegan shopper the confusion of sifting through hundreds of shoes that may not include leather, but are not explicitly Vegan. Also by using modern technology they given vegans the privilege of offering these animal–free substitutes without sacrificing longevity or performance. 2.Veglife– If your friend is a health nut you can get him or her a vegan supplement called Veglife. It is a supplement that is suitable for even the most strictest vegan and contains no gelatin. To find Veglife related products go to www.vitanetonline.com/veglife.cfm 3. Smore Pies–Yep smore pies these tasty treats have vegan marshmallow inside of them and the chocolate in the pie is just heavenly if your friend has a sweet tooth then check out this treat at www.cosmosveganshoppe.com. 4.Lip Balm–The best vegan lip balm I have tried so far would be from Merry Hempsters. The Lip Balms are made from organic hempseed oil that is a great relief for parched lips. 5. Body Shimmers–Herbs Of Grace Mineral Makeup Body Shimmers add extra sparkle to your skin with just a light dusting and is easy to apply. This is one fantastic vegan friendly make up product. 6. • 4. Racial Stacking in Football Social Constructs Behind Racial Stacking and Stereotypes in Football Sport as an institution has seen many of its records and barriers shattered over its countless years of existence. For instance, sport has seen Jackie Robinson break the color barrier in Major League Baseball, and Billie Jean King defeat former champion Bobby Riggs in "The battle of the sexes". One barrier that still exists in sports today is racial stacking and stereotyping. The social phenomenon of racial stacking and stereotyping within the institution of sport has profoundly hindered the development and participation of particular races in different dimensions of sport. Racial stacking is a term coined by sociologists which refers to the over or under representation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Speculations arose as to Owens having an extra bone in his leg, or elongated bones, all of which were proven to be false. Scientist found that biology was not a determinant in an individual's ability to excel in sports; rather dedication, determination, and training are more influential factors (Dyreson, 2008). One socioligical explanation as to why African Americans excel in athletics is because it is viewed as a way of upward social and financial mobility. Being one of the world's largest institutions, sports generate billions of dollars in revenue each year. Specifically, the National Football League generates six billion dollars in revenue a year (Sports Industry Overview, 2009). The life of an NFL player is filled with fame, fortune and limitless opportunites, something that the majority of young children dream about. The reason we see more African Americans succeeding in sports is because they have limited resources and opportunities for upward social mobility elsewhere. With the poverty rate among African Americans so high (24.7 %) they often do not have the resources to excel in education so instead they look to sports as a way of socio–economic advancement (Bureau, Poverty, 2009). Sports sociologist Harry Edwards defines this concept of black youth using sports as a way of social mobility as "blind faith". Edwards explains three reasons as to why black families push their ... • 5. Football South Essay During the last few years, the AFC South has solidified itself as one of the weakest divisions in the NFL. In the past two seasons alone, a 9–7 record has proven good enough to clinch the AFC South title, and the division hasn't seen a Wild Card qualifier since the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. Despite a usually competitive division race, the chase for AFC South supremacy hasn't necessarily translated into interesting football. Last season, the Houston Texans managed to win the AFC South's first playoff game since the 2014 Indianapolis Colts, thanks to a favorable matchup against an Oakland Raiders team forced to start third–string rookie quarterback Connor Cook because of injuries. But of late, the division winner has typically seen a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scenario 2: O'Brien gives Watson the keys to the offense, and the rookie consistently develops and improves throughout the season. Scenario 3: Watson starts, but struggles or gets injured and the Texans are forced to replace him. Although the Texans have made the playoffs the past two seasons, despite any real semblance of an NFL–caliber quarterback, their division rivals have improved enough to overtake them atop the division if their offense continues to prove inept. Therefore, only in Scenario 2 will the Texans reach the playoffs for a third straight season. Indianapolis Colts It's easy to sympathize with Colts fans for the pain and misery they had to endure under former general manager Ryan Grigson. However, after years of injuries, draft mismanagement and free agent busts, Colts fans can finally move on with the hiring of new general manager Chris Ballard. Despite Grigson's best efforts as general manager from 2012–2016, Ballard