and would want a say in it.
• The documentary will have a formal level when it comes
to formalitty snd the way it will be presented.
3. BRIEF SUMMARY
As part of our A-level Media course, we will be looking into the
subject of underage drinking and whether the legal drinking age
limit should be decreased, increased or stay the same. Our
documentary will explore the aspects of underage drinking from
different perspectives. E.g. professional, public opinion.
The piece will include an interview from a professional point and it
will also include a series of voxpops. The voxpops will be
mainly students who are the ones affected by underage
drinking to see what they think of the topic. These will taken
place at The Solihull sixth form College and also around Solihull
town centre.
It will include stock footage of the news, issues of underage
drinking and also the result of underage drinking.
During this we hope to gather a mixture of opinions from diverse
backgrounds and beliefs on the subject.
4. RESEARCH
Primary
•
A small pilot study will be taken place where we will hand out 50 questionnaires to
people to fill out, testing the knowledge they have on underage drinking and also
we will be using these as a way to gather opinions on the subject. This is similar to
the voxpops we will be filming, as these will be testing public knowledge as well as
grasping the opinions they have on underage drinking.
•
The professional interviews should give us a much more informative and
professional approach to the matter, whereas voxpops may be more opinion
based. This will inform our viewers and educate them about the subject which may
make them see the topic in a new light.
Secondary
•
As part of out documentary the clip will include facts and figures, we will be
sourcing these from trusted websites such as the BBC and The Guardian, as we
know the information is predominatly reliable.
•
We will be watching YouTube videos of alocohol related adverts, this is to
investigate what makes underage drinkers and drink. We will also be portraying
how the media has hugely impacted teenagers in the UK to drink.
5. RESOURCES
Equipment that we will be using is cameras, microphones, headphones and
a tripod in order to film our documentary efficiently.
Access to a Mac computer with applications such as Final Cut Express,
Garage Band. This is so that we are able to edit the documentary, create
music to go with the piece and also we need them in order to produce
the radio trail and the double page spread for the magazine task.
We will be required to use a recording studio to record the voiceover for the
documentary.
In order to complete the magainze double page spread we will need a
digital stills camera, aWindows PC with Adobe Photoshop in order to
edit the document.
