HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT REPRESENT
PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?
ETHNICITIES
• IN OUR OPENING SEQUENCE THERE IS NO ETHNIC DIVERSITY, THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT
THAT WE DIDN’T FEEL THAT THIS WAS A MAJOR THEME IN OUR FILM SO WE DIDN’T NEED IT.
ALSO WE DID NOT HAVE ANY ACTORS FROM DIFFERENT ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS AT OUR
DISPOSAL.
• THE THEME OF OUR FILM DIDN’T REALLY WARRANT ANY ETHNIC DIVERSITY, WITH MORE
RESOURCES WE WOULDVE INCLUDED ETHNIC DIVERSITY AND MADE IT A THEME IN OUR FILM.
GENDER
• IN OUR FILM WE HAVE NOT USED A FEMALE THIS IS TO PLAY ON THE
STEREOTYPE THAT MEN ARE SUPERIOR TO WOMEN AND THAT THEY ARE
WEAK. AGAIN WE HAD THE PROBLEM THAT WE DIDN’T HAVE AN ACTRESS AT
OUR DISPOSAL. WE WANTED TO TRY AND DISPLAY BRAVADO IN THE MAIN
CHARACTER THUS WHY WE PLAYED ON THE STEREOTYPE THAT WOMEN ARE
WEAK.
OUR FILM WAS AIMED AT A YOUNGER AUDIENCE, SO WE DECIDED
TO USE YOUNGER ACTORS, ALTHOUGH WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN
ABLE TO USE AN OLDER ACTOR AS WE DID NOT HAVE ONE
AVAILABLE AND THEY WOULD NOT FIT IN WITH THE PLOT OF OUR
FILM.
A BOY TEENAGER IS FOUND DEAD, SHWOING THAT DESPITE ALL
THE BRAVADO MEN CAN BE JUST AS VULNERABLE AS EVERYOEN
ELSE.

•WE DIDN’T WANT TO INCLUDE RELIGION IN OUR FILM AS IT
WOULD CAUSE IT TO BE OVER COMPLICATED, ALSO
RELIGION IS A VERY SENSITIVE SUBJECT MEANING WE
WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE THE PLOT TO FIT AROUND IT.
•TO PROPERLY REPRESENT RELIGION SYMBOLISM IS
NEEDED BUT WE DID NOT WANT TO OVERCOMPLICATE OUR
FILM USING SYMBOLISM AND ALSO WE DID NOT WANT TO
SUBJECT OUR FILM TO CONTROVERSY.