still has plenty of pieces to work with offensively, as Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton and age–defying running back Frank Gore are still on the roster. If the Colts can protect Luck for more than four seconds on drop backs, which hasn't necessarily been the case, the trio will assuredly produce results. Defensively, Ballard and defensive coordinator Ted Monachino have a much taller task ahead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. What Is Josh Sounder Essay Josh Bailey was drafted with the 9th pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft. Crazy to think that this coming June, it will be 10 years since that moment. Looking back to that time, it wasn't exactly an ideally situation. The islanders had the 5th overall pick going into that draft. They would trade that to the leafs and swipe first round picks. The isles would move back to the 7th pick which was then moved to Nashville and they would end up picking Bailey with the 9th overall pick. 10 years after there are still a lot of people who just don't like having Bailey on the team. A bunch of different reasons behind that. The main reason is if you look back At the 2008 draft a lot big time players that play today we're drafted after him. You can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A lot of people just wanted him gone from the team. Now he is the guy who people just can't decide on. He is playing way to well to hate this season and it's time to consider him an elite and valuable part of the New York Islanders. Coming off a career season of 56 points, Bailey is off to a hot start in the 2017–2018 season. Through 17 games, he currently has 18 points, which puts him on an 87–point pace for this season. Last season, he was placed on a line with John Tavares and Andres Lee and that line worked wonders. With the addition of Jordan Eberle this season, that bumped Bailey off the top line. After about 7 games, coach Weight decided to put the line back together. Bailey, despite having a strong start to the season, didn't miss a beat rejoining his line mates from last season. It's also hard to not root for a guy who is such a good person off the ice. Just as @tomlofaso329 of the Blue and Orange army said "He's routinely progressed since we drafted him. He's a class act on and off the ice, and one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure of meeting. So, happy he's been lighting it up the last few years he's worked so hard for it and deserves it." No matter what the outcome of the game, no matter how his night was, Bailey was one of the few guys who would always stop by the ramp at the coliseum and come out and sign autographs and take pictures with the fans. It was the national Championship between two power–house number one seeded teams. The Tigers seemed to have the game locked up, with just over two minutes left they had a 9–point lead over the Jayhawks. Out of nowhere Kansas caught fire to produce an epic comeback. With 2 seconds left Mario Chalmers, the dead–eye Jayhawk point guard, hit a quick catch and shoot three–pointer to tie the game at 65. The Jayhawks went on to win the game in overtime, 75–68, in what would become not only KU's first championship in twenty years, but would also go down as one of the greatest championship games in college basketball history. The 2007–08 team will be remembered for the win and, more importantly, for "Mario's Miracle", the name given to Mario Chalmers' game tying shot. However, the Jayhawks had extensive success throughout the whole season that brought them to that point. The season was highlighted by a deadly accurate, high scoring offense that was fueled by a suffocating defense that swarmed at every opportunity to take the ball away, and the powerful showing in the tournament games leading up to the epic conclusion. Led by junior guard Brandon Rush at 13.3 points per game, Kansas finished the regular season ranked tenth in the nation for points per game at 81.5. Four of their seven–man rotation averaged ten or more points per game. The 'Hawks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. College Basketball Statistics And Predict The Nba Success... Model using college basketball statistics to predict the NBA success Problem statement The current NBA draft system is adapted since 1993 to improve the league's competitive balance. A NBA franchise that has the worst record previous year will have the highest 25% chance to win the No.1 pick in the next NBA draft (Price, 2015). Drafting a valuable player will have the profound effects on the success of a NBA team for the following reasons. Firstly, a NBA franchise only needs to pay its rookie with the small–scale money, which ranges from $1 million to $5 million per season based on rookie's draft position. Secondly, under the current collective bargaining agreement that allows a player to receive the maximum 5–year–long contract, a NBA team can have its drafted player for at least 9 years long if the player's performance meets the team's expectation. After the 4–year–long rookie contract expires, a NBA team will have the opportunity to keep its drafted