1. BRAINSTORM 2-
ROLE OF TEACHERS

2. THE OBJECTIVE
• The objective of this topic would be to exclusively
interview, and get opinions from the teachers of the role
of the principal. Asking questions on how they feel on the
subject. To see if they had any issues or discomforts
about the role of the principal.

3. The Mode?
• The Mode used would probably be Observational as at
the same time as interviewing, it would be observing the
teachers and the principal. As well as that I would have a
fly on the wall type of documentary as it would be best
suited with the mode I choose as well as how I would
want the documentary to be structured.

4. Narrative Style
• Very assertive, bold to emphasize the seriousness of the
topic, weakness- may be less/too much narration loosing
the structure.

5. Target Audience
• Would have a very broad target audience, preferably
teachers, but can also attract students as well. Weakness
targeting at a very broad audience may, not work as not
all the target audience initially thought of might find the
documentary appealing because of it being very broad. To
prevent this from happening, the research we conduct
must be able to fit the profile of all the target auidence.

6. Experts
• Teachers may be classed as experts themselves as they
know the system, how it works etc. Also teachers of past
experience of being a head teacher, may also be handy.
Weaknesses, not everyone may have that experience as
well as having the time to talk. Also social pressures to
express their true feelings may be influence the
information given.

7. Genre
• Would probably be thriller/action as the aim of it would
be to expose certain aspects as well as attempting to
shock the audience. Which would excite them and
intrigue them.

8. Codes and Conventions
• Stock footage, archival footage, off screen narrator,
narration, having experts to the right of the screen, are all
some of the main codes and conventions I will use if this
topic was chosen

9. What I have learnt
• Firstly I’ve learnt whilst brainstorming a particular topic
is that, the whole structure, i.e. narrative structure, mode
genre and the codes and conventions used, have meet the
requirement of the target audience so you maintain their
consumption of the documentary. Additionally having a
target audience which is too broad may result in a lack of
consumer attention towards the documentary. So its vital
that in the real brainstorm of the documentary we do fits a
narrow target audience which would enable us to use
various methods to appeal to that particular group.