player by offering him a qualifying offer or matching the contracts from other teams. However, many NBA teams have been criticized to not be able to identify the valuable players in the draft. For instance, the Cleveland Cavaliers (CLE) selected Anthony Bennett with its No.1 pick in the 2013 NBA draft. Only after 1– year stay with CLE, he was traded to Minnesota Timberwolves (MIN) and then waived by MIN. Consider the fact that the draft picks become increasingly valuable, a NBA franchise has to come up with a better draft ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Is the NFL Combine Necessary? There is a considerable amount of controversy within the NFL whether or not the NFL combine is necessary for future athletes coming out of college to perform in or not. This competition between athletes does not predict their professional future on a large scale. It only gives NFL teams, scouts an inside look on certain athletes that may enhance their team. After the combine is finished, it is never looked at again by the player's team scouts. The original use of the combine is to obtain all of the medical exams of the players taken at this event. The workouts and test are just a bonus for NFL team representatives to take a look at the players themselves. When an athlete enters into the NFL (National Football League) they realize their lives change in different ways. They do not consider work boring it is more like a hobby to the athletes. The roles that athletes play in fans lives predicts the way people look at them. NFL athletes play as major role models in fans outlook on life. You notice people wanting to look like them, talk like them, and even act like them. Leadership roles are put in the paths of people as a result of these major athletes posing as leaders in everyday life. Just like anything else though there is a negative side to it. Challenges Facing Detroit Lions' Public Relations Operations The Detroit Lions' Public Relations Challenges For the last decade, the Detroit Lions have struggled both in terms of on–field performance and in terms of their public appeal in the recession–blighted Michigan region. This futility peaked in 2008, when the Lions became the first team in NFL history to lose all 16 regular season contests. However, as per the strategy of the National Football League's college draft formula, a series of favorable drafts have allowed the Detroit Lions to enter into a place of contention. Indeed, with the additions of 2009 #1 overall draft pick, star quarterback Matt Stafford and 2010 #2 overall pick, star defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh, the Detroit Lions would make the 2011 playoffs. It was the franchise's first such berth in 12 years and would mark its first cause for optimism in several generations of player. However, this accomplishment is today overshadowed by the array of Public Relations (PR) challenges before the Detroit Lions. For an organization enduring a considerable uphill climb in order to gain appeal and interest with its fans, the personnel issues which seem to follow many of its players may well haunt the organization going forward. • 28. Adam Pelech In The NHL Draft The NHL draft, once beyond the second round, can be likened to shooting fish in a barrel, as the saying goes. There is no clear cut way of determining what the end result of a players potential really will be once he has gone through the rigors of your organization's development plan. And that's not to say the development plan is all that shapes the player. There are many other intangibles and personal factors that come into play as well, ultimately separating the Shea Weber's from the Michael Del Zotto's (sorry Micheal, just for comparison sake). • 33. The Detroit Lions This won't be the most popular subject but here goes nothing... it's time to trade Calvin Johnson. Before you start with the name calling and the bashing of my intellect, just hear me out and be open–minded for a second. Try to think unemotionally and recognize what is best for the future of the Detroit Lions. There are far too many reasons to ship out our future Hall–of–famer and not enough logical ones to keep him. Here are five explanations of why we should deal Megatron. 1. Calvin isn't getting any younger and our window to win with him is all but closed. We are not going anywhere this year and there is no point to exacerbate his attrition. His body has plenty of wear and tear and there's a limited amount of time before Calvin's stock precipitously declines. It has been evident in recent weeks that his speed and agility has diminished. Tackles that he used to break and defenders he used to make miss are becoming a thing of the past. He is still fast for his massive frame, but no where near the 4.35 speed that used to take slants and posts to the house. Calvin just had a dominant performance against a weak and negligent Chicago Bears' defense. This week would make for a perfect time to sell high. We should cash in before his value is completely squandered away. The thread is thin on Calvin's tires and it's just a matter of time before another nagging injury resurfaces. 2.
